  1. נָ֣סוּ flee nûs וְאֵין when no ʾayin רֹדֵ֣ף man pursueth: rādap רָשָׁ֑ע The wicked rāšāʿ וְ֝צַדִּיקִ֗ים but the righteous ṣaddîq כִּכְפִ֥יר as a lion. kĕpîr יִבְטָֽח׃ are bold bāṭaḥ
  2. בְּפֶ֣שַֽׁע For the transgression pešaʿ אֶ֭רֶץ of a land ʾereṣ רַבִּ֣ים many rab שָׂרֶ֑יהָ the princes śar וּבְאָדָ֥ם thereof: but by a man ʾādām מֵבִ֥ין of understanding bîn יֹ֝דֵ֗עַ knowledge yādaʿ כֵּ֣ן the state kēn יַאֲרִֽיךְ׃ shall be prolonged. ʾārak
  3. גֶּ֣בֶר man geber רָ֭שׁ A poor rûš וְעֹשֵׁ֣ק that oppresseth ʿāšaq דַּלִּ֑ים the poor dal מָטָ֥ר rain māṭar סֹ֝חֵ֗ף a sweeping sāḥap וְאֵ֣ין which leaveth no ʾayin לָֽחֶם׃ food. leḥem
  4. עֹזְבֵ֣י They that forsake ʿāzab ת֭וֹרָה the law tôrâ יְהַֽלְל֣וּ praise hālal רָשָׁ֑ע the wicked: rāšāʿ וְשֹׁמְרֵ֥י but such as keep šāmar ת֝וֹרָ֗ה the law tôrâ יִתְגָּ֥רוּ contend with them. gārâ בָֽם׃
  5. אַנְשֵׁי men ʾĕnôš רָ֭ע Evil raʿ לֹא not lōʾ יָבִ֣ינוּ understand bîn מִשְׁפָּ֑ט judgment: mišpāṭ וּמְבַקְשֵׁ֥י but they that seek bāqaš יְ֝הוָ֗ה the Lord yĕhōwâ יָבִ֥ינוּ understand bîn כֹֽל׃ all kōl
  6. טֽוֹב Better ṭôb רָ֭שׁ the poor rûš הוֹלֵ֣ךְ that walketh hālak בְּתֻמּ֑וֹ in his uprightness, tōm מֵעִקֵּ֥שׁ than perverse ʿiqqēš דְּ֝רָכַ֗יִם ways, derek וְה֣וּא though he hûʾ עָשִֽׁיר׃ rich. ʿāšîr
  7. נוֹצֵ֣ר Whoso keepeth nāṣar תּ֭וֹרָה the law tôrâ בֵּ֣ן son: bēn מֵבִ֑ין a wise bîn וְרֹעֶה but he that is a companion rāʿâ זֽ֝וֹלְלִ֗ים of riotous zālal יַכְלִ֥ים shameth kālam אָבִֽיו׃ his father. ʾāb
  8. מַרְבֶּ֣ה increaseth rābâ ה֭וֹנוֹ his substance, hôn בְּנֶ֣שֶׁךְ He that by usury nešek וְבתַרְבִּ֑ית and unjust gain tarbît לְחוֹנֵ֖ן it for him that will pity ḥānan דַּלִּ֣ים the poor. dal יִקְבְּצֶֽנּוּ׃ he shall gather qābaṣ
  9. מֵסִ֣יר He that turneth away sûr אָ֭זְנוֹ his ear ʾōzen מִשְּׁמֹ֣עַ from hearing šāmaʿ תּוֹרָ֑ה the law, tôrâ גַּ֥ם even gam תְּ֝פִלָּת֗וֹ his prayer tĕpillâ תּוֹעֵבָֽה׃ abomination. tôʿēba
  10. מַשְׁגֶּ֤ה to go astray šāgâ יְשָׁרִ֨ים׀ Whoso causeth the righteous yāšār בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ way, derek רָ֗ע in an evil raʿ בִּשְׁחוּת֥וֹ into his own pit: šĕḥût הֽוּא himself hûʾ יִפּ֑וֹל he shall fall nāpal וּ֝תְמִימִ֗ים but the upright tāmîm יִנְחֲלוּ in possession. nāḥal טֽוֹב׃ shall have good ṭôb
  11. חָכָ֣ם wise ḥākām בְּ֭עֵינָיו in his own conceit; ʿayin אִ֣ישׁ man ʾîš עָשִׁ֑יר The rich ʿāšîr וְדַ֖ל but the poor dal מֵבִ֣ין that hath understanding bîn יַחְקְרֶֽנּוּ׃ searcheth him out. ḥāqar
  12. בַּעֲלֹ֣ץ do rejoice, ʿālaṣ צַ֭דִּיקִים When righteous ṣaddîq רַבָּ֣ה great rab תִפְאָ֑רֶת glory: tipʾārâ וּבְק֥וּם rise, qûm רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים but when the wicked rāšāʿ יְחֻפַּ֥שׂ is hidden. ḥāpaś אָדָֽם׃ a man ʾādām
  13. מְכַסֶּ֣ה He that covereth kāsâ פְ֭שָׁעָיו his sins pešaʿ לֹ֣א shall not lōʾ יַצְלִ֑יחַ prosper: ṣālaḥ וּמוֹדֶ֖ה but whoso confesseth yādâ וְעֹזֵ֣ב and forsaketh ʿāzab יְרֻחָֽם׃ shall have mercy. rāḥam
  14. אַשְׁרֵ֣י Happy ʾešer אָ֭דָם the man ʾādām מְפַחֵ֣ד that feareth pāḥad תָּמִ֑יד alway: tāmîd וּמַקְשֶׁ֥ה but he that hardeneth qāšâ לִ֝בּ֗וֹ his heart lēb יִפּ֥וֹל shall fall nāpal בְּרָעָֽה׃ into mischief. raʿ
  15. אֲרִי lion, ʾărî נֹ֭הֵם a roaring nāham וְדֹ֣ב bear; dōb שׁוֹקֵ֑ק and a ranging šāqaq מוֹשֵׁ֥ל ruler māšal רָ֝שָׁ֗ע a wicked rāšāʿ עַ֣ל over ʿal עַם people. ʿam דָּֽל׃ the poor dal
  16. נָגִ֗יד The prince nāgîd חֲסַ֣ר that wanteth ḥāsēr תְּ֭בוּנוֹת understanding tābûn וְרַ֥ב also a great rab מַעֲשַׁקּ֑וֹת oppressor: maʿăšaqqâ שֹׂ֥נֵאי he that hateth śānēʾ בֶ֝֗צַע covetousness beṣaʿ יַאֲרִ֥יךְ shall prolong ʾārak יָמִֽים׃ days. yôm
  17. אָ֭דָם A man ʾādām עָשֻׁ֣ק that doeth violence ʿāšaq בְּדַם to the blood dām נָ֑פֶשׁ of person nepeš עַד to ʿad בּ֥וֹר the pit; bôr יָ֝נ֗וּס shall flee nûs אַל let no ʾal יִתְמְכוּ man stay him. tāmak בֽוֹ׃
  18. הוֹלֵ֣ךְ Whoso walketh hālak תָּ֭מִים uprightly tāmîm יִוָּשֵׁ֑עַ shall be saved: yāšaʿ וְנֶעְקַ֥שׁ but perverse ʿāqaš דְּ֝רָכַ֗יִם ways derek יִפּ֥וֹל shall fall nāpal בְּאֶחָֽת׃ at once. ʾeḥād
  19. עֹבֵ֣ד He that tilleth ʿābad אַ֭דְמָתוֹ his land ʾădāmâ יִֽשְׂבַּֽע shall have plenty śābaʿ לָ֑חֶם of bread: leḥem וּמְרַדֵּ֥ף but he that followeth rādap רֵ֝יקִ֗ים after vain rêq יִֽשְׂבַּֽע śābaʿ רִֽישׁ׃ shall have poverty enough. rêš
  20. אִ֣ישׁ man ʾîš אֱ֭מוּנוֹת A faithful ʾĕmûnâ רַב shall abound rab בְּרָכ֑וֹת with blessings: bĕrākâ וְאָ֥ץ but he that maketh haste ʾûṣ לְ֝הַעֲשִׁ֗יר to be rich ʿāšar לֹ֣א shall not lōʾ יִנָּקֶֽה׃ be innocent. nāqâ
  21. הַֽכֵּר To have respect nākar פָּנִ֥ים of persons pānîm לֹא not lōʾ ט֑וֹב good: ṭôb וְעַל for for ʿal פַּת a piece pat לֶ֝֗חֶם of bread leḥem יִפְשַׁע will transgress. pāšaʿ גָּֽבֶר׃ man geber
  22. נִֽבֳהָ֥ל that hasteth bāhal לַה֗וֹן to be rich hôn אִ֭ישׁ He ʾîš רַ֣ע an evil raʿ עָ֑יִן eye, ʿayin וְלֹֽא not lōʾ יֵ֝דַע and considereth yādaʿ כִּי that חֶ֥סֶר poverty ḥeser יְבֹאֶֽנּוּ׃ shall come upon him. bôʾ
  23. מ֘וֹכִ֤יחַ He that rebuketh yākaḥ אָדָ֣ם a man ʾādām אַ֭חֲרַי afterwards ʾaḥar חֵ֣ן more favour ḥēn יִמְצָ֑א shall find māṣāʾ מִֽמַּחֲלִ֥יק than he that flattereth ḥālaq לָשֽׁוֹן׃ with the tongue. lāšôn
  24. גּוֹזֵ֤ל׀ Whoso robbeth gāzal אָ֘בִ֤יו his father ʾāb וְאִמּ֗וֹ or his mother, ʾēm וְאֹמֵ֥ר and saith, ʾāmar אֵֽין no ʾayin פָּ֑שַׁע transgression; pešaʿ חָבֵ֥ר the companion ḥābēr ה֝֗וּא the same hûʾ לְאִ֣ישׁ of a destroyer. ʾîš מַשְׁחִֽית׃ šāḥat
  25. רְחַב He that is of a proud rāḥāb נֶ֭פֶשׁ heart nepeš יְגָרֶ֣ה stirreth up gārâ מָד֑וֹן strife: mādôn וּבֹטֵ֖חַ but he that putteth his trust bāṭaḥ עַל in ʿal יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ יְדֻשָּֽׁן׃ shall be made fat. dāšēn
  26. בּוֹטֵ֣חַ that trusteth bāṭaḥ בְּ֭לִבּוֹ in his own heart lēb ה֣וּא He hûʾ כְסִ֑יל is a fool: kĕsîl וְהוֹלֵ֥ךְ but whoso walketh hālak בְּ֝חָכְמָ֗ה wisely, ḥokmâ ה֣וּא he hûʾ יִמָּלֵֽט׃ shall be delivered. mālaṭ
  27. נוֹתֵ֣ן He that giveth nātan לָ֭רָשׁ unto the poor rûš אֵ֣ין shall not ʾayin מַחְס֑וֹר lack: maḥsôr וּמַעְלִ֥ים but he that hideth ʿālam עֵ֝ינָ֗יו his eyes ʿayin רַב shall have many rab מְאֵרֽוֹת׃ a curse. mĕʾērâ
  28. בְּק֣וּם rise, qûm רְ֭שָׁעִים When the wicked rāšāʿ יִסָּתֵ֣ר hide themselves: sātar אָדָ֑ם men ʾādām וּ֝בְאָבְדָ֗ם but when they perish, ʾābad יִרְבּ֥וּ increase. rābâ צַדִּיקִֽים׃ the righteous ṣaddîq
