உங்கள் அக்கிரமங்களுக்கும் மலைகளில் தூபங்காட்டி, மேடைகளின்மேல் என்னை நிந்தித்த உங்கள் பிதாக்களுடைய அக்கிரமங்களுக்கும் தக்கதாக அவர்கள் மடியிலே சரிக்கட்டுவேன்; நான் அவர்கள் முந்தின செய்கையின் பலனை அவர்கள் மடியிலே அளப்பேனென்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

உனது பாவங்களும், உனது முன்னோர்களின் பாவங்களும் ஒன்றுபோல்தான் உள்ளன. உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்கள் மலைகளில் நறுமணப் பொருட்களை எரித்தபோது இந்தப் பாவங்களைச் செய்தனர். அம்மலைகளில் அவர்கள் என்னை அவமானப்படுத்தினர். நான் அவர்களை முதலில் தண்டித்தேன். அவர்களுக்கு ஏற்ற தண்டனையே நான் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தேன்” கர்த்தர் இதைக் கூறுகிறார்.
