יִשְׁלָ֤יוּ prosper, šālâ אֹֽהָלִ֨ים׀ The tabernacles ʾōhel לְשֹׁ֥דְדִ֗ים of robbers šādad וּֽ֭בַטֻּחוֹת are secure; baṭṭuḥôt לְמַרְגִּ֣יזֵי and they that provoke rāgaz אֵ֑ל God ʾēl לַאֲשֶׁ֤ר into whose ʾăšer הֵבִ֖יא bringeth bôʾ אֱל֣וֹהַּ God ʾĕlôah בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ hand yād

וְֽאוּלָ֗ם But ʾûlām שְׁאַל ask šāʾal נָ֣א now nāʾ בְהֵמ֣וֹת the beasts, bĕhēmâ וְתֹרֶ֑ךָּ and they shall teach yārâ וְע֥וֹף thee; and the fowls ʿôp הַ֝שָּׁמַ֗יִם of the air, šāmayim וְיַגֶּד and they shall tell thee: nāgad לָֽךְ׃

א֤וֹ Or ʾô שִׂ֣יחַ speak śîaḥ לָאָ֣רֶץ to the earth, ʾereṣ וְתֹרֶ֑ךָּ and it shall teach yārâ וִֽיסַפְּר֥וּ shall declare unto thee. sāpar לְ֝ךָ֗ דְּגֵ֣י thee: and the fishes dāg הַיָּֽם׃ of the sea yām

בִּֽישִׁישִׁ֥ים With the ancient yāšîš חָכְמָ֑ה wisdom; ḥokmâ וְאֹ֖רֶךְ and in length ʾōrek יָמִ֣ים of days yôm תְּבוּנָֽה׃ understanding. tābûn

עִ֭מּוֹ With ʿim חָכְמָ֣ה him wisdom ḥokmâ וּגְבוּרָ֑ה and strength, gĕbûrâ ל֝֗וֹ עֵצָ֥ה he hath counsel ʿēṣâ וּתְבוּנָֽה׃ and understanding. tābûn

הֵ֤ן Behold, hēn יַעְצֹ֣ר he withholdeth ʿāṣār בַּמַּ֣יִם the waters, mayim וְיִבָ֑שׁוּ and they dry up: yābēš וִֽ֝ישַׁלְּחֵ֗ם also he sendeth them out, šālaḥ וְיַ֖הַפְכוּ and they overturn hāpak אָֽרֶץ׃ the earth. ʾereṣ

מוֹלִ֣יךְ He leadeth hālak יוֹעֲצִ֣ים counsellers yāʿaṣ שׁוֹלָ֑ל away spoiled, šôlāl וְֽשֹׁפְטִ֥ים and maketh the judges šāpaṭ יְהוֹלֵֽל׃ fools. hālal

מוּסַ֣ר the bond mûsār מְלָכִ֣ים of kings, melek פִּתֵּ֑חַ He looseth pātaḥ וַיֶּאְסֹ֥ר and girdeth ʾāsar אֵ֝ז֗וֹר with a girdle. ʾēzôr בְּמָתְנֵיהֶֽם׃ their loins mōten

מוֹלִ֣יךְ He leadeth hālak כֹּהֲנִ֣ים princes kōhēn שׁוֹלָ֑ל away spoiled, šôlāl וְאֵֽתָנִ֣ים the mighty. ʾêtān יְסַלֵּֽף׃ and overthroweth sālap

שׁוֹפֵ֣ךְ He poureth šāpak בּ֭וּז contempt bûz עַל upon ʿal נְדִיבִ֑ים princes, nādîb וּמְזִ֖יחַ the strength māzîaḥ אֲפִיקִ֣ים of the mighty. ʾāpîq רִפָּֽה׃ and weakeneth rāpâ

מַשְׂגִּ֣יא He increaseth śāgāʾ לַ֭גּוֹיִם the nations, gôy וַֽיְאַבְּדֵ֑ם and destroyeth ʾābad שֹׁטֵ֥חַ them: he enlargeth šāṭaḥ לַ֝גּוֹיִ֗ם the nations, gôy וַיַּנְחֵֽם׃ and straiteneth them nāḥâ

יְמַֽשְׁשׁוּ They grope māšaš חֹ֥שֶׁךְ in the dark ḥōšek וְלֹא without lōʾ א֑וֹר light, ʾôr וַ֝יַּתְעֵ֗ם and he maketh them to stagger tāʿâ כַּשִּׁכּֽוֹר׃ like drunken šikkôr
