1 Samuel 4 in Tamil

1 சாமுவேலின் வார்த்தை இஸ்ரவேலுக்கெல்லாம் வந்தது. இஸ்ரவேலர் பெலிஸ்தருக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தஞ்செய்யப்புறப்பட்டு, எபெனேசருக்குச் சமீபத்தில் பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்; பெலிஸ்தரோ ஆப்பெக்கிலே பாளயமிறங்கியிருந்தார்கள். And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and pitched beside Ebenezer: and the Philistines pitched in Aphek.

2 பெலிஸ்தர் இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு விரோதமாய் அணிவகுத்து நின்றார்கள்; யுத்தம் அதிகரித்து, இஸ்ரவேலர் பெலிஸ்தருக்கு முன்பாக முறிய அடிக்கப்பட்டார்கள்; அவர்கள் சேனையில் போர்க்களத்திலே ஏறக்குறைய நாலாயிரம்பேர் வெட்டுண்டுபோனார்கள். And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in the field about four thousand men.

3 ஜனங்கள் திரும்பப் பாளயத்துக்கு வந்தபோது, இஸ்ரவேலின் மூப்பரானவர்கள், இன்று கர்த்தர் பெலிஸ்தருக்கு முன்பாக நம்மை முறிய அடித்ததென்ன? சீலோவிலிருக்கிற கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியைக் கொண்டுவருவோம்; அது நம்மை நம்முடைய பகைஞரின் கைக்கு விலக்கி ரட்சிக்கும்படி, நம்முடைய நடுவிலே வரவேண்டியது என்றார்கள். And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.

4 அப்படியே கேருபீன்களின் மத்தியிலே வாசமாயிருக்கிற சேனைகளின் கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியை எடுத்துவர, ஜனங்கள் சீலோவுக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினார்கள்; அங்கே ஏலியின் இரண்டு குமாரராகிய ஓப்னியும் பினெகாசும் தேவனுடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியண்டையில் இருந்தார்கள். So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubim: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

5 கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டி பாளயத்திலே வருகிறபோது, இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரும் பூமி அதிரத்தக்கதாக மகா ஆர்ப்பரிப்பாய்ச் சத்தமிட்டார்கள். And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.

6 அவர்கள் ஆர்ப்பரிக்கிற சத்தத்தைப் பெலிஸ்தர் கேட்டபோது: எபிரெயருடைய பாளயத்தில் இந்த மகா ஆர்ப்பரிப்பின் சத்தம் என்ன என்றார்கள்; பின்பு கர்த்தரின் பெட்டி பாளயத்தில் வந்தது என்று அறிந்துகொண்டார்கள். And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.

7 தேவன் பாளயத்தில் வந்தார் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டபடியினால், பெலிஸ்தர் பயந்து, ஐயோ, நமக்கு மோசம் வந்தது; இதற்குமுன் ஒருபோதும் இப்படி நடக்கவில்லையே. And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore.

8 ஐயோ, அந்த மகத்துவமான தேவர்களின் கைக்கு நம்மைத் தப்புவிப்பவர் யார்? எகிப்தியரைச் சகலவித வாதைகளினாலும் வனாந்தரத்திலே அடித்த தேவர்கள் இவர்கள்தானே. Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.

9 பெலிஸ்தரே, திடங்கொண்டு புருஷரைப்போல நடந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்; எபிரெயர் உங்களுக்கு அடிமைகளாயிருந்ததுபோல, நீங்களும் அவர்களுக்கு அடிமைகளாகாதபடிக்கு, புருஷராயிருந்து, யுத்தம்பண்ணுங்கள் என்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள். Be strong and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.

10 அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தர் யுத்தம் பண்ணினார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேலர் முறிந்து, அவரவர் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; மகா பெரிய சங்காரம் உண்டாயிற்று; இஸ்ரவேலிலே முப்பதினாயிரம் காலாட்கள் விழுந்தார்கள். And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.

11 தேவனுடைய பெட்டி பிடிக்கப்பட்டது; ஏலியின் இரண்டு குமாரராகிய ஓப்னியும் பினெகாசும் மாண்டார்கள். And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

12 பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தானாகிய ஒருவன் படையிலிருந்து ஓடி, தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்து, தன் தலையின் மேல் புழுதியை வாரிப் போட்டுக்கொண்டு, அன்றையதினமே சீலோவுக்கு வந்தான். And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the army, and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and with earth upon his head.

13 அவன் வந்தபோது: ஏலி ஒரு ஆசனத்தின்மேல் உட்கார்ந்து வழியைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; தேவனுடைய பெட்டிக்காக அவன் இருதயம் தத்தளித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தது, ஊரிலே செய்தியை அறிவிக்க அந்த மனுஷன் வந்தபோது, ஊரெங்கும் புலம்பல் உண்டாயிற்று. And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out.

14 புலம்புகிற இந்தச் சத்தத்தை ஏலி கேட்டபோது: இந்த அமளியின் இரைச்சல் என்ன என்று கேட்டான்; அப்பொழுது அந்த மனுஷன் தீவிரித்து வந்து, ஏலிக்கு அறிவித்தான். And when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What meaneth the noise of this tumult? And the man came in hastily, and told Eli.

15 ஏலி தொண்ணூற்றெட்டு வயதுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்; அவன் பார்க்கக் கூடாதபடிக்கு, அவன் கண்கள் மங்கலாயிருந்தது. Now Eli was ninety and eight years old; and his eyes were dim, that he could not see.

16 அந்த மனுஷன் ஏலியைப் பார்த்து: படையிலிருந்து வந்தவன் நான் தான்; இன்று தான் படையிலிருந்து ஓடிவந்தேன் என்றான். அப்பொழுது அவன்: என் மகனே, நடந்த காரியம் என்ன என்று கேட்டான். And the man said unto Eli, I am he that came out of the army, and I fled to day out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my son?

17 செய்தி கொண்டுவந்தவன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இஸ்ரவேலர் பெலிஸ்தருக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்தோடிப்போனார்கள்; ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே பெரிய சங்காரம் உண்டாயிற்று; உம்முடைய குமாரராகிய ஓப்னி பினெகாஸ் என்னும் இருவரும் இறந்துபோனார்கள்; தேவனுடைய பெட்டியும் பிடிபட்டு போயிற்று என்றான். And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.

18 அவன் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைக் குறித்துச் சொன்னவுடனே, ஏலி ஆசனத்திலிருந்து வாசலின் பக்கமாய் மல்லாக்க விழுந்தான்; அவன் கிழவனும் ஸ்தூலித்தவனுமாயிருந்தபடியால், அவன் பிடரி முறிந்து செத்துப்போனான். அவன் இஸ்ரவேலை நாற்பது வருஷம் நியாயம்விசாரித்தான். And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

And his daughter in law, Phinehas' wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her.

20 அவள் சாகப்போகிற நேரத்தில் அவளண்டையிலே நின்ற ஸ்திரீகள்: நீ பயப்படாதே, ஆண்பிள்ளையைப் பெற்றாய் என்றார்கள்; அவளோ அதற்கு ஒன்றும் சொல்லவுமில்லை, அதின்மேல் சிந்தைவைக்கவுமில்லை. And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.

21 தேவனுடைய பெட்டி பிடிபட்டு, அவளுடைய மாமனும் அவளுடைய புருஷனும் இறந்து போனபடியினால், அவள்: மகிமை இஸ்ரவேலை விட்டுப் போயிற்று என்று சொல்லி, அந்தப் பிள்ளைக்கு இக்கபோத் என்று பேரிட்டாள். And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.

22 தேவனுடைய பெட்டி பிடிபட்டுப் போனபடியினால், மகிமை இஸ்ரவேலை விட்டு விலகிப்போயிற்று என்றாள். And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.

1 Saamuvaelin vaarththai isravaelukkellaam vanthathu. Isravaelar pelistharukku virothamaay yuththanjaெyyappurappattu, epenaesarukkuch sameepaththil paalayamiranginaarkal; pelistharo aappekkilae paalayamirangiyirunthaarkal. And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and pitched beside Ebenezer: and the Philistines pitched in Aphek.

2 Pelisthar isravaelarukku virothamaay annivakuththu nintarkal; yuththam athikariththu, isravaelar pelistharukku munpaaka muriya atikkappattarkal; avarkal senaiyil porkkalaththilae aerakkuraiya naalaayirampaer vettunnduponaarkal. And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in the field about four thousand men.

3 Janangal thirumpap paalayaththukku vanthapothu, isravaelin moopparaanavarkal, intu Karththar pelistharukku munpaaka nammai muriya atiththathenna? Seelovilirukkira karththarutaiya udanpatikkaip pettiyaik konnduvaruvom; athu nammai nammutaiya pakainjarin kaikku vilakki ratchikkumpati, nammutaiya naduvilae varavaenntiyathu entarkal. And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.

4 Appatiyae kaerupeenkalin maththiyilae vaasamaayirukkira senaikalin karththarutaiya udanpatikkaip pettiyai eduththuvara, janangal seelovukkuch solliyanuppinaarkal; angae aeliyin iranndu kumaararaakiya opniyum pinekaasum thaevanutaiya udanpatikkaip pettiyanntaiyil irunthaarkal. So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubim: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

5 Karththarutaiya udanpatikkaip petti paalayaththilae varukirapothu, isravaelarellaarum poomi athiraththakkathaaka makaa aarpparippaaych saththamittarkal. And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.

6 Avarkal aarpparikkira saththaththaip pelisthar kaettapothu: epireyarutaiya paalayaththil intha makaa aarpparippin saththam enna entarkal; pinpu karththarin petti paalayaththil vanthathu entu arinthukonndaarkal. And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.

7 Dhevan paalayaththil vanthaar entu sollappattapatiyinaal, pelisthar payanthu, aiyo, namakku mosam vanthathu; itharkumun orupothum ippati nadakkavillaiyae. And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore.

8 Aiyo, antha makaththuvamaana thaevarkalin kaikku nammaith thappuvippavar yaar? Ekipthiyaraich sakalavitha vaathaikalinaalum vanaantharaththilae atiththa thaevarkal ivarkalthaanae. Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.

9 Pelistharae, thidangaொnndu purusharaippola nadanthukollungal; epireyar ungalukku atimaikalaayirunthathupola, neengalum avarkalukku atimaikalaakaathapatikku, purusharaayirunthu, yuththampannnungal entu sollikkonndaarkal. Be strong and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.

10 Appoluthu pelisthar yuththam pannnninaarkal; isravaelar murinthu, avaravar thangal koodaarangalukku otipponaarkal; makaa periya sangaaram unndaayittaு; isravaelilae muppathinaayiram kaalaatkal vilunthaarkal. And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.

11 Thaevanutaiya petti pitikkappattathu; aeliyin iranndu kumaararaakiya opniyum pinekaasum maanndaarkal. And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

12 Penyameen koththiraththaanaakiya oruvan pataiyilirunthu oti, than vasthirangalaik kiliththu, than thalaiyin mael puluthiyai vaarip pottukkonndu, antaiyathinamae seelovukku vanthaan. And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the army, and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and with earth upon his head.

13 Avan vanthapothu: aeli oru aasanaththinmael utkaarnthu valiyaip paarththukkonntirunthaan; thaevanutaiya pettikkaaka avan iruthayam thaththaliththukkonntirunthathu, oorilae seythiyai arivikka antha manushan vanthapothu, oorengum pulampal unndaayittaு. And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out.

14 Pulampukira inthach saththaththai aeli kaettapothu: intha amaliyin iraichchal enna entu kaettan; appoluthu antha manushan theeviriththu vanthu, aelikku ariviththaan. And when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What meaneth the noise of this tumult? And the man came in hastily, and told Eli.

15 Aeli thonnnnoottettu vayathullavanaayirunthaan; avan paarkkak koodaathapatikku, avan kannkal mangalaayirunthathu. Now Eli was ninety and eight years old; and his eyes were dim, that he could not see.

16 Antha manushan aeliyaip paarththu: pataiyilirunthu vanthavan naan thaan; intu thaan pataiyilirunthu otivanthaen entan. Appoluthu avan: en makanae, nadantha kaariyam enna entu kaettan. And the man said unto Eli, I am he that came out of the army, and I fled to day out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my son?

17 Seythi konnduvanthavan pirathiyuththaramaaka: isravaelar pelistharukku munpaaka murinthotipponaarkal; janangalukkullae periya sangaaram unndaayittaு; ummutaiya kumaararaakiya opni pinekaas ennum iruvarum iranthuponaarkal; thaevanutaiya pettiyum pitipattu poyittaு entan. And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.

18 Avan thaevanutaiya pettiyaik kuriththuch sonnavudanae, aeli aasanaththilirunthu vaasalin pakkamaay mallaakka vilunthaan; avan kilavanum sthooliththavanumaayirunthapatiyaal, avan pidari murinthu seththupponaan. Avan isravaelai naarpathu varusham niyaayamvisaariththaan. And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. 19 Pinekaasin manaiviyaakiya avan marumakal niraikarppinniyaayirunthaal; aval thaevanutaiya petti pitipatta seythiyaiyum, than maamanum than purushanum iranthu ponathaiyum kaelvippattapothu, aval karppavaethanaippattu kuninthu pirasaviththaal. 20 Aval saakappokira naeraththil avalanntaiyilae ninta sthireekal: nee payappadaathae, aannpillaiyaip pettaாy entarkal; avalo atharku ontum sollavumillai, athinmael sinthaivaikkavumillai. 21 Thaevanutaiya petti pitipattu, avalutaiya maamanum avalutaiya purushanum iranthu ponapatiyinaal, aval: makimai isravaelai vittup poyittaு entu solli, anthap pillaikku ikkapoth entu paerittal. And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.

22 Thaevanutaiya petti pitipattup ponapatiyinaal, makimai isravaelai vittu vilakippoyittaு ental. And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.
