Psalm 49 in Tamil

1 ஜனங்களே, நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் இதைக் கேளுங்கள். Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:

2 பூமியின் குடிகளே, சிறியோரும் பெரியோரும் ஐசுவரியவான்களும் எளியவர்களுமாகிய நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் ஏகமாய்ச் செவிகொடுங்கள். Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

3 என் வாய் ஞானத்தைப் பேசும்; என் இருதயம் உணர்வைத் தியானிக்கும். My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

4 என் செவியை உவமைமொழிக்குச் சாய்த்து, என் மறைபொருளைச் சுரமண்டலத்தின்மேல் வெளிப்படுத்துவேன். I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.

5 என்னைத் தொடருகிறவர்களுடைய அக்கிரமம் என்னைச் சூழ்ந்துகொள்ளுந் தீங்குநாட்களில் நான் பயப்படவேண்டியதென்ன? Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

6 தங்கள் செல்வத்தை நம்பி தங்கள் திரளான ஐசுவரியத்தினால் பெருமைபாராட்டுகிற, They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

7 ஒருவனாவது தன் சகோதரன் அழிவைக் காணாமல் இனி என்றைக்கும் உயிரோடிருக்கும்படி, None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

8 எவ்விதத்தினாலாவது அவனை மீட்டுக்கொள்ளவும், அவனிமித்தம் மீட்கும்பொருளை தேவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கவுங் கூடாதே. (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

9 அவர்கள் ஆத்துமமீட்பு மிகவும் அருமையாயிருக்கிறது; அது ஒருபோதும் முடியாது. That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

10 ஞானிகளும் மரித்து, அஞ்ஞானிகளும் நிர்மூடரும் ஏகமாய் அழிந்து, தங்கள் ஆஸ்தியை மற்றவர்களுக்கு வைத்துப்போகிறதைக் காண்கிறான். For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

11 தங்கள் வீடுகள் நித்தியகாலமாகவும், தங்கள் வாசஸ்தலங்கள் தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாகவும் இருக்குமென்பது அவர்கள் உள்ளத்தின் அபிப்பிராயம், அவர்கள் தங்கள் நாமங்களைத் தங்கள் நிலங்களுக்குத் தரிக்கிறார்கள். Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

12 ஆகிலும் கனம்பொருந்தியவனாயிருக்கிற மனுஷன் நிலைத்திருக்கிறதில்லை; அழிந்துபோகும் மிருகங்களுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறான். Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

13 இதுதான் அவர்கள் வழி; இதுதான் அவர்கள் பைத்தியம்; ஆகிலும் அவர்கள் சந்ததியார் அவர்கள் சொல்லை மெச்சிக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்.(சேலா.) This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.

14 ஆட்டுமந்தையைப்போல பாதாளத்திலே கிடத்தப்படுகிறார்கள்; மரணம் அவர்களை மேய்ந்துபோடும்; செம்மையானவர்கள் அதிகாலையில் அவர்களை ஆண்டுகொள்வார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் வாசஸ்தலத்தில் நிலைத்திருக்கக் கூடாதபடி அவர்களுடைய ரூபத்தைப் பாதாளம் அழிக்கும். Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

15 ஆனாலும் தேவன் என் ஆத்துமாவைப் பாதாளத்தின் வல்லமைக்குத் தப்புவித்து மீட்பார், அவர் என்னை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வார். (சேலா.) But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

16 ஒருவன் ஐசுவரியவானாகி, அவன் வீட்டின் மகிமை பெருகும்போது, நீ பயப்படாதே. Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

17 அவன் மரிக்கும்போது ஒன்றும் கொண்டுபோவதில்லை; அவன் மகிமை அவனைப் பின்பற்றிச் செல்வதுமில்லை. For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

18 அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கையில் தன் ஆத்துமாவை வாழ்த்தினாலும்: நீ உனக்கு நன்மையை நாடினாய் என்று மனுஷர் அவனைப் புகழந்தாலும், Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.

19 அவன் என்றென்றைக்கும் வெளிச்சத்தைக் காணாத தன் பிதாக்களின் சந்ததியைச் சேருவான். He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.

20 கனம் பொருந்தினவனாயிருந்தும் அறிவில்லாத மனுஷன் அழிந்துபோகும் மிருகங்களுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறான். Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.

2 Poomiyin kutikalae, siriyorum periyorum aisuvariyavaankalum eliyavarkalumaakiya neengal ellaarum aekamaaych sevikodungal. Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

3 En vaay njaanaththaip paesum; en iruthayam unarvaith thiyaanikkum. My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

4 En seviyai uvamaimolikkuch saayththu, en maraiporulaich suramanndalaththinmael velippaduththuvaen. I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.

5 Ennaith thodarukiravarkalutaiya akkiramam ennaich soolnthukollun theengunaatkalil naan payappadavaenntiyathenna? Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

6 Thangal selvaththai nampi thangal thiralaana aisuvariyaththinaal perumaipaaraattukira, They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

7 Oruvanaavathu than sakotharan alivaik kaannaamal ini entaikkum uyirotirukkumpati, None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

8 Evvithaththinaalaavathu avanai meettukkollavum, avanimiththam meetkumporulai thaevanukkuk kodukkavung koodaathae. (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

9 Avarkal aaththumameetpu mikavum arumaiyaayirukkirathu; athu orupothum mutiyaathu. That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

10 Njaanikalum mariththu, anjnjaanikalum nirmoodarum aekamaay alinthu, thangal aasthiyai mattavarkalukku vaiththuppokirathaik kaannkiraan. For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

11 Thangal veedukal niththiyakaalamaakavum, thangal vaasasthalangal thalaimurai thalaimuraiyaakavum irukkumenpathu avarkal ullaththin apippiraayam, avarkal thangal naamangalaith thangal nilangalukkuth tharikkiraarkal. 12 Aakilum kanamporunthiyavanaayirukkira manushan nilaiththirukkirathillai; alinthupokum mirukangalukku oppaayirukkiraan. Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

13 Ithuthaan avarkal vali; ithuthaan avarkal paiththiyam; aakilum avarkal santhathiyaar avarkal sollai mechchikkollukiraarkal.(selaa.) This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.

14 Aattumanthaiyaippola paathaalaththilae kidaththappadukiraarkal; maranam avarkalai maeynthupodum; semmaiyaanavarkal athikaalaiyil avarkalai aanndukolvaarkal; avarkal thangal vaasasthalaththil nilaiththirukkak koodaathapati avarkalutaiya roopaththaip paathaalam alikkum. 15 Aanaalum Dhevan en aaththumaavaip paathaalaththin vallamaikkuth thappuviththu meetpaar, avar ennai aettaுkkolvaar. (selaa.) But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

16 Oruvan aisuvariyavaanaaki, avan veettin makimai perukumpothu, nee payappadaathae. Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

17 Avan marikkumpothu ontum konndupovathillai; avan makimai avanaip pinpattich selvathumillai. For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

18 Avan uyirotirukkaiyil than aaththumaavai vaalththinaalum: nee unakku nanmaiyai naatinaay entu manushar avanaip pukalanthaalum, Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.

19 Avan ententaikkum velichchaththaik kaannaatha than pithaakkalin santhathiyaich seruvaan. He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.

20 Kanam porunthinavanaayirunthum arivillaatha manushan alinthupokum mirukangalukku oppaayirukkiraan. Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
