1 Kings 18 in Tamil

1 அநேகநாள் சென்று, மூன்றாம் வருஷமாகையில், கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை எலியாவுக்கு உண்டாகி: நீ போய் ஆகாபுக்கு உன்னைக் காண்பி; நான் தேசத்தின்மேல் மழையைக் கட்டளையிடுவேன் என்றார். And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

2 அப்பொழுது எலியா ஆகாபுக்குத் தன்னைக் காண்பிக்கப்போனான்; பஞ்சமோவெனில் சமாரியாவிலே கொடிதாயிருந்தது. And Elijah went to show himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.

3 ஆனபடியால் ஆகாப் அரமனை விசாரிப்புக்காரனாகிய ஒபதியாவை அழைப்பித்தான்; ஒபதியா கர்த்தருக்கு மிகவும் பயந்து நடக்கிறவனாயிருந்தான். And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:

4 யேசபேல் கர்த்தரின் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைச் சங்கரிக்கிறபோது, ஒபதியா நூறு தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைச் சேர்த்து, அவர்களைக் கெபிக்கு ஐம்பது ஐம்பது பேராக ஒளித்துவைத்து, அவர்களுக்கு அப்பமும் தண்ணீரும் கொடுத்து, அவர்களைப் பராமரித்துவந்தான். For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

5 ஆகாப் ஒபதியாவைப் பார்த்து: நீ தேசத்திலிருக்கிற எல்லா நீரூற்றுகளிடத்திலும், எல்லா ஆறுகளிடத்திலும் போ; நாம் சகல மிருகஜீவன்களையும் சாகக்கொடாமல், குதிரைகளையும் கோவேறு கழுதைகளையுமாவது உயிரோடே காப்பாற்றும்படிக்கு நமக்குப் புல் அகப்படுமா என்று பார் என்றான். And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.

6 அப்படியே தேசத்தைச் சுற்றிப் பார்க்கும்படி, அதைப் பகுத்துக்கொண்டு, ஆகாப் ஒரு வழியாயும், ஒபதியா வேறொரு வழியாயும் போனார்கள். So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.

7 ஒபதியா வழியில் போகுபோது, எலியா அவனுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டான்; அவன் இவனை இன்னான் என்று அறிந்து, முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து, நீர் என் ஆண்டவனாகிய எலியா அல்லவா என்று கேட்டதற்கு; And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord Elijah?

As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.

11 இப்போதும் நீ போய், உன் ஆண்டவனுக்கு, இதோ, எலியா வந்திருக்கிறான் என்று சொல் என்று நீர் சொல்லுகிறீரே. And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

12 நான் உம்மை விட்டுப்போனவுடனே ஒருவேளை கர்த்தருடைய ஆவியானவர் உம்மை எடுத்து, நான் அறியாத இடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோவார்; அப்பொழுது நான் ஆகாபிடத்திற்குப் போய் அறிவித்த பின்பு, அவன் உம்மைக் காணாவிட்டால், என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடுவானே; உமது அடியானாகிய நான் சிறுவயதுமுதல் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கிறவன். And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.

14 இப்போதும் என் ஆண்டவன் என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடும்படியாக, நீர்: இதோ, எலியா வந்திருக்கிறான் என்று போய் அவனுக்குச் சொல் என்று சொல்லுகிறீரே என்றான். And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me.

15 அதற்கு எலியா: இன்றைக்கு என்னை அவனுக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன் என்று சேனைகளின் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கிற நான் அவருடைய ஜீவனைக் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான். And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him to day.

16 அப்பொழுது ஒபதியா போய், ஆகாபைச் சந்தித்து அவனுக்கு அதை அறிவித்தவுடனே, ஆகாப் எலியாவைச் சந்திக்கப்போனான். So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

17 ஆகாப் எலியாவைக் கண்டபோது, ஆகாப் அவனை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணுகிறவன் நீயல்லவா என்றான். And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?

18 அதற்கு அவன்: இஸ்ரவேலைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணுகிறவன் நான் அல்ல; கர்த்தரின் கட்டளைகளை விட்டு பாகால்களைப் பின்பற்றினதினால் நீரும் உம்முடைய தகப்பன் வீட்டாருமே இஸ்ரவேலைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணுகிறவர்கள். And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.

19 இப்போதும் கர்மேல் பர்வதத்திலே இஸ்ரவேலனைத்தையும், பாகாலின் தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் நானூற்றைம்பதுபேரையும், யேசபேலின் பந்தியிலே சாப்பிடுகிற தோப்பு விக்கிரகத்தின் தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் நானூறுபேரையும் என்னிடத்தில் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவர ஆட்களை அனுப்பும் என்றான். Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.

20 அப்படியே ஆகாப்: இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எல்லாரிடத்திலும் ஆட்களை அனுப்பி, கர்மேல் பர்வதத்திலே அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கூடிவரும்படி செய்தான். So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.

21 அப்பொழுது எலியா சகல ஜனத்தண்டைக்கும் வந்து: நீங்கள் எந்தமட்டும் இரண்டு நினைவுகளால் குந்திக்குந்தி நடப்பீர்கள்; கர்த்தர் தெய்வமானால் அவரைப் பின்பற்றுங்கள்; பாகால் தெய்வமானால் அவனைப் பின்பற்றுங்கள் என்றான், ஜனங்கள் பிரதியுத்தரமாக அவனுக்கு ஒன்றும் சொல்லவில்லை. And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

22 அப்பொழுது எலியா ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: கர்த்தரின் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளில் மீந்திருக்கிறவன் நான் ஒருவன்; பாகாலின் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளோ நானூற்றைம்பதுபேர். Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

23 இப்போதும் இரண்டு காளைகளை எங்களிடத்தில் கொண்டுவரட்டும்; ஒரு காளையை அவர்கள் தெரிந்துகொண்டு, அதைச் சந்துசந்தாகத் துண்டித்து, நெருப்புப் போடாமல் விறகுகளின்மேல் வைக்கக் கடவர்கள்; நான் மற்றக் காளையை அப்படியே செய்து, நெருப்புப் போடாமல் விறகுகளின்மேல் வைப்பேன். 24 நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனுடைய நாமத்தைச் சொல்லிக் கூப்பிடுங்கள்; நான் கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தைச் சொல்லிக் கூப்ʠοடுவேன்; ŠΪ்பொழுது அக்கினியினால் உத்தரவு அருளும் தெய்வமே தெய்வம் என்றான்; அதற்கு ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் இது நல்ல வார்த்தை என்றார்கள். And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

25 அப்பொழுது எலியா பாகாலின் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் அநேகரானதால் நீங்களே முந்தி ஒரு காளையைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு அதை ஆயத்தம் பண்ணி, நெருப்புப்போடாமல் உங்கள் தேவனுடைய நாமத்தைச் சொல்லிக் கூப்பிடுங்கள் என்றான். And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.

26 தங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட காளையை அவர்கள் வாங்கி, அதை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணி: பாகாலே, எங்களுக்கு உத்தரவு அருளும் என்று காலைதொடங்கி மத்தியானமட்டும் பாகாலின் நாமத்தைச் சொல்லிக் கூப்பிட்டார்கள்; ஆனாலும் ஒரு சத்தமும் பிறக்கவில்லை, மறு உத்தரவு கொடுப்பாரும் இல்லை. அவர்கள் கட்டின பலிபீடத்திற்கு எதிரே குதித்து ஆடினார்கள். And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.

27 மத்தியானவேளையிலே எலியா அவர்களைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணி: உரத்த சத்தமாய்க் கூப்பிடுங்கள்; அவன் தேவனாமே, அவன் தியானத்தில் இருப்பான்; அல்லது அலுவலாயிருப்பான்; அல்லது பிரயாணம்போயிருப்பான்; அல்லது தூங்கினாலும் தூங்குவான்; அவனை எழுப்பவேண்டியதாக்கும் என்றான். And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.

28 அவர்கள் உரத்தசத்தமாய்க் கூப்பிட்டு, தங்கள் வழக்கத்தின்படியே இரத்தம் தங்கள்மேல் வடியுமட்டும் கத்திகளாலும் ஈட்டிகளாலும் தங்களைக் கீறிக்கொண்டார்கள். And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.

29 மத்தியானவேளை சென்றபின்பு, அந்திப்பலிசெலுத்தும் நேரமட்டாகச் சன்னதம் சொல்லிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் ஒரு சத்தமும் பிறக்கவில்லை, மறு உத்தரவு கொடுப்பாரும் இல்லை, கவனிப்பாரும் இல்லை. And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

30 அப்பொழுது எலியா சகல ஜனங்களையும் நோக்கி: என் கிட்டே வாருங்கள் என்றான்; சகல ஜனங்களும் அவன் கிட்டே வந்தபோது, தகர்க்கப்பட்ட கர்த்தருடைய பலிபீடத்தை அவன் செப்பனிட்டு; And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

31 உனக்கு இஸ்ரவேல் என்னும் பேர் இருப்பதாக என்று சொல்லி, கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைப்பெற்ற யாக்கோபுடைய குமாரரால் உண்டான கோத்திரங்களுடைய இலக்கத்தின்படியே, பன்னிரண்டு கற்களை எடுத்து, And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:

32 அந்தக் கற்களாலே கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்திற்கென்று ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டி, பலிபீடத்தைச் சுற்றிலும் தானியம் அளக்கிற இரண்டுபடி விதை விதைக்கத்தக்க இடமான ஒரு வாய்க்காலை உண்டாக்கி, And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

33 விறகுகளை அடுக்கி, ஒரு காளையைச் சந்துசந்தாகத் துண்டித்து விறகுகளின் மேல் வைத்தான். And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.

35 அப்பொழுது தண்ணீர் பலிபீடத்தைச் சுற்றிலும் ஓடினது; வாய்க்காலையும் தண்ணீரால் நிரப்பினான். And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

36 அந்திப்பலி செலுத்தும் நேரத்திலே, தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய எலியா வந்து: ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் ஈசாக்குக்கும் யாக்கோபுக்கும் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, இஸ்ரவேலிலே நீர் தேவன் என்றும், நான் உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரன் என்றும், நான் இந்தக் காரியங்களையெல்லாம் உம்முடைய வார்த்தையின்படி செய்தேன் என்றும் இன்றைக்கு விளங்கப்பண்ணும். And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

37 கர்த்தாவே, நீர் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் என்றும், தேவரீர் தங்கள் இருதயத்தை மறுபடியும் திருப்பினீர் என்றும் இந்த ஜனங்கள் அறியும்படிக்கு, என்னைக் கேட்டருளும், என்னைக் கேட்டருளும் என்றான். Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

38 அப்பொழுது: கர்த்தரிடத்தில் இருந்து அக்கினி இறங்கி, அந்தச் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியையும், விறகுகளையும், கற்களையும், மண்ணையும் பட்சித்து, வாய்க்காலிலிருந்த தண்ணீரையும் நக்கிப்போட்டது. Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

39 ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் இதைக் கண்டபோது, முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து: கர்த்தரே தெய்வம், கர்த்தரே தெய்வம் என்றார்கள். And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.

40 அப்பொழுது எலியா அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் பாகாலின் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளில் ஒருவனும் தப்பிப்போகாதபடிக்கு அவர்களைப் பிடியுங்கள் என்றான்; அவர்களைப் பிடித்தபோது, எலியா அவர்களைக் கீழே கீசோன் ஆற்றங்கரையிலே கொண்டுபோய், அங்கே அவர்களை வெட்டிப்போட்டான். And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

44 ஏழாந்தரம் இவன்: இதோ, சமுத்திரத்திலிருந்து ஒரு மனுஷனுடைய உள்ளங்கை அத்தனைச் சிறிய மேகம் எழும்புகிறது என்றான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் நீ போய், ஆகாபை நோக்கி: மழை உம்மைத் தடைசெய்யாதபடிக்கு இரதத்தைப் பூட்டி, போய்விடும் என்று சொல் என்றாள். And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.

45 அதற்குள்ளாக வானம் மேகங்களினாலும் காற்றினாலும் கறுத்து பெருமழை உண்டாயிற்று; ஆகாப் இரதத்தில் ஏறி யெஸ்ரயேலுக்குப் போனான். And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

46 கர்த்தருடைய கை எலியாவின்மேல் இருந்ததினால், அவன் தன் அரையைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, யெஸ்ரயேலுக்கு வருமட்டாக ஆகாபுக்குமுன் ஓடினான். And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

2 Appoluthu eliyaa aakaapukkuth thannaik kaannpikkapponaan; panjamovenil samaariyaavilae kotithaayirunthathu. And Elijah went to show himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.

3 Aanapatiyaal aakaap aramanai visaarippukkaaranaakiya opathiyaavai alaippiththaan; opathiyaa karththarukku mikavum payanthu nadakkiravanaayirunthaan. And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:

4 Yaesapael karththarin theerkkatharisikalaich sangarikkirapothu, opathiyaa nooraு theerkkatharisikalaich serththu, avarkalaik kepikku aimpathu aimpathu paeraaka oliththuvaiththu, avarkalukku appamum thannnneerum koduththu, avarkalaip paraamariththuvanthaan. For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

5 Aakaap opathiyaavaip paarththu: nee thaesaththilirukkira ellaa neeroottaுkalidaththilum, ellaa aaraுkalidaththilum po; naam sakala mirukajeevankalaiyum saakakkodaamal, kuthiraikalaiyum kovaeraு kaluthaikalaiyumaavathu uyirotae kaappaattaுmpatikku namakkup pul akappadumaa entu paar entan. And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.

6 Appatiyae thaesaththaich suttip paarkkumpati, athaip pakuththukkonndu, aakaap oru valiyaayum, opathiyaa vaeroru valiyaayum ponaarkal. So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.

7 Opathiyaa valiyil pokupothu, eliyaa avanukku ethirppattan; avan ivanai innaan entu arinthu, mukanguppura vilunthu, neer en aanndavanaakiya eliyaa allavaa entu kaettatharku; And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord Elijah?

8 Avan, naanthaan; nee poy, itho, eliyaa vanthirukkiraan entu un aanndavanukkuch sol entan. And he answered him, I am: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

9 Atharku avan: aakaap ennaik kontupodumpatikku, neer umathu atiyaanai avan kaiyil oppukkodukka naan enna paavam seythaen. And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?

10 Ummaith thaedumpati en aanndavan manusharai anuppaatha jaathiyum raajyamum illai entu ummutaiya thaevanaakiya karththarin jeevanaikkonndu sollukiraேn; neer illaiyentu avarkal sonnapothu, avan antha raajyaththaiyum antha jaathiyaiyum ummaik kaanavillai entu saththiyam vaangi konndaan. As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.

11 Ippothum nee poy, un aanndavanukku, itho, eliyaa vanthirukkiraan entu sol entu neer sollukireerae. And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

12 Naan ummai vittupponavudanae oruvaelai karththarutaiya Aaviyaanavar ummai eduththu, naan ariyaatha idaththirkuk konndupovaar; appoluthu naan aakaapidaththirkup poy ariviththa pinpu, avan ummaik kaannaavittal, ennaik kontupoduvaanae; umathu atiyaanaakiya naan siraுvayathumuthal karththarukkup payanthu nadakkiravan. And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.

13 Yaesapael karththarin theerkkatharisikalaik kontupodukirapothu, naan karththarutaiya theerkkatharisikalil nooraு paerai ovvoru kepiyilae aimpathu aimpathu paeraaka oliththuvaiththu, avarkalukku appamum thannnneerum koduththu, paraamariththuvantha ennutaiya seykai en aanndavanukku arivikkappadavillaiyo? Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

14 Ippothum en aanndavan ennaik kontupodumpatiyaaka, neer: itho, eliyaa vanthirukkiraan entu poy avanukkuch sol entu sollukireerae entan. And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me.

15 Atharku eliyaa: intaikku ennai avanukkuk kaannpippaen entu senaikalin karththarukku munpaaka nirkira naan avarutaiya jeevanaik konndu sollukiraேn entan. And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him to day.

16 Appoluthu opathiyaa poy, aakaapaich santhiththu avanukku athai ariviththavudanae, aakaap eliyaavaich santhikkapponaan. So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

17 Aakaap eliyaavaik kanndapothu, aakaap avanai Nnokki: isravaelaik kalangappannnukiravan neeyallavaa entan. And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?

18 Atharku avan: isravaelaik kalangappannnukiravan naan alla; karththarin kattalaikalai vittu paakaalkalaip pinpattinathinaal neerum ummutaiya thakappan veettarumae isravaelaik kalangappannnukiravarkal. And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.

19 Ippothum karmael parvathaththilae isravaelanaiththaiyum, paakaalin theerkkatharisikal naanoottaைmpathupaeraiyum, yaesapaelin panthiyilae saappidukira thoppu vikkirakaththin theerkkatharisikal naanooraுpaeraiyum ennidaththil koottikkonnduvara aatkalai anuppum entan. Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.

20 Appatiyae aakaap: Israel puththirar ellaaridaththilum aatkalai anuppi, karmael parvathaththilae anthath theerkkatharisikalaik kootivarumpati seythaan. So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.

21 Appoluthu eliyaa sakala janaththanntaikkum vanthu: neengal enthamattum iranndu ninaivukalaal kunthikkunthi nadappeerkal; Karththar theyvamaanaal avaraip pinpattaுngal; paakaal theyvamaanaal avanaip pinpattaுngal entan, janangal pirathiyuththaramaaka avanukku ontum sollavillai. And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

22 Appoluthu eliyaa janangalai Nnokki: karththarin theerkkatharisikalil meenthirukkiravan naan oruvan; paakaalin theerkkatharisikalo naanoottaைmpathupaer. Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

23 Ippothum iranndu kaalaikalai engalidaththil konnduvarattum; oru kaalaiyai avarkal therinthukonndu, athaich santhusanthaakath thunntiththu, neruppup podaamal virakukalinmael vaikkak kadavarkal; naan mattak kaalaiyai appatiyae seythu, neruppup podaamal virakukalinmael vaippaen. Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:

24 Neengal ungal thaevanutaiya naamaththaich sollik kooppidungal; naan karththarutaiya naamaththaich sollik koopʠοduvaen; ŠΪ்poluthu akkiniyinaal uththaravu arulum theyvamae theyvam entan; atharku janangalellaarum ithu nalla vaarththai entarkal. And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

25 Appoluthu eliyaa paakaalin theerkkatharisikalai Nnokki: neengal anaekaraanathaal neengalae munthi oru kaalaiyaith therinthukonndu athai aayaththam pannnni, neruppuppodaamal ungal thaevanutaiya naamaththaich sollik kooppidungal entan. And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.

26 Thangalukkuk kodukkappatta kaalaiyai avarkal vaangi, athai aayaththampannnni: paakaalae, engalukku uththaravu arulum entu kaalaithodangi maththiyaanamattum paakaalin naamaththaich sollik kooppittarkal; aanaalum oru saththamum pirakkavillai, maraு uththaravu koduppaarum illai. Avarkal kattina palipeedaththirku ethirae kuthiththu aatinaarkal. And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.

27 Maththiyaanavaelaiyilae eliyaa avarkalaip pariyaasampannnni: uraththa saththamaayk kooppidungal; avan thaevanaamae, avan thiyaanaththil iruppaan; allathu aluvalaayiruppaan; allathu pirayaanampoyiruppaan; allathu thoonginaalum thoonguvaan; avanai eluppavaenntiyathaakkum entan. And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.

28 Avarkal uraththasaththamaayk kooppittu, thangal valakkaththinpatiyae iraththam thangalmael vatiyumattum kaththikalaalum eettikalaalum thangalaik geerikkonndaarkal. And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.

29 Maththiyaanavaelai sentapinpu, anthippaliseluththum naeramattakach sannatham sollikkonntirunthaarkal; aanaalum oru saththamum pirakkavillai, maraு uththaravu koduppaarum illai, kavanippaarum illai. And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

30 Appoluthu eliyaa sakala janangalaiyum Nnokki: en kittaே vaarungal entan; sakala janangalum avan kittaே vanthapothu, thakarkkappatta karththarutaiya palipeedaththai avan seppanittu; And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

31 Unakku Israel ennum paer iruppathaaka entu solli, karththarutaiya vaarththaiyaippetta yaakkoputaiya kumaararaal unndaana koththirangalutaiya ilakkaththinpatiyae, panniranndu karkalai eduththu, And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:

32 Anthak karkalaalae karththarutaiya naamaththirkentu oru palipeedaththaik katti, palipeedaththaich suttilum thaaniyam alakkira iranndupati vithai vithaikkaththakka idamaana oru vaaykkaalai unndaakki, And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

33 Virakukalai adukki, oru kaalaiyaich santhusanthaakath thunntiththu virakukalin mael vaiththaan. And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.

34 Pirpaadu avan: neengal naalukudam thannnneer konnduvanthu, sarvaanga thakanapaliyinmaelum, virakukalinmaelum oottaுngal entan; pinpu iranndaantharamum appatiyae oottaுngal entan; iranndaantharamum oottinaarkal; atharkuppinpu moontantharamum appatiyae oottaுngal entan; moontantharamum oottinaarkal. And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.

35 Appoluthu thannnneer palipeedaththaich suttilum otinathu; vaaykkaalaiyum thannnneeraal nirappinaan. And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

36 Anthippali seluththum naeraththilae, theerkkatharisiyaakiya eliyaa vanthu: aapirakaamukkum eesaakkukkum yaakkopukkum thaevanaakiya karththaavae, isravaelilae neer Dhevan entum, naan ummutaiya ooliyakkaaran entum, naan inthak kaariyangalaiyellaam ummutaiya vaarththaiyinpati seythaen entum intaikku vilangappannnum. And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

37 Karththaavae, neer thaevanaakiya Karththar entum, thaevareer thangal iruthayaththai maraுpatiyum thiruppineer entum intha janangal ariyumpatikku, ennaik kaettarulum, ennaik kaettarulum entan. Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

38 Appoluthu: karththaridaththil irunthu akkini irangi, anthach sarvaanga thakanapaliyaiyum, virakukalaiyum, karkalaiyum, mannnnaiyum patchiththu, vaaykkaaliliruntha thannnneeraiyum nakkippottathu. Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

39 Janangalellaarum ithaik kanndapothu, mukanguppura vilunthu: karththarae theyvam, karththarae theyvam entarkal. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.

40 Appoluthu eliyaa avarkalai Nnokki: neengal paakaalin theerkkatharisikalil oruvanum thappippokaathapatikku avarkalaip pitiyungal entan; avarkalaip pitiththapothu, eliyaa avarkalaik geelae geeson aattangaraiyilae konndupoy, angae avarkalai vettippottan. And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

41 Pinpu eliyaa aakaapai Nnokki: neer pom, pojanapaanampannnum; perumalaiyin iraichchal kaetkappadukirathu entan. And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.

42 Aakaap pojanapaanam pannnapponaan; pinpu eliyaa karmael parvathaththinutaiya sikaraththinmael aeri, tharaiyilae panninthu, than mukam than mulangaalil pada kuninthu, So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

43 Than ooliyakkaaranai Nnokki: nee poych samuththiramukamaayp paar entan; avan poyp paarththu, ontum illai entan; nee innum aelutharam poyp paar entan. And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

44 Aelaantharam ivan: itho, samuththiraththilirunthu oru manushanutaiya ullangai aththanaich siriya maekam elumpukirathu entan; appoluthu avan nee poy, aakaapai Nnokki: malai ummaith thataiseyyaathapatikku irathaththaip pootti, poyvidum entu sol ental. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.

45 Atharkullaaka vaanam maekangalinaalum kaattinaalum karaுththu perumalai unndaayittaு; aakaap irathaththil aeri yesrayaelukkup ponaan. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

46 Karththarutaiya kai eliyaavinmael irunthathinaal, avan than araiyaik kattikkonndu, yesrayaelukku varumattaka aakaapukkumun otinaan. And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
