1 ஒரு ஓய்வுநாளிலே பரிசேயரில் தலைவனாகிய ஒருவனுடைய வீட்டிலே அவர் போஜனம் பண்ணும்படிக்குப் போயிருந்தார். And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.

2 அப்பொழுது நீர்க்கோவை வியாதியுள்ள ஒரு மனுஷன் அவருக்கு முன்பாக இருந்தான். என்ன செய்வாரோவென்று ஜனங்கள் அவர் மேல் நோக்கமாயிருந்தார்கள். And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.

3 இயேசு நியாயசாஸ்திரிகளையும் பரிசேயரையும் பார்த்து: ஒய்வுநாளிலே சொஸ்தமாக்குகிறது நியாயமா என்று கேட்டார். And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

4 அதற்கு அவர்கள் பேசாமலிருந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவர் அவனை அழைத்து, சொஸ்தமாக்கி, அனுப்பிவிட்டு, And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;

5 அவர்களை நோக்கி: உங்களில் ஒருவனுடைய கழுதையாவது எருதாவது ஓய்வுநாளில் துரவிலே விழுந்தால், அவன் அதை உடனே தூக்கிவிடானோ என்றார். And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

6 அதற்கு உத்தரவுசொல்ல அவர்களால் கூடாமற்போயிற்று. And they could not answer him again to these things.

7 விருந்துக்கு அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் பந்தியில் முதன்மையான இடங்களைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டதை அவர் பார்த்து, அவர்களுக்கு ஒரு உவமையைச் சொன்னார்: And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.

8 ஒருவனால் கலியாணத்துக்கு நீ அழைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்போது, பந்தியில் முதன்மையான இடத்தில் உட்காராதே; உன்னிலும் கனமுள்ளவன் ஒருவேளை அவனால் அழைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பான். When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;

9 அப்பொழுது உன்னையும் அவனையும் அழைத்தவன் உன்னிடத்தில் வந்து: இவருக்கு இடங்கொடு என்பான்; அப்பொழுது நீ வெட்கத்தோடே தாழ்ந்த இடத்திற்குப் போகவேண்டியதாயிருக்கும். And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

10 நீ அழைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்போது, போய், தாழ்ந்த இடத்தில் உட்காரு; அப்பொழுது உன்னை அழைத்தவன் வந்து: சிநேகிதனே, உயர்ந்த இடத்தில் வாரும் என்று சொல்லும்போது, உன்னுடனேகூடப் பந்தியிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக உனக்குக் கனமுண்டாகும். But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

11 தன்னைத் தான் உயர்த்துகிறவனெவனும் தாழ்த்தப்படுவான், தன்னைத்தான் தாழ்த்துகிறவன் உயர்த்தப்படுவான் என்றார். For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

12 அன்றியும் அவர் தம்மை விருந்துக்கு அழைத்தவனை நோக்கி: நீ பகல்விருந்தாவது இராவிருந்தாவது பண்ணும்போது, உன் சிநேகிதரையாகிலும் உன் சகோதரரையாகிலும், உன் பந்து ஜனங்களையாகிலும், ஐசுவரியமுள்ள அயலகத்தாரையாகிலும் அழைக்கவேண்டாம்; அழைத்தால் அவர்களும் உன்னை அழைப்பார்கள், அப்பொழுது உனக்குப் பதிலுக்குப் பதில் செய்ததாகும். Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

13 நீ விருந்துபண்ணும்போது ஏழைகளையும் ஊனரையும் சப்பாணிகளையும் குருடரையும் அழைப்பாயாக. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

14 அப்பொழுது நீ பாக்கியவானாயிருப்பாய்; அவர்கள் உனக்குப் பதில் செய்யமாட்டார்கள்; நீதிமான்களின் உயிர்த்தெழுதலில் உனக்குப் பதில் செய்யப்படும் என்றார். And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

15 அவரோடேகூடப் பந்தியிருந்தவர்களில் ஒருவன் இவைகளைக் கேட்டபொழுது, அவரை நோக்கி: தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தில் போஜனம்பண்ணுகிறவன் பாக்கியவான் என்றார். And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

16 அதற்கு அவர்: ஒரு மனுஷன் பெரியவிருந்தை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணி, அநேகரை அழைப்பித்தான். Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

17 விருந்து வேளையில் தன் ஊழியக்காரனை நோக்கி: நீ அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களிடத்தில் போய், எல்லாம் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறது, வாருங்கள், என்று சொல்லென்று அவனை அனுப்பினான். And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

18 அவர்களெல்லாரும் போக்குச்சொல்லத் தொடங்கினார்கள். ஒருவன்: ஒரு வயலைக்கொண்டேன், நான் அகத்தியமாய்ப்போய், அதைப் பார்க்கவேண்டும், என்னை மன்னிக்கும்படி வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்றான். And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

19 வேறொருவன்: ஐந்தேர்மாடு கொண்டேன், அதைச் சோதித்துப் பார்க்கும்படி போகிறேன், என்னை மன்னிக்கும்படி வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்றான். And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

20 வேறொருவன்: பெண்ணை விவாகம் பண்ணினேன், அதினால் நான் வரக்கூடாது என்றான். And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

21 அந்த ஊழியக்காரன் வந்து, இவைகளைத் தன் எஜமானுக்கு அறிவித்தான்; அப்பொழுது வீட்டெஜமான் கோபமடைந்து, தன் ஊழியக்காரனை நோக்கி: நீ பட்டணத்தின் தெருக்களிலும் வீதிகளிலும் சீக்கிரமாய்ப்போய், ஏழைகளையும் ஊனரையும் சப்பாணிகளையும் குருடரையும் இங்கே கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவா என்றான். So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

22 ஊழியக்காரன் அப்படியே செய்து: ஆண்டவரே, நீர் கட்டளையிட்டபடி செய்தாயிற்று, இன்னும் இடம் இருக்கிறது என்றான். And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

23 அப்பொழுது எஜமான் ஊழியக்காரனை நோக்கி: நீ பெருவழிகளிலும் வேலிகளருகிலும் போய், என் வீடு நிறையும்படியாக ஜனங்களை உள்ளே வரும்படி வருந்திக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவா; And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

24 அழைக்கப்ட்டிருந்த அந்த மனுஷரில் ஒருவனாகிலும் என் விருந்தை ருசிபார்ப்பதில்லை என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான் என்று சொன்னார். For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

25 பின்பு அநேக ஜனங்கள் அவரோடேகூடப் பிரயாணமாய்ப் போகையில், அவர்களிடήாய் அவர் திரும்பிப்பார்த்Τு: And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,

26 யாதொருவன் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து, தன் தகப்பனையும் தாயையும் மனைவியையும் பிள்ளைகளையும் சகோதரனையும் சகோதரிகளையும், தன் ஜீவனையும் வெறுக்காவிட்டால் எனக்குச் சீஷனாயிருக்கமாட்டான். If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

27 தன் சிலுவையைச் சுமந்துகொண்டு எனக்குப் பின்செல்லாதவன் எனக்குச் சீஷனாயிருக்கமாட்டான். And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

28 உங்களில் ஒருவன் ஒரு கோபுரத்தைக் கட்ட மனதாயிருந்து, For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

29 அஸ்திபாரம் போட்டபின்பு முடிக்கத் திராணியில்லாமற்போனால், பார்க்கிறவர்களெல்லாரும்: Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

30 இந்த மனுஷன் கட்டத்தொடங்கி முடிக்கத் திராணியில்லாமற்போனான் என்று சொல்லித் தன்னைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணாதபடிக்கு, அதைக் கட்டித் தீர்க்கிறதற்குத் தனக்கு நிர்வாகமுண்டோ இல்லையோ என்று முன்பு அவன் உட்கார்ந்து செல்லுஞ்செலவைக் கணக்குப்பாராமலிருப்பானோ? Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

31 அன்றியும் ஒரு ராஜா மற்றொரு ராஜாவோடே யுத்தஞ்செய்யப் போகிறபோது, தன்மேல் இருபதினாயிரம் சேவகரோடே வருகிற அவனைத் தான் பதினாயிரம் சேவகரைக்கொண்டு எதிர்க்கக் கூடுமோ கூடாதோ என்று முன்பு உட்கார்ந்து ஆலோசனைபண்ணாமலிருப்பானோ? Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

32 கூடாதென்று கண்டால், மற்றவன் இன்னும் தூரத்திலிருக்கும்போதே, ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி சமாதானத்துக்கானவைகளைக் கேட்டுக்கொள்வானே. Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

33 அப்படியே உங்களில் எவனாகிலும் தனக்கு உண்டானவைகளையெல்லாம் வெறுத்துவிடாவிட்டால் அவன் எனக்குச் சீஷனாயிருக்கமாட்டான். So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

34 உப்பு நல்லதுதான், உப்பு சாரமற்றுப்போனால் எதினால் சாரமாக்கப்படும்? Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?

35 அது நிலத்துக்காகிலும் எருவுக்காகிலும் உதவாது, அதை வெளியே கொட்டிப்போடுவார்கள். கேட்கிறதற்குக் காதுள்ளவன் கேட்கக்கடவன் என்றார். It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

1 Oru oyvunaalilae pariseyaril thalaivanaakiya oruvanutaiya veettilae avar pojanam pannnumpatikkup poyirunthaar. And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.

2 Appoluthu neerkkovai viyaathiyulla oru manushan avarukku munpaaka irunthaan. Enna seyvaaroventu janangal avar mael Nnokkamaayirunthaarkal. And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.

3 Yesu niyaayasaasthirikalaiyum pariseyaraiyum paarththu: oyvunaalilae sosthamaakkukirathu niyaayamaa entu kaettar. And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

4 Atharku avarkal paesaamalirunthaarkal. Appoluthu avar avanai alaiththu, sosthamaakki, anuppivittu, And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;

5 Avarkalai Nnokki: ungalil oruvanutaiya kaluthaiyaavathu eruthaavathu oyvunaalil thuravilae vilunthaal, avan athai udanae thookkividaano entar. And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

6 Atharku uththaravusolla avarkalaal koodaamarpoyittaு. And they could not answer him again to these things.

7 Virunthukku alaikkappattavarkal panthiyil muthanmaiyaana idangalaith therinthukonndathai avar paarththu, avarkalukku oru uvamaiyaich sonnaar: And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.

8 Oruvanaal kaliyaanaththukku nee alaikkappattirukkumpothu, panthiyil muthanmaiyaana idaththil utkaaraathae; unnilum kanamullavan oruvaelai avanaal alaikkappattiruppaan. When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;

9 Appoluthu unnaiyum avanaiyum alaiththavan unnidaththil vanthu: ivarukku idangaொdu enpaan; appoluthu nee vetkaththotae thaalntha idaththirkup pokavaenntiyathaayirukkum. And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

10 Nee alaikkappattirukkumpothu, poy, thaalntha idaththil utkaaru; appoluthu unnai alaiththavan vanthu: sinaekithanae, uyarntha idaththil vaarum entu sollumpothu, unnudanaekoodap panthiyirukkiravarkalukku munpaaka unakkuk kanamunndaakum. But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

11 Thannaith thaan uyarththukiravanevanum thaalththappaduvaan, thannaiththaan thaalththukiravan uyarththappaduvaan entar. For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

12 Antiyum avar thammai virunthukku alaiththavanai Nnokki: nee pakalvirunthaavathu iraavirunthaavathu pannnumpothu, un sinaekitharaiyaakilum un sakothararaiyaakilum, un panthu janangalaiyaakilum, aisuvariyamulla ayalakaththaaraiyaakilum alaikkavaenndaam; alaiththaal avarkalum unnai alaippaarkal, appoluthu unakkup pathilukkup pathil seythathaakum. Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

13 Nee virunthupannnumpothu aelaikalaiyum oonaraiyum sappaannikalaiyum kurudaraiyum alaippaayaaka. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

14 Appoluthu nee paakkiyavaanaayiruppaay; avarkal unakkup pathil seyyamaattarkal; neethimaankalin uyirththeluthalil unakkup pathil seyyappadum entar. And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

15 Avarotaekoodap panthiyirunthavarkalil oruvan ivaikalaik kaettapoluthu, avarai Nnokki: thaevanutaiya raajyaththil pojanampannnukiravan paakkiyavaan entar. And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

16 Atharku avar: oru manushan periyavirunthai aayaththampannnni, anaekarai alaippiththaan. Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

17 Virunthu vaelaiyil than ooliyakkaaranai Nnokki: nee alaikkappattavarkalidaththil poy, ellaam aayaththamaayirukkirathu, vaarungal, entu sollentu avanai anuppinaan. And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

18 Avarkalellaarum pokkuchchaொllath thodanginaarkal. Oruvan: oru vayalaikkonntaen, naan akaththiyamaayppoy, athaip paarkkavaenndum, ennai mannikkumpati vaenntikkollukiraேn entan. And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

19 Vaeroruvan: ainthaermaadu konntaen, athaich sothiththup paarkkumpati pokiraேn, ennai mannikkumpati vaenntikkollukiraேn entan. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

20 Vaeroruvan: pennnnai vivaakam pannnninaen, athinaal naan varakkoodaathu entan. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

21 Antha ooliyakkaaran vanthu, ivaikalaith than ejamaanukku ariviththaan; appoluthu veettejamaan kopamatainthu, than ooliyakkaaranai Nnokki: nee pattanaththin therukkalilum veethikalilum seekkiramaayppoy, aelaikalaiyum oonaraiyum sappaannikalaiyum kurudaraiyum ingae koottikkonnduvaa entan. So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

22 Ooliyakkaaran appatiyae seythu: aanndavarae, neer kattalaiyittapati seythaayittaு, innum idam irukkirathu entan. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

23 Appoluthu ejamaan ooliyakkaaranai Nnokki: nee peruvalikalilum vaelikalarukilum poy, en veedu niraiyumpatiyaaka janangalai ullae varumpati varunthik koottikkonnduvaa; And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

24 Alaikkapttiruntha antha manusharil oruvanaakilum en virunthai rusipaarppathillai entu ungalukkuch sollukiraேn entan entu sonnaar. For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

25 Pinpu anaeka janangal avarotaekoodap pirayaanamaayp pokaiyil, avarkalidaήாy avar thirumpippaarthΤு: And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,

26 Yaathoruvan ennidaththil vanthu, than thakappanaiyum thaayaiyum manaiviyaiyum pillaikalaiyum sakotharanaiyum sakotharikalaiyum, than jeevanaiyum veraுkkaavittal enakkuch seeshanaayirukkamaattan. If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

27 Than siluvaiyaich sumanthukonndu enakkup pinsellaathavan enakkuch seeshanaayirukkamaattan. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

28 Ungalil oruvan oru kopuraththaik katta manathaayirunthu, For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

29 Asthipaaram pottapinpu mutikkath thiraanniyillaamarponaal, paarkkiravarkalellaarum: Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

30 Intha manushan kattaththodangi mutikkath thiraanniyillaamarponaan entu sollith thannaip pariyaasampannnnaathapatikku, athaik kattith theerkkiratharkuth thanakku nirvaakamunntoo illaiyo entu munpu avan utkaarnthu sellunjaெlavaik kanakkuppaaraamaliruppaano? Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

31 Antiyum oru raajaa mattaொru raajaavotae yuththanjaெyyap pokirapothu, thanmael irupathinaayiram sevakarotae varukira avanaith thaan pathinaayiram sevakaraikkonndu ethirkkak koodumo koodaatho entu munpu utkaarnthu aalosanaipannnnaamaliruppaano? 32 Koodaathentu kanndaal, mattavan innum thooraththilirukkumpothae, sthaanaapathikalai anuppi samaathaanaththukkaanavaikalaik kaettukkolvaanae. Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

33 Appatiyae ungalil evanaakilum thanakku unndaanavaikalaiyellaam veraுththuvidaavittal avan enakkuch seeshanaayirukkamaattan. So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

34 Uppu nallathuthaan, uppu saaramattaுpponaal ethinaal saaramaakkappadum? Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?

35 Athu nilaththukkaakilum eruvukkaakilum uthavaathu, athai veliyae kottippoduvaarkal. Kaetkiratharkuk kaathullavan kaetkakkadavan entar. It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
