1 மோசே மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கிவரத் தாமதிக்கிறதை ஜனங்கள் கண்டபோது, அவர்கள் ஆரோனிடத்தில் கூட்டங்கூடி, அவனை நோக்கி: எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து எங்களை அழைத்துக் கொண்டுவந்த அந்த மோசேக்கு என்ன சம்பவித்ததோ அறியோம்; ஆதலால் நீர் எழுந்து, எங்களுக்கு முன்செல்லும் தெய்வங்களை எங்களுக்காக உண்டுபண்ணும் என்றார்கள். And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

3 ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் தங்கள் காதுகளில் இருந்த பொன்னணிகளைக் கழற்றி, ஆரோனிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

7 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: நீ இறங்கிப்போ; எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து நீ நடத்திக்கொண்டுவந்த உன் ஜனங்கள் தங்களைக் கெடுத்துக் கொண்டார்கள். And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

8 அவர்களுக்கு நான் விதித்த வழியை அவர்கள் சீக்கிரமாய் விட்டு விலகினார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு ஒரு கன்றுக்குட்டியை வார்ப்பித்து, அதைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு, அதற்குப் பலியிட்டு: இஸ்ரவேலரே, உங்களை எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்த உங்கள் தெய்வங்கள் இவைகளே என்று சொன்னார்கள் என்றார். They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

9 பின்னும் கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: இந்த ஜனங்களைப் பார்த்தேன்; இவர்கள் வணங்காக்கழுத்துள்ள ஜனங்கள். And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

10 ஆகையால் என் கோபம் இவர்கள்மேல் மூளவும், நான் இவர்களை அழித்துப்போடவும் நீ என்னை விட்டுவிடு; உன்னை ஒரு பெரிய ஜாதியாக்குவேன் என்றார். Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

11 மோசே தன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: கர்த்தாவே, தேவரீர் மகா பலத்தினாலும் வல்லமையுள்ள கையினாலும் எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின உம்முடைய ஜனங்களுக்கு விரோதமாக உம்முடைய கோபம் பற்றியெரிவதென்ன? And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

13 உமது தாசராகிய ஆபிரகாமையும் ஈசாக்கையும் இஸ்ரவேலையும் நினைத்தருளும்: உங்கள் சந்ததியை வானத்து நட்சத்திரங்களைப்போலப் பெருகப்பண்ணி, நான் சொன்ன இந்தத் தேசம் முழுவதையும் உங்கள் சந்ததியார் என்றைக்கும் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கு, அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று உம்மைக்கொண்டே அவர்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்னீரே என்று கெஞ்சிப் பிரார்த்தித்தான். Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

14 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் தமது ஜனங்களுக்குச் செய்ய நினைத்த தீங்கைச் செய்யாதபடிக்குப் பரிதாபங்கொண்டார். And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

15 பின்பு மோசே மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினான்; சாட்சிப்பலகைகள் இரண்டும் அவன் கையில் இருந்தது; அந்தப் பலகைகள் இருபுறமும் எழுதப்பட்டிருந்தது, அவைகள் இந்தப் பக்கத்திலும் அந்தப் பக்கத்திலும் எழுதப்பட்டிருந்தது. And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

16 அந்தப் பலகைகள் தேவனால் செய்யப்பட்டதாயும், அவைகளிலே பதிந்த எழுத்து தேவனால் எழுதப்பட்ட எழுத்துமாயிருந்தது. And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

17 ஜனங்கள் ஆரவாரம் பண்ணுகிறதை யோசுவா கேட்டு, மோசேயை நோக்கி: பாளயத்தில் யுத்தத்தின் இரைச்சல் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது என்றான். And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

18 அதற்கு மோசே; அது ஜெயதொனியாகிய சத்தமும் அல்ல, அபஜெயதொனியாகிய சத்தமும் அல்ல; பாடலின் சத்தம் எனக்குக் கேட்கிறது என்றான். And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

19 அவன் பாளயத்துக்குச் சமீபித்து, அந்தக் கன்றுக்குட்டியையும் நடனத்தையும் கண்டபோது, மோசே கோபம் மூண்டவனாகி, தன் கையிலே இருந்த பலகைகளை மலையின் அடியிலே எறிந்து உடைத்துப்போட்டு; And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

23 இவர்கள் என்னை நோக்கி: எங்களுக்கு முன்செல்லும் தெய்வங்களை எங்களுக்கு உண்டுபண்ணும்; எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து எங்களை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்த அந்த மோசேக்கு என்ன சம்பவித்ததோ அறியோம் என்றார்கள். For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

24 அப்பொழுது நான்: பொன்னுடைமை உடையவர்கள் எவர்களோ அவர்கள் அதைக் கழற்றித் தரக்கடவர்கள் என்றேன்; அவர்கள் அப்படியே செய்தார்கள்; அதை அக்கினியிலே போட்டேன், அதிலிருந்து இந்தக் கன்றுக்குட்டி வந்தது என்றான். And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

25 ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் பகைவருக்குள் அவமானப்படத்தக்கதாக ஆரோன் அவர்களை நிர்வாணமாக்கியிருந்தான். அவர்கள் நிர்வாணமாயிருக்கிறதை மோசே கண்டு, And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

27 அவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: உங்களில் ஒவ்வொருவனும் தன் பட்டயத்தைத் தன் அரையிலே கட்டிக்கொண்டு, பாளயமெங்கும் உள்ளும் புறம்பும் வாசலுக்கு வாசல் போய், ஒவ்வொருவனும் தன்தன் சகோதரனையும் ஒவ்வொருவனும் தன்தன் சிநேகிதனையும் ஒவ்வொருவனும் தன்தன் அயலானையும் கொன்றுபோடக்கடவன் என்று இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான். And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.

28 லேவியின் புத்திரர் மோசே சொன்னபடியே செய்தார்கள்; அந்நாளில் ஜனங்களில் ஏறக்குறைய மூவாயிரம்பேர் விழுந்தார்கள். And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

29 கர்த்தர் இன்றைக்கு உங்களுக்கு ஆசீர்வாதம் அளிக்கும்படி, இன்றைக்கு நீங்கள் அவனவன் தன்தன் மகனுக்கும் சகோதரனுக்கும் விரோதமாயிருக்கிறதினால், கர்த்தருக்கு உங்களைப் பிரதிஷ்டை பண்ணுங்கள் என்று மோசே சொல்லியிருந்தான். For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

30 மறுநாளில் மோசே ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் மகா பெரிய பாவஞ்செய்தீர்கள்; உங்களுக்காகப் பாவநிவிர்த்தி செய்யக்கூடுமோ என்று அறிய இப்பொழுது நான் கர்த்தரிடத்திற்கு ஏறிப்போகிறேன் என்றான். And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.

31 அப்படியே மோசே கர்த்தரிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய்: ஐயோ, இந்த ஜனங்கள் பொன்னினால் தங்களுக்குத் தெய்வங்களை உண்டாக்கி, மகா பெரிய பாவம் செய்திருக்கிறார்கள். And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

32 ஆகிலும், தேவரீர் அவர்கள் பாவத்தை மன்னித்தருளுவீரானால் மன்னித்தருளும்; இல்லாவிட்டால் நீர் எழுதின உம்முடைய புஸ்தகத்திலிருந்து என் பேரைக் கிறுக்கிப்போடும் என்றான். Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

33 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: எனக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவம் செய்தவன் எவனோ, அவன் பேரை என் புஸ்தகத்திலிருந்து கிறுக்கிப்போடுவேன். And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

34 இப்பொழுது நீ போய், நான் உனக்குச் சொன்ன இடத்துக்கு ஜனங்களை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோ; என் தூதனானவர் உனக்குமுன் செல்லுவார்; ஆகிலும், நான் விசாரிக்கும் நாளில் அவர்களுடைய பாவத்தை அவர்களிடத்தில் விசாரிப்பேன் என்றார். Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

1 Moses malaiyilirunthu irangivarath thaamathikkirathai janangal kanndapothu, avarkal aaronidaththil koottangaூti, avanai Nnokki: ekipthu thaesaththilirunthu engalai alaiththuk konnduvantha antha Moseskku enna sampaviththatho ariyom; aathalaal neer elunthu, engalukku munsellum theyvangalai engalukkaaka unndupannnum entarkal. And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

2 Atharku aaron: ungal manaivikal kumaarar kumaaraththikalutaiya kaathukalil irukkira ponnannikalaik kalatti, ennidaththil konnduvaarungal entan. And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

3 Janangal ellaarum thangal kaathukalil iruntha ponnannikalaik kalatti, aaronidaththil konnduvanthaarkal. And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

4 Avarkal kaiyilirunthu avan anthap ponnai vaangi, sirpakkaruviyinaal karuppitiththu, oru kantukkuttiyai vaarppiththaan. Appoluthu avarkal: isravaelarae, ungalai ekipthuthaesaththilirunthu alaiththukkonnduvantha ungal theyvangal ivaikalae entarkal. And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

5 Aaron athaip paarththu, atharku munpaaka oru palipeedaththaik katti, naalaikkuk karththarukkup panntikai entu koorinaan. And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.

6 Maraுnaal avarkal athikaalaiyil elunthu, sarvaanga thakanapalikalaiyittu, samaathaanapalikalaich seluththinaarkal; pinpu, janangal pusikkavum kutikkavum utkaarnthu, vilaiyaada elunthaarkal. And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

7 Appoluthu Karththar Mosesyai Nnokki: nee irangippo; ekipthuthaesaththilirunthu nee nadaththikkonnduvantha un janangal thangalaik keduththuk konndaarkal. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

8 Avarkalukku naan vithiththa valiyai avarkal seekkiramaay vittu vilakinaarkal; avarkal thangalukku oru kantukkuttiyai vaarppiththu, athaip panninthukonndu, atharkup paliyittu: isravaelarae, ungalai ekipthuthaesaththilirunthu alaiththukkonnduvantha ungal theyvangal ivaikalae entu sonnaarkal entar. They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

9 Pinnum Karththar Mosesyai Nnokki: intha janangalaip paarththaen; ivarkal vanangaakkaluththulla janangal. And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

10 Aakaiyaal en kopam ivarkalmael moolavum, naan ivarkalai aliththuppodavum nee ennai vittuvidu; unnai oru periya jaathiyaakkuvaen entar. Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

11 Moses than thaevanaakiya karththarai Nnokki: karththaavae, thaevareer makaa palaththinaalum vallamaiyulla kaiyinaalum ekipthu thaesaththilirunthu purappadappannnnina ummutaiya janangalukku virothamaaka ummutaiya kopam pattiyerivathenna? And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

12 Malaikalil avarkalaik kontu podavum, poomiyinmael iraathapatikku avarkalai nirmoolamaakkavum, avarkalukkuth theenguseyyumporuttaே avarkalaip purappadappannnninaar entu ekipthiyar solluvaanaen? Ummutaiya kopaththin ukkiraththai vittuth thirumpi, umathu janangalukkuth theenguseyyaathapatikku, avarkalmael parithaapangaொllum. Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? 13 Umathu thaasaraakiya aapirakaamaiyum eesaakkaiyum isravaelaiyum ninaiththarulum: ungal santhathiyai vaanaththu natchaththirangalaippolap perukappannnni, naan sonna inthath thaesam muluvathaiyum ungal santhathiyaar entaikkum suthanthariththukkollumpatikku, avarkalukkuk koduppaen entu ummaikkonntae avarkalukku aannaiyittuch sonneerae entu kenjip piraarththiththaan. 15 Pinpu Moses malaiyilirunthu iranginaan; saatchippalakaikal iranndum avan kaiyil irunthathu; anthap palakaikal irupuramum eluthappattirunthathu, avaikal inthap pakkaththilum anthap pakkaththilum eluthappattirunthathu. And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

16 Anthap palakaikal thaevanaal seyyappattathaayum, avaikalilae pathintha eluththu thaevanaal eluthappatta eluththumaayirunthathu. And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

17 Janangal aaravaaram pannnukirathai yosuvaa kaettu, Mosesyai Nnokki: paalayaththil yuththaththin iraichchal unndaayirukkirathu entan. And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

18 Atharku Moses; athu jeyathoniyaakiya saththamum alla, apajeyathoniyaakiya saththamum alla; paadalin saththam enakkuk kaetkirathu entan. And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

19 Avan paalayaththukkuch sameepiththu, anthak kantukkuttiyaiyum nadanaththaiyum kanndapothu, Moses kopam moonndavanaaki, than kaiyilae iruntha palakaikalai malaiyin atiyilae erinthu utaiththuppottu; And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

20 Avarkal unndupannnnina kantukkuttiyai eduththu, akkiniyil sutteriththu, athaip potiyaaka araiththu, thannnneerinmael thoovi, athai Israel puththirar kutikkumpati seythaan. And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strewed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

21 Pinpu, Moses aaronai Nnokki: nee intha janangalmael inthap perumpaathakaththaich sumaththukiratharku, ivarkal unakku enna seythaarkal entan. And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?

22 Atharku aaron: en aanndavanukkuk kopam moolaathiruppathaaka; ithu pollaatha janam entu neer arinthirukkireer. And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.

23 Ivarkal ennai Nnokki: engalukku munsellum theyvangalai engalukku unndupannnum; ekipthu thaesaththilirunthu engalai alaiththukkonnduvantha antha Moseskku enna sampaviththatho ariyom entarkal. And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.

28 Laeviyin puththirar Moses sonnapatiyae seythaarkal; annaalil janangalil aerakkuraiya moovaayirampaer vilunthaarkal. And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

29 Karththar intaikku ungalukku aaseervaatham alikkumpati, intaikku neengal avanavan thanthan makanukkum sakotharanukkum virothamaayirukkirathinaal, karththarukku ungalaip pirathishtai pannnungal entu Moses solliyirunthaan. For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

30 Maraுnaalil Moses janangalai Nnokki: neengal makaa periya paavanjaெytheerkal; ungalukkaakap paavanivirththi seyyakkoodumo entu ariya ippoluthu naan karththaridaththirku aerippokiraேn entan. And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.

31 Appatiyae Moses karththaridaththirkuth thirumpippoy: aiyo, intha janangal ponninaal thangalukkuth theyvangalai unndaakki, makaa periya paavam seythirukkiraarkal. And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

32 Aakilum, thaevareer avarkal paavaththai manniththaruluveeraanaal manniththarulum; illaavittal neer eluthina ummutaiya pusthakaththilirunthu en paeraik kiraுkkippodum entan. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

33 Appoluthu Karththar Mosesyai Nnokki: enakku virothamaayp paavam seythavan evano, avan paerai en pusthakaththilirunthu kiraுkkippoduvaen. And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

34 Ippoluthu nee poy, naan unakkuch sonna idaththukku janangalai alaiththukkonndupo; en thoothanaanavar unakkumun selluvaar; aakilum, naan visaarikkum naalil avarkalutaiya paavaththai avarkalidaththil visaarippaen entar. Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
