1ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಲೇಖಕರು ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಇವು ಕೂಡ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಸಾಮತಿಗಳೇ.These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
2ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ರಹಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವದು ದೇವರ ಮಹಿಮೆ; ಅರಸರ ಘನತೆಯು ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಶೋಧಿಸುವದು.It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
3ಆಕಾ ಶವು, ಉನ್ನತ ಭೂಮಿಯು ಅಗಾಧ ಮತ್ತು ಅರಸರ ಹೃದಯವು ಅಗೋಚರ.The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯಿಂದ ಕಲ್ಮಶವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿದರೆ ಅಕ್ಕಸಾಲಿಗನಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯು ಬರುವದು.Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
5ಅರಸನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಿಂದ ದುಷ್ಟರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿದರೆ ಅವನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವು ನೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗುವದು.Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6ಅರಸನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ; ದೊಡ್ಡವರ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಬೇಡ;Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
7ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾ ಎಂದು ನೀನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದು, ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ನೋಡಿದ ರಾಜನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ತಗ್ಗಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಲೇಸು.For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
8ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂಬದು ನೀನು ತಿಳಿಯ ದಂತೆ ದುಡುಕಿನಿಂದ ಕಲಹಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೋಗ ಬೇಡ.Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
9ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಚರ್ಚಿಸು; ಗುಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಹೊರಪಡಿಸಬೇಡ;Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:
10ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಪಡಿಸಿಯಾನು, ನಿನ್ನ ಅಪಕೀರ್ತಿಯು ಹೋಗದೆ ಇದ್ದೀತು.Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.
11ಸಮಯೋಚಿತವಾದ ಮಾತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಸೇಬಿನಂತಿದೆ.A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
12ಕೇಳುವ ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಗದರಿಕೆಯು ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೇ ಬಂಗಾ ರದ ಕಿವಿಯ ಓಲೆಯು ಚೊಕ್ಕಬಂಗಾರದ ಆಭರಣ ದಂತಿದೆ.As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13ಸುಗ್ಗಿಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಮಶೀತದ ಹಾಗೆ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವವರಿಗೆ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ಥನಾದ ಸೇವಕನಿ ದ್ದಾನೆ. ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನರ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಅವನು ನವಚೈತನ್ಯಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
14ಸುಳ್ಳಾದ ದಾನದ ವಿಷ ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಮಳೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಮೋಡ ಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ಗಾಳಿಯ ಹಾಗೆ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ.Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
15ದೀರ್ಘ ಶಾಂತಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಭುವನ್ನು ಸಮ್ಮತಿಪಡಿಸಬಹುದು. ಮೃದುವಾದ ನಾಲಿಗೆಯು ಎಲುಬನ್ನು ಮುರಿಯುತ್ತದೆ.By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
16ಜೇನನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೀಯಾ? ಅದನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ತೃಪ್ತಿಯಾಗುವಷ್ಟು ತಿನ್ನು; ಹೊಟ್ಟೆತುಂಬ ತಿಂದರೆ ಕಾರ ಬೇಕಾದೀತು.Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17ನೆರೆಯವನು ಬೇಸರಗೊಂಡು ಹಗೆ ಮಾಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರೂಪವಾಗಿ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಿಡು.Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.
18ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳುವವನು ಚಮಟಿಗೆ, ಕತ್ತಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಹರಿತವಾದ ಬಾಣವಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19ಕಷ್ಟ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪನಂಬಿಗಸ್ಥನಾದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಲ್ಲಿಯ ಭರವಸವು ಮುರಿದ ಹಲ್ಲು, ಕೀಲು ತಪ್ಪಿದ ಪಾದವು.Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20ಚಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವವನು ಸೋಡಾಉಪ್ಪಿನ ಹುಳಿಯ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮನಗುಂದಿದವನಿಗೆ ಸಂಗೀತಗ ಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುವನು.As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
21ನಿನ್ನ ಶತ್ರು ಹಸಿದಿದ್ದರೆ ತಿನ್ನುವ ದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಕೊಡು; ಅವನು ಬಾಯಾರಿದ್ದರೆ ಕುಡಿಯುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರು ಕೊಡು.If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22ಅವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆಂಕಿಯ ಕೆಂಡಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕುವಿ; ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲ ಕೊಡುವನು.For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
23ಉತ್ತರದ ಗಾಳಿಯು ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ನೂಕುತ್ತದೆ; ಅದರಂತೆಯೇ ಚಾಡಿಯ ನಾಲಿಗೆ ಕೋಪದ ಮುಖ ಮಾಡುವದೆ.The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.
24ವಿಶಾಲ ವಾದ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜಗಳಗಂಟಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇರುವದ ಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮಾಳಿಗೆಯ ಮೂಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವದು ಲೇಸು.It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
25ಬಾಯಾರಿದವನಿಗೆ ತಣ್ಣೀರು ಹೇಗೋ ದೂರ ದೇಶ ದಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಮಾಚಾರವು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ.As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
26ದುಷ್ಟರ ಮುಂದೆ ನೀತಿವಂತನು ಬೀಳುವದು, ಕದಲಿ ಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಬುಗ್ಗೆ, ಕೊಳಕಾದ ಒರತೆ ಇದ್ದಂತೆ.A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
27ಜೇನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ತಿನ್ನುವದು ಹಿತವಲ್ಲ; ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಸ್ವಂತ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವದು ಗೌರವವಲ್ಲ.It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
28ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಆಳದಿರುವವನು ಮುರಿ ಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಬಿದ್ದುಹೋಗಿ, ಗೋಡೆಗಳಿಲ್ಲದ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನ.He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
