אַשְׁרֵ֥י Blessed ʾešer תְמִֽימֵי the undefiled tāmîm דָ֑רֶךְ in the way, derek הַֽ֝הֹלְכִ֗ים who walk hālak בְּתוֹרַ֥ת in the law tôrâ יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ

אַ֭שְׁרֵי Blessed ʾešer נֹצְרֵ֥י they that keep nāṣar עֵדֹתָ֗יו his testimonies, ʿēdâ בְּכָל him with the whole kōl לֵ֥ב heart. lēb יִדְרְשֽׁוּהוּ׃ seek dāraš

אַ֭ף They also ʾap לֹֽא no lōʾ פָעֲל֣וּ do pāʿal עַוְלָ֑ה iniquity: ʿewel בִּדְרָכָ֥יו in his ways. derek הָלָֽכוּ׃ they walk hālak

אַ֭תָּה Thou ʾattâ צִוִּ֥יתָה hast commanded ṣāwâ פִקֻּדֶ֗יךָ thy precepts piqqûd לִשְׁמֹ֥ר to keep šāmar מְאֹֽד׃ diligently. mĕʾōd

אַ֭חֲלַי O that ʾaḥălay יִכֹּ֥נוּ were directed kûn דְרָכָ֗י my ways derek לִשְׁמֹ֥ר to keep šāmar חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ thy statutes! ḥōq

אָ֥ז Then ʾāz לֹא shall I not lōʾ אֵב֑וֹשׁ be ashamed, bûš בְּ֝הַבִּיטִ֗י when I have respect nābaṭ אֶל unto ʾēl כָּל all kōl מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ thy commandments. miṣwâ

א֭וֹדְךָ I will praise yādâ בְּיֹ֣שֶׁר thee with uprightness yōšer לֵבָ֑ב of heart, lēbāb בְּ֝לָמְדִ֗י when I shall have learned lāmad מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י judgments. mišpāṭ צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ thy righteous ṣedeq

אֶת ʾēt חֻקֶּ֥יךָ thy statutes: ḥōq אֶשְׁמֹ֑ר I will keep šāmar אַֽל me not ʾal תַּעַזְבֵ֥נִי O forsake ʿāzab עַד ʿad מְאֹֽד׃ utterly. mĕʾōd

בַּמֶּ֣ה Wherewithal mâ יְזַכֶּה cleanse zākâ נַּ֭עַר shall a young man naʿar אֶת ʾēt אָרְח֑וֹ his way? ʾōraḥ לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר by taking heed šāmar כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ according to thy word. dābār

בְּכָל With my whole kōl לִבִּ֥י heart lēb דְרַשְׁתִּ֑יךָ have I sought dāraš אַל thee: O let me not ʾal תַּ֝שְׁגֵּ֗נִי wander šāgâ מִמִּצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ from thy commandments. miṣwâ

בְּ֭לִבִּי in mine heart, lēb צָפַ֣נְתִּי have I hid ṣāpan אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ Thy word ʾimrâ לְ֝מַ֗עַן that maʿan לֹ֣א I might not lōʾ אֶֽחֱטָא sin against thee. ḥāṭāʾ לָֽךְ׃

בָּר֖וּךְ Blessed bārak אַתָּ֥ה thou, ʾattâ יְהוָ֗ה O Lord: yĕhōwâ לַמְּדֵ֥נִי teach lāmad חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ me thy statutes. ḥōq

בִּשְׂפָתַ֥י With my lips śāpâ סִפַּ֑רְתִּי have I declared sāpar כֹּ֝֗ל all kōl מִשְׁפְּטֵי the judgments mišpāṭ פִֽיךָ׃ of thy mouth. pe

בְּדֶ֖רֶךְ in the way derek עֵדְוֺתֶ֥יךָ of thy testimonies, ʿēdût שַׂ֗שְׂתִּי I have rejoiced śûś כְּעַ֣ל as in ʿal כָּל all kōl הֽוֹן׃ riches. hôn

בְּפִקּוּדֶ֥יךָ in thy precepts, piqqûd אָשִׂ֑יחָה I will meditate śîaḥ וְ֝אַבִּ֗יטָה and have respect nābaṭ אֹרְחֹתֶֽיךָ׃ unto thy ways. ʾōraḥ

בְּחֻקֹּתֶ֥יךָ in thy statutes: ḥuqqâ אֶֽשְׁתַּעֲשָׁ֑ע I will delight myself šāʿaʿ לֹ֭א I will not lōʾ אֶשְׁכַּ֣ח forget šākaḥ דְּבָרֶֽךָ׃ thy word. dābār

גְּמֹ֖ל Deal bountifully gāmal עַֽל with ʿal עַבְדְּךָ֥ thy servant, ʿebed אֶֽחְיֶ֗ה I may live, ḥāyâ וְאֶשְׁמְרָ֥ה and keep šāmar דְבָרֶֽךָ׃ thy word. dābār

גַּל Open gālâ עֵינַ֥י thou mine eyes, ʿayin וְאַבִּ֑יטָה that I may behold nābaṭ נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת wondrous things pālāʾ מִתּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ out of thy law. tôrâ

גֵּ֣ר a stranger gēr אָנֹכִ֣י I ʾānōkî בָאָ֑רֶץ in the earth: ʾereṣ אַל not ʾal תַּסְתֵּ֥ר hide sātar מִ֝מֶּ֗נִּי from me. min מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ thy commandments miṣwâ

גָּרְסָ֣ה breaketh gāras נַפְשִׁ֣י My soul nepeš לְתַאֲבָ֑ה for the longing taʾăbâ אֶֽל unto ʾēl מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ thy judgments mišpāṭ בְכָל at all kōl עֵֽת׃ times. ʿēt

גָּ֭עַרְתָּ Thou hast rebuked gāʿar זֵדִ֣ים the proud zēd אֲרוּרִ֑ים cursed, ʾārar הַ֝שֹּׁגִים which do err šāgâ מִמִּצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ from thy commandments. miṣwâ

גַּ֣ל Remove gālal מֵֽ֭עָלַי from ʿal חֶרְפָּ֣ה me reproach ḥerpâ וָב֑וּז and contempt; bûz כִּ֖י for kî עֵדֹתֶ֣יךָ thy testimonies. ʿēdâ נָצָֽרְתִּי׃ I have kept nāṣar

גַּ֤ם also gam יָֽשְׁב֣וּ did sit yāšab שָׂ֭רִים Princes śar בִּ֣י נִדְבָּ֑רוּ speak dābar עַ֝בְדְּךָ֗ against me: thy servant ʿebed יָשִׂ֥יחַ did meditate śîaḥ בְּחֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ in thy statutes. ḥōq

גַּֽם also gam עֵ֭דֹתֶיךָ Thy testimonies ʿēdâ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָ֗י my delight šaʿšuaʿ אַנְשֵׁ֥י my counsellers. ʾĕnôš עֲצָתִֽי׃ ʿēṣâ

דָּֽבְקָ֣ה cleaveth dābaq לֶעָפָ֣ר unto the dust: ʿāpār נַפְשִׁ֑י My soul nepeš חַ֝יֵּ֗נִי quicken ḥāyâ כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ thou me according to thy word. dābār

דְּרָכַ֣י my ways, derek סִ֭פַּרְתִּי I have declared sāpar וַֽתַּעֲנֵ֗נִי and thou heardest ʿānâ לַמְּדֵ֥נִי me: teach lāmad חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ me thy statutes. ḥōq

דֶּֽרֶךְ the way derek פִּקּוּדֶ֥יךָ of thy precepts: piqqûd הֲבִינֵ֑נִי Make me to understand bîn וְ֝אָשִׂ֗יחָה so shall I talk śîaḥ בְּנִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ of thy wondrous works. pālāʾ

דָּלְפָ֣ה melteth dālap נַ֭פְשִׁי My soul nepeš מִתּוּגָ֑ה for heaviness: tûgâ קַ֝יְּמֵ֗נִי strengthen qûm כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ thou me according unto thy word. dābār

דֶּֽרֶךְ me the way derek שֶׁ֭קֶר of lying: šeqer הָסֵ֣ר Remove sûr מִמֶּ֑נִּי from min וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ and grant me thy law tôrâ חָנֵּֽנִי׃ graciously. ḥānan

דֶּֽרֶךְ the way derek אֱמוּנָ֥ה of truth: ʾĕmûnâ בָחָ֑רְתִּי I have chosen bāḥar מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ thy judgments mišpāṭ שִׁוִּֽיתִי׃ have I laid šāwâ

דָּבַ֥קְתִּי I have stuck dābaq בְעֵֽדְוֹתֶ֑יךָ unto thy testimonies: ʿēdût יְ֝הוָ֗ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ אַל put me not ʾal תְּבִישֵֽׁנִי׃ to shame. bûš

דֶּֽרֶךְ the way derek מִצְוֹתֶ֥יךָ of thy commandments, miṣwâ אָר֑וּץ I will run rûṣ כִּ֖י when kî תַרְחִ֣יב thou shalt enlarge rāḥab לִבִּֽי׃ my heart. lēb

הוֹרֵ֣נִי Teach yārâ יְ֭הוָה me, O Lord, yĕhōwâ דֶּ֥רֶךְ the way derek חֻקֶּ֗יךָ of thy statutes; ḥōq וְאֶצְּרֶ֥נָּה and I shall keep nāṣar עֵֽקֶב׃ it the end. ʿēqeb

הֲ֭בִינֵנִי Give me understanding, bîn וְאֶצְּרָ֥ה and I shall keep nāṣar תֽוֹרָתֶ֗ךָ thy law; tôrâ וְאֶשְׁמְרֶ֥נָּה yea, I shall observe šāmar בְכָל it with whole kōl לֵֽב׃ heart. lēb

הַ֭דְרִיכֵנִי Make me to go dārak בִּנְתִ֣יב in the path nātîb מִצְוֹתֶ֑יךָ of thy commandments; miṣwâ כִּי for kî ב֥וֹ חָפָֽצְתִּי׃ therein do I delight. ḥāpēṣ

הַט Incline nāṭâ לִ֭בִּי my heart lēb אֶל unto ʾēl עֵדְוֺתֶ֗יךָ thy testimonies, ʿēdût וְאַ֣ל and not ʾal אֶל to ʾēl בָּֽצַע׃ covetousness. beṣaʿ

הַעֲבֵ֣ר Turn away ʿābar עֵ֭ינַי mine eyes ʿayin מֵרְא֣וֹת from beholding rāʾâ שָׁ֑וְא vanity; šow בִּדְרָכֶ֥ךָ thou me in thy way. derek חַיֵּֽנִי׃ quicken ḥāyâ

הָקֵ֣ם Stablish qûm לְ֭עַבְדְּךָ unto thy servant, ʿebed אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ thy word ʾimrâ אֲ֝שֶׁ֗ר who ʾăšer לְיִרְאָתֶֽךָ׃ to thy fear. yirʾâ

הַעֲבֵ֣ר Turn away ʿābar חֶ֭רְפָּתִי my reproach ḥerpâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer יָגֹ֑רְתִּי I fear: yāgōr כִּ֖י for kî מִשְׁפָּטֶ֣יךָ thy judgments mišpāṭ טוֹבִֽים׃ good. ṭôb

הִ֭נֵּה Behold, hinnē תָּאַ֣בְתִּי I have longed tāʾab לְפִקֻּדֶ֑יךָ after thy precepts: piqqûd בְּצִדְקָתְךָ֥ me in thy righteousness. ṣĕdāqâ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ quicken ḥāyâ

וִֽיבֹאֻ֣נִי come bôʾ חֲסָדֶ֣ךָ Let thy mercies ḥēsēd יְהוָ֑ה also unto me, O Lord, yĕhōwâ תְּ֝שֽׁוּעָתְךָ֗ thy salvation, tĕšûʿâ כְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃ according to thy word. ʾimrâ

וְאֶֽעֱנֶ֣ה to answer ʿānâ חֹרְפִ֣י him that reproacheth ḥārap דָבָ֑ר So shall I have wherewith dābār כִּֽי me: for kî בָ֝טַחְתִּי I trust bāṭaḥ בִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ in thy word. dābār

וְֽאַל not ʾal תַּצֵּ֬ל And take nāṣal מִפִּ֣י out of my mouth; pe דְבַר the word dābār אֱמֶ֣ת of truth ʾemet עַד ʿad מְאֹ֑ד utterly mĕʾōd כִּ֖י for kî לְמִשְׁפָּטֶ֣ךָ in thy judgments. mišpāṭ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ I have hoped yāḥal

וְאֶשְׁמְרָ֖ה So shall I keep šāmar תוֹרָתְךָ֥ thy law tôrâ תָמִ֗יד continually tāmîd לְעוֹלָ֥ם for ever ʿôlām וָעֶֽד׃ and ever. ʿad

וְאֶתְהַלְּכָ֥ה And I will walk hālak בָרְחָבָ֑ה at liberty: rāḥāb כִּ֖י for kî פִקֻּדֶ֣יךָ thy precepts. piqqûd דָרָֽשְׁתִּי׃ I seek dāraš

וַאֲדַבְּרָ֣ה I will speak dābar בְ֭עֵדֹתֶיךָ of thy testimonies ʿēdâ נֶ֥גֶד also before neged מְלָכִ֗ים kings, melek וְלֹ֣א and will not lōʾ אֵבֽוֹשׁ׃ be ashamed. bûš

וְאֶשְׁתַּֽעֲשַׁ֥ע And I will delight myself šāʿaʿ בְּמִצְוֹתֶ֗יךָ in thy commandments, miṣwâ אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer אָהָֽבְתִּי׃ I have loved. ʾāhab

וְאֶשָּֽׂא also will I lift up nāśāʾ כַפַּ֗י My hands kap אֶֽל unto ʾēl מִ֭צְוֹתֶיךָ thy commandments, miṣwâ אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer אָהָ֗בְתִּי I have loved; ʾāhab וְאָשִׂ֥יחָה and I will meditate śîaḥ בְחֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ in thy statutes. ḥōq

זְכֹר Remember zākar דָּבָ֥ר the word dābār לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ unto thy servant, ʿebed עַ֝֗ל upon ʿal אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer יִֽחַלְתָּֽנִי׃ thou hast caused me to hope. yāḥal

זֹ֣את This zōt נֶחָמָתִ֣י my comfort neḥāmâ בְעָנְיִ֑י in my affliction: ʿŏnî כִּ֖י for kî אִמְרָתְךָ֣ thy word ʾimrâ חִיָּֽתְנִי׃ hath quickened me. ḥāyâ

זֵ֭דִים The proud zēd הֱלִיצֻ֣נִי in derision: lûṣ עַד ʿad מְאֹ֑ד have had me greatly mĕʾōd מִ֝תּֽוֹרָתְךָ֗ from thy law. tôrâ לֹ֣א have I not lōʾ נָטִֽיתִי׃ declined nāṭâ

זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי I remembered zākar מִשְׁפָּטֶ֖יךָ thy judgments mišpāṭ מֵעוֹלָ֥ם׀ of old, ʿôlām יְהוָ֗ה O Lord; yĕhōwâ וָֽאֶתְנֶחָֽם׃ and have comforted myself. nāḥam

זַלְעָפָ֣ה Horror zalʿāpâ אֲ֭חָזַתְנִי hath taken hold upon ʾāḥaz מֵרְשָׁעִ֑ים me because of the wicked rāšāʿ עֹ֝זְבֵ֗י that forsake ʿāzab תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ thy law. tôrâ

זְ֭מִרוֹת my songs zāmîr הָֽיוּ have been hāyâ לִ֥י חֻקֶּ֗יךָ Thy statutes ḥōq בְּבֵ֣ית in the house bayit מְגוּרָֽי׃ of my pilgrimage. māgûr

זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי I have remembered zākar בַלַּ֣יְלָה in the night, layil שִׁמְךָ֣ thy name, šēm יְהוָ֑ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ וָֽ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה and have kept šāmar תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ thy law. tôrâ

זֹ֥את This zōt הָֽיְתָה I had, hāyâ לִּ֑י כִּ֖י because kî פִקֻּדֶ֣יךָ thy precepts. piqqûd נָצָֽרְתִּי׃ I kept nāṣar

חֶלְקִ֖י my portion, ḥēleq יְהוָ֥ה O Lord: yĕhōwâ אָמַ֗רְתִּי I have said ʾāmar לִשְׁמֹ֥ר that I would keep šāmar דְּבָרֶֽיךָ׃ thy words. dābār

חִלִּ֣יתִי I intreated ḥālâ פָנֶ֣יךָ thy favour pānîm בְכָל with whole kōl לֵ֑ב heart: lēb חָ֝נֵּ֗נִי be merciful ḥānan כְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃ unto me according to thy word. ʾimrâ

חִשַּׁ֥בְתִּי I thought ḥāšab דְרָכָ֑י on my ways, derek וָאָשִׁ֥יבָה and turned šûb רַ֝גְלַ֗י my feet regel אֶל unto ʾēl עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ thy testimonies. ʿēdâ

חַ֭שְׁתִּי I made haste, ḥûš וְלֹ֣א not lōʾ הִתְמַהְמָ֑הְתִּי and delayed māhah לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר to keep šāmar מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ thy commandments. miṣwâ

חֶבְלֵ֣י The bands ḥebel רְשָׁעִ֣ים of the wicked rāšāʿ עִוְּדֻ֑נִי have robbed ʿûd תּֽ֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ thy law. tôrâ לֹ֣א me: I have not lōʾ שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ forgotten šākaḥ

חֲצֽוֹת At midnight ḥāṣôt לַ֗יְלָה layil אָ֭קוּם I will rise qûm לְהוֹד֣וֹת to give thanks yādâ לָ֑ךְ עַ֝֗ל unto thee because of ʿal מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י judgments. mišpāṭ צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ thy righteous ṣedeq

חָבֵ֣ר a companion ḥābēr אָ֭נִי I ʾănî לְכָל of all kōl אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer יְרֵא֑וּךָ fear yārēʾ וּ֝לְשֹׁמְרֵ֗י thee, and of them that keep šāmar פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃ thy precepts. piqqûd

חַסְדְּךָ֣ of thy mercy: ḥēsēd יְ֭הוָה O Lord, yĕhōwâ מָלְאָ֥ה is full mālēʾ הָאָ֗רֶץ The earth, ʾereṣ חֻקֶּ֥יךָ me thy statutes. ḥōq לַמְּדֵֽנִי׃ teach lāmad

ט֭וֹב well ṭôb עָשִׂ֣יתָ Thou hast dealt ʿāśâ עִֽם with ʿim עַבְדְּךָ֑ thy servant, ʿebed יְ֝הוָ֗ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ according unto thy word. dābār

ט֤וּב me good ṭûb טַ֣עַם judgment ṭaʿam וָדַ֣עַת and knowledge: daʿat לַמְּדֵ֑נִי Teach lāmad כִּ֖י for kî בְמִצְוֹתֶ֣יךָ thy commandments. miṣwâ הֶאֱמָֽנְתִּי׃ I have believed ʾāman

טֶ֣רֶם Before ṭerem אֶ֭עֱנֶה was afflicted ʿānâ אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî שֹׁגֵ֑ג I went astray: šāgag וְ֝עַתָּ֗ה but now ʿattâ אִמְרָתְךָ֥ thy word. ʾimrâ שָׁמָֽרְתִּי׃ have I kept šāmar

טוֹב good, ṭôb אַתָּ֥ה Thou ʾattâ וּמֵטִ֗יב and doest good; ṭôb לַמְּדֵ֥נִי teach lāmad חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ me thy statutes. ḥōq

טָפְל֬וּ have forged ṭāpal עָלַ֣י against ʿal שֶׁ֣קֶר a lie šeqer זֵדִ֑ים The proud zēd אֲ֝נִ֗י me: I ʾănî בְּכָל with whole kōl לֵ֤ב׀ heart. lēb אֱצֹּ֬ר will keep nāṣar פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃ thy precepts piqqûd

טָפַ֣שׁ is as fat ṭāpaš כַּחֵ֣לֶב as grease; ḥeleb לִבָּ֑ם Their heart lēb אֲ֝נִ֗י I ʾănî תּוֹרָתְךָ֥ in thy law. tôrâ שִֽׁעֲשָֽׁעְתִּי׃ delight šāʿaʿ

טֽוֹב good ṭôb לִ֥י כִֽי for me that kî עֻנֵּ֑יתִי I have been afflicted; ʿānâ לְ֝מַ֗עַן that maʿan אֶלְמַ֥ד I might learn lāmad חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ thy statutes. ḥōq

טֽוֹב better ṭôb לִ֥י תֽוֹרַת The law tôrâ פִּ֑יךָ of thy mouth pe מֵ֝אַלְפֵ֗י unto me than thousands ʾelep זָהָ֥ב of gold zāhāb וָכָֽסֶף׃ and silver. kesep

יָדֶ֣יךָ Thy hands yād עָ֭שׂוּנִי have made ʿāśâ וַֽיְכוֹנְנ֑וּנִי me and fashioned kûn הֲ֝בִינֵ֗נִי me: give me understanding, bîn וְאֶלְמְדָ֥ה that I may learn lāmad מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ thy commandments. miṣwâ

יְ֭רֵאֶיךָ They that fear yārēʾ יִרְא֣וּנִי when they see rāʾâ וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ thee will be glad śāmaḥ כִּ֖י me; because kî לִדְבָרְךָ֣ in thy word. dābār יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ I have hoped yāḥal

יָדַ֣עְתִּי I know, yādaʿ יְ֭הוָה O Lord, yĕhōwâ כִּי that kî צֶ֣דֶק right, ṣedeq מִשְׁפָּטֶ֑יךָ thy judgments mišpāṭ וֶ֝אֱמוּנָ֗ה and thou in faithfulness ʾĕmûnâ עִנִּיתָֽנִי׃ hast afflicted me. ʿānâ

יְהִי be hāyâ נָ֣א Let, I pray thee, nāʾ חַסְדְּךָ֣ thy merciful kindness ḥēsēd לְנַחֲמֵ֑נִי for my comfort, nāḥam כְּאִמְרָתְךָ֥ according to thy word ʾimrâ לְעַבְדֶּֽךָ׃ unto thy servant. ʿebed

יְבֹא֣וּנִי come bôʾ רַחֲמֶ֣יךָ Let thy tender mercies raḥam וְאֶֽחְיֶ֑ה unto me, that I may live: ḥāyâ כִּי for kî תֽ֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ thy law tôrâ שַֽׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃ my delight. šaʿšuaʿ

יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ be ashamed; bûš זֵ֭דִים Let the proud zēd כִּי for kî שֶׁ֣קֶר with me without a cause: šeqer עִוְּת֑וּנִי they dealt perversely ʿāwat אֲ֝נִ֗י I ʾănî אָשִׂ֥יחַ will meditate śîaḥ בְּפִקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃ in thy precepts. piqqûd

יָשׁ֣וּבוּ thee turn šûb לִ֣י יְרֵאֶ֑יךָ Let those that fear yārēʾ וְ֝יֹדְעֵ֗ו unto me, and those that have known yādaʿ עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ thy testimonies. ʿēdâ

יְהִֽי be hāyâ לִבִּ֣י Let my heart lēb תָמִ֣ים sound tāmîm בְּחֻקֶּ֑יךָ in thy statutes; ḥōq לְ֝מַ֗עַן that maʿan לֹ֣א I be not lōʾ אֵבֽוֹשׁ׃ ashamed. bûš

כָּלְתָ֣ה fainteth kālâ לִתְשׁוּעָתְךָ֣ for thy salvation: tĕšûʿâ נַפְשִׁ֑י My soul nepeš לִדְבָרְךָ֥ in thy word. dābār יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ I hope yāḥal

כָּל֣וּ fail kālâ עֵ֭ינַי Mine eyes ʿayin לְאִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ for thy word, ʾimrâ לֵ֝אמֹ֗ר saying, ʾāmar מָתַ֥י When mātay תְּֽנַחֲמֵֽנִי׃ wilt thou comfort me? nāḥam

כִּֽי For kî הָ֭יִיתִי I am become hāyâ כְּנֹ֣אד like a bottle nōd בְּקִיט֑וֹר in the smoke; qîṭôr חֻ֝קֶּ֗יךָ thy statutes. ḥōq לֹ֣א do I not lōʾ שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ forget šākaḥ

כַּמָּ֥ה How many mâ יְמֵֽי the days yôm עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ of thy servant? ʿebed מָתַ֬י when mātay תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה wilt thou execute ʿāśâ בְרֹדְפַ֣י on them that persecute me? rādap מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ judgment mišpāṭ

כָּֽרוּ have digged kārâ לִ֣י זֵדִ֣ים The proud zēd שִׁיח֑וֹת pits šîḥâ אֲ֝שֶׁ֗ר for me, which ʾăšer לֹ֣א not lōʾ כְתוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ after thy law. tôrâ

כָּל All kōl מִצְוֹתֶ֥יךָ thy commandments miṣwâ אֱמוּנָ֑ה faithful: ʾĕmûnâ שֶׁ֖קֶר me wrongfully; šeqer רְדָפ֣וּנִי they persecute rādap עָזְרֵֽנִי׃ help thou me. ʿāzar

כִּ֭מְעַט They had almost mĕʿaṭ כִּלּ֣וּנִי consumed kālâ בָאָ֑רֶץ me upon earth; ʾereṣ וַ֝אֲנִ֗י but I ʾănî לֹא not lōʾ עָזַ֥בְתִּי forsook ʿāzab פִקֻּדֶֽיךָ׃ thy precepts. piqqûd

כְּחַסְדְּךָ֥ me after thy lovingkindness; ḥēsēd חַיֵּ֑נִי Quicken ḥāyâ וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה so shall I keep šāmar עֵד֥וּת the testimony ʿēdût פִּֽיךָ׃ of thy mouth. pe

לְעוֹלָ֥ם For ever, ʿôlām יְהוָ֑ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ דְּ֝בָרְךָ֗ thy word dābār נִצָּ֥ב is settled nāṣab בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ in heaven. šāmayim

לְדֹ֣ר unto all dôr וָ֭דֹר generations: dôr אֱמֽוּנָתֶ֑ךָ Thy faithfulness ʾĕmûnâ כּוֹנַ֥נְתָּ thou hast established kûn אֶ֝֗רֶץ the earth, ʾereṣ וַֽתַּעֲמֹֽד׃ and it abideth. ʿāmad

לְֽ֭מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ according to thine ordinances: mišpāṭ עָמְד֣וּ They continue ʿāmad הַיּ֑וֹם this day yôm כִּ֖י for kî הַכֹּ֣ל all kōl עֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃ thy servants. ʿebed

לוּלֵ֣י Unless lûlēʾ ת֭וֹרָתְךָ thy law tôrâ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָ֑י my delights, šaʿšuaʿ אָ֝֗ז I should then ʾāz אָבַ֥דְתִּי have perished ʾābad בְעָנְיִֽי׃ in mine affliction. ʿŏnî

לְ֭עוֹלָם I will never ʿôlām לֹא lōʾ אֶשְׁכַּ֣ח forget šākaḥ פִּקּוּדֶ֑יךָ thy precepts: piqqûd כִּ֥י for kî בָ֝֗ם חִיִּיתָֽנִי׃ with them thou hast quickened me. ḥāyâ

לְֽךָ אֲ֭נִי I ʾănî הוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי thine, save yāšaʿ כִּ֖י me; for kî פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ thy precepts. piqqûd דָרָֽשְׁתִּי׃ I have sought dāraš

לִ֤י קִוּ֣וּ have waited qāwâ רְשָׁעִ֣ים The wicked rāšāʿ לְאַבְּדֵ֑נִי for me to destroy ʾābad עֵ֝דֹתֶ֗יךָ thy testimonies. ʿēdâ אֶתְבּוֹנָֽן׃ me: I will consider bîn

לְֽכָל of all kōl תִּ֭כְלָה perfection: tiklâ רָאִ֣יתִי I have seen rāʾâ קֵ֑ץ an end qēṣ רְחָבָ֖ה broad. rāḥāb מִצְוָתְךָ֣ thy commandment miṣwâ מְאֹֽד׃ exceeding mĕʾōd

מָֽה O how mâ אָהַ֥בְתִּי love I ʾāhab תוֹרָתֶ֑ךָ thy law! tôrâ כָּל all kōl הַ֝יּ֗וֹם the day. yôm הִ֣יא it hûʾ שִׂיחָתִֽי׃ my meditation śîḥâ

מֵ֭אֹ֣יְבַי than mine enemies: ʾōyēb תְּחַכְּמֵ֣נִי hast made me wiser ḥākam מִצְוֹתֶ֑ךָ Thou through thy commandments miṣwâ כִּ֖י for kî לְעוֹלָ֣ם ever with me. ʿôlām הִיא they hûʾ לִֽי׃

מִכָּל than all kōl מְלַמְּדַ֥י my teachers: lāmad הִשְׂכַּ֑לְתִּי I have more understanding śākal כִּ֥י for kî עֵ֝דְוֺתֶ֗יךָ thy testimonies ʿēdût שִׂ֣יחָה my meditation. śîḥâ לִֽֿי׃

מִזְּקֵנִ֥ים more than the ancients, zāqēn אֶתְבּוֹנָ֑ן I understand bîn כִּ֖י because kî פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ thy precepts. piqqûd נָצָֽרְתִּי׃ I keep nāṣar

מִכָּל from every kōl אֹ֣רַח way, ʾōraḥ רָ֭ע evil raʿ כָּלִ֣אתִי I have refrained kālāʾ רַגְלָ֑י my feet regel לְ֝מַ֗עַן that maʿan אֶשְׁמֹ֥ר I might keep šāmar דְּבָרֶֽךָ׃ thy word. dābār

מִמִּשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ from thy judgments: mišpāṭ לֹא I have not lōʾ סָ֑רְתִּי departed sûr כִּֽי for kî אַ֝תָּ֗ה thou ʾattâ הוֹרֵתָֽנִי׃ hast taught me. yārâ

מַה How mâ נִּמְלְצ֣וּ sweet are mālaṣ לְ֭חִכִּי unto my taste! ḥēk אִמְרָתֶ֗ךָ thy words ʾimrâ מִדְּבַ֥שׁ than honey dĕbaš לְפִֽי׃ to my mouth! pe

מִפִּקּוּדֶ֥יךָ Through thy precepts piqqûd אֶתְבּוֹנָ֑ן I get understanding: bîn עַל therefore ʿal כֵּ֝֗ן kēn שָׂנֵ֤אתִי׀ I hate śānēʾ כָּל every kōl אֹ֬רַח way. ʾōraḥ שָֽׁקֶר׃ false šeqer

נֵר a lamp nîr לְרַגְלִ֥י unto my feet, regel דְבָרֶ֑ךָ Thy word dābār וְ֝א֗וֹר and a light ʾôr לִנְתִיבָתִֽי׃ unto my path. nātîb

נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתִּי I have sworn, šābaʿ וָאֲקַיֵּ֑מָה and I will perform qûm לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר that I will keep šāmar מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י judgments. mišpāṭ צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ thy righteous ṣedeq

נַעֲנֵ֥יתִי I am afflicted ʿānâ עַד ʿad מְאֹ֑ד very much: mĕʾōd יְ֝הוָ֗ה me, O Lord, yĕhōwâ חַיֵּ֥נִי quicken ḥāyâ כִדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ according unto thy word. dābār

נִדְב֣וֹת the freewill offerings nĕdābâ פִּ֭י of my mouth, pe רְצֵה Accept, rāṣâ נָ֣א I beseech thee, nāʾ יְהוָ֑ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ וּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ me thy judgments. mišpāṭ לַמְּדֵֽנִי׃ and teach lāmad

נַפְשִׁ֣י My soul nepeš בְכַפִּ֣י in my hand: kap תָמִ֑יד continually tāmîd וְ֝תֽוֹרָתְךָ֗ thy law. tôrâ לֹ֣א yet do I not lōʾ שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ forget šākaḥ

נָתְנ֬וּ have laid nātan רְשָׁעִ֣ים The wicked rāšāʿ פַּ֣ח a snare paḥ לִ֑י וּ֝מִפִּקּוּדֶ֗יךָ from thy precepts. piqqûd לֹ֣א not lōʾ תָעִֽיתִי׃ for me: yet I erred tāʿâ

נָחַ֣לְתִּי have I taken as an heritage nāḥal עֵדְוֺתֶ֣יךָ Thy testimonies ʿēdût לְעוֹלָ֑ם for ever: ʿôlām כִּֽי for kî שְׂשׂ֖וֹן the rejoicing śāśôn לִבִּ֣י of my heart. lēb הֵֽמָּה׃ they hēm

נָטִ֣יתִי I have inclined nāṭâ לִ֭בִּי mine heart lēb לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת to perform ʿāśâ חֻקֶּ֗יךָ thy statutes ḥōq לְעוֹלָ֥ם alway, ʿôlām עֵֽקֶב׃ the end. ʿēqeb

סֵעֲפִ֥ים thoughts: sēʿēp שָׂנֵ֑אתִי I hate śānēʾ וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ but thy law tôrâ אָהָֽבְתִּי׃ do I love. ʾāhab

סִתְרִ֣י my hiding place sēter וּמָגִנִּ֣י and my shield: māgēn אָ֑תָּה Thou ʾattâ לִדְבָרְךָ֥ in thy word. dābār יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ I hope yāḥal

סֽוּרוּ Depart sûr מִמֶּ֥נִּי from min מְרֵעִ֑ים me, ye evildoers: rāʿaʿ וְ֝אֶצְּרָ֗ה for I will keep nāṣar מִצְוֹ֥ת the commandments miṣwâ אֱלֹהָֽי׃ of my God. ʾĕlōhîm

סָמְכֵ֣נִי Uphold sāmak כְאִמְרָתְךָ֣ me according unto thy word, ʾimrâ וְאֶֽחְיֶ֑ה that I may live: ḥāyâ וְאַל and let me not ʾal תְּ֝בִישֵׁ֗נִי be ashamed bûš מִשִּׂבְרִֽי׃ of my hope. śēber

סְעָדֵ֥נִי Hold thou me up, sāʿad וְאִוָּשֵׁ֑עָה and I shall be safe: yāšaʿ וְאֶשְׁעָ֖ה and I will have respect šāʿâ בְחֻקֶּ֣יךָ unto thy statutes ḥōq תָמִֽיד׃ continually. tāmîd

סָ֭לִיתָ Thou hast trodden down sālâ כָּל all kōl שׁוֹגִ֣ים them that err šāgâ מֵחֻקֶּ֑יךָ from thy statutes: ḥōq כִּי for kî שֶׁ֝֗קֶר falsehood. šeqer תַּרְמִיתָֽם׃ their deceit tormâ

סִגִ֗ים dross: sîg הִשְׁבַּ֥תָּ Thou puttest away šābat כָל all kōl רִשְׁעֵי the wicked rāšāʿ אָ֑רֶץ of the earth ʾereṣ לָ֝כֵ֗ן therefore kēn אָהַ֥בְתִּי I love ʾāhab עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ thy testimonies. ʿēdâ

סָמַ֣ר trembleth sāmar מִפַּחְדְּךָ֣ for fear paḥad בְשָׂרִ֑י My flesh bāśār וּֽמִמִּשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ of thy judgments. mišpāṭ יָרֵֽאתִי׃ of thee; and I am afraid yārēʾ

עָ֭שִׂיתִי I have done ʿāśâ מִשְׁפָּ֣ט judgment mišpāṭ וָצֶ֑דֶק and justice: ṣedeq בַּל me not bal תַּ֝נִּיחֵ֗נִי leave yānaḥ לְעֹֽשְׁקָֽי׃ to mine oppressors. ʿāšaq

עֲרֹ֣ב Be surety ʿārab עַבְדְּךָ֣ for thy servant ʿebed לְט֑וֹב for good: ṭôb אַֽל let not ʾal יַעַשְׁקֻ֥נִי oppress me. ʿāšaq זֵדִֽים׃ the proud zēd

עֵ֭ינַי Mine eyes ʿayin כָּל֣וּ fail kālâ לִֽישׁוּעָתֶ֑ךָ for thy salvation, yĕšûʿâ וּלְאִמְרַ֥ת and for the word ʾimrâ צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ of thy righteousness. ṣedeq

עֲשֵׂ֖ה Deal ʿāśâ עִם with ʿim עַבְדְּךָ֥ thy servant ʿebed כְחַסְדֶּ֗ךָ according unto thy mercy, ḥēsēd וְחֻקֶּ֥יךָ me thy statutes. ḥōq לַמְּדֵֽנִי׃ and teach lāmad

עַבְדְּךָ thy servant; ʿebed אָ֥נִי I ʾănî הֲבִינֵ֑נִי give me understanding, bîn וְ֝אֵדְעָ֗ה that I may know yādaʿ עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ thy testimonies. ʿēdâ

עֵ֭ת time ʿēt לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת to work: ʿāśâ לַיהוָ֑ה for Lord, yĕhōwâ הֵ֝פֵ֗רוּ they have made void pārar תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ thy law. tôrâ

עַל Therefore ʿal כֵּ֭ן kēn אָהַ֣בְתִּי I love ʾāhab מִצְוֹתֶ֑יךָ thy commandments miṣwâ מִזָּהָ֥ב above gold; zāhāb וּמִפָּֽז׃ yea, above fine gold. pāz

עַל Therefore ʿal כֵּ֤ן׀ kēn כָּל I esteem all kōl פִּקּ֣וּדֵי precepts piqqûd כֹ֣ל all kōl יִשָּׁ֑רְתִּי right; yāšar כָּל every kōl אֹ֖רַח way. ʾōraḥ שֶׁ֣קֶר false šeqer שָׂנֵֽאתִי׃ I hate śānēʾ

פְּלָא֥וֹת wonderful: peleʾ עֵדְוֺתֶ֑יךָ Thy testimonies ʿēdût עַל therefore ʿal כֵּ֝֗ן kēn נְצָרָ֥תַם keep them. nāṣar נַפְשִֽׁי׃ doth my soul nepeš

פֵּ֖תַח The entrance pētaḥ דְּבָרֶ֥יךָ of thy words dābār יָאִ֗יר giveth light; ʾôr מֵבִ֥ין it giveth understanding bîn פְּתָיִֽים׃ unto the simple. pĕtî

פִּֽי my mouth, pe פָ֭עַרְתִּי I opened pāʿar וָאֶשְׁאָ֑פָה and panted: šāʾap כִּ֖י for kî לְמִצְוֹתֶ֣יךָ for thy commandments. miṣwâ יָאָֽבְתִּי׃ I longed yāʾab

פְּנֵה Look pānâ אֵלַ֥י thou upon ʾēl וְחָנֵּ֑נִי me, and be merciful ḥānan כְּ֝מִשְׁפָּ֗ט unto me, as thou usest mišpāṭ לְאֹהֲבֵ֥י to do unto those that love ʾāhab שְׁמֶֽךָ׃ thy name. šēm

פְּ֭עָמַי my steps paʿam הָכֵ֣ן Order kûn בְּאִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ in thy word: ʾimrâ וְֽאַל and let not ʾal תַּשְׁלֶט have dominion over me. šālaṭ בִּ֥י כָל any kōl אָֽוֶן׃ iniquity ʾāwen

פְּ֭דֵנִי Deliver pādâ מֵעֹ֣שֶׁק me from the oppression ʿōšeq אָדָ֑ם of man: ʾādām וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה so will I keep šāmar פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃ thy precepts. piqqûd

פָּ֭נֶיךָ Make thy face pānîm הָאֵ֣ר to shine ʾôr בְּעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ upon thy servant; ʿebed וְ֝לַמְּדֵ֗נִי and teach lāmad אֶת me ʾēt חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ thy statutes. ḥōq

פַּלְגֵי Rivers peleg מַ֭יִם of waters mayim יָרְד֣וּ run down yārad עֵינָ֑י mine eyes, ʿayin עַ֝֗ל because ʿal לֹא not lōʾ שָׁמְר֥וּ they keep šāmar תוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ thy law. tôrâ

צַדִּ֣יק Righteous ṣaddîq אַתָּ֣ה thou, ʾattâ יְהוָ֑ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ וְ֝יָשָׁ֗ר and upright yāšār מִשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ׃ thy judgments. mišpāṭ

צִ֭וִּיתָ thou hast commanded ṣāwâ צֶ֣דֶק righteous ṣedeq עֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ Thy testimonies ʿēdâ וֶֽאֱמוּנָ֥ה faithful. ʾĕmûnâ מְאֹֽד׃ and very mĕʾōd

צִמְּתַ֥תְנִי hath consumed ṣāmat קִנְאָתִ֑י My zeal qinʾâ כִּֽי me, because kî שָׁכְח֖וּ have forgotten šākaḥ דְבָרֶ֣יךָ thy words. dābār צָרָֽי׃ mine enemies ṣar

צְרוּפָ֖ה pure: ṣārap אִמְרָתְךָ֥ Thy word ʾimrâ מְאֹ֗ד very mĕʾōd וְֽעַבְדְּךָ֥ therefore thy servant ʿebed אֲהֵבָֽהּ׃ loveth it. ʾāhab

צָעִ֣יר small ṣāʿîr אָנֹכִ֣י I ʾānōkî וְנִבְזֶ֑ה and despised: bāzâ פִּ֝קֻּדֶ֗יךָ thy precepts. piqqûd לֹ֣א do not lōʾ שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ I forget šākaḥ

צִדְקָתְךָ֣ Thy righteousness ṣĕdāqâ צֶ֣דֶק righteousness, ṣedeq לְעוֹלָ֑ם an everlasting ʿôlām וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ and thy law tôrâ אֱמֶֽת׃ the truth. ʾemet

צַר Trouble ṣar וּמָצ֥וֹק and anguish māṣôq מְצָא֑וּנִי have taken hold on māṣāʾ מִ֝צְוֺתֶ֗יךָ me: thy commandments miṣwâ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃ my delights. šaʿšuaʿ

צֶ֖דֶק The righteousness ṣedeq עֵדְוֺתֶ֥יךָ of thy testimonies ʿēdût לְעוֹלָ֗ם everlasting: ʿôlām הֲבִינֵ֥נִי give me understanding, bîn וְאֶחְיֶֽה׃ and I shall live. ḥāyâ

קָרָ֣אתִי I cried qārāʾ בְכָל with whole kōl לֵ֭ב heart; lēb עֲנֵ֥נִי hear ʿānâ יְהוָ֗ה me, O Lord: yĕhōwâ חֻקֶּ֥יךָ thy statutes. ḥōq אֶצֹּֽרָה׃ I will keep nāṣar

קְרָאתִ֥יךָ I cried qārāʾ הוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי unto thee; save yāšaʿ וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה me, and I shall keep šāmar עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ thy testimonies. ʿēdâ

קִדַּ֣מְתִּי I prevented qādam בַ֭נֶּשֶׁף the dawning nešep וָאֲשַׁוֵּ֑עָה of the morning, and cried: šāwaʿ לִדְבָרְיךָ֥ in thy word. dābār יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ I hoped yāḥal

קִדְּמ֣וּ prevent qādam עֵ֭ינַי Mine eyes ʿayin אַשְׁמֻר֑וֹת the watches, ʾašmurâ לָ֝שִׂ֗יחַ that I might meditate śîaḥ בְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃ in thy word. ʾimrâ

ק֭וֹלִי my voice qôl שִׁמְעָ֣ה Hear šāmaʿ כְחַסְדֶּ֑ךָ according unto thy lovingkindness: ḥēsēd יְ֝הוָ֗ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ כְּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥ךָ me according to thy judgment. mišpāṭ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ quicken ḥāyâ

קָ֭רְבוּ They draw nigh qārab רֹדְפֵ֣י that follow after rādap זִמָּ֑ה mischief: zimmâ מִתּוֹרָתְךָ֥ from thy law. tôrâ רָחָֽקוּ׃ they are far rāḥaq

קָר֣וֹב near, qārôb אַתָּ֣ה Thou ʾattâ יְהוָ֑ה O Lord; yĕhōwâ וְֽכָל and all kōl מִצְוֹתֶ֥יךָ thy commandments miṣwâ אֱמֶֽת׃ truth. ʾemet

קֶ֣דֶם of old qedem יָ֭דַעְתִּי I have known yādaʿ מֵעֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ Concerning thy testimonies, ʿēdâ כִּ֖י that kî לְעוֹלָ֣ם them for ever. ʿôlām יְסַדְתָּֽם׃ thou hast founded yāsad

רְאֵֽה Consider rāʾâ עָנְיִ֥י mine affliction, ʿŏnî וְחַלְּצֵ֑נִי and deliver ḥālaṣ כִּי me: for kî תֽ֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ thy law. tôrâ לֹ֣א I do not lōʾ שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ forget šākaḥ

רִיבָ֣ה Plead rîb רִ֭יבִי my cause, rîb וּגְאָלֵ֑נִי and deliver gāʾal לְאִמְרָתְךָ֥ me according to thy word. ʾimrâ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ me: quicken ḥāyâ

רָח֣וֹק far rāḥôq מֵרְשָׁעִ֣ים from the wicked: rāšāʿ יְשׁוּעָ֑ה Salvation yĕšûʿâ כִּֽי for kî חֻ֝קֶּיךָ thy statutes. ḥōq לֹ֣א not lōʾ דָרָֽשׁוּ׃ they seek dāraš

רַחֲמֶ֖יךָ thy tender mercies, raḥam רַבִּ֥ים׀ Great rab יְהוָ֑ה O Lord: yĕhōwâ כְּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ me according to thy judgments. mišpāṭ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ quicken ḥāyâ

רַ֭בִּים Many rab רֹדְפַ֣י my persecutors rādap וְצָרָ֑י and mine enemies; ṣar מֵ֝עֵדְוֺתֶ֗יךָ from thy testimonies. ʿēdût לֹ֣א do I not lōʾ נָטִֽיתִי׃ decline nāṭâ

רָאִ֣יתִי I beheld rāʾâ בֹ֭גְדִים the transgressors, bāgad וָֽאֶתְקוֹטָ֑טָה and was grieved; qûṭ אֲשֶׁ֥ר because ʾăšer אִ֝מְרָתְךָ֗ thy word. ʾimrâ לֹ֣א not lōʾ שָׁמָֽרוּ׃ they kept šāmar

רְ֭אֵה Consider rāʾâ כִּי how kî פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ thy precepts: piqqûd אָהָ֑בְתִּי I love ʾāhab יְ֝הוָ֗ה me, O Lord, yĕhōwâ כְּֽחַסְדְּךָ֥ according to thy lovingkindness. ḥēsēd חַיֵּֽנִי׃ quicken ḥāyâ

רֹאשׁ the beginning: rōš דְּבָרְךָ֥ Thy word dābār אֱמֶ֑ת true ʾemet וּ֝לְעוֹלָ֗ם for ever. ʿôlām כָּל and every one kōl מִשְׁפַּ֥ט judgments mišpāṭ צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ of thy righteous ṣedeq

שָׂ֭רִים Princes śar רְדָפ֣וּנִי have persecuted rādap חִנָּ֑ם me without a cause: ḥinnām וּ֝מִדְּבָרְיךָ֗ of thy word. dābār פָּחַ֥ד standeth in awe pāḥad לִבִּֽי׃ but my heart lēb

שָׂ֣שׂ rejoice śûś אָ֭נֹכִֽי I ʾānōkî עַל at ʿal אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ thy word, ʾimrâ כְּ֝מוֹצֵ֗א as one that findeth māṣāʾ שָׁלָ֥ל spoil. šālāl רָֽב׃ great rab

שֶׁ֣קֶר lying: šeqer שָׂ֭נֵאתִי I hate śānēʾ וַאֲתַעֵ֑בָה and abhor taʿāb תּוֹרָתְךָ֥ thy law tôrâ אָהָֽבְתִּי׃ do I love. ʾāhab

שֶׁ֣בַע Seven times šebaʿ בַּ֭יּוֹם a day yôm הִלַּלְתִּ֑יךָ do I praise hālal עַ֝֗ל thee because of ʿal מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י judgments. mišpāṭ צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ thy righteous ṣedeq

שָׁל֣וֹם peace šālôm רָ֭ב Great rab לְאֹהֲבֵ֣י have they which love ʾāhab תוֹרָתֶ֑ךָ thy law: tôrâ וְאֵֽין and nothing ʾayin לָ֥מוֹ מִכְשֽׁוֹל׃ shall offend them. mikšôl

שִׂבַּ֣רְתִּי I have hoped śābar לִֽישׁוּעָתְךָ֣ for thy salvation, yĕšûʿâ יְהוָ֑ה Lord, yĕhōwâ וּֽמִצְוֹתֶ֥יךָ thy commandments. miṣwâ עָשִֽׂיתִי׃ and done ʿāśâ

שָֽׁמְרָ֣ה hath kept šāmar נַ֭פְשִׁי My soul nepeš עֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ thy testimonies; ʿēdâ וָאֹהֲבֵ֥ם and I love ʾāhab מְאֹֽד׃ them exceedingly. mĕʾōd

שָׁמַ֣רְתִּי I have kept šāmar פִ֭קּוּדֶיךָ thy precepts piqqûd וְעֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ and thy testimonies: ʿēdâ כִּ֖י for kî כָל all kōl דְּרָכַ֣י my ways derek נֶגְדֶּֽךָ׃ before thee. neged

תִּקְרַ֤ב come near qārab רִנָּתִ֣י Let my cry rinnâ לְפָנֶ֣יךָ before pānîm יְהוָ֑ה thee, O Lord: yĕhōwâ כִּדְבָרְךָ֥ according to thy word. dābār הֲבִינֵֽנִי׃ give me understanding bîn

תָּב֣וֹא come bôʾ תְּחִנָּתִ֣י Let my supplication tĕḥinnâ לְפָנֶ֑יךָ before pānîm כְּ֝אִמְרָתְךָ֗ me according to thy word. ʾimrâ הַצִּילֵֽנִי׃ thee: deliver nāṣal

תַּבַּ֣עְנָה shall utter nābaʿ שְׂפָתַ֣י My lips śāpâ תְּהִלָּ֑ה praise, tĕhillâ כִּ֖י when kî תְלַמְּדֵ֣נִי thou hast taught lāmad חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ me thy statutes. ḥōq

תַּ֣עַן shall speak ʿānâ לְ֭שׁוֹנִי My tongue lāšôn אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ of thy word: ʾimrâ כִּ֖י for kî כָל all kōl מִצְוֹתֶ֣יךָ thy commandments miṣwâ צֶּֽדֶק׃ righteousness. ṣedeq

תְּהִֽי Let hāyâ יָדְךָ֥ thine hand yād לְעָזְרֵ֑נִי help ʿāzar כִּ֖י me; for kî פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ thy precepts. piqqûd בָחָֽרְתִּי׃ I have chosen bāḥar

תָּאַ֣בְתִּי I have longed tāʾab לִֽישׁוּעָתְךָ֣ for thy salvation, yĕšûʿâ יְהוָ֑ה O Lord; yĕhōwâ וְ֝תֽוֹרָתְךָ֗ and thy law tôrâ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃ my delight. šaʿšuaʿ

תְּֽחִי live, ḥāyâ נַ֭פְשִׁי Let my soul nepeš וּֽתְהַֽלְלֶ֑ךָּ and it shall praise hālal וּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥ךָ thee; and let thy judgments mišpāṭ יַעֲזְרֻֽנִי׃ help me. ʿāzar

תָּעִ֗יתִי I have gone astray tāʿâ כְּשֶׂ֣ה sheep; śe אֹ֭בֵד like a lost ʾābad בַּקֵּ֣שׁ seek bāqaš עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ thy servant; ʿebed כִּ֥י for kî מִ֝צְוֹתֶ֗יךָ thy commandments. miṣwâ לֹ֣א I do not lōʾ שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ forget šākaḥ
