நியாயாதிபதிகள் 9:29
இந்த ஜனங்கள் மாத்திரம் என் கைக்குள் இருக்கட்டும்; நான் அபிமெலேக்கைத் துரத்திவிடுவேன் என்றான். உன் சேனையைப் பெருகப்பண்ணிப் புறப்பட்டுவா என்று, அவன் அபிமெலேக்குக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினான்.

இந்த மக்கள்மட்டும் என்னுடைய கைக்குள் இருக்கட்டும்; நான் அபிமெலேக்கைத் துரத்திவிடுவேன் என்றான். உன் படையைப் பெருகச்செய்துப் புறப்பட்டுவா என்று, அவன் அபிமெலேக்குக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினான்.

நீங்கள் என்னை இந்த ஜனங்களுக்கு சேனைத் தலைவனாக ஆக்கினால் நான் அபிமெலேக்கை அழிப்பேன். நான் அவனிடம் ‘உன் சேனையைத் தயார் செய்து போருக்கு வா’ என்று கூறுவேன்” என்றான்.

இம்மக்களை யார் என் கையில் ஒப்படைப்பர்? அப்பொழுது நான் அபிமெலக்கை ஒழித்துவிடுவேன். நான் அபிமெலக்கிடம் ‘உன் படையைத் திரட்டிக் கொண்டு புறப்பட்டு வா’ என்று கூறுவேன்” என்றான்.⒫
