  1. הַֽלְלוּיָ֨הּ׀ Praise ye the Lord. hālal הוֹד֣וּ O give thanks yādâ לַיהוָ֣ה unto the Lord; yĕhōwâ כִּי for ט֑וֹב good: ṭôb כִּ֖י for לְעוֹלָ֣ם for ever. ʿôlām חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ his mercy ḥēsēd
  2. מִ֗י Who יְ֭מַלֵּל can utter mālal גְּבוּר֣וֹת the mighty acts gĕbûrâ יְהוָ֑ה of the Lord? yĕhōwâ יַ֝שְׁמִ֗יעַ can shew forth šāmaʿ כָּל all kōl תְּהִלָּתֽוֹ׃ his praise? tĕhillâ
  3. אַ֭שְׁרֵי Blessed ʾešer שֹׁמְרֵ֣י they that keep šāmar מִשְׁפָּ֑ט judgment, mišpāṭ עֹשֵׂ֖ה he that doeth ʿāśâ צְדָקָ֣ה righteousness ṣĕdāqâ בְכָל at all kōl עֵֽת׃ times. ʿēt
  4. זָכְרֵ֣נִי Remember zākar יְ֭הוָה me, O Lord, yĕhōwâ בִּרְצ֣וֹן with the favour rāṣôn עַמֶּ֑ךָ thy people: ʿam פָּ֝קְדֵ֗נִי O visit pāqad בִּישׁוּעָתֶֽךָ׃ me with thy salvation; yĕšûʿâ
  5. לִרְא֤וֹת׀ That I may see rāʾâ בְּט֘וֹבַ֤ת the good ṭôb בְּחִירֶ֗יךָ of thy chosen, bāḥîr לִ֭שְׂמֹחַ that I may rejoice śāmaḥ בְּשִׂמְחַ֣ת in the gladness śimḥâ גּוֹיֶ֑ךָ of thy nation, gôy לְ֝הִתְהַלֵּ֗ל that I may glory hālal עִם with ʿim נַחֲלָתֶֽךָ׃ thine inheritance. naḥălâ
  6. חָטָ֥אנוּ We have sinned ḥāṭāʾ עִם with ʿim אֲבוֹתֵ֗ינוּ our fathers, ʾāb הֶעֱוִ֥ינוּ we have committed iniquity, ʿāwâ הִרְשָֽׁעְנוּ׃ we have done wickedly. rāšaʿ
  7. אֲב֘וֹתֵ֤ינוּ Our fathers ʾāb בְמִצְרַ֨יִם׀ in Egypt; miṣrayim לֹא not lōʾ הִשְׂכִּ֬ילוּ understood śākal נִפְלְאוֹתֶ֗יךָ thy wonders pālāʾ לֹ֣א not lōʾ זָ֭כְרוּ they remembered zākar אֶת ʾēt רֹ֣ב the multitude rōb חֲסָדֶ֑יךָ of thy mercies; ḥēsēd וַיַּמְר֖וּ but provoked mārâ עַל at ʿal יָ֣ם the sea, yām בְּיַם sea. yām סֽוּף׃ at the Red sûp
  8. וַֽ֭יּוֹשִׁיעֵם Nevertheless he saved yāšaʿ לְמַ֣עַן sake, maʿan שְׁמ֑וֹ them for his name's šēm לְ֝הוֹדִ֗יעַ to be known. yādaʿ אֶת that he might make ʾēt גְּבוּרָתֽוֹ׃ his mighty power gĕbûrâ
  9. וַיִּגְעַ֣ר He rebuked gāʿar בְּיַם sea yām ס֭וּף the Red sûp וַֽיֶּחֱרָ֑ב also, and it was dried up: ḥārab וַיּוֹלִיכֵ֥ם so he led hālak בַּ֝תְּהֹמ֗וֹת them through the depths, tĕhôm כַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ as through the wilderness. midbār
  10. וַֽ֭יּוֹשִׁיעֵם And he saved yāšaʿ מִיַּ֣ד them from the hand yād שׂוֹנֵ֑א of him that hated śānēʾ וַ֝יִּגְאָלֵ֗ם and redeemed gāʾal מִיַּ֥ד them from the hand yād אוֹיֵֽב׃ of the enemy. ʾōyēb
  11. וַיְכַסּוּ covered kāsâ מַ֥יִם And the waters mayim צָרֵיהֶ֑ם their enemies: ṣar אֶחָ֥ד one ʾeḥād מֵ֝הֶ֗ם hēm לֹ֣א there was not lōʾ נוֹתָֽר׃ of them left. yātar
  12. וַיַּאֲמִ֥ינוּ Then believed ʾāman בִדְבָרָ֑יו they his words; dābār יָ֝שִׁ֗ירוּ they sang šîr תְּהִלָּתֽוֹ׃ his praise. tĕhillâ
  13. מִֽ֭הֲרוּ They soon māhar שָׁכְח֣וּ forgat šākaḥ מַעֲשָׂ֑יו his works; maʿăśe לֹֽא not lōʾ חִ֝כּ֗וּ they waited ḥākâ לַעֲצָתֽוֹ׃ for his counsel: ʿēṣâ
  14. וַיִּתְאַוּ֣וּ But lusted ʾāwâ תַ֭אֲוָה exceedingly taʾăwâ בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר in the wilderness, midbār וַיְנַסּוּ and tempted nāsâ אֵ֝֗ל God ʾēl בִּֽישִׁימֽוֹן׃ in the desert. yĕšîmôn
  15. וַיִּתֵּ֣ן And he gave nātan לָ֭הֶם hēm שֶׁאֱלָתָ֑ם them their request; šĕʾēlâ וַיְשַׁלַּ֖ח but sent šālaḥ רָז֣וֹן leanness rāzôn בְּנַפְשָֽׁם׃ into their soul. nepeš
  16. וַיְקַנְא֣וּ They envied qānāʾ לְ֭מֹשֶׁה Moses mōše בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה also in the camp, maḥăne לְ֝אַהֲרֹ֗ן Aaron ʾahărôn קְד֣וֹשׁ the saint qādôš יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  17. תִּפְתַּח opened pātaḥ אֶ֭רֶץ The earth ʾereṣ וַתִּבְלַ֣ע and swallowed up bālaʿ דָּתָ֑ן Dathan, dātān וַ֝תְּכַ֗ס and covered kāsâ עַל ʿal עֲדַ֥ת the company ʿēdâ אֲבִירָֽם׃ of Abiram. ʾăbîrām
  18. וַתִּבְעַר was kindled bāʿar אֵ֥שׁ And a fire ʾēš בַּעֲדָתָ֑ם in their company; ʿēdâ לֶ֝הָבָ֗ה the flame lehābâ תְּלַהֵ֥ט burned up lāhaṭ רְשָׁעִֽים׃ the wicked. rāšāʿ
  19. יַעֲשׂוּ They made ʿāśâ עֵ֥גֶל a calf ʿēgel בְּחֹרֵ֑ב in Horeb, ḥōrēb וַ֝יִּשְׁתַּחֲו֗וּ and worshipped šāḥâ לְמַסֵּכָֽה׃ the molten image. massēkâ
  20. וַיָּמִ֥ירוּ Thus they changed mûr אֶת ʾēt כְּבוֹדָ֑ם their glory kābôd בְּתַבְנִ֥ית into the similitude tabnît שׁ֝֗וֹר of an ox šôr אֹכֵ֥ל that eateth ʾākal עֵֽשֶׂב׃ grass. ʿeśeb
  21. שָׁ֭כְחוּ They forgat šākaḥ אֵ֣ל God ʾēl מוֹשִׁיעָ֑ם their saviour, yāšaʿ עֹשֶׂ֖ה which had done ʿāśâ גְדֹל֣וֹת great things gādôl בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃ in Egypt; miṣrayim
  22. נִ֭פְלָאוֹת Wondrous works pālāʾ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ חָ֑ם of Ham, ḥām נ֝וֹרָא֗וֹת terrible things yārēʾ עַל by ʿal יַם sea. yām סֽוּף׃ the Red sûp
  23. וַיֹּ֗אמֶר Therefore he said ʾāmar לְֽהַשְׁמִ֫ידָ֥ם that he would destroy šāmad לוּלֵ֡י them, had not lûlēʾ מֹ֘שֶׁ֤ה Moses mōše בְחִיר֗וֹ his chosen bāḥîr עָמַ֣ד stood ʿāmad בַּפֶּ֣רֶץ him in the breach, pereṣ לְפָנָ֑יו before pānîm לְהָשִׁ֥יב to turn away šûb חֲ֝מָת֗וֹ his wrath, ḥēmâ מֵֽהַשְׁחִֽית׃ lest he should destroy šāḥat
  24. וַֽ֭יִּמְאֲסוּ Yea, they despised māʾas בְּאֶ֣רֶץ land, ʾereṣ חֶמְדָּ֑ה the pleasant ḥemdâ לֹֽא not lōʾ הֶ֝אֱמִ֗ינוּ they believed ʾāman לִדְבָרֽוֹ׃ his word: dābār
  25. וַיֵּרָגְנ֥וּ But murmured rāgan בְאָהֳלֵיהֶ֑ם in their tents, ʾōhel לֹ֥א not lōʾ שָׁ֝מְע֗וּ hearkened šāmaʿ בְּק֣וֹל unto the voice qôl יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  26. וַיִּשָּׂ֣א Therefore he lifted up nāśāʾ יָד֣וֹ his hand yād לָהֶ֑ם hēm לְהַפִּ֥יל against them, to overthrow nāpal א֝וֹתָ֗ם ʾēt בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ them in the wilderness: midbār
  27. וּלְהַפִּ֣יל To overthrow nāpal זַ֭רְעָם their seed zeraʿ בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם also among the nations, gôy וּ֝לְזָרוֹתָ֗ם and to scatter zārâ בָּאֲרָצֽוֹת׃ them in the lands. ʾereṣ
  28. וַ֭יִּצָּ֣מְדוּ They joined themselves ṣāmad לְבַ֣עַל פְּע֑וֹר also unto Baal-peor, baʿal pĕʿôr וַ֝יֹּאכְל֗וּ and ate ʾākal זִבְחֵ֥י the sacrifices zebaḥ מֵתִֽים׃ of the dead. mût
  29. וַ֭יַּכְעִיסוּ Thus they provoked to anger kaʿas בְּמַֽעַלְלֵיהֶ֑ם with their inventions: maʿălāl וַתִּפְרָץ brake in upon them. pāraṣ בָּ֝֗ם מַגֵּפָֽה׃ and the plague maggēpâ
  30. וַיַּעֲמֹ֣ד Then stood up ʿāmad פִּֽ֭ינְחָס Phinehas, pînĕḥās וַיְפַלֵּ֑ל and executed judgment: pālal וַ֝תֵּעָצַ֗ר was stayed. ʿāṣār הַמַּגֵּפָֽה׃ and the plague maggēpâ
  31. וַתֵּחָ֣שֶׁב And that was counted ḥāšab ל֭וֹ לִצְדָקָ֑ה unto him for righteousness ṣĕdāqâ לְדֹ֥ר unto all dôr וָ֝דֹ֗ר generations dôr עַד for ʿad עוֹלָֽם׃ evermore. ʿôlām
  32. וַ֭יַּקְצִיפוּ They angered qāṣap עַל also at ʿal מֵ֥י the waters mayim מְרִיבָ֑ה of strife, mĕrîbâ וַיֵּ֥רַע so that it went ill yāraʿ לְ֝מֹשֶׁ֗ה with Moses for their sakes: mōše בַּעֲבוּרָֽם׃ ʿābûr
  33. כִּֽי Because הִמְר֥וּ they provoked mārâ אֶת ʾēt רוּח֑וֹ his spirit, rûaḥ וַ֝יְבַטֵּ֗א so that he spake unadvisedly bāṭāʾ בִּשְׂפָתָֽיו׃ with his lips. śāpâ
  34. לֹֽא They did not lōʾ הִ֭שְׁמִידוּ destroy šāmad אֶת ʾēt הָֽעַמִּ֑ים the nations, ʿam אֲשֶׁ֤ר concerning whom ʾăšer אָמַ֖ר commanded them: ʾāmar יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ לָהֶֽם׃ hēm
  35. וַיִּתְעָרְב֥וּ But were mingled ʿārab בַגּוֹיִ֑ם among the heathen, gôy וַֽ֝יִּלְמְד֗וּ and learned lāmad מַֽעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃ their works. maʿăśe
  36. וַיַּעַבְד֥וּ And they served ʿābad אֶת ʾēt עֲצַבֵּיהֶ֑ם their idols: ʿāṣāb וַיִּהְי֖וּ which were hāyâ לָהֶ֣ם hēm לְמוֹקֵֽשׁ׃ a snare unto them. môqēš
  37. וַיִּזְבְּח֣וּ Yea, they sacrificed zābaḥ אֶת ʾēt בְּ֭נֵיהֶם their sons bēn וְאֶת ʾēt בְּנֽוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם and their daughters bat לַשֵּֽׁדִים׃ unto devils, šēd
  38. וַיִּֽשְׁפְּכ֨וּ And shed šāpak דָ֪ם blood, dām נָקִ֡י innocent nāqî דַּם the blood dām בְּנֵ֘יהֶ֤ם of their sons bēn וּֽבְנוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם and of their daughters, bat אֲשֶׁ֣ר whom ʾăšer זִ֭בְּחוּ they sacrificed zābaḥ לַעֲצַבֵּ֣י unto the idols ʿāṣāb כְנָ֑עַן of Canaan: kĕnaʿan וַתֶּחֱנַ֥ף was polluted ḥānēp הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ and the land ʾereṣ בַּדָּמִֽים׃ with blood. dām
  39. וַיִּטְמְא֥וּ Thus were they defiled ṭāmēʾ בְמַעֲשֵׂיהֶ֑ם with their own works, maʿăśe וַ֝יִּזְ֗נוּ and went a whoring zānâ בְּמַֽעַלְלֵיהֶֽם׃ with their own inventions. maʿălāl
  40. וַיִּֽחַר kindled ḥārâ אַ֣ף Therefore was the wrath ʾap יְהוָ֣ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּעַמּ֑וֹ against his people, ʿam וַ֝יְתָעֵ֗ב insomuch that he abhorred taʿāb אֶת ʾēt נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃ his own inheritance. naḥălâ
  41. וַיִּתְּנֵ֥ם And he gave nātan בְּיַד them into the hand yād גּוֹיִ֑ם of the heathen; gôy וַֽיִּמְשְׁל֥וּ them ruled over them. māšal בָ֝הֶ֗ם שֹׂנְאֵיהֶֽם׃ and they that hated śānēʾ
  42. וַיִּלְחָצ֥וּם also oppressed lāḥaṣ אוֹיְבֵיהֶ֑ם Their enemies ʾōyēb וַ֝יִּכָּנְע֗וּ them, and they were brought into subjection kānaʿ תַּ֣חַת under taḥat יָדָֽם׃ their hand. yād
  43. פְּעָמִ֥ים times paʿam רַבּ֗וֹת Many rab יַצִּ֫ילֵ֥ם did he deliver nāṣal וְ֭הֵמָּה them; but they hēm יַמְר֣וּ provoked mārâ בַעֲצָתָ֑ם with their counsel, ʿēṣâ וַ֝יָּמֹ֗כּוּ and were brought low mākak בַּעֲוֺנָֽם׃ for their iniquity. ʿāwōn
  44. וַ֭יַּרְא Nevertheless he regarded rāʾâ בַּצַּ֣ר their affliction, ṣar לָהֶ֑ם hēm בְּ֝שָׁמְע֗וֹ when he heard šāmaʿ אֶת ʾēt רִנָּתָֽם׃ their cry: rinnâ
  45. וַיִּזְכֹּ֣ר And he remembered zākar לָהֶ֣ם hēm בְּרִית֑וֹ for them his covenant, bĕrît וַ֝יִּנָּחֵ֗ם and repented nāḥam כְּרֹ֣ב according to the multitude rōb חֲסָדָֽו׃ of his mercies. ḥēsēd
  46. וַיִּתֵּ֣ן He made nātan אוֹתָ֣ם ʾēt לְרַחֲמִ֑ים them also to be pitied raḥam לִ֝פְנֵ֗י of pānîm כָּל all kōl שׁוֹבֵיהֶֽם׃ those that carried them captives. šābâ
  47. הוֹשִׁיעֵ֨נוּ׀ Save yāšaʿ יְה֘וָ֤ה us, O Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ our God, ʾĕlōhîm וְקַבְּצֵנוּ֮ and gather qābaṣ מִֽן us from among min הַגּ֫וֹיִ֥ם the heathen, gôy לְ֭הֹדוֹת to give thanks yādâ לְשֵׁ֣ם name, šēm קָדְשֶׁ֑ךָ unto thy holy qōdeš לְ֝הִשְׁתַּבֵּ֗חַ to triumph šābaḥ בִּתְהִלָּתֶֽךָ׃ in thy praise. tĕhillâ
  48. בָּ֤רֽוּךְ Blessed bārak יְהוָ֨ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֪י God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl מִן from min הָ֤עוֹלָ֨ם׀ everlasting ʿôlām וְעַ֬ד to ʿad הָעוֹלָ֗ם everlasting: ʿôlām וְאָמַ֖ר say, ʾāmar כָּל and let all kōl הָעָ֥ם the people ʿam אָמֵ֗ן Amen. ʾāmēn הַֽלְלוּ Praise hālal יָֽהּ׃ ye the Lord. yāh
