1 ஆண்டவருடைய சினத்தின் மிலாற்றினால் உண்டான சிறுமையைக் கண்டபுருஷன் நான். I AM the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

2 அவர் என்னை வெளிச்சத்திலே அல்ல, இருளிலே அழைத்து நடத்திவந்தார். He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

3 அவர் தமது கையை எனக்கு விரோதமாகவே நித்தமும் திருப்பினார். Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.

4 என் சதையையும் என் தோலையும் முற்றலாக்கினார்; என் எலும்புகளை நொறுக்கினார். My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.

5 அவர் எனக்கு விரோதமாகக் கொத்தளங்கட்டி, கசப்பினாலும் வருத்தத்தினாலும் என்னை வளைத்துகொண்டார். He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.

6 பூர்வகாலத்தில் செத்துக்கிடக்கிறவர்களைப்போல என்னை இருளான இடங்களில் கிடக்கப்பண்ணினார். He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.

7 நான் புறப்படக் கூடாதபடி என்னைச் சூழவேலியடைத்தார்; என் விலங்கைப் பாரமாக்கினார். He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

8 நான் சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிட்டாலும், என் ஜெபத்துக்கு வழியை அடைத்துப்போட்டார். Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.

9 வெட்டின கற்களின் சுவரால் என் வழிகளை அடைத்துப்போட்டார், என் பாதைகளைத் தாறுமாறாக்கினார். He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.

10 அவர் எனக்குப் பதிவிருக்கிற கரடியும், மறைவிடங்களில் தங்குகிற சிங்கமுமாயிருக்கிறார். He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.

11 என் வழிகளை அப்புறப்படுத்தி, என்னைத் துண்டித்துப்போட்டார்; என்னை பாழாக்கிவிட்டார். He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.

12 தமது வில்லை நாணேற்றி, என்னை அம்புக்கு இலக்காக வைத்தார். He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

13 தம்முடைய அம்பறாத்தூணியின் அம்புகளை என் உள்ளிந்திரியங்களில் படப்பண்ணினார். He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

14 நான் என் ஜனத்தார் யாவருக்கும் பரியாசமும், நித்தம் அவர்கள் கின்னரப் பாடலுமானேன். I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.

15 கசப்பினால் என்னை நிரப்பி, எட்டியினால் என்னை வெறிக்கச்செய்தார். He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.

16 அவர் பருக்கைக் கற்களால் என் பற்களை நொறுக்கி, என்னைச் சாம்பலில் புரளப்பண்ணினார். He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.

17 என் ஆத்துமாவைச் சமாதானத்துக்குத் தூரமாக்கினார்; சுகத்தை மறந்தேன். And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.

18 என் பெலனும் நான் கர்த்தருக்குக் காத்திருந்த நம்பிக்கையும் அழிந்துபோயிற்று என்றேன். And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:

19 எட்டியும் பிச்சுமாகிய என் சிறுமையையும் என் தவிப்பையும் நினைத்தருளும். Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

20 என் ஆத்துமா அவைகளை நினைத்து நினைத்து எனக்குள் முறிந்துபோகிறது. My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

21 இதை என் மனதிலே வைத்து, நம்பிக்கைகொண்டிருப்பேன். This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

22 நாம் நிர்மூலமாகாதிருக்கிறது கர்த்தருடைய கிருபையே, அவருடைய இரக்கங்களுக்கு முடிவில்லை. It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23 அவைகள் காலைதோறும் புதியவைகள்; உமது உண்மை பெரிதாயிருக்கிறது. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24 கர்த்தர் என் பங்கு என்று என் ஆத்துமா சொல்லும்; ஆகையால் அவரிடத்தில் நம்பிக்கைகொண்டிருப்பேன். The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25 தமக்குக் காத்திருக்கிறவர்களுக்கும் தம்மைத் தேடுகிற ஆத்துமாவுக்கும் கர்த்தர் நல்லவர். The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

26 கர்த்தருடைய இரட்சிப்புக்கு நம்பிக்கையோடு காத்திருக்கிறது நல்லது. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

27 தன் இளம்பிராயத்தில் நுகத்தைச் சுமக்கிறது மனுஷனுக்கு நல்லது. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke of his youth.

28 அவரே அதைத் தன்மேல் வைத்தாரென்று அவன் தனித்திருந்து மெளனமாயிருக்கக்கடவன். He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

29 நம்பிக்கைக்கு இடமுண்டோ என்று தன் வாயைத் தூளில் நுழுந்துவானாக. He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

30 தன்னை அடிக்கிறவனுக்குத் தன் கன்னத்தைக் காட்டி, நிந்தையால் நிறைந்திருப்பானாக. He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

31 ஆண்டவர் என்றென்றைக்கும் கைவிடமாட்டார். For the LORD will not cast off for ever:

32 அவர் சஞ்சலப்படுத்தினாலும் தமது மிகுந்த கிருபையின்படி இரங்குவார். But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

33 அவர் மனப்பூர்வமாய் மனுபுத்திரரைச் சிறுமையாக்கிச் சஞ்சலப்படுத்துகிறதில்லை. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

34 ஒருவன் பூமியில் சிறைப்பட்டவர்கள் யாவரையும் தன் கால்களின்கீழ் நசுக்குகிறதையும், To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth.

35 உன்னதமானவரின் சமுகத்தில் மனுஷருடைய நியாயத்தைப் புரட்டுகிறதையும், To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,

36 மனுஷனை அவனுடைய வழக்கிலே மாறுபாடாக்குகிறதையும், ஆண்டவர் காணாதிருப்பாரோ? To subvert a man in his cause, the LORD approveth not.

37 ஆண்டவர் கட்டளையிடாதிருக்கக் காரியம் சம்பவிக்கும் என்று சொல்லுகிறவன் யார்? Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

38 உன்னதமானவருடைய வாயிலிருந்து தீமையும் நன்மையும் புறப்படுகிறதில்லையோ? Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?

39 உயிருள்ள மனுஷன் முறையிடுவானேன்? அவன் தன் பாவத்துக்கு; வரும் தண்டனையைக்குறித்து முறையிடுகிறதென்ன? Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

40 நாம் நம்முடைய வழிகளைச் சோதித்து ஆராய்ந்து, கர்த்தரிடத்தில் திரும்பக்கடவோம். Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

41 நாம் நம்முடைய கைகளோடுங்கூட நம்முடைய இருதயத்தையும் பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற தேவனிடத்திற்கு ஏறெடுக்கக்கடவோம். Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

42 நாங்கள் துரோகஞ்செய்து, கலகம் பண்ணினோம்; ஆகையால் தேவரீர் மன்னியாதிருந்தீர். We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.

43 தேவரீர் கோபத்தால் மூடிக்கொண்டு, எங்களைத் தப்பவிடாமல் பின் தொடர்ந்து கொன்றீர். Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.

44 ஜெபம் உட்பிரவேசிக்கக் கூடாதபடிக்கு உம்மை மேகத்தால் மூடிக்கொண்டீர். Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.

45 ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே எங்களைக் குப்பையும் அருவருப்புமாக்கினீர். Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.

46 எங்கள் பகைஞர் எல்லாரும் எங்களுக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தங்கள் வாயைத் திறந்தார்கள். All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

47 திகிலும் படுகுழியும் பாழ்க்கடிப்பும் சங்காரமும் எங்களுக்கு நேரிட்டது. Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

48 என் ஜனமாகிய குமாரத்தி அடைந்த கேட்டினிமித்தம் என் கண்களிலிருந்து நீர்க்கால்கள் பாய்கிறது. Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

49 கர்த்தர் பரலோகத்திலிருந்து நோக்கிப்பார்க்குமட்டும், Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission.

50 என் கண் இடைவிடாமல் ஓய்வின்றிச் சொரிகிறது. Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.

51 என் நகரத்தினுடைய குமாரத்திகள் அனைவரினிமித்தமும், என் கண் என் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு நோவுண்டாக்குகிறது. Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.

52 முகாந்தரம் இல்லாமல் என்னைப் பகைக்கிறவர்கள் என்னை ஒரு பட்சியைப் போல வேட்டையாடினார்கள். Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.

53 காவற்கிடங்கிலே என் பிராணனை ஒடுக்கி, என்மீதில் கல்லை வைத்தார்கள். They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

54 தண்ணீர் என் தலையின்மேல் புரண்டது; நாசமானேன் என்றேன். Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.

55 மகா ஆழமான கிடங்கிலிருந்து, கர்த்தாவே, உம்முடைய நாமத்தைப் பற்றிக் கூப்பிட்டேன். I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

56 என் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டீர்; என் பெருமூச்சுக்கும் என் கூப்பிடுதலுக்கும் உமது செவியை அடைத்துக்கொள்ளாதேயும். Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

57 நான் உம்மை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்ட நாளிலே நீர் அணுகி: பயப்படாதே என்றீர். Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.

58 ஆண்டவரே, என் ஆத்துமாவின் வழக்கை நடத்தினீர்; என் பிராணனை மீட்டுக்கொண்டீர். O LORD, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

59 கர்த்தாவே, எனக்கு உண்டான அநியாயத்தைக் கண்டீர்; என் நியாயத்தைத் தீரும். O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.

60 அவர்களுடைய எல்லாக் குரோதத்தையும், அவர்கள் எனக்கு விரோதமாக நினைத்த எல்லா நினைவுகளையும் கண்டீர். Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.

61 கர்த்தாவே, அவர்கள் நிந்திக்கும் நிந்தையையும், அவர்கள் எனக்கு விரோதமாய் நினைத்த எல்லா நினைவுகளையும், Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, and all their imaginations against me;

62 எனக்கு விரோதமாய் எழும்பினவர்களின் வாய்மொழிகளையும், அவர்கள் நாள்முழுதும் எனக்கு விரோதமாய் யோசிக்கும் யோசனைகளையும் கேட்டீர். The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.

63 அவர்கள் உட்கார்ந்திருப்பதையும் அவர்கள் எழுந்திருப்பதையும் நோக்கிப்பாரும்; நான் அவர்களுடைய பாடலாயிருக்கிறேன். Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.

64 கர்த்தாவே, அவர்கள் கைகள் செய்த கிரியைகளுக்குத்தக்கதாக அவர்களுக்குப் பலன் அளிப்பீர். Render unto them a recompence, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.

65 அவர்களுக்கு இருதய வேதனையைக் கொடுப்பீர், உம்முடைய சாபம் அவர்கள் மேல் இருக்கும். Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.

1 Aanndavarutaiya sinaththin milaattinaal unndaana siraுmaiyaik kanndapurushan naan. I AM the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

2 Avar ennai velichchaththilae alla, irulilae alaiththu nadaththivanthaar. He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

3 Avar thamathu kaiyai enakku virothamaakavae niththamum thiruppinaar. Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.

4 En sathaiyaiyum en tholaiyum muttalaakkinaar; en elumpukalai noraுkkinaar. My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.

5 Avar enakku virothamaakak koththalangatti, kasappinaalum varuththaththinaalum ennai valaiththukonndaar. He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.

6 Poorvakaalaththil seththukkidakkiravarkalaippola ennai irulaana idangalil kidakkappannnninaar. He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.

7 Naan purappadak koodaathapati ennaich soolavaeliyataiththaar; en vilangaip paaramaakkinaar. He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

8 Naan saththamittuk kooppittalum, en jepaththukku valiyai ataiththuppottar. Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.

9 Vettina karkalin suvaraal en valikalai ataiththuppottar, en paathaikalaith thaaraுmaaraakkinaar. He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.

10 Avar enakkup pathivirukkira karatiyum, maraividangalil thangukira singamumaayirukkiraar. He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.

11 En valikalai appurappaduththi, ennaith thunntiththuppottar; ennai paalaakkivittar. He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.

12 Thamathu villai naanneetti, ennai ampukku ilakkaaka vaiththaar. He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

13 Thammutaiya amparaaththoonniyin ampukalai en ullinthiriyangalil padappannnninaar. He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

14 Naan en janaththaar yaavarukkum pariyaasamum, niththam avarkal kinnarap paadalumaanaen. I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.

15 Kasappinaal ennai nirappi, ettiyinaal ennai verikkachcheythaar. He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.

16 Avar parukkaik karkalaal en parkalai noraுkki, ennaich saampalil puralappannnninaar. He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.

17 En aaththumaavaich samaathaanaththukkuth thooramaakkinaar; sukaththai maranthaen. And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.

18 En pelanum naan karththarukkuk kaaththiruntha nampikkaiyum alinthupoyittaு enten. And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:

19 Ettiyum pichchumaakiya en siraுmaiyaiyum en thavippaiyum ninaiththarulum. Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

20 En aaththumaa avaikalai ninaiththu ninaiththu enakkul murinthupokirathu. My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

21 Ithai en manathilae vaiththu, nampikkaikonntiruppaen. This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

22 Naam nirmoolamaakaathirukkirathu karththarutaiya kirupaiyae, avarutaiya irakkangalukku mutivillai. It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23 Avaikal kaalaithoraுm puthiyavaikal; umathu unnmai perithaayirukkirathu. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24 Karththar en pangu entu en aaththumaa sollum; aakaiyaal avaridaththil nampikkaikonntiruppaen. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25 Thamakkuk kaaththirukkiravarkalukkum thammaith thaedukira aaththumaavukkum Karththar nallavar. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

26 Karththarutaiya iratchippukku nampikkaiyodu kaaththirukkirathu nallathu. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

27 Than ilampiraayaththil nukaththaich sumakkirathu manushanukku nallathu. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke of his youth.

28 Avarae athaith thanmael vaiththaarentu avan thaniththirunthu melanamaayirukkakkadavan. He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

29 Nampikkaikku idamunntoo entu than vaayaith thoolil nulunthuvaanaaka. He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

30 Thannai atikkiravanukkuth than kannaththaik kaatti, ninthaiyaal nirainthiruppaanaaka. He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

31 Aanndavar ententaikkum kaividamaattar. For the LORD will not cast off for ever:

32 Avar sanjalappaduththinaalum thamathu mikuntha kirupaiyinpati iranguvaar. But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

33 Avar manappoorvamaay manupuththiraraich siraுmaiyaakkich sanjalappaduththukirathillai. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

34 Oruvan poomiyil siraippattavarkal yaavaraiyum than kaalkalingeel nasukkukirathaiyum, To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth.

35 Unnathamaanavarin samukaththil manusharutaiya niyaayaththaip purattukirathaiyum, To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,

36 Manushanai avanutaiya valakkilae maaraுpaadaakkukirathaiyum, aanndavar kaannaathiruppaaro? To subvert a man in his cause, the LORD approveth not.

37 Aanndavar kattalaiyidaathirukkak kaariyam sampavikkum entu sollukiravan yaar? Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

38 Unnathamaanavarutaiya vaayilirunthu theemaiyum nanmaiyum purappadukirathillaiyo? Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?

39 Uyirulla manushan muraiyiduvaanaen? Avan than paavaththukku; varum thanndanaiyaikkuriththu muraiyidukirathenna? Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

40 Naam nammutaiya valikalaich sothiththu aaraaynthu, karththaridaththil thirumpakkadavom. Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

41 Naam nammutaiya kaikalodungaூda nammutaiya iruthayaththaiyum paralokaththilirukkira thaevanidaththirku aeraெdukkakkadavom. Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

42 Naangal thurokanjaெythu, kalakam pannnninom; aakaiyaal thaevareer manniyaathiruntheer. We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.

43 Thaevareer kopaththaal mootikkonndu, engalaith thappavidaamal pin thodarnthu konteer. Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.

44 Jebam utpiravaesikkak koodaathapatikku ummai maekaththaal mootikkonnteer. Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.

45 Janangalukkullae engalaik kuppaiyum aruvaruppumaakkineer. Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.

46 Engal pakainjar ellaarum engalukku virothamaayth thangal vaayaith thiranthaarkal. All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

47 Thikilum padukuliyum paalkkatippum sangaaramum engalukku naerittathu. Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

48 En janamaakiya kumaaraththi ataintha kaettinimiththam en kannkalilirunthu neerkkaalkal paaykirathu. Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

49 Karththar paralokaththilirunthu Nnokkippaarkkumattum, Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission.

50 En kann itaividaamal oyvintich sorikirathu. Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.

51 En nakaraththinutaiya kumaaraththikal anaivarinimiththamum, en kann en aaththumaavukku Nnovunndaakkukirathu. Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.

52 Mukaantharam illaamal ennaip pakaikkiravarkal ennai oru patchiyaip pola vaettaைyaatinaarkal. Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.

53 Kaavarkidangilae en piraananai odukki, enmeethil kallai vaiththaarkal. They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

54 Thannnneer en thalaiyinmael puranndathu; naasamaanaen enten. Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.

55 Makaa aalamaana kidangilirunthu, karththaavae, ummutaiya naamaththaip pattik kooppittaேn. I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

56 En saththaththaik kaettir; en perumoochchukkum en kooppiduthalukkum umathu seviyai ataiththukkollaathaeyum. Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

57 Naan ummai Nnokkik kooppitta naalilae neer anuki: payappadaathae enteer. Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.

58 Aanndavarae, en aaththumaavin valakkai nadaththineer; en piraananai meettukkonnteer. O LORD, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

59 Karththaavae, enakku unndaana aniyaayaththaik kannteer; en niyaayaththaith theerum. O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.

60 Avarkalutaiya ellaak kurothaththaiyum, avarkal enakku virothamaaka ninaiththa ellaa ninaivukalaiyum kannteer. Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.

61 Karththaavae, avarkal ninthikkum ninthaiyaiyum, avarkal enakku virothamaay ninaiththa ellaa ninaivukalaiyum, Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, and all their imaginations against me;

62 Enakku virothamaay elumpinavarkalin vaaymolikalaiyum, avarkal naalmuluthum enakku virothamaay yosikkum yosanaikalaiyum kaettir. The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.

63 Avarkal utkaarnthiruppathaiyum avarkal elunthiruppathaiyum Nnokkippaarum; naan avarkalutaiya paadalaayirukkiraேn. Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.

64 Karththaavae, avarkal kaikal seytha kiriyaikalukkuththakkathaaka avarkalukkup palan alippeer. Render unto them a recompence, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.

65 Avarkalukku iruthaya vaethanaiyaik koduppeer, ummutaiya saapam avarkal mael irukkum. Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.
