மற்றச் சீஷர்கள்: கர்த்தரைக் கண்டோம் என்று அவனுடனே சொன்னார்கள். அதற்கு அவன் அவருடைய கைகளில் ஆணிகளினாலுண்டான காயத்தை நான் கண்டு, அந்தக் காயத்திலே என் விரலையிட்டு, என் கையை அவருடைய விலாவிலே போட்டாலொழிய விசுவாசிக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

மற்றச் சீடர்கள்: இயேசுவை பார்த்தோம் என்று அவனிடம் சொன்னார்கள். அதற்கு அவன்: அவருடைய கைகளில் ஆணிகளினால் உண்டான காயத்தை நான் பார்த்து, அந்தக் காயத்திலே என் விரலைவிட்டு, என் கையை அவருடைய விலாவிலே வைத்துப்பார்க்காமல் விசுவாசிக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

ஏனைய சீஷர்கள் “நாங்கள் ஆண்டவரைப் பார்த்தோம்” என்று தோமாவிடம் சொன்னார்கள். அதற்கு தோமா “நான் அவரது கைகளில் ஆணிகளின் துவாரங்களைக் காணும்வரை நீங்கள் சொல்வதை நம்பமாட்டேன். அப்படிப் பார்த்தாலும் அந்த ஆணித் துவாரங்களில் எனது விரல்களையும், விலாகாயத்தில் எனது கைகளையும் வைத்துப் பார்ப்பேன். இல்லாவிட்டால் நான் நம்பமாட்டேன்” என்றான்.
