அப்பொழுது மந்திரவாதிகள் பார்வோனை நோக்கி: இது தேவனுடைய விரல் என்றார்கள். ஆனாலும், கர்த்தர் சொல்லியிருந்தபடி பார்வோனுடைய இருதயம் கடினப்பட்டது; அவர்களுக்குச் செவிகொடாமற் போனான்.

தேவனின் வல்லமையால் இவ்வாறு நிகழ்ந்தது என்று மந்திரவாதிகள் பார்வோனுக்குக் கூறினார்கள். ஆனால் பார்வோன் தன் மனதைக் கடினமாக்கி அவர்கள் கூறியதைக் கேட்க மறுத்தான். கர்த்தர் கூறியபடியே இது நடந்தது.
