וֶֽאֱלִישָׁ֡ע Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ דִּבֶּ֣ר Then spake dābar אֶל unto ʾēl הָֽאִשָּׁה֩ the woman, ʾiššâ אֲשֶׁר whose ʾăšer הֶֽחֱיָ֨ה he had restored to life, ḥāyâ אֶת ʾēt בְּנָ֜הּ son bēn לֵאמֹ֗ר saying, ʾāmar ק֤וּמִי Arise, qûm וּלְכִי֙ and go hālak אַ֣תְּי thou ʾattâ וּבֵיתֵ֔ךְ and thine household, bayit וְג֖וּרִי and sojourn gûr בַּֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר wheresoever ʾăšer תָּג֑וּרִי thou canst sojourn: gûr כִּֽי for kî קָרָ֤א hath called qārāʾ יְהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ לָֽרָעָ֔ב for a famine; rāʿāb וְגַם and it shall also gam בָּ֥א come bôʾ אֶל upon ʾēl הָאָ֖רֶץ the land ʾereṣ שֶׁ֥בַע seven šebaʿ שָׁנִֽים׃ years. šāne

וַתָּ֙קָם֙ arose, qûm הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה And the woman ʾiššâ וַתַּ֕עַשׂ and did ʿāśâ כִּדְבַ֖ר after the saying dābār אִ֣ישׁ of the man ʾîš הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים of God: ʾĕlōhîm וַתֵּ֤לֶךְ went hālak הִיא֙ and she hûʾ וּבֵיתָ֔הּ with her household, bayit וַתָּ֥גָר and sojourned gûr בְּאֶֽרֶץ in the land ʾereṣ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים of the Philistines pĕlištî שֶׁ֥בַע seven šebaʿ שָׁנִֽים׃ years. šāne

וַיְהִ֗י And it came to pass hāyâ מִקְצֵה֙ end, qāṣe שֶׁ֣בַע at the seven šebaʿ שָׁנִ֔ים years' šāne וַתָּ֥שָׁב returned šûb הָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה that the woman ʾiššâ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ out of the land ʾereṣ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים of the Philistines: pĕlištî וַתֵּצֵא֙ and she went forth yāṣāʾ לִצְעֹ֣ק to cry ṣāʿaq אֶל unto ʾēl הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king melek אֶל for ʾēl בֵּיתָ֖הּ her house bayit וְאֶל and for ʾēl שָׂדָֽהּ׃ her land. śāde

וְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְ And the king melek מְדַבֵּר֙ talked dābar אֶל with ʾēl גֵּ֣חֲזִ֔י Gehazi gêḥăzî נַ֥עַר the servant naʿar אִישׁ of the man ʾîš הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים of God, ʾĕlōhîm לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar סַפְּרָה Tell sāpar נָּ֣א me, I pray thee, nāʾ לִ֔י אֵ֥ת ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַגְּדֹל֖וֹת the great things gādôl אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer עָשָׂ֥ה hath done. ʿāśâ אֱלִישָֽׁע׃ Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ

וַ֠יְהִי And it came to pass, hāyâ ה֥וּא as he hûʾ מְסַפֵּ֣ר was telling sāpar לַמֶּלֶךְ֮ the king melek אֵ֣ת ʾēt אֲשֶׁר how ʾăšer הֶֽחֱיָ֣ה he had restored ḥāyâ אֶת to life, ʾēt הַמֵּת֒ a dead body mût וְהִנֵּ֨ה that, behold, hinnē הָֽאִשָּׁ֜ה the woman, ʾiššâ אֲשֶׁר whose ʾăšer הֶֽחֱיָ֤ה he had restored to life, ḥāyâ אֶת ʾēt בְּנָהּ֙ son bēn צֹעֶ֣קֶת cried ṣāʿaq אֶל to ʾēl הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king melek עַל for ʿal בֵּיתָ֖הּ her house bayit וְעַל and for ʿal שָׂדָ֑הּ her land. śāde וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said, ʾāmar גֵּֽחֲזִי֙ And Gehazi gêḥăzî אֲדֹנִ֣י My lord, ʾādôn הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ O king, melek זֹ֚את this zōt הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה the woman, ʾiššâ וְזֶה and this ze בְּנָ֖הּ her son, bēn אֲשֶׁר whom ʾăšer הֶֽחֱיָ֥ה restored to life. ḥāyâ אֱלִישָֽׁע׃ Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ

וַיִּשְׁאַ֥ל asked šāʾal הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ And when the king melek לָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה the woman, ʾiššâ וַתְּסַפֶּר she told sāpar ל֑וֹ וַיִּתֶּן appointed nātan לָ֣הּ הַמֶּלֶךְ֩ him. So the king melek סָרִ֨יס officer, sārîs אֶחָ֜ד unto her a certain ʾeḥād לֵאמֹ֗ר saying, ʾāmar הָשֵׁ֤יב Restore šûb אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer לָהּ֙ וְאֵת֙ ʾēt כָּל hers, and all kōl תְּבוּאֹ֣ת the fruits tĕbûʾâ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה of the field śāde מִיּ֛וֹם since the day yôm עָזְבָ֥ה that she left ʿāzab אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֖רֶץ the land, ʾereṣ וְעַד even until ʿad עָֽתָּה׃ now. ʿattâ

וַיָּבֹ֤א came bôʾ אֱלִישָׁע֙ And Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק to Damascus; dammeśeq וּבֶן הֲדַ֥ד and Ben-hadad ben hădad מֶֽלֶךְ the king melek אֲרָ֖ם of Syria ʾărām חֹלֶ֑ה was sick; ḥālâ וַיֻּגַּד and it was told nāgad ל֣וֹ לֵאמֹ֔ר him, saying, ʾāmar בָּ֛א is come bôʾ אִ֥ישׁ The man ʾîš הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים of God ʾĕlōhîm עַד ʿad הֵֽנָּה׃ hither. hēnnâ

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ And the king melek אֶל unto ʾēl חֲזָהאֵ֗ל Hazael, ḥăzāʾēl קַ֤ח Take lāqaḥ בְּיָֽדְךָ֙ in thine hand, yād מִנְחָ֔ה a present minḥâ וְלֵ֕ךְ and go, hālak לִקְרַ֖את meet qirʾâ אִ֣ישׁ the man ʾîš הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים of God, ʾĕlōhîm וְדָֽרַשְׁתָּ֙ and inquire dāraš אֶת by ʾēt יְהוָ֤ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ מֵֽאוֹתוֹ֙ ʾēt לֵאמֹ֔ר him, saying, ʾāmar הַאֶֽחְיֶ֖ה Shall I recover ḥāyâ מֵֽחֳלִ֥י of this disease? ḥŏlî זֶֽה׃ ze

וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ went hālak חֲזָאֵל֮ So Hazael ḥăzāʾēl לִקְרָאתוֹ֒ to meet qirʾâ וַיִּקַּ֨ח him, and took lāqaḥ מִנְחָ֤ה a present minḥâ בְיָדוֹ֙ with him, yād וְכָל even of every kōl ט֣וּב good thing ṭûb דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק of Damascus, dammeśeq מַשָּׂ֖א burden, maśśāʾ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים forty ʾarbāʿîm גָּמָ֑ל camels' gāmāl וַיָּבֹא֙ and came bôʾ וַיַּֽעֲמֹ֣ד and stood ʿāmad לְפָנָ֔יו before pānîm וַיֹּ֗אמֶר him, and said, ʾāmar בִּנְךָ֙ Thy son bēn בֶן הֲדַ֤ד Ben-hadad ben hădad מֶֽלֶךְ king melek אֲרָם֙ of Syria ʾărām שְׁלָחַ֤נִי hath sent šālaḥ אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ me to ʾēl לֵאמֹ֔ר thee, saying, ʾāmar הַאֶֽחְיֶ֖ה Shall I recover ḥāyâ מֵֽחֳלִ֥י of this disease? ḥŏlî זֶֽה׃ ze

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said ʾāmar אֵלָיו֙ unto ʾēl אֱלִישָׁ֔ע And Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ לֵ֥ךְ him, Go, hālak אֱמָר say ʾāmar ל֖אֹ lōʾ חָיֹ֣ה unto him, Thou mayest certainly ḥāyâ תִֽחְיֶ֑ה recover: ḥāyâ וְהִרְאַ֥נִי hath shewed rāʾâ יְהוָ֖ה howbeit the Lord yĕhōwâ כִּי me that kî מ֥וֹת he shall surely mût יָמֽוּת׃ die. mût

וַיַּֽעֲמֵ֥ד And he settled ʿāmad אֶת ʾēt פָּנָ֖יו his countenance pānîm וַיָּ֣שֶׂם stedfastly, śûm עַד until ʿad בֹּ֑שׁ he was ashamed: bûš וַיֵּ֖בְךְּ wept. bākâ אִ֥ישׁ and the man ʾîš הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃ of God ʾĕlōhîm

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar חֲזָאֵ֔ל And Hazael ḥăzāʾēl מַדּ֖וּעַ Why maddûaʿ אֲדֹנִ֣י my lord? ʾādôn בֹכֶ֑ה weepeth bākâ וַיֹּ֡אמֶר And he answered, ʾāmar כִּֽי Because kî יָדַ֡עְתִּי I know yādaʿ אֵ֣ת ʾēt אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer תַּֽעֲשֶׂה֩ thou wilt do ʿāśâ לִבְנֵ֨י unto the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל of Israel: yiśrāʾēl רָעָ֗ה the evil raʿ מִבְצְרֵיהֶ֞ם their strong holds mibṣār תְּשַׁלַּ֤ח wilt thou set šālaḥ בָּאֵשׁ֙ on fire, ʾēš וּבַחֻֽרֵיהֶם֙ and their young men bāḥûr בַּחֶ֣רֶב with the sword, ḥereb תַּֽהֲרֹ֔ג wilt thou slay hārag וְעֹֽלְלֵיהֶ֣ם their children, ʿôlēl תְּרַטֵּ֔שׁ and wilt dash rāṭaš וְהָרֹֽתֵיהֶ֖ם their women with child. hāre תְּבַקֵּֽעַ׃ and rip up bāqaʿ

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar חֲזָהאֵ֔ל And Hazael ḥăzāʾēl כִּ֣י But kî מָ֤ה what, mâ עַבְדְּךָ֙ thy servant ʿebed הַכֶּ֔לֶב a dog, keleb כִּ֣י that kî יַֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה he should do ʿāśâ הַדָּבָ֥ר thing? dābār הַגָּד֖וֹל great gādôl הַזֶּ֑ה this ze וַיֹּ֣אמֶר answered, ʾāmar אֱלִישָׁ֔ע And Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ הִרְאַ֧נִי hath shewed rāʾâ יְהוָ֛ה The Lord yĕhōwâ אֹֽתְךָ֖ ʾēt מֶ֥לֶךְ me that thou king melek עַל over ʿal אֲרָֽם׃ Syria. ʾărām

וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ׀ So he departed hālak מֵאֵ֣ת from ʾēt אֱלִישָׁ֗ע Elisha, ʾĕlîšāʿ וַיָּבֹא֙ and came bôʾ אֶל to ʾēl אֲדֹנָ֔יו his master; ʾādôn וַיֹּ֣אמֶר who said ʾāmar ל֔וֹ מָֽה to him, What mâ אָמַ֥ר said ʾāmar לְךָ֖ אֱלִישָׁ֑ע Elisha ʾĕlîšāʿ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר to thee? And he answered, ʾāmar אָ֥מַר He told ʾāmar לִ֖י חָיֹ֥ה me thou shouldest surely ḥāyâ תִֽחְיֶֽה׃ recover. ḥāyâ

וַיְהִ֣י And it came to pass hāyâ מִֽמָּחֳרָ֗ת on the morrow, moḥŏrāt וַיִּקַּ֤ח that he took lāqaḥ הַמַּכְבֵּר֙ a thick cloth, makbār וַיִּטְבֹּ֣ל and dipped ṭābal בַּמַּ֔יִם in water, mayim וַיִּפְרֹ֥שׂ and spread pāraś עַל on ʿal פָּנָ֖יו his face, pānîm וַיָּמֹ֑ת so that he died: mût וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ reigned mālak חֲזָהאֵ֖ל and Hazael ḥăzāʾēl תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ in his stead. taḥat

וּבִשְׁנַ֣ת year šāne חָמֵ֗שׁ And in the fifth ḥāmēš לְיוֹרָ֤ם of Joram yôrām בֶּן the son bēn אַחְאָב֙ of Ahab ʾaḥʾāb מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl וִיהֽוֹשָׁפָ֖ט Jehoshaphat yĕhôšāpāṭ מֶ֣לֶךְ then king melek יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ מָלַ֛ךְ began to reign. mālak יְהוֹרָ֥ם Jehoram yĕhôrām בֶּן the son bēn יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֖ט of Jehoshaphat yĕhôšāpāṭ מֶ֥לֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָֽה׃ of Judah yĕhûdâ

בֶּן old bēn שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים Thirty šĕlôšîm וּשְׁתַּ֛יִם and two šĕnayim שָׁנָ֖ה years šāne הָיָ֣ה was hāyâ בְמָלְכ֑וֹ he when he began to reign; mālak וּשְׁמֹנֶ֣ה eight šĕmōne שָׁנִ֔ה years šāne מָלַ֖ךְ and he reigned mālak בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ in Jerusalem. yĕrûšālaim

וַיֵּ֜לֶךְ And he walked hālak בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ׀ in the way derek מַלְכֵ֣י of the kings melek יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֤ר as ʾăšer עָשׂוּ֙ did ʿāśâ בֵּ֣ית the house bayit אַחְאָ֔ב of Ahab: ʾaḥʾāb כִּ֚י for kî בַּת the daughter bat אַחְאָ֔ב of Ahab ʾaḥʾāb הָ֥יְתָה was hāyâ לּ֖וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֑ה his wife: ʾiššâ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ and he did ʿāśâ הָרַ֖ע evil raʿ בְּעֵינֵ֥י in the sight ʿayin יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ

וְלֹֽא not lōʾ אָבָ֤ה would ʾābâ יְהוָה֙ Yet the Lord yĕhōwâ לְהַשְׁחִ֣ית destroy šāḥat אֶת ʾēt יְהוּדָ֔ה Judah yĕhûdâ לְמַ֖עַן sake, maʿan דָּוִ֣ד for David dāwid עַבְדּ֑וֹ his servant's ʿebed כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר as ʾăšer אָֽמַר he promised ʾāmar ל֗וֹ לָתֵ֨ת him to give nātan ל֥וֹ נִ֛יר a light, nîr לְבָנָ֖יו to his children. bēn כָּל kōl הַיָּמִֽים׃ him alway yôm

בְּיָמָיו֙ In his days yôm פָּשַׁ֣ע revolted pāšaʿ אֱד֔וֹם Edom ʾĕdōm מִתַּ֖חַת from under taḥat יַד the hand yād יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ וַיַּמְלִ֥כוּ and made mālak עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם over themselves. ʿal מֶֽלֶךְ׃ a king melek

וַיַּֽעֲבֹ֤ר went over ʿābar יוֹרָם֙ So Joram yôrām צָעִ֔ירָה to Zair, ṣāʿîr וְכָל and all kōl הָרֶ֖כֶב the chariots rekeb עִמּ֑וֹ with ʿim וַֽיְהִי hāyâ ה֞וּא him: and he hûʾ קָ֣ם rose qûm לַ֗יְלָה by night, layil וַיַּכֶּ֨ה and smote nākâ אֶת ʾēt אֱד֜וֹם the Edomites ʾĕdōm הַסֹּבֵ֤יב which compassed him about, sābab אֵלָיו֙ ʾēl וְאֵת֙ ʾēt שָׂרֵ֣י and the captains śar הָרֶ֔כֶב of the chariots: rekeb וַיָּ֥נָס fled nûs הָעָ֖ם and the people ʿam לְאֹֽהָלָֽיו׃ into their tents. ʾōhel

וַיִּפְשַׁ֣ע revolted pāšaʿ אֱד֗וֹם Yet Edom ʾĕdōm מִתַּ֙חַת֙ from under taḥat יַד the hand yād יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yĕhûdâ עַ֖ד unto ʿad הַיּ֣וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּ֑ה this ze אָ֛ז Then ʾāz תִּפְשַׁ֥ע revolted pāšaʿ לִבְנָ֖ה Libnah libnâ בָּעֵ֥ת time. ʿēt הַהִֽיא׃ at the same hûʾ

וְיֶ֛תֶר And the rest yeter דִּבְרֵ֥י of the acts dābār יוֹרָ֖ם of Joram, yôrām וְכָל and all kōl אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer עָשָׂ֑ה he did, ʿāśâ הֲלֹא not lōʾ הֵ֣ם they hēm כְּתוּבִ֗ים written kātab עַל in ʿal סֵ֛פֶר the book sēper דִּבְרֵ֥י of the chronicles dābār הַיָּמִ֖ים yôm לְמַלְכֵ֥י of the kings melek יְהוּדָֽה׃ of Judah? yĕhûdâ

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב slept šākab יוֹרָם֙ And Joram yôrām עִם with ʿim אֲבֹתָ֔יו his fathers, ʾāb וַיִּקָּבֵ֥ר and was buried qābar עִם with ʿim אֲבֹתָ֖יו his fathers ʾāb בְּעִ֣יר in the city ʿîr דָּוִ֑ד of David: dāwid וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ reigned mālak אֲחַזְיָ֥הוּ and Ahaziah ʾăḥazyâ בְנ֖וֹ his son bēn תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ in his stead. taḥat

בִּשְׁנַת֙ šāne שְׁתֵּים šĕnayim עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה In the twelfth ʿāśār שָׁנָ֔ה year šāne לְיוֹרָ֥ם of Joram yôrām בֶּן the son bēn אַחְאָ֖ב of Ahab ʾaḥʾāb מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl מָלַ֛ךְ begin to reign. mālak אֲחַזְיָ֥הוּ did Ahaziah ʾăḥazyâ בֶן the son bēn יְהוֹרָ֖ם of Jehoram yĕhôrām מֶ֥לֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָֽה׃ of Judah yĕhûdâ

וַיֵּ֜לֶךְ And he went hālak אֶת with ʾēt יוֹרָ֣ם Joram yôrām בֶּן the son bēn אַחְאָ֗ב of Ahab ʾaḥʾāb לַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה to the war milḥāmâ עִם against ʿim חֲזָאֵ֥ל Hazael ḥăzāʾēl מֶֽלֶךְ king melek אֲרָ֖ם of Syria ʾărām בְּרָמֹ֣ת in Ramoth-gilead; rāmōt gilʿād גִּלְעָ֑ד gilʿād וַיַּכּ֥וּ wounded nākâ אֲרַמִּ֖ים and the Syrians ʾărammî אֶת ʾēt יוֹרָֽם׃ Joram. yôrām

וַיָּשָׁב֩ went back šûb יוֹרָ֨ם Joram yôrām הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ And king melek לְהִתְרַפֵּ֣א to be healed rāpāʾ בְיִזְרְעֶ֗אל in Jezreel yizrĕʿēl מִן of min הַמַּכִּים֙ the wounds makkâ אֲשֶׁ֨ר which ʾăšer יַכֻּ֤הוּ had given nākâ אֲרַמִּים֙ the Syrians ʾărammî בָּֽרָמָ֔ה him at Ramah, rāmâ בְּהִלָּ֣חֲמ֔וֹ when he fought lāḥam אֶת against ʾēt חֲזָהאֵ֖ל Hazael ḥăzāʾēl מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek אֲרָ֑ם of Syria. ʾărām וַֽאֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ And Ahaziah ʾăḥazyâ בֶן the son bēn יְהוֹרָ֜ם of Jehoram yĕhôrām מֶ֣לֶךְ king melek יְהוּדָ֗ה of Judah yĕhûdâ יָרַ֡ד went down yārad לִרְא֞וֹת to see rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt יוֹרָ֧ם Joram yôrām בֶּן the son bēn אַחְאָ֛ב of Ahab ʾaḥʾāb בְּיִזְרְעֶ֖אל in Jezreel, yizrĕʿēl כִּֽי because kî חֹלֶ֥ה was sick. ḥālâ הֽוּא׃ he hûʾ
