1 யெகூவின் ஏழாம் வருஷத்தில் யோவாஸ் ராஜாவாகி, எருசலேமிலே நாற்பது வருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணினான்; பெயெர்செபா ஊராளாகிய அவனுடைய தாயின் பேர் சிபியாள். In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

2 ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தா யோவாசைப் போதகம்பண்ணின நாளெல்லாம் அவன் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான். And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

3 மேடைகளைமாத்திரம் அகற்றவில்லை; ஜனங்கள் இன்னும் மேடைகள்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டிவந்தார்கள். But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

4 யோவாஸ் ஆசாரியரை நோக்கி: பிரதிஷ்டையாக்கப்பட்ட பொருள்களாகிய கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்படுகிற எல்லாப் பணங்களையும், இலக்கத்திற்குட்படுகிறவர்களின் பணத்தையும், மீட்புக்காக மதிக்கப்படுகிற ஆட்களின் பணத்தையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவரும்படி, அவரவர் தம்தம் மனதிலே நியமித்திருக்கும் எல்லாப் பணத்தையும், And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

5 ஆசாரியர்கள் அவரவர் தங்களுக்கு அறிமுகமானவர்கள் கையில் வாங்கி கொண்டு, ஆலயத்தில் எங்கெங்கே பழுது காண்கிறதோ, அங்கேயெல்லாம் ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கவேண்டும் என்றான். Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.

6 ஆனாலும் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாசின் இருபத்துமூன்றாம் வருஷமட்டும் ஆசாரியர்கள் ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபாராதே போனபடியினால், But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.

7 ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவையும் மற்ற ஆசாரியர்களையும் அழைப்பித்து: நீங்கள் ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபாராதேபோனதென்ன? இனி நீங்கள் உங்களுக்கு அறிமுகமானவர்கள் கையிலே பணத்தை வாங்காமல், அதை ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுப்பார்க்கிறதற்காக விட்டுவிடுங்கள் என்றான். Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.

8 அப்பொழுது ஆசாரியர்கள் ஜனத்தின் கையிலே பணத்தை வாங்கிக்கொள்ளாமலும், ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபாராமலும் இருக்கிறதற்குச் சம்மதித்தார்கள். And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.

9 ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தா ஒரு பெட்டியை எடுத்து, அதின் மூடியிலே ஒரு துவாரமிட்டு, அதைப் பலிபீடத்தண்டையிலே கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் ஜனங்கள் உட்பிரவேசிக்கும் வலதுபக்கத்தில் வைத்தான்; வாசற்படியைக் காக்கிற ஆசாரியர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட பணத்தையெல்லாம் அதிலே போட்டார்கள். But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.

10 பெட்டியிலே மிகுந்த பணம் உண்டென்று அவர்கள் காணும்போது, ராஜாவின் சம்பிரதியும் பிரதான ஆசாரியனும் வந்து: கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே சேகரிக்கப்பட்ட பணத்தை எண்ணி முடிப்புக்கட்டி, And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.

11 எண்ணின பணத்தைக் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே விசாரிப்புக்காரர் கையிலே கொடுப்பார்கள்; அதை அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கிற தச்சருக்கும், சிற்பாசாரிகளுக்கும், And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,

12 கொற்றருக்கும், கல்தச்சருக்கும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கத் தேவையான மரங்களையும் வெட்டின கற்களையும் கொள்ளுகிறதற்கும், ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கிறதற்குச் செல்லும் எல்லாச் செலவுக்கும் கொடுப்பார்கள். And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

13 கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட பணத்தினாலே வெள்ளிக்கிண்ணங்களும், கீதவாத்தியங்களும், கலங்களும், எக்காளங்களும், பொற்பாத்திரங்களும், வெள்ளிப் பாத்திரங்களும் பண்ணப்படாமல், Howbeit there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the LORD:

14 கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பழுது பார்க்கும்படிக்கு வேலைசெய்கிறவர்களுக்கே அதைக் கொடுத்தார்கள். But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of the LORD.

15 வேலை செய்கிறவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும்படிக்கு, பணத்தை வரப்பற்றிக் கொண்ட மனுஷர் கையிலே கணக்குக் கேளாதிருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் உண்மையாய் அதை நடப்பித்தார்கள். Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.

16 குற்றப்பிராயச்சித்தப் பணமும் பாவப்பிராயச்சித்தப் பணமும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்காகக் கொண்டுவரப் படவில்லை; அது ஆசாரியரைச் சேர்ந்தது. The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of the LORD: it was the priests'.

17 அதற்குப்பின்பு சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேல் வந்து, காத்தூரின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணி அதைப் பிடித்தான்; அதின்பின்பு எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போக ஆசகேல் தன் முகத்தைத் திருப்பினான். Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

18 அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ், தன் பிதாக்களாகிய யோசபாத் யோராம் அகசியா என்னும் யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் பரிசுத்தம்பண்ணி வைத்த எல்லாவற்றையும், தான் பரிசுத்தம் பண்ணிவைத்ததையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலும் ராஜாவின் அரமனையிலுமுள்ள பொக்கிஷங்களில் அகப்பட்ட பொன் யாவையும் எடுத்து சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலுக்கு அனுப்பினான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எருசலேமை விட்டுத் திரும்பிப் போனான். And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

19 யோவாசின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும் யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது. And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

20 யோவாசின் ஊழியக்காரர் எழும்பி கட்டுப்பாடு பண்ணிக்கொண்டு, சில்லாவுக்குப் போகிற வழியிலிருக்கிற மில்லோ வீட்டிலே அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள். And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.

21 சிமியாதின் குமாரன், யோசகார் சோமேரின் குமாரன் யோசபாத் என்னும் அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் அவனைக் கொன்றார்கள்; இறந்துபோன அவனைத் தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் அவனுடைய பிதாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய அமத்சியா அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான். For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.

1 Yekoovin aelaam varushaththil yovaas raajaavaaki, erusalaemilae naarpathu varusham raajyapaarampannnninaan; peyersepaa ooraalaakiya avanutaiya thaayin paer sipiyaal. In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

2 Aasaariyanaakiya yoythaa yovaasaip pothakampannnnina naalellaam avan karththarin paarvaikkuch semmaiyaanathaich seythaan. And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

3 Maetaikalaimaaththiram akattavillai; janangal innum maetaikalmael paliyittuth thoopangaattivanthaarkal. But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

4 Yovaas aasaariyarai Nnokki: pirathishtaiyaakkappatta porulkalaakiya karththarutaiya aalayaththukkuk konnduvarappadukira ellaap panangalaiyum, ilakkaththirkutpadukiravarkalin panaththaiyum, meetpukkaaka mathikkappadukira aatkalin panaththaiyum, karththarutaiya aalayaththukkuk konnduvarumpati, avaravar thamtham manathilae niyamiththirukkum ellaap panaththaiyum, And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

5 Aasaariyarkal avaravar thangalukku arimukamaanavarkal kaiyil vaangi konndu, aalayaththil engaெngae paluthu kaannkiratho, angaeyellaam aalayaththaip paluthupaarkkavaenndum entan. Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.

6 Aanaalum raajaavaakiya yovaasin irupaththumoontam varushamattum aasaariyarkal aalayaththaip paluthupaaraathae ponapatiyinaal, But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.

7 Raajaavaakiya yovaas aasaariyanaakiya yoythaavaiyum matta aasaariyarkalaiyum alaippiththu: neengal aalayaththaip paluthupaaraathaeponathenna? Ini neengal ungalukku arimukamaanavarkal kaiyilae panaththai vaangaamal, athai aalayaththaip paluthuppaarkkiratharkaaka vittuvidungal entan. Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.

8 Appoluthu aasaariyarkal janaththin kaiyilae panaththai vaangikkollaamalum, aalayaththaip paluthupaaraamalum irukkiratharkuch sammathiththaarkal. And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.

9 Aasaariyanaakiya yoythaa oru pettiyai eduththu, athin mootiyilae oru thuvaaramittu, athaip palipeedaththanntaiyilae karththarutaiya aalayaththil janangal utpiravaesikkum valathupakkaththil vaiththaan; vaasarpatiyaik kaakkira aasaariyarkal karththarutaiya aalayaththirkuk konnduvarappatta panaththaiyellaam athilae pottarkal. But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.

10 Pettiyilae mikuntha panam unndentu avarkal kaanumpothu, raajaavin sampirathiyum pirathaana aasaariyanum vanthu: karththarutaiya aalayaththilae sekarikkappatta panaththai ennnni mutippukkatti, And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.

11 Ennnnina panaththaik karththarutaiya aalayaththilae visaarippukkaarar kaiyilae koduppaarkal; athai avarkal karththarutaiya aalayaththaip paluthupaarkkira thachcharukkum, sirpaasaarikalukkum, And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,

12 Kottarukkum, kalthachcharukkum, karththarutaiya aalayaththaip paluthupaarkkath thaevaiyaana marangalaiyum vettina karkalaiyum kollukiratharkum, aalayaththaip paluthupaarkkiratharkuch sellum ellaach selavukkum koduppaarkal. And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

13 Karththarutaiya aalayaththukkuk konnduvarappatta panaththinaalae vellikkinnnangalum, geethavaaththiyangalum, kalangalum, ekkaalangalum, porpaaththirangalum, vellip paaththirangalum pannnappadaamal, Howbeit there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the LORD:

14 Karththarutaiya aalayaththaip paluthu paarkkumpatikku vaelaiseykiravarkalukkae athaik koduththaarkal. But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of the LORD.

15 Vaelai seykiravarkalukkuk kodukkumpatikku, panaththai varappattik konnda manushar kaiyilae kanakkuk kaelaathirunthaarkal; avarkal unnmaiyaay athai nadappiththaarkal. Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.

16 Kuttappiraayachchiththap panamum paavappiraayachchiththap panamum karththarutaiya aalayaththirkaakak konnduvarap padavillai; athu aasaariyaraich sernthathu. The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of the LORD: it was the priests'.

17 Atharkuppinpu seeriyaavin raajaavaakiya aasakael vanthu, kaaththoorinmael yuththampannnni athaip pitiththaan; athinpinpu erusalaemukku virothamaayp poka aasakael than mukaththaith thiruppinaan. Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

18 Appoluthu yoothaavin raajaavaakiya yovaas, than pithaakkalaakiya yosapaath yoraam akasiyaa ennum yoothaavin raajaakkal Parisuththampannnni vaiththa ellaavattaைyum, thaan Parisuththam pannnnivaiththathaiyum, karththarutaiya aalayaththilum raajaavin aramanaiyilumulla pokkishangalil akappatta pon yaavaiyum eduththu seeriyaavin raajaavaakiya aasakaelukku anuppinaan; appoluthu avan erusalaemai vittuth thirumpip ponaan. And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

19 Yovaasin matta varththamaanangalum, avan seythavai yaavum yoothaavutaiya raajaakkalin naalaakamap pusthakaththil allavo eluthiyirukkirathu. And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

20 Yovaasin ooliyakkaarar elumpi kattuppaadu pannnnikkonndu, sillaavukkup pokira valiyilirukkira millo veettilae avanaik kontupottarkal. And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.

21 Simiyaathin kumaaran, yosakaar somaerin kumaaran yosapaath ennum avanutaiya ooliyakkaarar avanaik kontarkal; iranthupona avanaith thaaveethin nakaraththil avanutaiya pithaakkalanntaiyilae adakkampannnninaarkal; avan kumaaranaakiya amathsiyaa avan sthaanaththil raajaavaanaan.
