1 சாலொமோன் எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோனோடே சம்பந்தங்கலந்து, பார்வோனின் குமாரத்தியை விவாகம்பண்ணி, தன்னுடைய அரமனையையும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தையும் எருசலேமின் சுற்றுமதிலையும் கட்டித் தீருமட்டும் அவன் அவளைத் தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து வைத்தான். And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

2 அந்நாட்கள்மட்டும் கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்திற்கு ஒரு ஆலயம் கட்டப்படாதிருந்ததினால், ஜனங்கள் மேடைகளிலே பலியிட்டுவந்தார்கள். Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.

3 சாலொமோன் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் அன்புகூர்ந்து, தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் கட்டளைகளில் நடந்தான்; ஆனாலும் அவன் மேடைகளிலே பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டி வந்தான். And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

4 அப்படியே ராஜா பலியிட கிபியோனுக்குப் போனான்; அது பெரிய மேடையாயிருந்தது; அந்தப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் சாலொமோன் ஆயிரம் சர்வாங்க தகன பலிகளைச் செலுத்தினான். And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

5 கிபியோனிலே கர்த்தர் சாலொமோனுக்கு இராத்திரியில் சொப்பனத்திலே தரிசனமாகி: நீ விரும்புகிறதை என்னிடத்தில் கேள் என்று தேவன் சொன்னார். In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

6 அதற்குச் சாலொமோன் என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீது என்னும் உமது அடியான் உம்மைப்பற்றி உண்மையும் நீதியும் மன நேர்மையுமாய் உமக்கு முன்பாக நடந்தபடியே தேவரீர் அவருக்குப் பெரிய கிருபைசெய்து, அந்தப் பெரிய கிருபையை அவருக்குக் காத்து, இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறபடியே அவருடைய சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கிற ஒரு குமாரனை அவருக்குத் தந்தீர். And Solomon said, Thou hast showed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

7 இப்போதும் என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, தேவரீர் உமது அடியேனை என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் ஸ்தானத்திலே ராஜாவாக்கினீரே, நானோவென்றால் போக்கு வரவு அறியாத சிறுபிள்ளையாயிருக்கிறேன். And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

8 நீர் தெரிந்துகொண்டதும் ஏராளத்தினால் எண்ணிக்கைக்கு அடங்காததும் இலக்கத்திற்கு உட்படாததுமான திரளான ஜனங்களாகிய உமது ஜனத்தின் நடுவில் அடியேன் இருக்கிறேன். And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

9 ஆகையால் உமது ஜனங்களை நியாயம் விசாரிக்கவும், நன்மைதீமை இன்னதென்று வகையறுக்கவும், அடியேனுக்கு ஞானமுள்ள இருதயத்தைத் தந்தருளும்; ஏராளமாயிருக்கிற இந்த உமது ஜனங்களை நியாயம் விசாரிக்க யாராலே ஆகும் என்றான். Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

10 சாலொமோன் இந்தக் காரியத்தைக் கேட்டது ஆண்டவருடைய பார்வைக்கு உகந்த விண்ணப்பமாயிருந்தது. And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.

11 ஆகையினால் தேவன் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ உனக்கு நீடித்த நாட்களைக் கேளாமலும், ஐசுவரியத்தைக் கேளாமலும், உன் சத்துருக்களின் பிராணனைக் கேளாமலும், நீ இந்தக் காரியத்தையே கேட்டு, நியாயம் விசாரிக்கிறதற்கு ஏற்ற ஞானத்தை உனக்கு வேண்டிக்கொண்டபடியினால், And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

12 உன் வார்த்தைகளின்படி செய்தேன்; ஞானமும் உணர்வுமுள்ள இருதயத்தை உனக்குத் தந்தேன்; இதிலே உனக்குச் சரியானவன் உனக்குமுன் இருந்ததுமில்லை, உனக்குச் சரியானவன் உனக்குப்பின் எழும்புவதுமில்லை. Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

13 இதுவுமன்றி, நீ கேளாத ஐசுவரியத்தையும் மகிமையையும் உனக்குத் தந்தேன்; உன் நாட்களில் இருக்கிற ராஜாக்களில் ஒருவனும் உனக்குச் சரியானவன் இருப்பதில்லை. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honor: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

14 உன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீது நடந்தது போல, நீயும் என் கட்டளைகளையும் என் நியமங்களையும் கைக்கொண்டு, என் வழிகளில் நடப்பாயாகில், உன் நாட்களையும் நீடித்திருக்கப்பண்ணுவேன் என்றார். And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

15 சாலொமோனுக்கு நித்திரை தெளிந்தபோது, அது சொப்பனம் என்று அறிந்தான்; அவன் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து, கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாக நின்று, சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளையிட்டு, சமாதானபலிகளைச் செலுத்தி, தன் ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாருக்கும் விருந்துசெய்தான். And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

16 அப்பொழுது வேசிகளான இரண்டு ஸ்திரீகள் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்றார்கள். Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

17 அவர்களில் ஒருத்தி: என் ஆண்டவனே, நானும் இந்த ஸ்திரீயும் ஒரே வீட்டிலே குடியிருக்கிறோம்; நான் இவளோடே வீட்டிலிருக்கையில் ஆண்பிள்ளை பெற்றேன். And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

18 நான் பிள்ளைபெற்ற மூன்றாம் நாளிலே, இந்த ஸ்திரீயும் ஆண்பிள்ளை பெற்றாள்; நாங்கள் ஒருமித்திருந்தோம், எங்கள் இருவரையும் தவிர, வீட்டுக்குள்ளே வேறொருவரும் இல்லை. And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

19 இராத்திரி தூக்கத்திலே இந்த ஸ்திரீ தன் பிள்ளையின்மேல் புரண்டுபடுத்ததினால் அது செத்துப்போயிற்று. And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

20 அப்பொழுது, உமது அடியாள் நித்திரைபண்ணுகையில், இவள் நடுஜாமத்தில் எழுந்து, என் பக்கத்திலே கிடக்கிற என் பிள்ளையை எடுத்து, தன் மார்பிலே கிடத்திக்கொண்டு, செத்த தன் பிள்ளையை எடுத்து, என் மார்பிலே கிடத்திவிட்டாள்; And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

21 என் பிள்ளைக்குப் பால்கொடுக்கக் காலமே நான் எழுந்திருந்த போது, அது செத்துக்கிடந்தது; பொழுது விடிந்தபின் நான் அதை உற்று பார்க்கும் போது, அது நான் பெற்றபிள்ளை அல்லவென்று கண்டேன் என்றாள். And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

22 அதற்கு மற்ற ஸ்திரீ: அப்படியல்ல, உயிரோடிருக்கிறது என் பிள்ளை, செத்தது உன் பிள்ளை என்றாள். இவளோ: இல்லை, செத்தது உன் பிள்ளை, உயிரோடிருக்கிறது என் பிள்ளை என்றாள்; இப்படி ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக வாதாடினார்கள். And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

23 அப்பொழுது ராஜா: உயிரோடிருக்கிறது என் பிள்ளை, செத்தது உன் பிள்ளை என்று இவள் சொல்லுகிறாள்; அப்படியல்ல, செத்தது உன் பிள்ளை, உயிரோடிருக்கிறது என் பிள்ளை என்று அவள் சொல்லுகிறாள் என்று சொல்லி, Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

24 ஒரு பட்டயத்தைக் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்; அவர்கள் ஒரு பட்டயத்தை ராஜாவினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

25 ராஜா உயிரோடிருக்கிற பிள்ளையை இரண்டாகப் பிளந்து, பாதியை இவளுக்கும் பாதியை அவளுக்கும் கொடுங்கள் என்றான். And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

26 அப்பொழுது உயிரோடிருக்கிற பிள்ளையின் தாய், தன் பிள்ளைக்காக அவள் குடல் துடித்ததினால், ராஜாவை நோக்கி: ஐயோ, என் ஆண்டவனே, உயிரோடிருக்கிற பிள்ளையைக் கொல்லவேண்டாம்; அதை அவளுக்கே கொடுத்துவிடும் என்றாள்; மற்றவள் அது எனக்கும் வேண்டாம், உனக்கும் வேண்டாம், பிளந்து போடுங்கள் என்றாள். Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

27 அப்பொழுது ராஜா உயிரோடிருக்கிற பிள்ளையைக் கொல்லாமல், அவளுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிடுங்கள்; அவளே அதின் தாய் என்றான். Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

28 ராஜா தீர்த்த இந்த நியாயத்தை இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரும் கேள்விப்பட்டு, நியாயம் விசாரிக்கிறதற்கு தேவன் அருளின ஞானம் ராஜாவுக்கு உண்டென்று கண்டு, அவனுக்குப் பயந்தார்கள். And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

1 Saalomon ekipthin raajaavaakiya paarvonotae sampanthangalanthu, paarvonin kumaaraththiyai vivaakampannnni, thannutaiya aramanaiyaiyum karththarutaiya aalayaththaiyum erusalaemin suttaுmathilaiyum kattith theerumattum avan avalaith thaaveethin nakaraththil konnduvanthu vaiththaan. And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

2 Annaatkalmattum karththarutaiya naamaththirku oru aalayam kattappadaathirunthathinaal, janangal maetaikalilae paliyittuvanthaarkal. Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.

3 Saalomon karththaridaththil anpukoornthu, than thakappanaakiya thaaveethin kattalaikalil nadanthaan; aanaalum avan maetaikalilae paliyittuth thoopangaatti vanthaan. And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

4 Appatiyae raajaa paliyida kipiyonukkup ponaan; athu periya maetaiyaayirunthathu; anthap palipeedaththinmael saalomon aayiram sarvaanga thakana palikalaich seluththinaan. And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

5 Kipiyonilae Karththar saalomonukku iraaththiriyil soppanaththilae tharisanamaaki: nee virumpukirathai ennidaththil kael entu Dhevan sonnaar. In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

6 Atharkuch saalomon en thakappanaakiya David ennum umathu atiyaan ummaippatti unnmaiyum neethiyum mana naermaiyumaay umakku munpaaka nadanthapatiyae thaevareer avarukkup periya kirupaiseythu, anthap periya kirupaiyai avarukkuk kaaththu, innaalil irukkirapatiyae avarutaiya singaasanaththil veettirukkira oru kumaaranai avarukkuth thantheer. And Solomon said, Thou hast showed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

7 Ippothum en thaevanaakiya karththaavae, thaevareer umathu atiyaenai en thakappanaakiya thaaveethin sthaanaththilae raajaavaakkineerae, naanovental pokku varavu ariyaatha siraுpillaiyaayirukkiraேn. And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

8 Neer therinthukonndathum aeraalaththinaal ennnnikkaikku adangaathathum ilakkaththirku utpadaathathumaana thiralaana janangalaakiya umathu janaththin naduvil atiyaen irukkiraேn. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

9 Aakaiyaal umathu janangalai niyaayam visaarikkavum, nanmaitheemai innathentu vakaiyaraுkkavum, atiyaenukku njaanamulla iruthayaththaith thantharulum; aeraalamaayirukkira intha umathu janangalai niyaayam visaarikka yaaraalae aakum entan. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

10 Saalomon inthak kaariyaththaik kaettathu aanndavarutaiya paarvaikku ukantha vinnnappamaayirunthathu. And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.

11 Aakaiyinaal Dhevan avanai Nnokki: nee unakku neetiththa naatkalaik kaelaamalum, aisuvariyaththaik kaelaamalum, un saththurukkalin piraananaik kaelaamalum, nee inthak kaariyaththaiyae kaettu, niyaayam visaarikkiratharku aetta njaanaththai unakku vaenntikkonndapatiyinaal, And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

12 Un vaarththaikalinpati seythaen; njaanamum unarvumulla iruthayaththai unakkuth thanthaen; ithilae unakkuch sariyaanavan unakkumun irunthathumillai, unakkuch sariyaanavan unakkuppin elumpuvathumillai. Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

13 Ithuvumanti, nee kaelaatha aisuvariyaththaiyum makimaiyaiyum unakkuth thanthaen; un naatkalil irukkira raajaakkalil oruvanum unakkuch sariyaanavan iruppathillai. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honor: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

14 Un thakappanaakiya David nadanthathu pola, neeyum en kattalaikalaiyum en niyamangalaiyum kaikkonndu, en valikalil nadappaayaakil, un naatkalaiyum neetiththirukkappannnuvaen entar. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

15 Saalomonukku niththirai thelinthapothu, athu soppanam entu arinthaan; avan erusalaemukku vanthu, karththarutaiya udanpatikkaip pettikku munpaaka nintu, sarvaanga thakanapalikalaiyittu, samaathaanapalikalaich seluththi, than ooliyakkaarar ellaarukkum virunthuseythaan. And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

16 Appoluthu vaesikalaana iranndu sthireekal raajaavinidaththil vanthu, avanukku munpaaka nintarkal. Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

17 Avarkalil oruththi: en aanndavanae, naanum intha sthireeyum orae veettilae kutiyirukkirom; naan ivalotae veettilirukkaiyil aannpillai petten. And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

18 Naan pillaipetta moontam naalilae, intha sthireeyum aannpillai pettaாl; naangal orumiththirunthom, engal iruvaraiyum thavira, veettukkullae vaeroruvarum illai. And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

19 Iraaththiri thookkaththilae intha sthiree than pillaiyinmael puranndupaduththathinaal athu seththuppoyittaு. And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

20 Appoluthu, umathu atiyaal niththiraipannnukaiyil, ival nadujaamaththil elunthu, en pakkaththilae kidakkira en pillaiyai eduththu, than maarpilae kidaththikkonndu, seththa than pillaiyai eduththu, en maarpilae kidaththivittal; And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

21 En pillaikkup paalkodukkak kaalamae naan elunthiruntha pothu, athu seththukkidanthathu; poluthu vitinthapin naan athai uttaு paarkkum pothu, athu naan pettapillai allaventu kanntaen ental. And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

22 Atharku matta sthiree: appatiyalla, uyirotirukkirathu en pillai, seththathu un pillai ental. Ivalo: illai, seththathu un pillai, uyirotirukkirathu en pillai ental; ippati raajaavukku munpaaka vaathaatinaarkal. And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

23 Appoluthu raajaa: uyirotirukkirathu en pillai, seththathu un pillai entu ival sollukiraal; appatiyalla, seththathu un pillai, uyirotirukkirathu en pillai entu aval sollukiraal entu solli, Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

24 Oru pattayaththaik konnduvaarungal entan; avarkal oru pattayaththai raajaavinidaththil konnduvanthaarkal. And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

25 Raajaa uyirotirukkira pillaiyai iranndaakap pilanthu, paathiyai ivalukkum paathiyai avalukkum kodungal entan. And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

26 Appoluthu uyirotirukkira pillaiyin thaay, than pillaikkaaka aval kudal thutiththathinaal, raajaavai Nnokki: aiyo, en aanndavanae, uyirotirukkira pillaiyaik kollavaenndaam; athai avalukkae koduththuvidum ental; mattaval athu enakkum vaenndaam, unakkum vaenndaam, pilanthu podungal ental. Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

27 Appoluthu raajaa uyirotirukkira pillaiyaik kollaamal, avalukkuk koduththuvidungal; avalae athin thaay entan. Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

28 Raajaa theerththa intha niyaayaththai isravaelar ellaarum kaelvippattu, niyaayam visaarikkiratharku Dhevan arulina njaanam raajaavukku unndentu kanndu, avanukkup payanthaarkal. And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.
