அப்படியே சகல ஜனங்களும் அவரவர் ஒவ்வொரு கொம்பை வெட்டி, அபிமெலேக்குக்குப் பின்சென்று அவைகளை அந்த அரணுக்கு அருகே போட்டு, அக்கினி கொளுத்தி அந்த அரணைச் சுட்டுப்போட்டார்கள்; அதினால் புருஷரும் ஸ்திரீகளும் ஏறக்குறைய ஆயிரம்பேராகிய சீகேம் துருக்கத்து மனுஷர் எல்லாரும் செத்தார்கள்.

எனவே அவர்களும் அபிமெலேக்கைப் போலவே கிளைகளை வெட்டினார்கள். அவர்கள் மரக்கிளைளைப் ஏல்பேரீத் கோவிலின் பாதுகாப்பான அறைக்கு வெளியே குவித்து அதற்கு நெருப் பூட்டி, உள்ளே பதுங்கியிருந்த ஆட்களை எரித்துப்போட்டனர். சுமார் 1,000 ஆண்களும், பெண்களும் சீகேம் கோபுரத்திற்கருகில் மரித்தனர்.
