அவன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஆசாவின் வழிகளிலெல்லாம் நடந்தான்; அவன் அதை விட்டு விலகாமல் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆகிலும் மேடைகள் தகர்க்கப்படவில்லை; ஜனங்கள் இன்னும் மேடைகளின்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டிவந்தார்கள்.

யோசபாத் நல்லவன். அவன் முன்னோர்களைப்போன்று இருந்தான். கர்த்தருடைய விருப்பப்படி கீழ்ப்படிந்து நடந்தான். ஆனால் பொய்தெய்வங்களை தொழுதுகொள்ள அமைக்கப்பட்ட மேடைகளை அழிக்கவில்லை. ஜனங்கள் தொடாந்து அங்கு பலி செலுத்தி, நறுமணப் பொருட்களை எரித்துவந்தனர்.
