இப்போதும் இஸ்ரவேல் அனைத்தின்மேலும் என்றைக்கும் ராஜாவாயிருக்க, இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவன் தகப்பனுடைய வீட்டாரில் எல்லாம் என்னைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார்; அவர் யூதாவையும் யூதாவின் வம்சத்தில் அவன் தகப்பன் குடும்பத்தையும் தலைமையாக தெரிந்துகொண்டு, என்னை எல்லா இஸ்ரவேலின்மேலும் ராஜாவாக்க, என் தகப்பனுடைய குமாரருக்குள் என்மேல் பிரியம் வைத்தார்.

“இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் யூதாவின் கோத்திரத்தை, இஸ்ரவேலின் பன்னிரண்டு இனங்களை வழிநடத்தத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார். யூதாவின் கோத்திரத்தில் கர்த்தர் என் தந்தையின் வம்சத்தைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார். அக்குடும்பத்திலும் என்னை தேவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் அரசனாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார்! தேவன் என்னை என்றென்றைக்கும் இஸ்ரவேலின் அரசனாக்க விரும்பினார்!
