1 யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாசின் பன்னிரண்டாம் வருஷத்தில், ஏலாவின் குமாரனாகிய ஓசெயா இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகி, சமாரியாவிலே ஒன்பதுவருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி, In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

2 கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் தனக்கு முன்னிருந்த இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாக்களைப் போல் செய்யவில்லை. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

3 அவனுக்கு விரோதமாக அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய சல்மனாசார் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது ஓசெயா அவனைச் சேவிக்கிறவனாகி, அவனுக்குப் பகுதிகட்டினான். Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.

4 ஓசெயா எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய சோ என்பவனிடத்துக்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பினதும், தனக்கு வருஷந்தோறும் செய்ததுபோல், பகுதி அனுப்பாதே போனதுமான கலக யோசனையை அசீரியாவின் ராஜா ஓசெயாவினிடத்திலே கண்டு, அவனைப் பிடித்துக் கட்டிச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்தான். And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.

5 அசீரியா ராஜா தேசம் எங்கும் பொய், சமாரியாவுக்கும் வந்து அதை மூன்று வருஷம் முற்றிக்கை போட்டிருந்தான். Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.

6 ஓசெயாவின் ஒன்பதாம் வருஷத்தில் அசீரியா ராஜா சமாரியாவைப் பிடித்து, இஸ்ரவேலை அசீரியாவுக்குச் சிறையாகக் கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களைக் கோசான் நதி ஓரமான ஆலாகிலும் ஆபோரிலும் மேதியரின் பட்டணங்களிலும் குடியேற்றினான். In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

7 எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோனுடைய கையின்கீழிருந்த தங்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணின தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாக இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் பாவஞ்செய்து, அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயந்து நடந்து, For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

8 கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தின ஜாதிகளின் வழிபாடுகளிலும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழிபாடுகளிலும் நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தார்கள். And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

9 செய்யத்தகாத காரியங்களை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாக இரகசியத்தில் செய்ததுமன்றி, காவல்காக்கிற கோபுரங்கள் தொடங்கி அரணான பட்டணங்கள் மட்டுமுள்ள தங்கள் ஊர்களிலெல்லாம் தங்களுக்கு மேடைகளையும் கட்டி, And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

10 உயரமான சகல மேட்டின்மேலும் பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின்கீழும் தங்களுக்குச் சிலைகளையும் விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளையும் நிறுத்தி, And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

11 கர்த்தர் தங்களை விட்டுக் குடிவிலக்கின ஜாதிகளைப்போல, சகல மேடைகளிலும் தூபங்காட்டி, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமுண்டாகத் துர்க்கிரியைகளைச் செய்து, And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:

12 இப்படிச் செய்யத்தகாது என்று கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தும், நரகலான விக்கிரகங்களைச் சேவித்துவந்தார்கள். For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

13 நீங்கள் உங்கள் பொல்லாத வழிகளை விட்டுத் திரும்பி, நான் உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதும், என் ஊழியக்காரராகிய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கொண்டு உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினதுமான நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியெல்லாம் என் கற்பனைகளையும் என் கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் ஞான திருஷ்டிக்காரர் எல்லாரையுங்கொண்டு இஸ்ரவேலுக்கும் யூதாவுக்கும் திடச்சாட்சியாய் எச்சரித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தும், Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

14 அவர்கள் செவிகொடாமல், தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்மேல் விசுவாசியாமற்போன கடினக் கழுத்துள்ள தங்கள் பிதாக்களைப்போல், தங்கள் கழுத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தி, Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.

15 அவருடைய கட்டளைகளையும், அவர் தங்கள் பிதாக்களோடே பண்ணின அவருடைய உடன்படிக்கையையும், அவர் தங்களுக்குத் திடச்சாட்சியாய்க் காண்பித்த அவருடைய சாட்சிகளையும் வெறுத்து விட்டு, வீணான விக்கிரகங்களைப் பின்பற்றி வீணராகி, அவர்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிறவர்களைப்போல, செய்ய வேண்டாமென்று கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டு விலக்கியிருந்த ஜாதிகளுக்குப் பின்சென்று, And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.

16 தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் கற்பனைகளையெல்லாம் விட்டுவிட்டு, இரண்டு கன்றுக்குட்டிகளாகிய வார்ப்பித்த விக்கிரகங்களைத் தங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்கி, விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளை நாட்டி, வானத்தின் சேனைகளையெல்லாம் பணிந்துகொண்டு, பாகாலைச் சேவித்தார்கள். And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

17 அவர்கள் தங்கள் குமாரரையும் தங்கள் குமாரத்திகளையும் தீக்கடக்கப்பண்ணி, குறிகேட்டு நிமித்தங்கள் பார்த்து, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமுண்டாக்க அவர் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்கிறதற்குத் தங்களை விற்றுப் போட்டார்கள். And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

18 ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் மிகவும் கோபமடைந்து, அவர்களைத் தம்முடைய முகத்தைவிட்டு அகற்றினார்; யூதாகோத்திரமாத்திரமே மீதியாயிற்று. Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

19 யூதா ஜனங்களும் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல் இஸ்ரவேல் உண்டாக்கின வழிபாடுகளில் நடந்தார்கள். Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

20 ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் சந்ததியாரையெல்லாம் புறக்கணித்து, அவர்களைத் தமது முகத்தைவிட்டுத் தள்ளுமட்டாக ஒடுக்கி, அவர்களைக் கொள்ளைக்காரர் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார். And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

21 இஸ்ரவேலர் தாவீது வம்சத்தை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து, நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமை ராஜாவாக்கினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யெரொபெயாம் இஸ்ரவேலைக் கர்த்தரை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்கவும், பெரிய பாவத்தைச் செய்யவும்பண்ணினான். For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.

22 அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் யெரொபெயாம் செய்த எல்லாப் பாவங்களிலும் நடந்து, For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;

23 கர்த்தர் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளாகிய தம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரையும் கொண்டு சொல்லியிருந்தபடி, அவர்களைத் தமது சமுகத்தைவிட்டு அகற்றுகிற வரைக்கும் அவைகளை விட்டு விலகாதிருந்தார்கள்; இப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலர் தங்கள் தேசத்தினின்று அசீரியாவுக்குக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டு இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிறார்கள். Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

24 அசீரியா ராஜா, பாபிலோனிலும், கூத்தாவிலும், ஆபாவிலும், ஆமாத்திலும், செப்பர்யாயிமிலும் இருந்து மனுஷரை வரப்பண்ணி, அவர்களை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குப் பதிலாகச் சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேற்றினான்; இவர்கள் சமாரியாவைச் சொந்தமாய்க் கட்டிக்கொண்டு அதின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள். And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

25 அவர்கள் அங்கே குடியேறினது முதல், கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படாததினால், கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சிங்கங்களை அனுப்பினார்; அவைகள் அவர்களில் சிலரைக் கொன்றுபோட்டது. And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

26 அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் அசீரியா ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நீர் இங்கேயிருந்து அனுப்பி சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேற்றுவித்த ஜாதிகள் அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அறியாதபடியினால், அவர் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சிங்கங்களை அனுப்பினார்; அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அவர்கள் அறியாதபடியினால், அவைகள் அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோடுகிறது என்று சொன்னார்கள். Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

27 அதற்கு அசீரியா ராஜா: நீங்கள் அங்கேயிருந்து கொண்டுவந்த ஆசாரியர்களில் ஒருவனை அங்கே அழைத்துக் கொண்டுபோங்கள்; அவர்கள் அங்கே குடியிருக்கும்படிக்கு, அவன் அவர்களுக்கு அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தைப் போதிக்கக்கடவன் என்று கட்டளையிட்டான். Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

28 அப்படியே அவர்கள் சமாரியாவிலிருந்து கொண்டுபோயிருந்த ஆசாரியர்களில் ஒருவன் வந்து, பெத்தேலிலே குடியிருந்து, கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கவேண்டிய விதத்தை அவர்களுக்குப் போதித்தான். Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.

29 ஆனாலும் அந்தந்த ஜாதி தங்கள் தங்கள் தேவர்களைத் தங்களுக்கு உண்டு பண்ணி, அந்தந்த ஜாதியார் குடியேறின தங்கள் தங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் சமாரியர் உண்டுபண்ணின மேடைகளின் கோவில்களில் வைத்தார்கள். Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.

30 பாபிலோனின் மனுஷர் சுக்கோத் பெனோத்தையும், கூத்தின் மனுஷர் நேர்காலையும், ஆமாத்தின் மனுஷர் அசிமாவையும், And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

31 ஆவியர் நிபேகாசையும் தர்தாக்கையும் உண்டாக்கினார்கள், செப்பர்வியர் செப்பர்வாயீமின் தேவர்களாகிய அத்ரமலேக்குக்கும் அன்னமலேக்குக்கும் தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளை அக்கினியில் தகனித்து வந்தார்கள். And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

32 அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்ததுமன்றி, மேடைகளிலுள்ள கோவில்களில் தங்களுக்காக ஆராதனை செய்கிறதற்கு, தங்களுக்குள் ஈனமானவர்களை ஆசாரியர்களாகவும் ஏற்படுத்தினார்கள். So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

33 அப்படியே கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்தும், தாங்கள் விட்டுவந்த ஜாதிகளுடைய முறைமையின்படியே தங்கள் தேவர்களைச் சேவித்தும் வந்தார்கள். They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.

34 இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் அவர்கள் தங்கள் முந்தின முறைகளின்படியே செய்து வருகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கிறதுமில்லை, தங்கள் சுயதிட்டங்கள் முறைமைகளின் படியாகிலும், கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் என்று பேரிட்ட யாக்கோபின் புத்திரருக்குக் கற்பித்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கும் கற்பனைக்கும் ஒத்தபடியாகிலும் செய்கிறதுமில்லை. Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

35 கர்த்தர் இவர்களோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணி, இவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்தது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாமலும், அவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளாமலும், சேவியாமலும், அவர்களுக்குப் பலியிடாமலும், With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

36 உங்களை மகா வல்லமையினாலும் ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணின கர்த்தருக்கே பயந்து, அவரையே பணிந்துகொண்டு, அவருக்கே பலியிட்டு, But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

37 அவர் உங்களுக்கு எழுதிக்கொடுத்த திட்டங்களின்படியும், முறைமைகளின்படியும், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியும், கற்பனைகளின்படியும், நீங்கள் சகல நாளும் செய்கிறதற்குக் கவனமாயிருந்து அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாதிருங்கள். And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

38 நான் உங்களோடே பண்ணின உடன்படிக்கையை நீங்கள் மறவாமலும், அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாமலும், And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

39 உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கே பயந்து நடப்பீர்களாக; அப்பொழுது அவர் உங்கள் எல்லாச் சத்துருக்களின் கைக்கும் உங்களைத் தப்புவிப்பார் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தார். But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

40 ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் செவிகொடாமல் தங்கள் முந்தின முறைமைகளின்படியே செய்தார்கள். Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.

41 அப்படியே அந்த ஜாதிகள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்தும், தங்கள் விக்கிரகங்களைச் சேவித்தும் வந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளின் பிள்ளைகளும் தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் செய்தபடியே இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் செய்துவருகிறார்கள். So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

1 Yoothaavin raajaavaakiya aakaasin panniranndaam varushaththil, aelaavin kumaaranaakiya oseyaa isravaelinmael raajaavaaki, samaariyaavilae onpathuvarusham raajyapaarampannnni, In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

2 Karththarin paarvaikkup pollaappaanathaich seythaan; aanaalum thanakku munniruntha isravaelin raajaakkalaip pol seyyavillai. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

3 Avanukku virothamaaka aseeriyaavin raajaavaakiya salmanaasaar vanthaan; appoluthu oseyaa avanaich sevikkiravanaaki, avanukkup pakuthikattinaan. Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.

4 Oseyaa ekipthin raajaavaakiya so enpavanidaththukku sthaanaapathikalai anuppinathum, thanakku varushanthoraுm seythathupol, pakuthi anuppaathae ponathumaana kalaka yosanaiyai aseeriyaavin raajaa oseyaavinidaththilae kanndu, avanaip pitiththuk kattich siraichchaாlaiyilae vaiththaan. 5 Aseeriyaa raajaa thaesam engum poy, samaariyaavukkum vanthu athai moontu varusham muttikkai pottirunthaan. Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.

6 Oseyaavin onpathaam varushaththil aseeriyaa raajaa samaariyaavaip pitiththu, isravaelai aseeriyaavukkuch siraiyaakak konndupoy, avarkalaik kosaan nathi oramaana aalaakilum aaporilum maethiyarin pattanangalilum kutiyaettinaan. In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

7 Ekipthin raajaavaakiya paarvonutaiya kaiyingeeliruntha thangalai ekipthu thaesaththilirunthu varappannnnina thangal thaevanaakiya karththarukku virothamaaka Israel puththirar paavanjaெythu, anniya thaevarkalukkup payanthu nadanthu, For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

8 Karththar Israel puththirarukku munpaakath thuraththina jaathikalin valipaadukalilum Israel raajaakkalin valipaadukalilum nadanthukonntirunthaarkal. And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

9 Seyyaththakaatha kaariyangalai Israel puththirar thangal thaevanaakiya karththarukku virothamaaka irakasiyaththil seythathumanti, kaavalkaakkira kopurangal thodangi arannaana pattanangal mattumulla thangal oorkalilellaam thangalukku maetaikalaiyum katti, And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

10 Uyaramaana sakala maettinmaelum pachchaைyaana sakala maraththingeelum thangalukkuch silaikalaiyum vikkirakath thoppukalaiyum niraுththi, And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

11 Karththar thangalai vittuk kutivilakkina jaathikalaippola, sakala maetaikalilum thoopangaatti, karththarukkuk kopamunndaakath thurkkiriyaikalaich seythu, And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:

12 Ippatich seyyaththakaathu entu Karththar thangalukkuch solliyirunthum, narakalaana vikkirakangalaich seviththuvanthaarkal. For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

13 Neengal ungal pollaatha valikalai vittuth thirumpi, naan ungal pithaakkalukkuk kattalaiyittathum, en ooliyakkaararaakiya theerkkatharisikalaik konndu ungalukkuch solliyanuppinathumaana niyaayappiramaanaththinpatiyellaam en karpanaikalaiyum en kattalaikalaiyum kaikkollungal entu Karththar theerkkatharisikal njaana thirushtikkaarar ellaaraiyungaொnndu isravaelukkum yoothaavukkum thidachchaாtchiyaay echchariththukkonntirunthum, Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

16 Thangal thaevanaakiya karththarin karpanaikalaiyellaam vittuvittu, iranndu kantukkuttikalaakiya vaarppiththa vikkirakangalaith thangalukku unndaakki, vikkirakath thoppukalai naatti, vaanaththin senaikalaiyellaam panninthukonndu, paakaalaich seviththaarkal. And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

17 Avarkal thangal kumaararaiyum thangal kumaaraththikalaiyum theekkadakkappannnni, kurikaettu nimiththangal paarththu, karththarukkuk kopamunndaakka avar paarvaikkup pollaappaanathaich seykiratharkuth thangalai vittaுp pottarkal. And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

18 Aakaiyaal Karththar isravaelinmael mikavum kopamatainthu, avarkalaith thammutaiya mukaththaivittu akattinaar; yoothaakoththiramaaththiramae meethiyaayittaு. Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

19 Yoothaa janangalum thangal thaevanaakiya karththarin karpanaikalaik kaikkollaamal Israel unndaakkina valipaadukalil nadanthaarkal. Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

20 Aakaiyaal Karththar Israel santhathiyaaraiyellaam purakkanniththu, avarkalaith thamathu mukaththaivittuth thallumattaka odukki, avarkalaik kollaikkaarar kaiyil oppukkoduththaar. And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

21 Isravaelar David vamsaththai vittup pirinthu, naepaaththin kumaaranaakiya yeropeyaamai raajaavaakkinaarkal; appoluthu yeropeyaam isravaelaik karththarai vittup pinvaangavum, periya paavaththaich seyyavumpannnninaan. 22 Appatiyae Israel puththirar yeropeyaam seytha ellaap paavangalilum nadanthu, For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;

23 Karththar theerkkatharisikalaakiya thammutaiya ooliyakkaarar ellaaraiyum konndu solliyirunthapati, avarkalaith thamathu samukaththaivittu akattaுkira varaikkum avaikalai vittu vilakaathirunthaarkal; ippatiyae isravaelar thangal thaesaththinintu aseeriyaavukkuk konndupokappattu innaalvaraikkum irukkiraarkal. Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

24 Aseeriyaa raajaa, paapilonilum, kooththaavilum, aapaavilum, aamaaththilum, sepparyaayimilum irunthu manusharai varappannnni, avarkalai Israel puththirarukkup pathilaakach samaariyaavin pattanangalilae kutiyaettinaan; ivarkal samaariyaavaich sonthamaayk kattikkonndu athin pattanangalilae kutiyirunthaarkal. And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

25 Avarkal angae kutiyaerinathu muthal, karththarukkup payappadaathathinaal, Karththar avarkalukkullae singangalai anuppinaar; avaikal avarkalil silaraik kontupottathu. And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

26 Appoluthu janangal aseeriyaa raajaavai Nnokki: neer ingaeyirunthu anuppi samaariyaavin pattanangalilae kutiyaettaுviththa jaathikal antha thaesaththu thaevanutaiya kaariyaththai ariyaathapatiyinaal, avar avarkalukkullae singangalai anuppinaar; antha thaesaththu thaevanutaiya kaariyaththai avarkal ariyaathapatiyinaal, avaikal avarkalaik kontupodukirathu entu sonnaarkal. Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

27 Atharku aseeriyaa raajaa: neengal angaeyirunthu konnduvantha aasaariyarkalil oruvanai angae alaiththuk konndupongal; avarkal angae kutiyirukkumpatikku, avan avarkalukku antha thaesaththu thaevanutaiya kaariyaththaip pothikkakkadavan entu kattalaiyittan. Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

28 Appatiyae avarkal samaariyaavilirunthu konndupoyiruntha aasaariyarkalil oruvan vanthu, peththaelilae kutiyirunthu, karththarukkup payanthu nadakkavaenntiya vithaththai avarkalukkup pothiththaan. Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.

29 Aanaalum anthantha jaathi thangal thangal thaevarkalaith thangalukku unndu pannnni, anthantha jaathiyaar kutiyaerina thangal thangal pattanangalil samaariyar unndupannnnina maetaikalin kovilkalil vaiththaarkal. Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.

30 Paapilonin manushar sukkoth penoththaiyum, kooththin manushar naerkaalaiyum, aamaaththin manushar asimaavaiyum, And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

31 Aaviyar nipaekaasaiyum tharthaakkaiyum unndaakkinaarkal, sepparviyar sepparvaayeemin thaevarkalaakiya athramalaekkukkum annamalaekkukkum thangal pillaikalai akkiniyil thakaniththu vanthaarkal. So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

33 Appatiyae karththarukkup payanthum, thaangal vittuvantha jaathikalutaiya muraimaiyinpatiyae thangal thaevarkalaich seviththum vanthaarkal. They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.

34 Innaalvaraikkum avarkal thangal munthina muraikalinpatiyae seythu varukiraarkal; avarkal karththarukkup payanthu nadakkirathumillai, thangal suyathittangal muraimaikalin patiyaakilum, Karththar Israel entu paeritta yaakkopin puththirarukkuk karpiththa niyaayappiramaanaththirkum karpanaikkum oththapatiyaakilum seykirathumillai. Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

35 Karththar ivarkalotae udanpatikkaipannnni, ivarkalukkuk karpiththathu ennavental: neengal anniya thaevarkalukkup payappadaamalum, avarkalaip panninthukollaamalum, seviyaamalum, avarkalukkup paliyidaamalum, With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

36 Ungalai makaa vallamaiyinaalum ongiya puyaththinaalum ekipthuthaesaththilirunthu varappannnnina karththarukkae payanthu, avaraiyae panninthukonndu, avarukkae paliyittu, But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

37 Avar ungalukku eluthikkoduththa thittangalinpatiyum, muraimaikalinpatiyum, niyaayappiramaanaththinpatiyum, karpanaikalinpatiyum, neengal sakala naalum seykiratharkuk kavanamaayirunthu anniya thaevarkalukkup payappadaathirungal. And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

38 Naan ungalotae pannnnina udanpatikkaiyai neengal maravaamalum, anniya thaevarkalukkup payappadaamalum, And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

39 Ungal thaevanaakiya karththarukkae payanthu nadappeerkalaaka; appoluthu avar ungal ellaach saththurukkalin kaikkum ungalaith thappuvippaar entu avarkalukkuch solliyirunthaar. But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

40 Aanaalum avarkal sevikodaamal thangal munthina muraimaikalinpatiyae seythaarkal. Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.

41 Appatiyae antha jaathikal karththarukkup payanthum, thangal vikkirakangalaich seviththum vanthaarkal; avarkal pillaikalum avarkal pillaikalin pillaikalum thangal pithaakkal seythapatiyae innaalvaraikkum seythuvarukiraarkal. So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.
