ராஜா அப்சலோமைப் பார்த்து: அப்படி வேண்டாம், என் மகனே; நாங்கள் எல்லாரும் வருவோமாகில் உனக்கு வெகுசெலவுண்டாகும் என்றான்; அவனை வருந்திக்கேட்டாலும், அவன் போக மனதில்லாமல், அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்.

தாவீது அரசன் அப்சலோமிடம், “இல்லை மகனே, நாங்கள் எல்லோரும் வரமாட்டோம். உனக்கு அதிகம் தொல்லையாக இருக்கும்” என்றான். தாவீதை வரும்படி அப்சலோம் மிகவும் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டான். ஆனால் தாவீது வரவில்லை, ஆனாலும் தன் ஆசிகளை அவனுக்கு வழங்கினான்.
