1 கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 நான் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குக் கொடுக்கும் கானான்தேசத்தைச் சுற்றிப்பார்ப்பதற்கு நீ மனிதரை அனுப்பு; ஒவ்வொரு பிதாக்களின் கோத்திரத்திலும் ஒவ்வொரு பிரபுவாகிய புருஷனை அனுப்பவேண்டும் என்றார். Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

3 மோசே கர்த்தருடைய வாக்கின்படியே அவர்களைப் பாரான் வனாந்தரத்தலிருந்து அனுப்பினான்; அந்த மனிதர் யாவரும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் தலைவர்கள். And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

4 அவர்களுடைய நாமங்களாவன: ரூபன் கோத்திரத்தில் சக்கூரின் குமாரன் சம்முவா. And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

5 சிமியோன் கோத்திரத்தில் ஓரியின் குமாரன் சாப்பாத். Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.

6 யூதா கோத்திரத்தில் எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரன் காலேப். Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

7 இசக்கார் கோத்திரத்தில் யோசேப்பின் குமாரன் ஈகால். Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

8 எப்பிராயீம் கோத்திரத்தில் நூனின் குமாரன் ஓசேயா. Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.

9 பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தில் ரப்பூவின் குமாரன் பல்த்தி. Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.

10 செபுலோன் கோத்திரத்தில் சோதியின் குமாரன் காதியேல். Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.

11 யோசேப்பின் கோத்திரத்தைச் சேர்ந்த மனாசே கோத்திரத்தில் சூசின் குமாரன் காதி. Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

12 தாண் கோத்திரத்தில் கெமல்லியின் குமாரன் அம்மியேல். Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.

13 ஆசேர் கோத்திரத்தில் மிகாவேலின் குமாரன் சேத்தூர். Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.

14 நப்தலி கோத்திரத்தில் ஒப்பேசியின் குமாரன் நாகபி. Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

15 காத் கோத்திரத்தில் மாகியின் குமாரன் கூவேல். Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.

16 தேசத்தைச் சுற்றிப்பார்க்கும்படி மோசே அனுப்பின மனிதரின் நாமங்கள் இவைகளே; நூனின் குமாரனாகிய ஓசேயாவுக்கு யோசுவா என்று மோசே பேரிட்டிருந்தான். These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

17 அவர்களை மோசே கானான்தேசத்தைச் சுற்றிப்பார்க்கும்படி அனுப்புகையில், அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் இப்படித் தெற்கே போய், மலையில் ஏறி, And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

18 தேசம் எப்படிப்பட்டதென்றும், குடியிருக்கிற ஜனங்கள் பலவான்களோ பலவீனர்களோ, கொஞ்சம்பேரோ அநேகம்பேரோ என்றும், And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

19 அவர்கள் குடியிருக்கிற தேசம் எப்படிப்பட்டது, அது நல்லதோ கெட்டதோ என்றும், அவர்கள் பட்டணங்கள் எப்படிப்பட்டதென்றும், அவர்கள் கூடாரங்களில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களோ கோட்டைகளில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களோ என்றும், And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20 நிலம் எப்படிப்பட்டது, அது வளப்பமானதோ இளப்பமானதோ என்றும், அதில் விருட்சங்கள் உண்டோ இல்லையோ என்றும் பாருங்கள், தைரியங்கொண்டிருந்து, தேசத்தின் கனிகளிலே சிலவற்றைக் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான். அக்காலம் திராட்சச்செடி முதற்பழம் பழுக்கிற காலமாயிருந்தது. And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first ripe grapes.

21 அவர்கள் போய், சீன் வனாந்தரந்தொடங்கி, ஆமாத்துக்குப் போகிற வழியாகிய ரேகொப்மட்டும், தேசத்தைச் சுற்றிப்பார்த்து, So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

22 தெற்கேயும் சென்று, எபிரோன்மட்டும் போனார்கள்; அங்கே ஏனாக்கின் குமாரராகிய அகீமானும் சேசாயும் தல்மாயும் இருந்தார்கள். எபிரோன் எகிப்திலுள்ள சோவானுக்கு ஏழுவருஷத்திற்குமுன்னே கட்டப்பட்டது. And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

24 இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அங்கே அறுத்த திராட்சக்குலையினிமித்தம், அவ்விடம் எஸ்கோல் பள்ளத்தாக்கு என்னப்பட்டது. The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.

25 அவர்கள் தேசத்தைச் சுற்றிப்பார்த்து, நாற்பதுநாள் சென்றபின்பு திரும்பினார்கள். And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26 அவர்கள் பாரான் வனாந்தரத்தில் இருக்கிற காதேசுக்கு வந்து, மோசே ஆரோன் என்பவர்களிடத்திலும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சபையார் எல்லாரிடத்திலும் சேர்ந்து, அவர்களுக்கும் சபையாரனைவருக்கும் சமாசாரத்தை அறிவித்து, தேசத்தின் கனிகளை அவர்களுக்குக் காண்பித்தார்கள். And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.

27 அவர்கள் மோசேயை நோக்கி: நீர் எங்களை அனுப்பின தேசத்துக்கு நாங்கள் போய்வந்தோம்; அது பாலும் தேனும் ஓடுகிற தேசந்தான்; இது அதினுடைய கனி. And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28 ஆனாலும், அந்த தேசத்திலே குடியிருக்கிற ஜனங்கள் பலவான்கள்; பட்டணங்கள் அரணிப்பானவைகளும் மிகவும் பெரியவைகளுமாய் இருக்கிறது; அங்கே ஏனாக்கின் குமாரரையும் கண்டோம். Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

29 அமலேக்கியர் தென்புறமான தேசத்தில் குடியிருக்கிறார்கள்; ஏத்தியரும், எபூசியரும், எமோரியரும் மலைநாட்டில் குடியிருக்கிறார்கள்; கானானியர் கடல் அருகேயும் யோர்தானண்டையிலும் குடியிருக்கிறார்கள் என்றார்கள். The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30 அப்பொழுது காலேப் மோசேக்கு முன்பாக ஜனங்களை அமர்த்தி: நாம் உடனே போய் அதைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்வோம்; நாம் அதை எளிதாய் ஜெயித்துக்கொள்ளலாம் என்றான். And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 அவனோடேகூடப் போய்வந்த மனிதரோ நாம் போய் அந்த ஜனங்களோடே எதிர்க்க நம்மாலே கூடாது; அவர்கள் நம்மைப்பார்க்கிலும் பலவான்கள் என்றார்கள். But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 நாங்கள் போய்ச் சுற்றிப் பார்த்துவந்த அந்த தேசம் தன் குடிகளைப் பட்சிக்கிற தேசம் நாங்கள் அதிலே கண்ட ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் மிகவும் பெரிய ஆட்கள். And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

1 Karththar Mosesyai Nnokki: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Naan Israel puththirarukkuk kodukkum kaanaanthaesaththaich suttippaarppatharku nee manitharai anuppu; ovvoru pithaakkalin koththiraththilum ovvoru pirapuvaakiya purushanai anuppavaenndum entar. Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

3 Moses karththarutaiya vaakkinpatiyae avarkalaip paaraan vanaantharaththalirunthu anuppinaan; antha manithar yaavarum Israel puththirarin thalaivarkal. And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

4 Avarkalutaiya naamangalaavana: roopan koththiraththil sakkoorin kumaaran sammuvaa. And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

5 Simiyon koththiraththil oriyin kumaaran saappaath. Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.

6 Yoothaa koththiraththil eppunnaeyin kumaaran kaalaep. Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

7 Isakkaar koththiraththil yoseppin kumaaran eekaal. Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

8 Eppiraayeem koththiraththil noonin kumaaran oseyaa. Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.

9 Penyameen koththiraththil rappoovin kumaaran palththi. Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.

10 Sepulon koththiraththil sothiyin kumaaran kaathiyael. Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.

11 Yoseppin koththiraththaich serntha manaase koththiraththil soosin kumaaran kaathi. Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

12 Thaann koththiraththil kemalliyin kumaaran ammiyael. Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.

13 Aaser koththiraththil mikaavaelin kumaaran seththoor. Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.

14 Napthali koththiraththil oppaesiyin kumaaran naakapi. Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

15 Kaath koththiraththil maakiyin kumaaran koovael. Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.

16 Thaesaththaich suttippaarkkumpati Moses anuppina manitharin naamangal ivaikalae; noonin kumaaranaakiya oseyaavukku yosuvaa entu Moses paerittirunthaan. These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

17 Avarkalai Moses kaanaanthaesaththaich suttippaarkkumpati anuppukaiyil, avarkalai Nnokki: neengal ippatith therkae poy, malaiyil aeri, And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

18 Thaesam eppatippattathentum, kutiyirukkira janangal palavaankalo palaveenarkalo, konjampaero anaekampaero entum, And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

19 Avarkal kutiyirukkira thaesam eppatippattathu, athu nallatho kettatho entum, avarkal pattanangal eppatippattathentum, avarkal koodaarangalil kutiyirukkiravarkalo kottaைkalil kutiyirukkiravarkalo entum, And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20 Nilam eppatippattathu, athu valappamaanatho ilappamaanatho entum, athil virutchangal unntoo illaiyo entum paarungal, thairiyangaொnntirunthu, thaesaththin kanikalilae silavattaைk konnduvaarungal entan. Akkaalam thiraatchachcheti mutharpalam palukkira kaalamaayirunthathu. And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first ripe grapes.

21 Avarkal poy, seen vanaantharanthodangi, aamaaththukkup pokira valiyaakiya raekopmattum, thaesaththaich suttippaarththu, So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

22 Therkaeyum sentu, epironmattum ponaarkal; angae aenaakkin kumaararaakiya ageemaanum sesaayum thalmaayum irunthaarkal. Epiron ekipthilulla sovaanukku aeluvarushaththirkumunnae kattappattathu. And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23 Pinpu, avarkal eskol pallaththaakkumattum poy, angae orae kulaiyulla thiraatchakkotiyai araுththaarkal; athai oru thatiyilae iranndupaer kattith thookkikkonnduvanthaarkal: maathalampalangalilum aththippalangalilum silavattaைk konnduvanthaarkal. 24 Israel puththirar angae araுththa thiraatchakkulaiyinimiththam, avvidam eskol pallaththaakku ennappattathu. The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.

25 Avarkal thaesaththaich suttippaarththu, naarpathunaal sentapinpu thirumpinaarkal. And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26 Avarkal paaraan vanaantharaththil irukkira kaathaesukku vanthu, Moses aaron enpavarkalidaththilum Israel puththiraraakiya Sabaiyaar ellaaridaththilum sernthu, avarkalukkum Sabaiyaaranaivarukkum samaasaaraththai ariviththu, thaesaththin kanikalai avarkalukkuk kaannpiththaarkal. And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.

27 Avarkal Mosesyai Nnokki: neer engalai anuppina thaesaththukku naangal poyvanthom; athu paalum thaenum odukira thaesanthaan; ithu athinutaiya kani. And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28 Aanaalum, antha thaesaththilae kutiyirukkira janangal palavaankal; pattanangal arannippaanavaikalum mikavum periyavaikalumaay irukkirathu; angae aenaakkin kumaararaiyum kanntoom. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

29 Amalaekkiyar thenpuramaana thaesaththil kutiyirukkiraarkal; aeththiyarum, epoosiyarum, emoriyarum malainaattil kutiyirukkiraarkal; kaanaaniyar kadal arukaeyum yorthaananntaiyilum kutiyirukkiraarkal entarkal. 30 Appoluthu kaalaep Moseskku munpaaka janangalai amarththi: naam udanae poy athaich suthanthariththukkolvom; naam athai elithaay jeyiththukkollalaam entan. And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 Avanotaekoodap poyvantha manitharo naam poy antha janangalotae ethirkka nammaalae koodaathu; avarkal nammaippaarkkilum palavaankal entarkal. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 Naangal poych suttip paarththuvantha antha thaesam than kutikalaip patchikkira thaesam naangal athilae kannda janangal ellaarum mikavum periya aatkal. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
