அப்பொழுது ஏலாமின் புத்திரரில் ஒருவனாகிய யெகியேலின் குமாரன் செக்கனியா எஸ்றாவை நோக்கி: நாங்கள் தேசத்து ஜனங்களிலுள்ள அந்நியஸ்திரீகளைச் சேர்த்துகொண்டதினால், எங்கள் தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்தோம்; ஆகிலும் இப்பொழுது இந்தக் காரியத்திலே இன்னும் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காக நம்பிக்கை உண்டு.

அப்போது ஏலாமின் சந்ததியில் ஒருவனான, யெகியேலின் மகன் செக்கனியா எஸ்றாவிடம் பேசினான். செக்கனியா, “நான் நமது தேவனிடம் உண்மையாக இருக்கவில்லை. நம்மை சுற்றியிருப்பவர்களை நாம் மணந்துக்கொண்டோம். ஆனால் நாங்கள் இதைச் செய்திருந்தாலும், இஸ்ரவேலுக்கான நம்பிக்கை இன்னும் இருக்கிறது.
