1 நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவா சித்தீமிலிருந்து வேவுகாரராகிய இரண்டு மனுஷரை இரகசியமாய் வேவுபார்க்கும்படி அனுப்பி: நீங்கள் போய் தேசத்தையும் எரிகோவையும் பார்த்துவாருங்கள் என்றான். அவர்கள் போய், ராகாப் என்னும் பெயர்கொண்ட வேசியின் வீட்டுக்குள் பிரவேசித்து, அங்கே தங்கினார்கள். And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

2 தேசத்தை வேவுபார்க்கும்படி, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரில் சில மனுஷர் இந்த ராத்திரியிலே இங்கே வந்தார்கள் என்று எரிகோவின் ராஜாவுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டது. And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.

3 அப்பொழுது எரிகோவின் ராஜா ராகாபண்டைக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பி: உன்னிடத்தில் வந்து, உன் வீட்டுக்குள் பிரவேசித்த மனுஷரை வெளியே கொண்டுவா; அவர்கள் தேசத்தையெல்லாம் வேவுபார்க்கும்படி வந்தார்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான். And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.

4 அந்த ஸ்திரீ அவ்விரண்டு மனுஷரையும் கொண்டுபோய் அவர்களை ஒழித்து வைத்து: மெய்தான், என்னிடத்தில் மனுஷர் வந்திருந்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் எவ்விடத்தாரோ எனக்குத் தெரியாது. And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:

5 வாசலை அடைக்கும் நேரத்தில் இருட்டுவேளையிலே, அந்த மனுஷர் புறப்பட்டுப் போய்விட்டார்கள்; அவர்கள் எங்கே போனார்களோ எனக்குத் தெரியாது; அவர்களைச் சீக்கிரமாய்ப் போய்த்தேடுங்கள்; நீங்கள் அவர்களைப் பிடித்துக்கொள்ளலாம் என்றாள். And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.

6 அவள் அவர்களை வீட்டின்மேல் பரப்பப்பட்ட சணல் தட்டைகளுக்குள்ளே மறைத்து வைத்திருந்தாள். But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.

7 அந்த மனுஷர் யோர்தானுக்குப் போகிற வழியில் துறைகள் மட்டும் அவர்களைத் தேடப்போனார்கள்; அவர்களைத் தேடுகிறவர்கள் புறப்பட்டவுடனே வாசல் அடைக்கப்பட்டது. And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

8 அந்த மனுஷர் படுத்துக்கொள்ளுமுன்னே அவள் வீட்டின்மேல் அவர்களிடத்திற்கு ஏறிப்போய், And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;

9 கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு தேசத்தை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தாரென்றும், உங்களைப்பற்றி எங்களுக்குத் திகில் பிடித்திருக்கிறதென்றும், உங்களைக்குறித்து தேசத்துக் குடிகள் எல்லாரும் சோர்ந்துபோனார்கள் என்றும் அறிவேன். And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

10 நீங்கள் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டபோது, கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு முன்பாகச் சிவந்த சமுத்திரத்தின் தண்ணீரை வற்றிப்போகப்பண்ணினதையும், நீங்கள் யோர்தானுக்கு அப்புறத்தில் சங்காரம் பண்ணின எமோரியரின் இரண்டு ராஜாக்களாகிய சீகோனுக்கும் ஓகுக்கும் செய்ததையும் கேள்விப்பட்டோம். For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

11 கேள்விப்பட்டபோது எங்கள் இருதயம் கரைந்துபோயிற்று, உங்களாலே எல்லாருடைய தைரியமும் அற்றுப்போயிற்று; உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரே உயர வானத்திலும் கீழே பூமியிலும் தேவனானவர். And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

12 இப்போதும் நான் உங்களுக்குத் தயவு செய்தபடியினால், நீங்களும் எங்கள் தகப்பன் குடும்பத்துக்குத் தயவுசெய்வோம் என்று கர்த்தர்பேரில் எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டு, Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have showed you kindness, that ye will also show kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:

13 நீங்கள் என் தகப்பனையும் என் தாயையும் என் சகோதரரையும் என் சகோதரிகளையும் அவர்களுக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் உயிரோடே வைத்து, எங்கள் ஜீவனைச் சாவுக்குத் தப்புவிக்கும்படி, எனக்கு நிச்சயமான அடையாளத்தைக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றாள். And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

14 அப்பொழுது அந்த மனுஷர் அவளை நோக்கி: எங்கள் ஜீவனே உங்கள் ஜீவனுக்கு ஈடு, நீங்கள் எங்கள் காரியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தாதிருந்தால், கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குத் தேசத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்போது, நாங்கள் தயையும் சத்தியமும் பாராட்டுவோம் என்றார்கள். And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

15 அப்பொழுது அவர்களைக் கயிற்றினாலே ஜன்னல்வழியாய் இறக்கிவிட்டாள்; அவள் வீடு அலங்கத்தின் மதிலில் இருந்தது; அலங்கத்திலே அவள் குடியிருந்தாள். Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

16 அப்பொழுது அவள் அவர்களை நோக்கி: தேடுகிறவர்கள் உங்களைக் காணாதபடிக்கு, நீங்கள் மலையிலே போய், அவர்கள் திரும்பிவருமட்டும் அங்கே மூன்றுநாள் ஒளித்திருந்து, பின்பு உங்கள் வழியே போங்கள் என்றாள். And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.

17 அப்பொழுது அந்த மனுஷர் அவளை நோக்கி: இதோ, நாங்கள் தேசத்துக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும்போது, நீ இந்த சிவப்புநூல் கயிற்றை எங்களை இறக்கிவிட்ட ஜன்னலிலே கட்டி, உன் தகப்பனையும் உன் தாயையும் உன் சகோதரர்களையும் உன் தகப்பன் குடும்பத்தார் அனைவரையும் உன்னிடத்தில் உன் வீட்டிலே சேர்த்துக்கொள். And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

18 இல்லாவிட்டால் நீ எங்கள் கையில் வாங்கின ஆணைக்கு நீங்கலாயிருப்போம். Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.

19 எவனாகிலும் உன் வீட்டு வாசல்களிலிருந்து வெளியே புறப்பட்டால், அவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழி அவன் தலையின்மேல் இருக்கும்; எங்கள்மேல் குற்றம் இல்லை; உன்னோடே வீட்டில் இருக்கிற எவன்மேலாகிலும் கைபோடப்பட்டதேயாகில், அவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழி எங்கள் தலையின்மேல் இருக்கும். And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

20 நீ எங்கள் காரியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தினாயேயானால், நீ எங்கள் கையில் வாங்கின ஆணைக்கு நீங்கலாயிருப்போம் என்றார்கள். And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

21 அதற்கு அவள் உங்கள் வார்த்தையின்படியே ஆகக்கடவது என்று சொல்லி, அவர்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டாள்; அவர்கள் போய்விட்டார்கள்; பின்பு அவள் அந்தச் சிவப்புக் கயிற்றை ஜன்னலிலே கட்டிவைத்தாள். And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

22 அவர்கள் போய், மலையிலே சேர்ந்து தேடுகிறவர்கள் திரும்பிவருமட்டும், மூன்று நாள் அங்கே தரித்திருந்தார்கள். தேடுகிறவர்கள் வழியெல்லாம் அவர்களைத் தேடியும் காணாதேபோனார்கள். And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.

23 அந்த இரண்டு மனுஷரும் திரும்பி, மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கி, ஆற்றைக்கடந்து, நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, தங்களுக்குச் சம்பவித்த யாவையும் அவனுக்குத் தெரிவித்து; So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:

24 கர்த்தர் தேசத்தையெல்லாம் நம்முடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; தேசத்தின் குடிகளெல்லாம் நமக்குமுன்பாகச் சோர்ந்துபோனார்கள் என்று அவனோடே சொன்னார்கள். And they said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.

1 Noonin kumaaranaakiya yosuvaa siththeemilirunthu vaevukaararaakiya iranndu manusharai irakasiyamaay vaevupaarkkumpati anuppi: neengal poy thaesaththaiyum erikovaiyum paarththuvaarungal entan. Avarkal poy, raakaap ennum peyarkonnda vaesiyin veettukkul piravaesiththu, angae thanginaarkal. 3 Appoluthu erikovin raajaa raakaapanntaikku aal anuppi: unnidaththil vanthu, un veettukkul piravaesiththa manusharai veliyae konnduvaa; avarkal thaesaththaiyellaam vaevupaarkkumpati vanthaarkal entu sollachchaொnnaan. And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.

4 Antha sthiree avviranndu manusharaiyum konndupoy avarkalai oliththu vaiththu: meythaan, ennidaththil manushar vanthirunthaarkal; aanaalum avarkal evvidaththaaro enakkuth theriyaathu. And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:

5 Vaasalai ataikkum naeraththil iruttuvaelaiyilae, antha manushar purappattup poyvittarkal; avarkal engae ponaarkalo enakkuth theriyaathu; avarkalaich seekkiramaayp poyththaedungal; neengal avarkalaip pitiththukkollalaam ental. And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.

7 Antha manushar yorthaanukkup pokira valiyil thuraikal mattum avarkalaith thaedapponaarkal; avarkalaith thaedukiravarkal purappattavudanae vaasal ataikkappattathu. And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

8 Antha manushar paduththukkollumunnae aval veettinmael avarkalidaththirku aerippoy, And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;

9 Karththar ungalukku thaesaththai oppukkoduththaarentum, ungalaippatti engalukkuth thikil pitiththirukkirathentum, ungalaikkuriththu thaesaththuk kutikal ellaarum sornthuponaarkal entum arivaen. And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

10 Neengal ekipthilirunthu purappattapothu, Karththar ungalukku munpaakach sivantha samuththiraththin thannnneerai vattippokappannnninathaiyum, neengal yorthaanukku appuraththil sangaaram pannnnina emoriyarin iranndu raajaakkalaakiya seekonukkum okukkum seythathaiyum kaelvippattaோm. 11 Kaelvippattapothu engal iruthayam karainthupoyittaு, ungalaalae ellaarutaiya thairiyamum attaுppoyittaு; ungal thaevanaakiya karththarae uyara vaanaththilum geelae poomiyilum thaevanaanavar. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

12 Ippothum naan ungalukkuth thayavu seythapatiyinaal, neengalum engal thakappan kudumpaththukkuth thayavuseyvom entu Karththarpaeril enakku aannaiyittu, Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have showed you kindness, that ye will also show kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:

13 Neengal en thakappanaiyum en thaayaiyum en sakothararaiyum en sakotharikalaiyum avarkalukku unndaana ellaavattaைyum uyirotae vaiththu, engal jeevanaich saavukkuth thappuvikkumpati, enakku nichchayamaana ataiyaalaththaik kodukkavaenndum ental. And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

14 Appoluthu antha manushar avalai Nnokki: engal jeevanae ungal jeevanukku eedu, neengal engal kaariyaththai velippaduththaathirunthaal, Karththar engalukkuth thaesaththaik kodukkumpothu, naangal thayaiyum saththiyamum paaraattuvom entarkal. And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

15 Appoluthu avarkalaik kayittinaalae jannalvaliyaay irakkivittal; aval veedu alangaththin mathilil irunthathu; alangaththilae aval kutiyirunthaal. Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

16 Appoluthu aval avarkalai Nnokki: thaedukiravarkal ungalaik kaannaathapatikku, neengal malaiyilae poy, avarkal thirumpivarumattum angae moontunaal oliththirunthu, pinpu ungal valiyae pongal ental. And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.

17 Appoluthu antha manushar avalai Nnokki: itho, naangal thaesaththukkul piravaesikkumpothu, nee intha sivappunool kayittaை engalai irakkivitta jannalilae katti, un thakappanaiyum un thaayaiyum un sakothararkalaiyum un thakappan kudumpaththaar anaivaraiyum unnidaththil un veettilae serththukkol. And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

18 Illaavittal nee engal kaiyil vaangina aannaikku neengalaayiruppom. Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.

19 Evanaakilum un veettu vaasalkalilirunthu veliyae purappattal, avanutaiya iraththappali avan thalaiyinmael irukkum; engalmael kuttam illai; unnotae veettil irukkira evanmaelaakilum kaipodappattathaeyaakil, avanutaiya iraththappali engal thalaiyinmael irukkum. And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

20 Nee engal kaariyaththai velippaduththinaayaeyaanaal, nee engal kaiyil vaangina aannaikku neengalaayiruppom entarkal. And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

21 Atharku aval ungal vaarththaiyinpatiyae aakakkadavathu entu solli, avarkalai anuppivittal; avarkal poyvittarkal; pinpu aval anthach sivappuk kayittaை jannalilae kattivaiththaal. And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

22 Avarkal poy, malaiyilae sernthu thaedukiravarkal thirumpivarumattum, moontu naal angae thariththirunthaarkal. Thaedukiravarkal valiyellaam avarkalaith thaetiyum kaannaathaeponaarkal. And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.

23 Antha iranndu manusharum thirumpi, malaiyilirunthu irangi, aattaைkkadanthu, noonin kumaaranaakiya yosuvaavinidaththil vanthu, thangalukkuch sampaviththa yaavaiyum avanukkuth theriviththu; So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:

24 Karththar thaesaththaiyellaam nammutaiya kaiyil oppukkoduththaar; thaesaththin kutikalellaam namakkumunpaakach sornthuponaarkal entu avanotae sonnaarkal. And they said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.
