1 எரிகோவின் அருகே யோர்தானைச் சேர்ந்த மோவாபின் சமனான வெளிகளிலே கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

2 இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்கள் காணியாட்சியாகிய சுதந்தரத்திலே லேவியருக்குக் குடியிருக்கும்படி பட்டணங்களைக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடு; அந்தப் பட்டணங்களைச் சூழ்ந்திருக்கிற வெளிநிலங்களையும் லேவியருக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும். Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.

3 அந்தப் பட்டணங்கள் அவர்கள் குடியிருப்பதற்கும், அவைகளைச் சூழ்ந்த வெளிநிலங்கள் அவர்களுடைய ஆடுமாடுகளுக்கும், அவர்களுடைய ஆஸ்திகளுக்கும், அவர்களுடைய சகல மிருக ஜீவன்களுக்கும் குறிக்கப்படவேண்டும். And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

4 நீங்கள் லேவியருக்குக் கொடுக்கும் பட்டணங்களைச் சூழ்ந்த வெளிநிலங்கள் பட்டணத்தின் மதில்தொடங்கி, வெளியிலே சுற்றிலும் ஆயிரமுழ தூரத்துக்கு எட்டவேண்டும். And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.

5 பட்டணம் மத்தியில் இருக்க, பட்டணத்தின் வெளிப்புறந்தொடங்கி, கிழக்கே இரண்டாயிரமுழமும், தெற்கே இரண்டாயிரமுழமும், மேற்கே இரண்டாயிரமுழமும், வடக்கே இரண்டாயிரமுழமும் அளந்துவிடக்கடவீர்கள்; இது அவர்கள் பட்டணங்களுக்கு வெளிநிலங்களாயிருப்பதாக. And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.

6 நீங்கள் லேவியருக்குக் கொடுக்கும் பட்டணங்களில் அடைக்கலத்துக்காக ஆறு பட்டணங்கள் இருக்கவேண்டும்; கொலைசெய்தவன் அங்கே தப்பி ஓடிப்போகிறதற்கு அவைகளைக் குறிக்கக்கடவீர்கள்; அவைகளையல்லாமல், நாற்பத்திரண்டு பட்டணங்களை அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும். And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

8 நீங்கள் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் சுதந்தரத்திலிருந்து அந்தப் பட்டணங்களைப்பிரித்துக் கொடுக்கும்போது, அதிகமுள்ளவர்களிடத்திலிருந்து அதிகமும், கொஞ்சமுள்ளவர்களிடத்திலிருந்து கொஞ்சமும் பிரித்துக்கொடுக்கவேண்டும்; அவரவர் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொண்ட சுதந்தரத்தின்படியே தங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் லேவியருக்குக் கொடுக்கக்கடவர்கள் என்றார். And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.

9 பின்னும் கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

10 நீ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரோடே சொல்லவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, கானான்தேசத்தில் பிரவேசிக்கும்போது, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

11 கைப்பிசகாய் ஒருவனைக் கொன்று போட்டவன் ஓடிப்போயிருக்கத்தக்க அடைக்கலப்பட்டணங்களாகச் சில பட்டணங்களைக் குறிக்கக்கடவீர்கள். Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

12 கொலைசெய்தவன் நியாயசபையிலே நியாயம் விசாரிக்கப்படுமுன் சாகாமல், பழிவாங்குகிறவன் கைக்குத் தப்பிப்போயிருக்கும்படி, அவைகள் உங்களுக்கு அடைக்கலப்பட்டணங்களாய் இருக்கக்கடவது. And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.

13 நீங்கள் கொடுக்கும் பட்டணங்களில் ஆறு பட்டணங்கள் அடைக்கலத்துக்காக இருக்கவேண்டும். And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.

14 யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் மூன்று பட்டணங்களையும், கானான்தேசத்தில் மூன்று பட்டணங்களையும் கொடுக்கவேண்டும், அவைகள் அடைக்கலப்பட்டணங்களாம். Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.

15 கைப்பிசகாய் ஒருவனைக் கொன்றவன் எவனோ, அவன் அங்கே ஓடிப்போயிருக்கும்படிக்கு, அந்த ஆறு பட்டணங்களும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கும் உங்கள் நடுவே இருக்கும் பரதேசிக்கும் அந்நியனுக்கும் அடைக்கலப்பட்டணங்களாய் இருக்கவேண்டும். These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.

16 ஒருவன் இருப்பு ஆயுதத்தினால் ஒருவனை வெட்டினதினால் அவன் செத்துப்போனால், வெட்டினவன் கொலைபாதகனாயிருக்கிறான்; கொலைபாதகன் கொலைசெய்யப்படவேண்டும். And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

17 ஒருவன் ஒரு கல்லை எடுத்து, சாகத்தக்கதாக ஒருவன்மேல் எறிகிறதினாலே அவன் செத்துப்போனால், கல்லெறிந்தவன் கொலைபாதகனாயிருக்கிறான், அவன் கொலைசெய்யப்படவேண்டும். And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

18 ஒருவன் தன் கையில் ஒரு மர ஆயுதத்தை எடுத்து, சாகத்தக்கதாக ஒருவனை அடித்ததினால் அவன் செத்துப்போனால், அடித்தவன் கொலைபாதகனாயிருக்கிறான்; கொலைபாதகன் கொலைசெய்யப்படவேண்டும். Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

19 பழிவாங்கவேண்டியவனே கொலைபாதகனைக் கொல்லவேண்டும்; அவனைக் கண்டமாத்திரத்தில் அவனைக் கொன்றுபோடலாம். The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.

20 ஒருவன் பகையினால் ஒருவனை விழத்தள்ளினதினாலாயினும், பதுங்கியிருந்து அவன் சாகத்தக்கதாய் அவன்மேல் ஏதாகிலும் எறிந்ததினாலாயினும், But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;

21 அவனைப் பகைத்து, தன் கையினால் அடித்ததினாலாயினும், அவன் செத்துப்போனால், அடித்தவன் கொலைபாதகன்; அவன் கொலைசெய்யப்படவேண்டும் பழிவாங்குகிறவன் கொலைபாதகனைக் கண்டமாத்திரத்தில் கொன்றுபோடலாம். Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.

22 ஒருவன் பகையொன்றும் இல்லாமல் சடுதியில் ஒருவனைத் தள்ளி விழப்பண்ணினதினாலாயினும், பதுங்கியிராமல் யாதொரு ஆயுதத்தை அவன்மேல் பட எறிந்ததினாலாயினும், But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,

23 அவனுக்குப் பகைஞனாயிராமலும் அவனுக்குத் தீங்கு செய்ய நினையாமலுமிருக்கையில், ஒருவனைக் கொன்றுபோடத்தக்க ஒரு கல்லினால் அவனைக்காணாமல் எறிய, அது அவன்மேல் பட்டதினாலாயினும், அவன் செத்துப்போனால், Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:

24 அப்பொழுது கொலைசெய்தவனையும் பழிவாங்குகிறவனையும் சபையார் இந்த நியாயப்படி விசாரித்து, Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:

25 கொலைசெய்தவனைப் பழிவாங்குகிறவனுடைய கைக்குத் தப்புவித்து, அவன் ஓடிப்போயிருந்த அடைக்கலப்பட்டணத்துக்கு அவனைத் திரும்பப் போகும்படி செய்யக்கடவர்கள்; பரிசுத்த தைலத்தினால் அபிஷேகம் பெற்ற பிரதான ஆசாரியன் மரணமடையுமட்டும் அவன் அதிலே இருக்கக்கடவன். And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.

26 ஆனாலும் கொலைசெய்தவன் தான் ஓடிப்போயிருக்கிற அடைக்கலப்பட்டணத்தின் எல்லையை விட்டு வெளிப்பட்டிருக்கும்போது, But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;

27 பழிவாங்குகிறவன் கொலை செய்தவனை அடைக்கலப்பட்டணத்துக்கு வெளியே கண்டுபிடித்துக் கொன்றுபோட்டால், அவன்மேல் இரத்தப்பழி இல்லை. And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:

28 கொலைசெய்தவன் பிரதான ஆசாரியன் மரணமடையுமட்டும் அடைக்கலப் பட்டணத்திலிருக்கவேண்டும்; பிரதான ஆசாரியன் மரணமடைந்தபின்பு, தன் சுதந்தரமான காணியாட்சிக்குத் திரும்பிப்போகலாம். Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

29 இவைகள் உங்கள் வாசஸ்தலங்களிலெங்கும் உங்கள் தலைமுறைதோறும் உங்களுக்கு நியாயவிதிப் பிரமாணமாயிருக்கக்கடவது. So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

30 எவனாகிலும், ஒரு மனிதனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டால், அப்பொழுது சாட்சிகளுடைய வாக்குமூலத்தின்படியே அந்தக் கொலைபாதகனைக் கொலைசெய்யக்கடவர்கள்; ஒரே சாட்சியைக்கொண்டுமாத்திரம் ஒரு மனிதன் சாகும்படி தீர்ப்புச்செய்யலாகாது. Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.

31 சாகிறதற்கேற்ற குற்றஞ்சுமந்த கொலைபாதகனுடைய ஜீவனுக்காக நீங்கள் மீட்கும்பொருளை வாங்கக் கூடாது; அவன் தப்பாமல் கொலைசெய்யப்படவேண்டும். Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

32 தன் அடைக்கலப்பட்டணத்துக்கு ஓடிப்போனவன் ஆசாரியன் மரணமடையாததற்கு முன்னே தன் நாட்டிற்குத் திரும்பிவரும்படி நீங்கள் அவனுக்காக மீட்கும்பொருளை வாங்கக் கூடாது. And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

33 நீங்கள் இருக்கும் தேசத்தைப் பரிசுத்தக் குலைச்சலாக்காதிருங்கள்; இரத்தம் தேசத்தைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தும்; இரத்தம் சிந்தினவனுடைய இரத்தத்தினாலேயொழிய, வேறொன்றினாலும் தேசத்திலே சிந்துண்ட இரத்தத்திற்காகப் பாவநிவிர்த்தியில்லை. So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

1 Erikovin arukae yorthaanaich serntha movaapin samanaana velikalilae Karththar Mosesyai Nnokki: And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

2 Israel puththirar thangal kaanniyaatchiyaakiya suthantharaththilae laeviyarukkuk kutiyirukkumpati pattanangalaik kodukkavaenndum entu avarkalukkuk kattalaiyidu; anthap pattanangalaich soolnthirukkira velinilangalaiyum laeviyarukkuk kodukkavaenndum. Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.

3 Anthap pattanangal avarkal kutiyiruppatharkum, avaikalaich soolntha velinilangal avarkalutaiya aadumaadukalukkum, avarkalutaiya aasthikalukkum, avarkalutaiya sakala miruka jeevankalukkum kurikkappadavaenndum. And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

4 Neengal laeviyarukkuk kodukkum pattanangalaich soolntha velinilangal pattanaththin mathilthodangi, veliyilae suttilum aayiramula thooraththukku ettavaenndum. And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.

5 Pattanam maththiyil irukka, pattanaththin velippuranthodangi, kilakkae iranndaayiramulamum, therkae iranndaayiramulamum, maerkae iranndaayiramulamum, vadakkae iranndaayiramulamum alanthuvidakkadaveerkal; ithu avarkal pattanangalukku velinilangalaayiruppathaaka. 6 Neengal laeviyarukkuk kodukkum pattanangalil ataikkalaththukkaaka aaraு pattanangal irukkavaenndum; kolaiseythavan angae thappi otippokiratharku avaikalaik kurikkakkadaveerkal; avaikalaiyallaamal, naarpaththiranndu pattanangalai avarkalukkuk kodukkavaenndum. And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

7 Neengal laeviyarukkuk kodukkavaenntiya pattanangalellaam naarpaththettup pattanangalum avaikalaich soolntha velinilangalumae. So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.

8 Neengal Israel puththirarin suthantharaththilirunthu anthap pattanangalaippiriththuk kodukkumpothu, athikamullavarkalidaththilirunthu athikamum, konjamullavarkalidaththilirunthu konjamum piriththukkodukkavaenndum; avaravar suthanthariththukkonnda suthantharaththinpatiyae thangal pattanangalil laeviyarukkuk kodukkakkadavarkal entar. And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.

9 Pinnum Karththar Mosesyai Nnokki: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

10 Nee Israel puththirarotae sollavaenntiyathu ennavental: neengal yorthaanaik kadanthu, kaanaanthaesaththil piravaesikkumpothu, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

11 Kaippisakaay oruvanaik kontu pottavan otippoyirukkaththakka ataikkalappattanangalaakach sila pattanangalaik kurikkakkadaveerkal. Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

12 Kolaiseythavan niyaayaSabaiyilae niyaayam visaarikkappadumun saakaamal, palivaangukiravan kaikkuth thappippoyirukkumpati, avaikal ungalukku ataikkalappattanangalaay irukkakkadavathu. And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.

13 Neengal kodukkum pattanangalil aaraு pattanangal ataikkalaththukkaaka irukkavaenndum. And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.

14 Yorthaanukku ippuraththil moontu pattanangalaiyum, kaanaanthaesaththil moontu pattanangalaiyum kodukkavaenndum, avaikal ataikkalappattanangalaam. Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.

15 Kaippisakaay oruvanaik kontavan evano, avan angae otippoyirukkumpatikku, antha aaraு pattanangalum Israel puththirarukkum ungal naduvae irukkum parathaesikkum anniyanukkum ataikkalappattanangalaay irukkavaenndum. These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.

16 Oruvan iruppu aayuthaththinaal oruvanai vettinathinaal avan seththupponaal, vettinavan kolaipaathakanaayirukkiraan; kolaipaathakan kolaiseyyappadavaenndum. And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

17 Oruvan oru kallai eduththu, saakaththakkathaaka oruvanmael erikirathinaalae avan seththupponaal, kallerinthavan kolaipaathakanaayirukkiraan, avan kolaiseyyappadavaenndum. And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

18 Oruvan than kaiyil oru mara aayuthaththai eduththu, saakaththakkathaaka oruvanai atiththathinaal avan seththupponaal, atiththavan kolaipaathakanaayirukkiraan; kolaipaathakan kolaiseyyappadavaenndum. Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

19 Palivaangavaenntiyavanae kolaipaathakanaik kollavaenndum; avanaik kanndamaaththiraththil avanaik kontupodalaam. The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.

20 Oruvan pakaiyinaal oruvanai vilaththallinathinaalaayinum, pathungiyirunthu avan saakaththakkathaay avanmael aethaakilum erinthathinaalaayinum, But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;

21 Avanaip pakaiththu, than kaiyinaal atiththathinaalaayinum, avan seththupponaal, atiththavan kolaipaathakan; avan kolaiseyyappadavaenndum palivaangukiravan kolaipaathakanaik kanndamaaththiraththil kontupodalaam. Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.

22 Oruvan pakaiyontum illaamal saduthiyil oruvanaith thalli vilappannnninathinaalaayinum, pathungiyiraamal yaathoru aayuthaththai avanmael pada erinthathinaalaayinum, But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,

23 Avanukkup pakainjanaayiraamalum avanukkuth theengu seyya ninaiyaamalumirukkaiyil, oruvanaik kontupodaththakka oru kallinaal avanaikkaannaamal eriya, athu avanmael pattathinaalaayinum, avan seththupponaal, Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:

24 Appoluthu kolaiseythavanaiyum palivaangukiravanaiyum Sabaiyaar intha niyaayappati visaariththu, Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:

25 Kolaiseythavanaip palivaangukiravanutaiya kaikkuth thappuviththu, avan otippoyiruntha ataikkalappattanaththukku avanaith thirumpap pokumpati seyyakkadavarkal; Parisuththa thailaththinaal apishaekam petta pirathaana aasaariyan maranamataiyumattum avan athilae irukkakkadavan. And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.

26 Aanaalum kolaiseythavan thaan otippoyirukkira ataikkalappattanaththin ellaiyai vittu velippattirukkumpothu, But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;

27 Palivaangukiravan kolai seythavanai ataikkalappattanaththukku veliyae kanndupitiththuk kontupottal, avanmael iraththappali illai. And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:

28 Kolaiseythavan pirathaana aasaariyan maranamataiyumattum ataikkalap pattanaththilirukkavaenndum; pirathaana aasaariyan maranamatainthapinpu, than suthantharamaana kaanniyaatchikkuth thirumpippokalaam. Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

29 Ivaikal ungal vaasasthalangalilengum ungal thalaimuraithoraுm ungalukku niyaayavithip piramaanamaayirukkakkadavathu. So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

30 Evanaakilum, oru manithanaik kontupottal, appoluthu saatchikalutaiya vaakkumoolaththinpatiyae anthak kolaipaathakanaik kolaiseyyakkadavarkal; orae saatchiyaikkonndumaaththiram oru manithan saakumpati theerppuchcheyyalaakaathu. Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.

31 Saakiratharkaetta kuttanjumantha kolaipaathakanutaiya jeevanukkaaka neengal meetkumporulai vaangak koodaathu; avan thappaamal kolaiseyyappadavaenndum. Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.
