பார்வோன் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியேற்றினான். பெலிஸ்தரின் நாட்டின் வழியாக ஜனங்கள் பயணம் செய்வதைக் கர்த்தர் அனுமதிக்கவில்லை. கடலின் ஓரமாக உள்ள அந்த சாலை குறுக்கு சாலையாக இருந்தது. ஆனால் கர்த்தர், “அவ்வழியே ஜனங்கள் பயணத்தை மேற் கொண்டால் அவர்கள் போரிட வேண்டியிருக்கும். அதனால் தங்கள் எண்ணத்தை மாற்றி, எகிப்திற்குத் திரும்பிப் போகக்கூடும்” என்றார்.
