1 மறுவருஷம் ராஜாக்கள் யுத்தத்திற்குப் புறப்படுங்காலம் வந்தபோது, தாவீது யோவாபையும், அவனோடேகூடத் தன் சேவகரையும், இஸ்ரவேல் அனைத்தையும், அம்மோன் புத்திரரை அழிக்கவும், ரப்பாவை முற்றிக்கைபோடவும் அனுப்பினான். தாவீதோ எருசலேமில் இருந்துவிட்டான். And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.

2 ஒருநாள் சாயங்காலத்தில் தாவீது தன் படுக்கையிலிருந்து எழுந்து, அரமனை உப்பரிகையின்மேல் உலாத்திக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது, ஸ்நானம்பண்ணுகிற ஒரு ஸ்திரீயை உப்பரிகையின்மேலிருந்து கண்டான்; அந்த ஸ்திரீ வெகு செளந்தரவதியாயிருந்தாள். And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

3 அப்பொழுது தாவீது, அந்த ஸ்திரீ யார் என்று விசாரிக்க ஆள் அனுப்பினான்; அவள் எலியாமின் குமாரத்தியும், ஏத்தியனான உரியாவின் மனைவியுமாகிய பத்சேபாள் என்றார்கள். And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

4 அப்பொழுது தாவீது ஆள் அனுப்பி அவளை அழைத்துவரச்சொன்னான்; அவள் அவனிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, அவளோடே சயனித்தான்; பிற்பாடு அவள் தன் தீட்டு நீங்கும்படி சுத்திகரித்துக்கொண்டு தன் வீட்டுக்குப் போனாள். And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.

5 அந்த ஸ்திரீ கர்ப்பம் தரித்து, தான் கர்ப்பவதியென்று தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படி ஆள் அனுப்பினாள். And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

6 அப்பொழுது தாவீது: ஏத்தியனாகிய உரியாவை என்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பு என்று யோவாபினண்டைக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பினான்; அப்படியே யோவாப் உரியாவைத் தாவீதினிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பினான். And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.

7 உரியா அவனிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, தாவீது அவனைப் பார்த்து: யோவாப் சுகமாயிருக்கிறானா, ஜனங்கள் சுகமாயிருக்கிறார்களா, யுத்தத்தின் செய்தி நற்செய்தியா என்று விசாரித்தான். And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.

8 பின்பு தாவீது உரியாவை நோக்கி: நீ உன் வீட்டிற்குப் போய், பாதசுத்தி செய் என்றான்; உரியா ராஜ அரமனையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டபோது, ராஜாவினிடத்திலிருந்து உச்சிதமான பதார்த்தங்கள் அவன் பின்னாலே அனுப்பப்பட்டது. And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king.

9 ஆனாலும் உரியா தன் வீட்டிற்குப்போகாமல், ராஜ அரமனையின் வாசலிலே தன் ஆண்டவனுடைய எல்லாச் சேவகரோடுங்கூட படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான். But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.

10 உரியா தன் வீட்டிற்குப் போகவில்லையென்று தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, தாவீது உரியாவை நோக்கி: நீ பயணத்திலிருந்து வந்தவன் அல்லவா?, நீ உன் வீட்டிற்குப் போகாதிருக்கிறது என்ன என்று கேட்டான். And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from thy journey? why then didst thou not go down unto thine house?

11 உரியா தாவீதை நோக்கி: பெட்டியும் இஸ்ரவேலும் யூதாவும் கூடாரங்களிலே தங்கி, என் ஆண்டவனாகிய யோவாபும், என் ஆண்டவனின் சேவகரும் வெளியிலே பாளயமிறங்கியிருக்கையில், நான் புசிக்கிறதற்கும், குடிக்கிறதற்கும், என் மனைவியோடே சயனிக்கிறதற்கும், என் வீட்டுக்குள் பிரவேசிப்பேனோ? நான் அப்படிச் செய்கிறதில்லை என்று உம்முடைய பேரிலும் உம்முடைய ஆத்துமாவின்பேரிலும் ஆணையிட்டுச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான். And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.

12 அப்பொழுது தாவீது உரியாவை நோக்கி: இன்றைக்கும் நீ இங்கேயிரு; நாளைக்கு உன்னை அனுப்பிவிடுவேன் என்றான்; அப்படியே உரியா அன்றும் மறுநாளும் எருசலேமில் இருந்தான். And David said to Uriah, Tarry here to day also, and to morrow I will let thee depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow.

13 தாவீது அவனைத் தனக்கு முன்பாகப் புசித்துக் குடிக்கிறதற்கு அழைத்து, அவனை வெறிக்கப்பண்ணினான்; ஆனாலும் அவன் தன் வீட்டுக்குப் போகாமல், சாயங்காலத்திலே தன் ஆண்டவனின் சேவகரோடே தன் படுக்கையிலே படுத்துக்கொண்டான். And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk: and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.

14 காலமே தாவீது யோவாபுக்கு ஒரு நிருபத்தை எழுதி, உரியாவின் கையில் கொடுத்து அனுப்பினான். And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.

15 அந்த நிருபத்திலே: மும்முரமாய் நடக்கிற போர்முகத்திலே நீங்கள் உரியாவை நிறுத்தி, அவன் வெட்டுண்டு சாகும்படிக்கு, அவனை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்குங்கள் என்று எழுதியிருந்தான். And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.

16 அப்படியே யோவாப் அந்தப் பட்டணத்தைச் சூழக் காவல்போட்டிருக்கையில் பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் இருக்கிறார்களென்று தான் அறிந்த இடத்தில் உரியாவை நிறுத்தினான். And it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah unto a place where he knew that valiant men were.

17 பட்டணத்து மனுஷர் புறப்பட்டுவந்து யோவாபோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணுகையில், தாவீதின் சேவகராகிய ஜனத்தில் சிலர் பட்டார்கள்; ஏத்தியனாகிய உரியாவும் செத்தான். And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.

18 அப்பொழுது யோவாப் அந்த யுத்தத்தின் செய்திகளையெல்லாம் தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்க ஆள் அனுப்பி, Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;

19 தான் அனுப்புகிற ஆளை நோக்கி: நீ யுத்தத்தின் செய்திகளையெல்லாம் ராஜாவுக்குச் சொல்லித் தீர்ந்தபோது, And charged the messenger, saying, When thou hast made an end of telling the matters of the war unto the king,

20 ராஜாவுக்குக் கோபம் எழும்பி, அவர்: நீங்கள் பட்டணத்திற்கு இத்தனை கிட்டப்போய் யுத்தம்பண்ணவேண்டியது என்ன? அலங்கத்தில் நின்று எய்வார்கள் என்று உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாதா? And if so be that the king's wrath arise, and he say unto thee, Wherefore approached ye so nigh unto the city when ye did fight? knew ye not that they would shoot from the wall?

21 எருப்பேசேத்தின் குமாரன் அபிமெலேக்கைக் கொன்றது யார்? தேபேசிலே ஒரு பெண்பிள்ளை அலங்கத்திலிருந்து ஒரு ஏந்திரக்கல்லின் துண்டை அவன்மேல் போட்டதினால் அல்லவோ அவன் செத்தான்; நீங்கள் அலங்கத்திற்கு இத்தனை கிட்டப்போனது என்ன என்று உன்னோடே சொன்னால், அப்பொழுது நீ, உம்முடைய சேவகனாகிய உரியா என்னும் ஏத்தியனும் செத்தான் என்று சொல் என்றான். Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went ye nigh the wall? then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.

22 அந்த ஆள் போய், உட்பிரவேசித்து, யோவாப் தன்னிடத்தில் சொல்லியனுப்பின செய்திகளையெல்லாம் தாவீதுக்கு அறிவித்து, So the messenger went, and came and showed David all that Joab had sent him for.

23 தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: அந்த மனுஷர் கைமிஞ்சி, அவர்கள் வெளியே எங்களுக்கு எதிராகப் புறப்பட்டு வந்தபோது, நாங்கள் பட்டணவாசல்மட்டும் அவர்களைத் துரத்தினோம். And the messenger said unto David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon them even unto the entering of the gate.

24 அப்பொழுது வில்வீரர் அலங்கத்திலிருந்து உம்முடைய சேவகரின்மேல் எய்ததினால், ராஜாவின் சேவகரில் சிலர் செத்தார்கள்; உம்முடைய சேவகனாகிய உரியா என்னும் ஏத்தியனும் செத்தான் என்றான். And the shooters shot from off the wall upon thy servants; and some of the king's servants be dead, and thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.

25 அப்பொழுது தாவீது அந்த ஆளை நோக்கி: நீ யோவாபினிடத்தில் போய், இந்தக் காரியத்தைப்பற்றி விசாரப்படவேண்டாம்; பட்டயம் ஒருவேளை ஒருவனையும், ஒருவேளை மற்றொருவனையும் பட்சிக்கும்; நீ யுத்தத்தைப் பலக்கப்பண்ணி பட்டணத்தை இடித்துப்போடு என்று அவனுக்குத் திடஞ்சொல் என்றான். Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.

26 தன் புருஷனாகிய உரியா செத்தான் என்று அவன் மனைவி கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவள் தன் நாயகனுக்காக இழவு கொண்டாடினாள். And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.

27 துக்கநாள் சென்றபின்பு, தாவீது அவளை அழைத்தனுப்பி, தன் வீட்டிலே சேர்த்துக்கொண்டான்; அவள் அவனுக்கு மனைவியாகி அவனுக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள். தாவீது செய்த இந்தக் காரியம் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாததாயிருந்தது. And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.

1 Maraுvarusham raajaakkal yuththaththirkup purappadungaalam vanthapothu, David yovaapaiyum, avanotaekoodath than sevakaraiyum, Israel anaiththaiyum, ammon puththirarai alikkavum, rappaavai muttikkaipodavum anuppinaan. Thaaveetho erusalaemil irunthuvittan. And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

3 Appoluthu David, antha sthiree yaar entu visaarikka aal anuppinaan; aval eliyaamin kumaaraththiyum, aeththiyanaana uriyaavin manaiviyumaakiya pathsepaal entarkal. 4 Appoluthu David aal anuppi avalai alaiththuvarachchaொnnaan; aval avanidaththil vanthapothu, avalotae sayaniththaan; pirpaadu aval than theettu neengumpati suththikariththukkonndu than veettukkup ponaal. And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.

5 Antha sthiree karppam thariththu, thaan karppavathiyentu Davidkku arivikkumpati aal anuppinaal. And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

6 Appoluthu David: aeththiyanaakiya uriyaavai ennidaththil anuppu entu yovaapinanntaikku aal anuppinaan; appatiyae yovaap uriyaavaith thaaveethinidaththirku anuppinaan. And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.

7 Uriyaa avanidaththil vanthapothu, David avanaip paarththu: yovaap sukamaayirukkiraanaa, janangal sukamaayirukkiraarkalaa, yuththaththin seythi narseythiyaa entu visaariththaan. And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.

8 Pinpu David uriyaavai Nnokki: nee un veettirkup poy, paathasuththi sey entan; uriyaa raaja aramanaiyilirunthu purappattapothu, raajaavinidaththilirunthu uchchithamaana pathaarththangal avan pinnaalae anuppappattathu. And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king.

9 Aanaalum uriyaa than veettirkuppokaamal, raaja aramanaiyin vaasalilae than aanndavanutaiya ellaach sevakarodungaூda paduththukkonntirunthaan. But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.

10 Uriyaa than veettirkup pokavillaiyentu Davidkku arivikkappattapothu, David uriyaavai Nnokki: nee payanaththilirunthu vanthavan allavaa?, nee un veettirkup pokaathirukkirathu enna entu kaettan. And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from thy journey? why then didst thou not go down unto thine house?

11 Uriyaa thaaveethai Nnokki: pettiyum isravaelum yoothaavum koodaarangalilae thangi, en aanndavanaakiya yovaapum, en aanndavanin sevakarum veliyilae paalayamirangiyirukkaiyil, naan pusikkiratharkum, kutikkiratharkum, en manaiviyotae sayanikkiratharkum, en veettukkul piravaesippaeno? Naan appatich seykirathillai entu ummutaiya paerilum ummutaiya aaththumaavinpaerilum aannaiyittuch sollukiraேn entan. And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.

12 Appoluthu David uriyaavai Nnokki: intaikkum nee ingaeyiru; naalaikku unnai anuppividuvaen entan; appatiyae uriyaa antum maraுnaalum erusalaemil irunthaan. And David said to Uriah, Tarry here to day also, and to morrow I will let thee depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow.

13 David avanaith thanakku munpaakap pusiththuk kutikkiratharku alaiththu, avanai verikkappannnninaan; aanaalum avan than veettukkup pokaamal, saayangaalaththilae than aanndavanin sevakarotae than padukkaiyilae paduththukkonndaan. 14 Kaalamae David yovaapukku oru nirupaththai eluthi, uriyaavin kaiyil koduththu anuppinaan. And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.

15 Antha nirupaththilae: mummuramaay nadakkira pormukaththilae neengal uriyaavai niraுththi, avan vettunndu saakumpatikku, avanai vittup pinvaangungal entu eluthiyirunthaan. 17 Pattanaththu manushar purappattuvanthu yovaapotae yuththampannnukaiyil, thaaveethin sevakaraakiya janaththil silar pattarkal; aeththiyanaakiya uriyaavum seththaan. And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.

18 Appoluthu yovaap antha yuththaththin seythikalaiyellaam Davidkku arivikka aal anuppi, Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;

19 Thaan anuppukira aalai Nnokki: nee yuththaththin seythikalaiyellaam raajaavukkuch sollith theernthapothu, And charged the messenger, saying, When thou hast made an end of telling the matters of the war unto the king,

20 Raajaavukkuk kopam elumpi, avar: neengal pattanaththirku iththanai kittappoy yuththampannnavaenntiyathu enna? Alangaththil nintu eyvaarkal entu ungalukkuth theriyaathaa? And if so be that the king's wrath arise, and he say unto thee, Wherefore approached ye so nigh unto the city when ye did fight? knew ye not that they would shoot from the wall?

21 Eruppaeseththin kumaaran apimelaekkaik kontathu yaar? Thaepaesilae oru pennpillai alangaththilirunthu oru aenthirakkallin thunntai avanmael pottathinaal allavo avan seththaan; neengal alangaththirku iththanai kittapponathu enna entu unnotae sonnaal, appoluthu nee, ummutaiya sevakanaakiya uriyaa ennum aeththiyanum seththaan entu sol entan. 23 Thaaveethaip paarththu: antha manushar kaiminji, avarkal veliyae engalukku ethiraakap purappattu vanthapothu, naangal pattanavaasalmattum avarkalaith thuraththinom. And the messenger said unto David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon them even unto the entering of the gate.

24 Appoluthu vilveerar alangaththilirunthu ummutaiya sevakarinmael eythathinaal, raajaavin sevakaril silar seththaarkal; ummutaiya sevakanaakiya uriyaa ennum aeththiyanum seththaan entan. 25 Appoluthu David antha aalai Nnokki: nee yovaapinidaththil poy, inthak kaariyaththaippatti visaarappadavaenndaam; pattayam oruvaelai oruvanaiyum, oruvaelai mattaொruvanaiyum patchikkum; nee yuththaththaip palakkappannnni pattanaththai itiththuppodu entu avanukkuth thidanjaொl entan. Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.

26 Than purushanaakiya uriyaa seththaan entu avan manaivi kaelvippattapothu, aval than naayakanukkaaka ilavu konndaatinaal. And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.

27 Thukkanaal sentapinpu, David avalai alaiththanuppi, than veettilae serththukkonndaan; aval avanukku manaiviyaaki avanukku oru kumaaranaip pettaாl. David seytha inthak kaariyam karththarin paarvaikkup pollaathathaayirunthathu. And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.
