וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר spake dābar יְהוָ֖ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses, mōše לֵּאמֹֽר׃ saying, ʾāmar

וְאֶל to ʾēl בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ of Israel, yiśrāʾēl תֹּאמַר֒ Again, thou shalt say ʾāmar אִ֣ישׁ Whosoever ʾîš אִישׁ֩ ʾîš מִבְּנֵ֨י of the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl וּמִן or of min הַגֵּ֣ר׀ the strangers gēr הַגָּ֣ר that sojourn gûr בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל in Israel, yiśrāʾēl אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer יִתֵּ֧ן giveth nātan מִזַּרְע֛וֹ of his seed zeraʿ לַמֹּ֖לֶךְ unto Molech; mōlek מ֣וֹת he shall surely mût יוּמָ֑ת be put to death: mût עַ֥ם the people ʿam הָאָ֖רֶץ of the land ʾereṣ יִרְגְּמֻ֥הוּ shall stone rāgam בָאָֽבֶן׃ him with stones. ʾeben

וַֽאֲנִ֞י And I ʾănî אֶתֵּ֤ן will set nātan אֶת ʾēt פָּנַי֙ my face pānîm בָּאִ֣ישׁ man, ʾîš הַה֔וּא against that hûʾ וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י and will cut him off kārat אֹת֖וֹ ʾēt מִקֶּ֣רֶב from among qereb עַמּ֑וֹ his people; ʿam כִּ֤י because kî מִזַּרְעוֹ֙ of his seed zeraʿ נָתַ֣ן he hath given nātan לַמֹּ֔לֶךְ unto Molech, mōlek לְמַ֗עַן to maʿan טַמֵּא֙ defile ṭāmēʾ אֶת ʾēt מִקְדָּשִׁ֔י my sanctuary, miqdoš וּלְחַלֵּ֖ל and to profane ḥālal אֶת ʾēt שֵׁ֥ם name. šēm קָדְשִֽׁי׃ my holy qōdeš

וְאִ֡ם And if ʾim הַעְלֵ֣ם do any ways ʿālam יַעְלִימֽוּ֩ hide ʿālam עַ֨ם the people ʿam הָאָ֜רֶץ of the land ʾereṣ אֶת ʾēt עֵֽינֵיהֶם֙ their eyes ʿayin מִן min הָאִ֣ישׁ from the man, ʾîš הַה֔וּא hûʾ בְּתִתּ֥וֹ when he giveth nātan מִזַּרְע֖וֹ of his seed zeraʿ לַמֹּ֑לֶךְ unto Molech, mōlek לְבִלְתִּ֖י him not: biltî הָמִ֥ית and kill mût אֹתֽוֹ׃ ʾēt

וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י will set śûm אֲנִ֧י Then I ʾănî אֶת ʾēt פָּנַ֛י my face pānîm בָּאִ֥ישׁ man, ʾîš הַה֖וּא against that hûʾ וּבְמִשְׁפַּחְתּ֑וֹ and against his family, mišpāḥâ וְהִכְרַתִּ֨י and will cut him off, kārat אֹת֜וֹ ʾēt וְאֵ֣ת׀ ʾēt כָּל and all kōl הַזֹּנִ֣ים that go a whoring zānâ אַֽחֲרָ֗יו after ʾaḥar לִזְנ֛וֹת him, to commit whoredom zānâ אַֽחֲרֵ֥י with ʾaḥar הַמֹּ֖לֶךְ Molech, mōlek מִקֶּ֥רֶב from among qereb עַמָּֽם׃ their people. ʿam

וְהַנֶּ֗פֶשׁ And the soul nepeš אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer תִּפְנֶ֤ה turneth pānâ אֶל after ʾēl הָֽאֹבֹת֙ such as have familiar spirits, ʾôb וְאֶל and after ʾēl הַיִּדְּעֹנִ֔ים wizards, yiddĕʿōnî לִזְנֹ֖ת to go a whoring zānâ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם after ʾaḥar וְנָֽתַתִּ֤י them, I will even set nātan אֶת ʾēt פָּנַי֙ my face pānîm בַּנֶּ֣פֶשׁ soul, nepeš הַהִ֔וא against that hûʾ וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י and will cut him off kārat אֹת֖וֹ ʾēt מִקֶּ֥רֶב from among qereb עַמּֽוֹ׃ his people. ʿam

וְהִ֨תְקַדִּשְׁתֶּ֔ם Sanctify yourselves qādaš וִֽהְיִיתֶ֖ם therefore, and be hāyâ קְדֹשִׁ֑ים ye holy: qādôš כִּ֛י for kî אֲנִ֥י I ʾănî יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם׃ your God. ʾĕlōhîm

וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם֙ And ye shall keep šāmar אֶת ʾēt חֻקֹּתַ֔י my statutes, ḥuqqâ וַֽעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם and do ʿāśâ אֹתָ֑ם ʾēt אֲנִ֥י them: I ʾănî יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ מְקַדִּשְׁכֶֽם׃ which sanctify you. qādaš

כִּֽי For kî אִ֣ישׁ every ʾîš אִ֗ישׁ one ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer יְקַלֵּ֧ל curseth qālal אֶת ʾēt אָבִ֛יו his father ʾāb וְאֶת ʾēt אִמּ֖וֹ or his mother ʾēm מ֣וֹת shall be surely mût יוּמָ֑ת put to death: mût אָבִ֧יו his father ʾāb וְאִמּ֛וֹ or his mother; ʾēm קִלֵּ֖ל he hath cursed qālal דָּמָ֥יו his blood upon him. dām בּֽוֹ׃

וְאִ֗ישׁ And the man ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer יִנְאַף֙ committeth adultery nāʾap אֶת with ʾēt אֵ֣שֶׁת wife, ʾiššâ אִ֔ישׁ man's ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer יִנְאַ֖ף committeth adultery nāʾap אֶת with ʾēt אֵ֣שֶׁת wife, ʾiššâ רֵעֵ֑הוּ his neighbour's rēaʿ מֽוֹת shall surely mût יוּמַ֥ת be put to death. mût הַנֹּאֵ֖ף the adulterer nāʾap וְהַנֹּאָֽפֶת׃ and the adulteress nāʾap

וְאִ֗ישׁ And the man ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer יִשְׁכַּב֙ lieth šākab אֶת with ʾēt אֵ֣שֶׁת wife ʾiššâ אָבִ֔יו his father's ʾāb עֶרְוַ֥ת nakedness: ʿerwâ אָבִ֖יו his father's ʾāb גִּלָּ֑ה hath uncovered gālâ מֽוֹת of them shall surely mût יוּמְת֥וּ be put to death; mût שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם both šĕnayim דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם their blood upon them. dām בָּֽם׃

וְאִ֗ישׁ a man ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֤ר And if ʾăšer יִשְׁכַּב֙ lie šākab אֶת with ʾēt כַּלָּת֔וֹ his daughter in law, kallâ מ֥וֹת of them shall surely mût יֽוּמְת֖וּ be put to death: mût שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם both šĕnayim תֶּ֥בֶל confusion; tebel עָשׂ֖וּ they have wrought ʿāśâ דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם their blood upon them. dām בָּֽם׃

וְאִ֗ישׁ a man ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֨ר If ʾăšer יִשְׁכַּ֤ב also lie šākab אֶת with ʾēt זָכָר֙ mankind, zākār מִשְׁכְּבֵ֣י as he lieth miškāb אִשָּׁ֔ה with a woman, ʾiššâ תּֽוֹעֵבָ֥ה an abomination: tôʿēba עָשׂ֖וּ of them have committed ʿāśâ שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם both šĕnayim מ֥וֹת they shall surely mût יוּמָ֖תוּ be put to death; mût דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם their blood upon them. dām בָּֽם׃

וְאִ֗ישׁ a man ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֨ר And if ʾăšer יִקַּ֧ח take lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt אִשָּׁ֛ה a wife ʾiššâ וְאֶת ʾēt אִמָּ֖הּ and her mother, ʾēm זִמָּ֣ה wickedness: zimmâ הִ֑וא it hûʾ בָּאֵ֞שׁ with fire, ʾēš יִשְׂרְפ֤וּ they shall be burnt śārap אֹתוֹ֙ ʾēt וְאֶתְהֶ֔ן ʾēt וְלֹֽא no lōʾ תִהְיֶ֥ה both he and they; that there be hāyâ זִמָּ֖ה wickedness zimmâ בְּתֽוֹכְכֶֽם׃ among you. tāwek

וְאִ֗ישׁ a man ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֨ר And if ʾăšer יִתֵּ֧ן lie nātan שְׁכָבְתּ֛וֹ šĕkōbet בִּבְהֵמָ֖ה with a beast, bĕhēmâ מ֣וֹת he shall surely mût יוּמָ֑ת be put to death: mût וְאֶת ʾēt הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה the beast. bĕhēmâ תַּֽהֲרֹֽגוּ׃ and ye shall slay hārag

וְאִשָּׁ֗ה a woman ʾiššâ אֲשֶׁ֨ר And if ʾăšer תִּקְרַ֤ב approach qārab אֶל unto ʾēl כָּל any kōl בְּהֵמָה֙ beast, bĕhēmâ לְרִבְעָ֣ה and lie down rābaʿ אֹתָ֔הּ ʾēt וְהָֽרַגְתָּ֥ thereto, thou shalt kill hārag אֶת ʾēt הָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה the woman, ʾiššâ וְאֶת ʾēt הַבְּהֵמָ֑ה and the beast: bĕhēmâ מ֥וֹת they shall surely mût יוּמָ֖תוּ be put to death; mût דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם their blood upon them. dām בָּֽם׃

וְאִ֣ישׁ a man ʾîš אֲשֶׁר And if ʾăšer יִקַּ֣ח shall take lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt אֲחֹת֡וֹ his sister, ʾāḥôt בַּת daughter, bat אָבִ֣יו his father's ʾāb א֣וֹ or ʾô בַת daughter, bat אִ֠מּוֹ his mother's ʾēm וְרָאָ֨ה and see rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt עֶרְוָתָ֜הּ her nakedness, ʿerwâ וְהִֽיא and she hûʾ תִרְאֶ֤ה see rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt עֶרְוָתוֹ֙ his nakedness; ʿerwâ חֶ֣סֶד a wicked thing; ḥēsēd ה֔וּא it hûʾ וְנִ֨כְרְת֔וּ and they shall be cut off kārat לְעֵינֵ֖י in the sight ʿayin בְּנֵ֣י bēn עַמָּ֑ם of their people: ʿam עֶרְוַ֧ת nakedness; ʿerwâ אֲחֹת֛וֹ his sister's ʾāḥôt גִּלָּ֖ה he hath uncovered gālâ עֲוֹנ֥וֹ his iniquity. ʿāwōn יִשָּֽׂא׃ he shall bear nāśāʾ

וְ֠אִישׁ a man ʾîš אֲשֶׁר And if ʾăšer יִשְׁכַּ֨ב shall lie šākab אֶת with ʾēt אִשָּׁ֜ה a woman ʾiššâ דָּוָ֗ה having her sickness, dāwe וְגִלָּ֤ה and shall uncover gālâ אֶת ʾēt עֶרְוָתָהּ֙ her nakedness; ʿerwâ אֶת ʾēt מְקֹרָ֣הּ her fountain, māqôr הֶֽעֱרָ֔ה he hath discovered ʿārâ וְהִ֕וא and she hûʾ גִּלְּתָ֖ה hath uncovered gālâ אֶת ʾēt מְק֣וֹר the fountain māqôr דָּמֶ֑יהָ of her blood: dām וְנִכְרְת֥וּ of them shall be cut off kārat שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם and both šĕnayim מִקֶּ֥רֶב from among qereb עַמָּֽם׃ their people. ʿam

וְעֶרְוַ֨ת the nakedness ʿerwâ אֲח֧וֹת sister, ʾāḥôt אִמְּךָ֛ of thy mother's ʾēm וַֽאֲח֥וֹת sister: ʾāḥôt אָבִ֖יךָ nor of thy father's ʾāb לֹ֣א And thou shalt not lōʾ תְגַלֵּ֑ה uncover gālâ כִּ֧י for kî אֶת ʾēt שְׁאֵר֛וֹ his near kin: šĕʾēr הֶֽעֱרָ֖ה he uncovereth ʿārâ עֲוֹנָ֥ם their iniquity. ʿāwōn יִשָּֽׂאוּ׃ they shall bear nāśāʾ

וְאִ֗ישׁ a man ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֤ר And if ʾăšer יִשְׁכַּב֙ shall lie šākab אֶת with ʾēt דֹּ֣דָת֔וֹ his uncle's wife, dôdâ עֶרְוַ֥ת nakedness: ʿerwâ דֹּד֖וֹ his uncle's dôd גִּלָּ֑ה he hath uncovered gālâ חֶטְאָ֥ם their sin; ḥēṭĕʾ יִשָּׂ֖אוּ they shall bear nāśāʾ עֲרִירִ֥ים childless. ʿărîrî יָמֻֽתוּ׃ they shall die mût

וְאִ֗ישׁ a man ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֥ר And if ʾăšer יִקַּ֛ח shall take lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt אֵ֥שֶׁת wife, ʾiššâ אָחִ֖יו his brother's ʾāḥ נִדָּ֣ה an unclean thing: niddâ הִ֑וא it hûʾ עֶרְוַ֥ת nakedness; ʿerwâ אָחִ֛יו his brother's ʾāḥ גִּלָּ֖ה he hath uncovered gālâ עֲרִירִ֥ים childless. ʿărîrî יִֽהְיֽוּ׃ they shall be hāyâ

וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֤ם Ye shall therefore keep šāmar אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl חֻקֹּתַי֙ my statutes, ḥuqqâ וְאֶת ʾēt כָּל and all kōl מִשְׁפָּטַ֔י my judgments, mišpāṭ וַֽעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם and do ʿāśâ אֹתָ֑ם ʾēt וְלֹֽא lōʾ תָקִ֤יא therein, spue you not out. qôʾ אֶתְכֶם֙ ʾēt הָאָ֔רֶץ them: that the land, ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁ֨ר whither ʾăšer אֲנִ֜י I ʾănî מֵבִ֥יא bring bôʾ אֶתְכֶ֛ם ʾēt שָׁ֖מָּה šām לָשֶׁ֥בֶת you to dwell yāšab בָּֽהּ׃

וְלֹ֤א And ye shall not lōʾ תֵֽלְכוּ֙ walk hālak בְּחֻקֹּ֣ת in the manners ḥuqqâ הַגּ֔וֹי of the nation, gôy אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer אֲנִ֥י I ʾănî מְשַׁלֵּ֖חַ cast out šālaḥ מִפְּנֵיכֶ֑ם before pānîm כִּ֤י you: for kî אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl אֵ֙לֶּה֙ these things, ʾēlle עָשׂ֔וּ they committed ʿāśâ וָֽאָקֻ֖ץ and therefore I abhorred them. qûṣ בָּֽם׃

וָֽאֹמַ֣ר But I have said ʾāmar לָכֶ֗ם אַתֶּם֮ unto you, Ye ʾattâ תִּֽירְשׁ֣וּ shall inherit yāraš אֶת ʾēt אַדְמָתָם֒ their land, ʾădāmâ וַֽאֲנִ֞י and I ʾănî אֶתְּנֶ֤נָּה will give nātan לָכֶם֙ לָרֶ֣שֶׁת it unto you to possess yāraš אֹתָ֔הּ ʾēt אֶ֛רֶץ it, a land ʾereṣ זָבַ֥ת that floweth zûb חָלָ֖ב with milk ḥālāb וּדְבָ֑שׁ and honey: dĕbaš אֲנִי֙ I ʾănî יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם your God, ʾĕlōhîm אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer הִבְדַּ֥לְתִּי have separated bādal אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt מִן you from min הָֽעַמִּֽים׃ people. ʿam

וְהִבְדַּלְתֶּ֞ם Ye shall therefore put difference bādal בֵּֽין between bên הַבְּהֵמָ֤ה beasts bĕhēmâ הַטְּהֹרָה֙ clean ṭāhôr לַטְּמֵאָ֔ה and unclean, ṭāmēʾ וּבֵין and between bên הָע֥וֹף fowls ʿôp הַטָּמֵ֖א unclean ṭāmēʾ לַטָּהֹ֑ר and clean: ṭāhôr וְלֹֽא and ye shall not lōʾ תְשַׁקְּצ֨וּ abominable šāqaṣ אֶת ʾēt נַפְשֹֽׁתֵיכֶ֜ם make your souls nepeš בַּבְּהֵמָ֣ה by beast, bĕhēmâ וּבָע֗וֹף or by fowl, ʿôp וּבְכֹל֙ or by any manner kōl אֲשֶׁ֣ר ʾăšer תִּרְמֹ֣שׂ of living thing that creepeth rāmaś הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה on the ground, ʾădāmâ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer הִבְדַּ֥לְתִּי I have separated bādal לָכֶ֖ם לְטַמֵּֽא׃ from you as unclean. ṭāmēʾ

וִֽהְיִ֤יתֶם And ye shall be hāyâ לִי֙ קְדֹשִׁ֔ים holy qādôš כִּ֥י unto me: for kî קָד֖וֹשׁ holy, qādôš אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî יְהוָ֑ה the Lord yĕhōwâ וָֽאַבְדִּ֥ל and have severed bādal אֶתְכֶ֛ם ʾēt מִן you from min הָֽעַמִּ֖ים people, ʿam לִֽהְי֥וֹת that ye should be mine. hāyâ לִֽי׃

וְאִ֣ישׁ A man ʾîš אֽוֹ also or ʾô אִשָּׁ֗ה woman ʾiššâ כִּֽי that hath kî יִהְיֶ֨ה hāyâ בָהֶ֥ם א֛וֹב a familiar spirit, ʾôb א֥וֹ or ʾô יִדְּעֹנִ֖י that is a wizard, yiddĕʿōnî מ֣וֹת shall surely mût יוּמָ֑תוּ be put to death: mût בָּאֶ֛בֶן them with stones: ʾeben יִרְגְּמ֥וּ they shall stone rāgam אֹתָ֖ם ʾēt דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם their blood upon them. dām בָּֽם׃
