நான் யாக்கோபுடைய மேன்மையை வெறுத்து, அவனுடைய அரமனைகளைப் பகைக்கிறேன்; நான் நகரத்தையும் அதின் நிறைவையும் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்துவிடுவேன் என்று கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் தம்முடைய ஜீவனைக் கொண்டு ஆணையிட்டார் என்பதைச் சேனைகளின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

எனது கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் அவரது சொந்த நாமத்தைப் பயன்படுத்தி வாக்குறுதி கொடுத்தார். சர்வ வல்லமையுள்ள தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் இந்த வாக்குறுதியை அளித்தார். “நான், யாக்கோபு பெருமைக்கொள்கிற காரியங்களை வெறுக்கிறேன். நான் அவனது பலமுள்ள கோபுரங்களை வெறுக்கிறேன். எனவே நான் பகைவன் இந்த நகரத்தையும் அதிலுள்ள எல்லாப் பொருட்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொள்ள விடுவேன்.”
