1 இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஏலாவின் குமாரன் ஓசெயாவின் மூன்றாம் வருஷத்திலே ஆகாஸ் என்னும் யூதாவுடைய ராஜாவின் குமாரனாகிய எசேக்கியா ராஜாவானான். Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

2 அவன் ராஜாவாகிறபோது, இருபத்தைந்து வயதாயிருந்து, எருசலேமிலே இருபத்தொன்பது வருஷம் அரசாண்டான்; சகரியாவின் குமாரத்தியாகிய அவன் தாயின் பேர் ஆபி. Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

3 அவன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீது செய்தபடியெல்லாம் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான். And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

4 அவன் மேடைகளை அகற்றி, சிலைகளைத் தகர்த்து, விக்கிரகத்தோப்புகளை வெட்டி, மோசே பண்ணியிருந்த வெண்கலச் சர்ப்பத்தை உடைத்துப் போட்டான்; அந்நாட்கள்மட்டும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அதற்குத் தூபங்காட்டி வந்தார்கள்; அதற்கு நிகுஸ்தான் என்று பேரிட்டான். He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

5 அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின்மேல் வைத்த நம்பிக்கையிலே, அவனுக்குப் பின்னும் அவனுக்கு முன்னும் இருந்த யூதாவின் ராஜாக்களிலெல்லாம் அவனைப்போல் ஒருவனும் இருந்ததில்லை. He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.

6 அவன் கர்த்தரை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்காமல் அவரைச் சார்ந்திருந்து, கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கற்பித்த அவருடைய கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொண்டு நடந்தான். For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

7 ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அவனோடிருந்தார்; அவன் போகிற இடம் எங்கும் அவனுக்கு அநுகூலமாயிற்று; அவன் அசீரியா ராஜாவைச் சேவிக்காமல், அவன் அதிகாரத்தைத் தள்ளிவிட்டான். And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

8 அவன் பெலிஸ்தரைக் காசாமட்டும் அதின் எல்லைகள் பரியந்தமும், காவலாளர் காக்கிற கோபுரங்கள் தொடங்கி அரணான நகரங்கள் பரியந்தமும் முறிய அடித்தான். He smote the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

9 இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஏலாவின் குமாரன் ஓசெயாவின் ஏழாம் வருஷத்திற்குச் சரியான எசேக்கியா ராஜாவின் நாலாம் வருஷத்திலே அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய சல்மனாசார் சமாரியாவுக்கு விரோதமாய் வந்து அதை முற்றிக்கை போட்டான். And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

10 மூன்று வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, அவர்கள் அதைப் பிடித்தார்கள்; எசேக்கியாவின் ஆறாம் வருஷத்திலும், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓசெயாவின் ஒன்பதாம் வருஷத்திலும் சமாரியா பிடிபட்டது. And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

11 அசீரியா ராஜா இஸ்ரவேலை அசீரியாவுக்குச் சிறைபிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோய், கோசான் நதியோரமான ஆலாகிலும் ஆபோரிலும் மேதியரின் பட்டணங்களிலும் குடியேற்றினான். And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

12 அவர்கள் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்திற்குச் செவிகொடாமல், அவருடைய உடன்படிக்கையையும் கர்த்தரின் தாசனாகிய மோசே கற்பித்த யாவற்றையும் மீறி, அதற்குச் செவிகொடாமலும் அதின்படி செய்யாமலும் போனார்கள். Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.

13 யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசேக்கியாவின் பதினாலாம் வருஷத்திலே அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய சனகெரிப் யூதாவிலிருக்கிற அரணான சகல பட்டணங்களுக்கும் விரோதமாய் வந்து அவைகளைப் பிடித்தான். Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

14 அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசேக்கியா லாகீசிலுள்ள அசீரியா ராஜாவுக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பி: நான் குற்றஞ்செய்தேன்; என்னைவிட்டுத் திரும்பிப்போம்; நீர் என்மேல் சுமத்துவதைச் சுமப்பேன் என்று சொன்னான்; அப்படியே அசீரியா ராஜா யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசேக்கியாவின்மேல் முந்நூறு தாலந்து வெள்ளியையும் முப்பது தாலந்து பொன்னையும் சுமத்தினான். And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

15 ஆதலால் எசேக்கியா கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்திலும் ராஜாவுடைய அரமனை பொக்கிஷங்களிலும் அகப்பட்ட எல்லா வெள்ளியையும் கொடுத்தான். And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.

16 அக்காலத்திலே யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசேக்கியா கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயக்கதவுகளிலும் நிலைகளிலும் தான் அழுத்தியிருந்த பொன் தகடுகளைக் கழற்றி அவைகளை அசீரியா ராஜாவுக்குக் கொடுத்தான். At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

17 ஆகிலும் அசீரியா ராஜா லாகீசிலிருந்து தர்தானையும் ரப்சாரீசையும் ரப்சாக்கேயையும் பெரிய சேனையோடே எருசலேமுக்கு எசேக்கியா ராஜாவினிடத்தில் அனுப்பினான்; அவர்கள் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து, வண்ணார் துறையின் வழியிலுள்ள மேல்குளத்துச் சாலகத்தண்டையிலே நின்று, And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.

18 ராஜாவை அழைப்பித்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது இல்க்கியாவின் குமாரனாகிய எலியாக்கீம் என்னும் அரமனை விசாரிப்புக்காரனும், செப்னா என்னும் சம்பிரதியும், ஆசாப்பின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாக் என்னும் கணக்கனும் அவர்களிடத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள். And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

19 ரப்சாக்கே அவர்களை நோக்கி: அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய மகா ராஜாவானவர் உரைக்கிறதும், நீங்கள் எசேக்கியாவுக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டியதும் என்னவென்றால்: நீ நம்பியிருக்கிற இந்த நம்பிக்கை என்ன? And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

20 யுத்தத்திற்கு மந்திராலோசனையும் வல்லமையும் உண்டென்று நீ சொல்லுகிறாயே, அது வாய்ப்பேச்சேயன்றி வேறல்ல; நீ என்னை விரோதிக்கும் படி யார்மேல் நம்பிக்கை வைத்திருக்கிறாய்? Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

21 இதோ, நெரிந்த நாணல்கோலாகிய அந்த எகிப்தை நம்புகிறாய்; அதின்மேல் ஒருவன் சாய்ந்தால், அது அவன் உள்ளங்கையில் பட்டு உருவிப்போம்; எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோன் தன்னை நம்புகிற யாவருக்கும் இப்படியே இருப்பான். Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

22 நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில்: எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை நம்புகிறோம் என்று சொல்லுவீர்களாகில், அவருடைய மேடைகளையும் அவருடைய பலிபீடங்களையும் அல்லவோ எசேக்கியா அகற்றி, யூதாவையும் எருசலேமையும் நோக்கி: எருசலேமிலிருக்கிற இந்தப் பலிபீடத்தின்முன் பணியுங்கள் என்றானே. But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

23 நான் உனக்கு இரண்டாயிரம் குதிரைகளைக் கொடுப்பேன்; நீ அவைகள் மேல் ஏறத்தக்கவர்களைச் சம்பாதிக்கக் கூடுமானால் அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனோடே சபதங்கூறு. Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

24 கூறாதேபோனால், நீ என் ஆண்டவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரரில் ஒரே ஒரு சிறிய தலைவனின் முகத்தை எப்படித் திருப்புவாய்? இரதங்களோடு குதிரைவீரரும் வருவார்கள் என்று எகிப்தையா நம்புகிறாய்? How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

25 இப்போதும் கர்த்தருடைய கட்டளையில்லாமல் இந்த ஸ்தலத்தை அழிக்கவந்தேனோ? இந்த தேசத்திற்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போய் அதை அழித்துப்போடு என்று கர்த்தர் என்னோடே சொன்னாரே என்றான். Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

26 அப்பொழுது இல்க்கியாவின் குமாரன் எலியாக்கீமும் செப்னாவும் யோவாகும் ரப்சாக்கேயைப் பார்த்து: உமது அடியாரோடே சீரியபாஷையிலே பேசும், அது எங்களுக்குத் தெரியும்; அலங்கத்திலிருக்கிற ஜனத்தின் செவிகள் கேட்க எங்களோடே யூதபாஷையிலே பேசவேண்டாம் என்றார்கள். Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

27 அதற்கு ரப்சாக்கே: உங்களோடுங்கூடத் தங்கள் மலத்தைத் தின்னவும் தங்கள் நீரைக் குடிக்கவும் அலங்கத்திலே தங்கியிருக்கிற மனுஷரண்டைக்கே அல்லாமல், உன் ஆண்டவனண்டைக்கும் உன்னண்டைக்குமா என் ஆண்டவன் இந்த வார்த்தைகளைப் பேச என்னை அனுப்பினார் என்று சொல்லி, But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

28 ரப்சாக்கே நின்று கொண்டு யூதபாஷையிலே உரத்தசத்தமாய்: அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய மகாராஜாவுடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள். Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:

29 எசேக்கியா உங்களை வஞ்சியாதபடி பாருங்கள்; அவன் உங்களை என் கையிலிருந்து தப்புவிக்கமாட்டான். Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

30 கர்த்தர் நம்மை நிச்சயமாய்த் தப்புவிப்பார்; இந்த நகரம் அசீரியா ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுவதில்லை என்று சொல்லி, எசேக்கியா உங்களைக் கர்த்தரை நம்பப்பண்ணுவான்; அதற்கு இடங்கொடாதிருங்கள் என்று ராஜா சொல்லுகிறார். Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

31 எசேக்கியாவின் சொல்லைக் கேளாதிருங்கள்; அசீரியா ராஜா சொல்லுகிறதாவது: நீங்கள் என்னோடே ராசியாகி, காணிக்கையோடே என்னிடத்தில் வாருங்கள்; நான் வந்து, உங்களை உங்கள் தேசத்துக்கு ஒப்பான தானியமும் திராட்சத்தோட்டமுமுள்ள தேசமும், அப்பமும் திராட்சரசமுமுள்ள தேசமும், ஒலிவ எண்ணெயும் தேனுமுள்ள தேசமுமாகிய சீமைக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோகுமளவும், Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:

32 அவனவன் தன் தன் திராட்சச்செடியின் கனியையும் தன் தன் அத்திமரத்தின் கனியையும் புசித்து, அவனவன் தன் தன் கிணற்றின் தண்ணீரைக் குடியுங்கள்; இவ்விதமாய் நீங்கள் சாகாமல் பிழைப்பீர்கள்; கர்த்தர் நம்மைத் தப்புவிப்பார் என்று உங்களைப் போதனைசெய்ய எசேக்கியாவுக்குச் செவிகொடாதிருங்கள். Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

33 ஜாதிகளுடைய தேவர்களில் யாராவது தங்கள் தேசத்தை அசீரியா ராஜாவின் கைக்குத் தப்புவித்ததுண்டோ? Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

34 ஆமாத், அர்பாத் பட்டணங்களின் தேவர்கள் எங்கே? செப்பர்வாயீம், ஏனா, ஈவாப் பட்டணங்களின் தேவர்கள் எங்கே? அவர்கள் சமாரியாவை என் கைக்குத் தப்புவித்ததுண்டோ? Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?

35 கர்த்தர் எருசலேமை என் கைக்குத் தப்புவிப்பார் என்பதற்கு, அந்த தேசங்களுடைய எல்லா தேவர்களுக்குள்ளும் தங்கள் தேசத்தை என் கைக்குத் தப்புவித்தவர் யார் என்கிறார் என்று சொன்னான். Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?

36 ஆனாலும் ஜனங்கள் அவனுக்கு ஒரு வார்த்தையும் பிரதியுத்தரமாகச் சொல்லாமல் மவுனமாயிருந்தார்கள்; அவனுக்கு மறுஉத்தரவு சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்று ராஜா கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான். But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

37 அப்பொழுது இல்க்கியாவின் குமாரனாகிய எலியாக்கீம் என்னும் அரமனை விசாரிப்புக்காரனும், செப்னா என்னும் சம்பிரதியும், ஆசாப்பின் குமாரன் யோவாக் என்னும் கணக்கனும் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, எசேக்கியாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, ரப்சாக்கேயின் வார்த்தைகளை அவனுக்குத் தெரிவித்தார்கள். Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

1 Isravaelin raajaavaakiya aelaavin kumaaran oseyaavin moontam varushaththilae aakaas ennum yoothaavutaiya raajaavin kumaaranaakiya esekkiyaa raajaavaanaan. Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

2 Avan raajaavaakirapothu, irupaththainthu vayathaayirunthu, erusalaemilae irupaththonpathu varusham arasaanndaan; sakariyaavin kumaaraththiyaakiya avan thaayin paer aapi. Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

3 Avan than thakappanaakiya David seythapatiyellaam karththarin paarvaikkuch semmaiyaanathaich seythaan. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

4 Avan maetaikalai akatti, silaikalaith thakarththu, vikkirakaththoppukalai vetti, Moses pannnniyiruntha vennkalach sarppaththai utaiththup pottan; annaatkalmattum Israel puththirar atharkuth thoopangaatti vanthaarkal; atharku nikusthaan entu paerittan. 5 Avan isravaelin thaevanaakiya karththarinmael vaiththa nampikkaiyilae, avanukkup pinnum avanukku munnum iruntha yoothaavin raajaakkalilellaam avanaippol oruvanum irunthathillai. He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.

6 Avan karththarai vittup pinvaangaamal avaraich saarnthirunthu, Karththar Moseskkuk karpiththa avarutaiya karpanaikalaik kaikkonndu nadanthaan. For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

7 Aakaiyaal Karththar avanotirunthaar; avan pokira idam engum avanukku anukoolamaayittaு; avan aseeriyaa raajaavaich sevikkaamal, avan athikaaraththaith thallivittan. And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

8 Avan pelistharaik kaasaamattum athin ellaikal pariyanthamum, kaavalaalar kaakkira kopurangal thodangi arannaana nakarangal pariyanthamum muriya atiththaan. He smote the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

9 Isravaelin raajaavaakiya aelaavin kumaaran oseyaavin aelaam varushaththirkuch sariyaana esekkiyaa raajaavin naalaam varushaththilae aseeriyaa raajaavaakiya salmanaasaar samaariyaavukku virothamaay vanthu athai muttikkai pottan. And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

10 Moontu varusham sentapinpu, avarkal athaip pitiththaarkal; esekkiyaavin aaraam varushaththilum, isravaelin raajaavaakiya oseyaavin onpathaam varushaththilum samaariyaa pitipattathu. And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

11 Aseeriyaa raajaa isravaelai aseeriyaavukkuch siraipitiththukkonndupoy, kosaan nathiyoramaana aalaakilum aaporilum maethiyarin pattanangalilum kutiyaettinaan. And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

12 Avarkal thangal thaevanaakiya karththarutaiya saththaththirkuch sevikodaamal, avarutaiya udanpatikkaiyaiyum karththarin thaasanaakiya Moses karpiththa yaavattaைyum meeri, atharkuch sevikodaamalum athinpati seyyaamalum ponaarkal. Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.

13 Yoothaavin raajaavaakiya esekkiyaavin pathinaalaam varushaththilae aseeriyaa raajaavaakiya sanakerip yoothaavilirukkira arannaana sakala pattanangalukkum virothamaay vanthu avaikalaip pitiththaan. Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

14 Appoluthu yoothaavin raajaavaakiya esekkiyaa laageesilulla aseeriyaa raajaavukku aal anuppi: naan kuttanjaெythaen; ennaivittuth thirumpippom; neer enmael sumaththuvathaich sumappaen entu sonnaan; appatiyae aseeriyaa raajaa yoothaavin raajaavaakiya esekkiyaavinmael munnooraு thaalanthu velliyaiyum muppathu thaalanthu ponnaiyum sumaththinaan. And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

15 Aathalaal esekkiyaa karththarin aalayaththilum raajaavutaiya aramanai pokkishangalilum akappatta ellaa velliyaiyum koduththaan. And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.

16 Akkaalaththilae yoothaavin raajaavaakiya esekkiyaa karththarutaiya aalayakkathavukalilum nilaikalilum thaan aluththiyiruntha pon thakadukalaik kalatti avaikalai aseeriyaa raajaavukkuk koduththaan. At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

17 Aakilum aseeriyaa raajaa laageesilirunthu tharthaanaiyum rapsaareesaiyum rapsaakkaeyaiyum periya senaiyotae erusalaemukku esekkiyaa raajaavinidaththil anuppinaan; avarkal erusalaemukku vanthu, vannnnaar thuraiyin valiyilulla maelkulaththuch saalakaththanntaiyilae nintu, And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.

18 Raajaavai alaippiththaarkal; appoluthu ilkkiyaavin kumaaranaakiya eliyaakgeem ennum aramanai visaarippukkaaranum, sepnaa ennum sampirathiyum, aasaappin kumaaranaakiya yovaak ennum kanakkanum avarkalidaththirkup purappattupponaarkal. And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

19 Rapsaakkae avarkalai Nnokki: aseeriyaa raajaavaakiya makaa raajaavaanavar uraikkirathum, neengal esekkiyaavukkuch sollavaenntiyathum ennavental: nee nampiyirukkira intha nampikkai enna? And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

20 Yuththaththirku manthiraalosanaiyum vallamaiyum unndentu nee sollukiraayae, athu vaayppaechchaேyanti vaeralla; nee ennai virothikkum pati yaarmael nampikkai vaiththirukkiraay? Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

21 Itho, nerintha naanalkolaakiya antha ekipthai nampukiraay; athinmael oruvan saaynthaal, athu avan ullangaiyil pattu uruvippom; ekipthin raajaavaakiya paarvon thannai nampukira yaavarukkum ippatiyae iruppaan. Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

22 Neengal ennidaththil: engal thaevanaakiya karththarai nampukirom entu solluveerkalaakil, avarutaiya maetaikalaiyum avarutaiya palipeedangalaiyum allavo esekkiyaa akatti, yoothaavaiyum erusalaemaiyum Nnokki: erusalaemilirukkira inthap palipeedaththinmun panniyungal entanae. But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

23 Naan unakku iranndaayiram kuthiraikalaik koduppaen; nee avaikal mael aeraththakkavarkalaich sampaathikkak koodumaanaal aseeriyaa raajaavaakiya en aanndavanotae sapathangaூraு. Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

24 Kooraathaeponaal, nee en aanndavanutaiya ooliyakkaararil orae oru siriya thalaivanin mukaththai eppatith thiruppuvaay? Irathangalodu kuthiraiveerarum varuvaarkal entu ekipthaiyaa nampukiraay? How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

25 Ippothum karththarutaiya kattalaiyillaamal intha sthalaththai alikkavanthaeno? Intha thaesaththirku virothamaayp poy athai aliththuppodu entu Karththar ennotae sonnaarae entan. Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

26 Appoluthu ilkkiyaavin kumaaran eliyaakgeemum sepnaavum yovaakum rapsaakkaeyaip paarththu: umathu atiyaarotae seeriyapaashaiyilae paesum, athu engalukkuth theriyum; alangaththilirukkira janaththin sevikal kaetka engalotae yoothapaashaiyilae paesavaenndaam entarkal. Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

27 Atharku rapsaakkae: ungalodungaூdath thangal malaththaith thinnavum thangal neeraik kutikkavum alangaththilae thangiyirukkira manusharanntaikkae allaamal, un aanndavananntaikkum unnanntaikkumaa en aanndavan intha vaarththaikalaip paesa ennai anuppinaar entu solli, But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

28 Rapsaakkae nintu konndu yoothapaashaiyilae uraththasaththamaay: aseeriyaa raajaavaakiya makaaraajaavutaiya vaarththaiyaik kaelungal. Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:

29 Esekkiyaa ungalai vanjiyaathapati paarungal; avan ungalai en kaiyilirunthu thappuvikkamaattan. Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

30 Karththar nammai nichchayamaayth thappuvippaar; intha nakaram aseeriyaa raajaavin kaiyil oppukkodukkappaduvathillai entu solli, esekkiyaa ungalaik karththarai nampappannnuvaan; atharku idangaொdaathirungal entu raajaa sollukiraar. Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

31 Esekkiyaavin sollaik kaelaathirungal; aseeriyaa raajaa sollukirathaavathu: neengal ennotae raasiyaaki, kaannikkaiyotae ennidaththil vaarungal; naan vanthu, ungalai ungal thaesaththukku oppaana thaaniyamum thiraatchaththottamumulla thaesamum, appamum thiraatcharasamumulla thaesamum, oliva ennnneyum thaenumulla thaesamumaakiya seemaikku alaiththukkonndupokumalavum, Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:

32 Avanavan than than thiraatchachchetiyin kaniyaiyum than than aththimaraththin kaniyaiyum pusiththu, avanavan than than kinattin thannnneeraik kutiyungal; ivvithamaay neengal saakaamal pilaippeerkal; Karththar nammaith thappuvippaar entu ungalaip pothanaiseyya esekkiyaavukkuch sevikodaathirungal. Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

33 Jaathikalutaiya thaevarkalil yaaraavathu thangal thaesaththai aseeriyaa raajaavin kaikkuth thappuviththathunntoo? Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

34 Aamaath, arpaath pattanangalin thaevarkal engae? Sepparvaayeem, aenaa, eevaap pattanangalin thaevarkal engae? Avarkal samaariyaavai en kaikkuth thappuviththathunntoo? Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?

35 Karththar erusalaemai en kaikkuth thappuvippaar enpatharku, antha thaesangalutaiya ellaa thaevarkalukkullum thangal thaesaththai en kaikkuth thappuviththavar yaar enkiraar entu sonnaan. Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?

36 Aanaalum janangal avanukku oru vaarththaiyum pirathiyuththaramaakach sollaamal mavunamaayirunthaarkal; avanukku maraுuththaravu sollavaenndaam entu raajaa kattalaiyittirunthaan. But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

37 Appoluthu ilkkiyaavin kumaaranaakiya eliyaakgeem ennum aramanai visaarippukkaaranum, sepnaa ennum sampirathiyum, aasaappin kumaaran yovaak ennum kanakkanum vasthirangalaik kiliththukkonndu, esekkiyaavinidaththil vanthu, rapsaakkaeyin vaarththaikalai avanukkuth theriviththaarkal. Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
