ಅವನು ಒಫ್ರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಕುಮಾರರನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋತಾಮನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಉಳಿದನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡನು.

ನೀವು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ಶೆಕೆಮಿನ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರು ಕೇಳುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ -- ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿಯು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳುವದು ಒಳ್ಳೇದೋ? ಒಬ್ಬನು ಆಳುವದು ಒಳ್ಳೇದೋ? ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಎಲುಬೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾಂಸವೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
