எங்கள் உடலும் எங்கள் சகோதரர் உடலும் சரி; எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் சரி; ஆனாலும், இதோ நாங்கள் எங்கள் குமாரரையும் எங்கள் குமாரத்திகளையும் அடிமைத்தனத்திற்கு உட்படுத்தவேண்டியதாயிருக்கிறது; அப்படியே எங்கள் குமாரத்திகளில் சிலர் அடிமைப்பட்டுமிருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களை மீட்க எங்களுக்கு நிர்வாகமில்லை; எங்கள் நிலங்களும் எங்கள் திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களும் வேறே மனிதர் கைவசமாயிற்று என்றார்கள்.

அந்த பணக்கார ஜனங்களைப் பாருங்கள். நாங்களும் அவர்களைப் போன்றே நல்லவர்களாக இருக்கிறோம். எங்கள் மகன்களும் அவர்களது மகன்களைப் போன்றே நல்லவர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் நாங்கள் எங்கள் மகன்களையும் மகள்களையும் அடிமையாக விற்கும் நிலையில் உள்ளோம். ஏற்கெனவே எங்களில் சிலர் தங்கள் மகள்களையும் அடிமைகளாக விற்றிருக்கின்றனர். எங்களால் எதுவும் செய்யமுடியவில்லை. நாங்கள் ஏற்கனவே எங்கள் வயல்களையும், திராட்சைத் தோட்டங்களையும் இழந்துவிட்டோம். இப்பொழுது அவற்றை மற்றவர்கள் சொந்தமாக்கிக் கொண்டனர்” என்றனர்.
