  1. מַדּ֗וּעַ Why, maddûaʿ מִ֭שַּׁדַּי from the Almighty, šadday לֹא are not lōʾ נִצְפְּנ֣וּ hidden ṣāpan עִתִּ֑ים seeing times ʿēt וְ֝יֹדְעָ֗יו do they that know yādaʿ לֹא him not lōʾ חָ֥זוּ see ḥāzâ יָמָֽיו׃ his days? yôm
  2. גְּבֻל֥וֹת the landmarks; gĕbûlâ יַשִּׂ֑יגוּ remove nāśag עֵ֥דֶר flocks, ʿēder גָּ֝זְל֗וּ they violently take away gāzal וַיִּרְעֽוּ׃ and feed rāʿâ
  3. חֲמ֣וֹר the ass ḥămôr יְתוֹמִ֣ים of the fatherless, yātôm יִנְהָ֑גוּ They drive away nāhag יַ֝חְבְּל֗וּ they take ḥābal שׁ֣וֹר ox for a pledge. šôr אַלְמָנָֽה׃ the widow's ʾalmānâ
  4. יַטּ֣וּ They turn nāṭâ אֶבְיֹנִ֣ים the needy ʾebyôn מִדָּ֑רֶךְ out of the way: derek יַ֥חַד themselves together. yaḥad חֻ֝בְּא֗וּ hide ḥābāʾ עֲנִיֵּי the poor ʿānāw אָֽרֶץ׃ of the earth ʾereṣ
  5. הֵ֤ן Behold, hēn פְּרָאִ֨ים׀ wild asses pereʾ בַּֽמִּדְבָּ֗ר in the desert, midbār יָצְא֣וּ go they forth yāṣāʾ בְּ֭פָעֳלָם to their work; pōʿal מְשַׁחֲרֵ֣י rising betimes šāḥar לַטָּ֑רֶף for a prey: ṭerep עֲרָבָ֥ה the wilderness ʿărābâ ל֥וֹ לֶ֝֗חֶם food leḥem לַנְּעָרִֽים׃ for them for children. naʿar
  6. בַּ֭שָּׂדֶה in the field: śāde בְּלִיל֣וֹ his corn bĕlîl יִקְצ֑יֹרוּ They reap qāṣar וְכֶ֖רֶם the vintage kerem רָשָׁ֣ע of the wicked. rāšāʿ יְלַקֵּֽשׁוּ׃ and they gather lāqaš
  7. עָר֣וֹם They cause the naked ʿārôm יָ֭לִינוּ to lodge lûn מִבְּלִ֣י without bĕlî לְב֑וּשׁ clothing, lĕbûš וְאֵ֥ין that no ʾayin כְּ֝ס֗וּת covering kĕsût בַּקָּרָֽה׃ in the cold. qārâ
  8. מִזֶּ֣רֶם with the showers zerem הָרִ֣ים of the mountains, har יִרְטָ֑בוּ They are wet rāṭab וּֽמִבְּלִ֥י for want bĕlî מַ֝חְסֶ֗ה of a shelter. maḥăse חִבְּקוּ and embrace ḥābaq צֽוּר׃ the rock ṣûr
  9. יִ֭גְזְלוּ They pluck gāzal מִשֹּׁ֣ד from the breast, šad יָת֑וֹם the fatherless yātôm וְֽעַל of ʿal עָנִ֥י the poor. ʿānî יַחְבֹּֽלוּ׃ and take a pledge ḥābal
  10. עָר֣וֹם naked ʿārôm הִ֭לְּכוּ They cause to go hālak בְּלִ֣י without bĕlî לְב֑וּשׁ clothing, lĕbûš וּ֝רְעֵבִ֗ים the hungry; rāʿēb נָ֣שְׂאוּ and they take away nāśāʾ עֹֽמֶר׃ the sheaf ʿōmer
  11. בֵּין within bên שׁוּרֹתָ֥ם their walls, šûr יַצְהִ֑ירוּ make oil ṣāhar יְקָבִ֥ים winepresses, yeqeb דָּ֝רְכ֗וּ tread dārak וַיִּצְמָֽאוּ׃ and suffer thirst. ṣāmēʾ
  12. מֵ֘עִ֤יר from out of the city, ʿîr מְתִ֨ים׀ Men mat יִנְאָ֗קוּ groan nāʾaq וְנֶֽפֶשׁ and the soul nepeš חֲלָלִ֥ים of the wounded ḥālāl תְּשַׁוֵּ֑עַ crieth out: šāwaʿ וֶ֝אֱל֗וֹהַּ yet God ʾĕlôah לֹא not lōʾ יָשִׂ֥ים layeth śûm תִּפְלָֽה׃ folly tiplâ
  13. הֵ֤מָּה׀ They hēm הָיוּ֮ are hāyâ בְּֽמֹרְדֵ֫י of those that rebel mārad א֥וֹר against the light; ʾôr לֹֽא not lōʾ הִכִּ֥ירוּ they know nākar דְרָכָ֑יו the ways derek וְלֹ֥א thereof, nor lōʾ יָ֝שְׁב֗וּ abide yāšab בִּנְתִיבֹתָֽיו׃ in the paths thereof. nātîb
  14. לָא֡וֹר with the light ʾôr יָ֘ק֤וּם rising qûm רוֹצֵ֗חַ The murderer rāṣaḥ יִֽקְטָל killeth qāṭal עָנִ֥י the poor ʿānî וְאֶבְי֑וֹן and needy, ʾebyôn וּ֝בַלַּ֗יְלָה and in the night layil יְהִ֣י is hāyâ כַגַּנָּֽב׃ as a thief. gannāb
  15. וְעֵ֤ין The eye ʿayin נֹאֵ֨ף׀ also of the adulterer nāʾap שָׁ֤מְרָֽה waiteth šāmar נֶ֣שֶׁף for the twilight, nešep לֵ֭אמֹר saying, ʾāmar לֹא No lōʾ תְשׁוּרֵ֣נִי shall see šûr עָ֑יִן eye ʿayin וְסֵ֖תֶר me: and disguiseth sēter פָּנִ֣ים face. pānîm יָשִֽׂים׃ śûm
  16. חָתַ֥ר they dig through ḥātar בַּחֹ֗שֶׁךְ In the dark ḥōšek בָּ֫תִּ֥ים houses, bayit יוֹמָ֥ם for themselves in the daytime: yômām חִתְּמוּ they had marked ḥātam לָ֗מוֹ לֹא not lōʾ יָ֥דְעוּ they know yādaʿ אֽוֹר׃ the light. ʾôr
  17. כִּ֤י For יַחְדָּ֨ו׀ to them even as yaḥad בֹּ֣קֶר the morning bōqer לָ֣מוֹ צַלְמָ֑וֶת the shadow of death: ṣalmāwet כִּֽי if יַ֝כִּ֗יר know nākar בַּלְה֥וֹת the terrors ballāhâ צַלְמָֽוֶת׃ of the shadow of death. ṣalmāwet
  18. קַֽל swift qal ה֤וּא׀ He hûʾ עַל as ʿal פְּנֵי the waters; pānîm מַ֗יִם mayim תְּקֻלַּ֣ל is cursed qālal חֶלְקָתָ֣ם their portion ḥelqâ בָּאָ֑רֶץ in the earth: ʾereṣ לֹֽא not lōʾ יִ֝פְנֶה he beholdeth pānâ דֶּ֣רֶךְ the way derek כְּרָמִֽים׃ of the vineyards. kerem
  19. צִיָּ֤ה Drought ṣiyyâ גַם and gam חֹ֗ם heat ḥōm יִגְזְל֥וּ consume gāzal מֵֽימֵי waters: mayim שֶׁ֗לֶג the snow šeleg שְׁא֣וֹל the grave šĕʾôl חָטָֽאוּ׃ have sinned. ḥāṭāʾ
  20. יִשְׁכָּ֘חֵ֤הוּ shall forget šākaḥ רֶ֨חֶם׀ The womb reḥem מְתָ֘ק֤וֹ shall feed sweetly mātāq רִמָּ֗ה him; the worm rimmâ ע֥וֹד more ʿôd לֹֽא on him; he shall be no lōʾ יִזָּכֵ֑ר remembered; zākar וַתִּשָּׁבֵ֖ר shall be broken šābar כָּעֵ֣ץ as a tree. ʿēṣ עַוְלָֽה׃ and wickedness ʿewel
  21. רֹעֶ֣ה He evil entreateth rāʿâ עֲ֭קָרָה the barren ʿāqār לֹ֣א not: lōʾ תֵלֵ֑ד beareth yālad וְ֝אַלְמָנָ֗ה to the widow. ʾalmānâ לֹ֣א and doeth not lōʾ יְיֵטִֽיב׃ good yāṭab
  22. וּמָשַׁ֣ךְ He draweth māšak אַבִּירִ֣ים also the mighty ʾabbîr בְּכֹח֑וֹ with his power: kōaḥ יָ֝ק֗וּם he riseth up, qûm וְֽלֹא and no lōʾ יַאֲמִ֥ין is sure ʾāman בַּֽחַיִּֽין׃ of life. ḥay
  23. יִתֶּן it be given nātan ל֣וֹ לָ֭בֶטַח him in safety, beṭaḥ וְיִשָּׁעֵ֑ן whereon he resteth; šāʿan וְ֝עֵינֵ֗יהוּ yet his eyes ʿayin עַל upon ʿal דַּרְכֵיהֶֽם׃ their ways. derek
  24. ר֤וֹמּוּ They are exalted rāmam מְּעַ֨ט׀ for a little while, mĕʿaṭ וְֽאֵינֶ֗נּוּ but are gone ʾayin וְֽהֻמְּכ֗וּ and brought low; mākak כַּכֹּ֥ל as all kōl יִקָּפְצ֑וּן they are taken out of the way qāpaṣ וּכְרֹ֖אשׁ as the tops rōš שִׁבֹּ֣לֶת of the ears of corn. šibbōl יִמָּֽלוּ׃ and cut off nāmal
  25. וְאִם And if ʾim לֹ֣א not lōʾ אֵ֭פוֹ now, ʾēpô מִ֣י who יַכְזִיבֵ֑נִי will make me a liar, kāzab וְיָשֵׂ֥ם and make śûm לְ֝אַ֗ל nothing worth? ʾal מִלָּתִֽי׃ my speech millâ
