ஆதலால் இயேசுவுக்கு அன்பாயிருந்த சீஷன் பேதுருவைப் பார்த்து: அவர் கர்த்தர் என்றான். அவர் கர்த்தரென்று சீமோன்பேதுரு கேட்டவுடனே, தான் வஸ்திரமில்லாதவனாயிருந்தபடியினால், தன் மேற்சட்டையைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு கடலிலே குதித்தான்.

ஆகவே, இயேசுவின்மேல் அன்பாக இருந்த சீடன் பேதுருவைப் பார்த்து: அவர் கர்த்தர் என்றான். அவர் கர்த்தர் என்று சீமோன்பேதுரு கேட்டவுடனே, தான் மேற்சட்டை அணியாதவனாக இருந்ததினால், தன் மேற்சட்டையை அணிந்துகொண்டு கடலிலே குதித்தான்.

எனவே இயேசுவிடம் அன்பாயிருந்த சீஷன் பேதுருவிடம் “இவர் ஆண்டவர்” என்றார். “அவர் இயேசு” என்று சொல்லக் கேட்டவுடன் பேதுரு, இதுவரை மூடப்படாத தன் சரீரத்தை ஆடையால் மூடினான். பிறகு அவன் கடலுக்குள் குதித்துவிட்டான்.

இயேசுவின் அன்புச் சீடர் அதைக் கண்டு பேதுருவிடம், “அங்கு நிற்பவர் ஆண்டவர்தாம்” என்றார். அதைக் கேட்டவுடன் தம் ஆடையைக் களைந்திருந்த சீமோன் பேதுரு ஆடையை இடுப்பில் கட்டிக்கொண்டு கடலில் குதித்தார்.
