  2. וַיִּמְכְּרֵ֣ם sold mākar יְהוָ֗ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּיַד֙ them into the hand yād יָבִ֣ין of Jabin yābîn מֶֽלֶךְ king melek כְּנַ֔עַן of Canaan, kĕnaʿan אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer מָלַ֖ךְ reigned mālak בְּחָצ֑וֹר in Hazor; ḥāṣôr וְשַׂר the captain śar צְבָאוֹ֙ of whose host ṣābāʾ סִֽיסְרָ֔א Sisera, sîsĕrāʾ וְה֥וּא which hûʾ יוֹשֵׁ֖ב dwelt yāšab בַּֽחֲרֹ֥שֶׁת in Harosheth ḥărōšet הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ of the Gentiles. gôy
  3. וַיִּצְעֲק֥וּ cried ṣāʿaq בְנֵֽי And the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl אֶל unto ʾēl יְהוָ֑ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ כִּ֠י for תְּשַׁ֨ע he had nine tēšaʿ מֵא֤וֹת hundred mēʾâ רֶֽכֶב chariots rekeb בַּרְזֶל֙ of iron; barzel ל֔וֹ וְ֠הוּא he hûʾ לָחַ֞ץ oppressed lāḥaṣ אֶת ʾēt בְּנֵ֧י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל of Israel. yiśrāʾēl בְּחָזְקָ֖ה mightily ḥozqâ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים and twenty ʿeśrîm שָׁנָֽה׃ years šāne
  4. וּדְבוֹרָה֙ And Deborah, dĕbbôrâ אִשָּׁ֣ה ʾiššâ נְבִיאָ֔ה a prophetess, nĕbîʾâ אֵ֖שֶׁת the wife ʾiššâ לַפִּיד֑וֹת of Lapidoth, lappîdôt הִ֛יא she hûʾ שֹֽׁפְטָ֥ה judged šāpaṭ אֶת ʾēt יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiśrāʾēl בָּעֵ֥ת time. ʿēt הַהִֽיא׃ at that hûʾ
  5. וְ֠הִיא And she hûʾ יוֹשֶׁ֨בֶת dwelt yāšab תַּֽחַת under taḥat תֹּ֜מֶר the palm tree tōmer דְּבוֹרָ֗ה of Deborah dĕbbôrâ בֵּ֧ין between bên הָֽרָמָ֛ה Ramah rāmâ וּבֵ֥ין bên בֵּֽית אֵ֖ל and Beth-el bêt ʾēl בְּהַ֣ר in mount har אֶפְרָ֑יִם Ephraim: ʾeprayim וַיַּֽעֲל֥וּ came up ʿālâ אֵלֶ֛יהָ to ʾēl בְּנֵ֥י and the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl לַמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ her for judgment. mišpāṭ
  6. וַתִּשְׁלַ֗ח And she sent šālaḥ וַתִּקְרָא֙ and called qārāʾ לְבָרָ֣ק Barak bārāq בֶּן the son bēn אֲבִינֹ֔עַם of Abinoam ʾăbînōʿam מִקֶּ֖דֶשׁ out of Kedesh-naphtali, qedeš נַפְתָּלִ֑י of Naphtali naptālî וַתֹּ֨אמֶר and said ʾāmar אֵלָ֜יו unto ʾēl הֲלֹ֥א him, Hath not lōʾ צִוָּ֣ה׀ commanded, ṣāwâ יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵֽי God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl לֵ֤ךְ Go hālak וּמָֽשַׁכְתָּ֙ and draw māšak בְּהַ֣ר toward mount har תָּב֔וֹר Tabor, tābôr וְלָֽקַחְתָּ֣ and take lāqaḥ עִמְּךָ֗ with ʿim עֲשֶׂ֤רֶת thee ten ʿeśer אֲלָפִים֙ thousand ʾelep אִ֔ישׁ men ʾîš מִבְּנֵ֥י of the children bēn נַפְתָּלִ֖י naptālî וּמִבְּנֵ֥י and of the children bēn זְבֻלֽוּן׃ of Zebulun? zĕbûlûn
  7. וּמָֽשַׁכְתִּ֨י And I will draw māšak אֵלֶ֜יךָ unto ʾēl אֶל thee to ʾēl נַ֣חַל the river naḥal קִישׁ֗וֹן Kishon qîšôn אֶת ʾēt סִֽיסְרָא֙ Sisera, sîsĕrāʾ שַׂר the captain śar צְבָ֣א army, ṣābāʾ יָבִ֔ין of Jabin's yābîn וְאֶת ʾēt רִכְבּ֖וֹ with his chariots rekeb וְאֶת ʾēt הֲמוֹנ֑וֹ and his multitude; hāmôn וּנְתַתִּ֖יהוּ and I will deliver nātan בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃ him into thine hand. yād
  8. וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said ʾāmar אֵלֶ֙יהָ֙ unto ʾēl בָּרָ֔ק And Barak bārāq אִם her, If ʾim תֵּֽלְכִ֥י thou wilt go hālak עִמִּ֖י with ʿim וְהָלָ֑כְתִּי me, then I will go: hālak וְאִם but if ʾim לֹ֥א thou wilt not lōʾ תֵֽלְכִ֛י go hālak עִמִּ֖י with ʿim לֹ֥א me, I will not lōʾ אֵלֵֽךְ׃ go. hālak
  9. וַתֹּ֜אמֶר And she said, ʾāmar הָלֹ֧ךְ I will surely hālak אֵלֵ֣ךְ go hālak עִמָּ֗ךְ with ʿim אֶ֚פֶס thee: notwithstanding ʾepes כִּי֩ for לֹ֨א shall not lōʾ תִֽהְיֶ֜ה be hāyâ תִּֽפְאַרְתְּךָ֗ for thine honour; tipʾārâ עַל ʿal הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ the journey derek אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer אַתָּ֣ה thou ʾattâ הוֹלֵ֔ךְ takest hālak כִּ֣י בְֽיַד into the hand yād אִשָּׁ֔ה of a woman. ʾiššâ יִמְכֹּ֥ר shall sell mākar יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt סִֽיסְרָ֑א Sisera sîsĕrāʾ וַתָּ֧קָם arose, qûm דְּבוֹרָ֛ה And Deborah dĕbbôrâ וַתֵּ֥לֶךְ and went hālak עִם with ʿim בָּרָ֖ק Barak bārāq קֶֽדְשָׁה׃ to Kedesh. qedeš
  10. וַיַּזְעֵ֨ק called zāʿaq בָּרָ֜ק And Barak bārāq אֶת ʾēt זְבוּלֻ֤ן Zebulun zĕbûlûn וְאֶת ʾēt נַפְתָּלִי֙ and Naphtali naptālî קֶ֔דְשָׁה to Kedesh; qedeš וַיַּ֣עַל and he went up ʿālâ בְּרַגְלָ֔יו at his feet: regel עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת with ten ʿeśer אַלְפֵ֖י thousand ʾelep אִ֑ישׁ men ʾîš וַתַּ֥עַל went up ʿālâ עִמּ֖וֹ with him. ʿim דְּבוֹרָֽה׃ and Deborah dĕbbôrâ
  11. וְחֶ֤בֶר Now Heber ḥeber הַקֵּינִי֙ the Kenite, qênî נִפְרָ֣ד had severed himself pārad מִקַּ֔יִן from the Kenites, qênî מִבְּנֵ֥י of the children bēn חֹבָ֖ב of Hobab ḥōbāb חֹתֵ֣ן the father in law ḥātan מֹשֶׁ֑ה of Moses, mōše וַיֵּ֣ט and pitched nāṭâ אָֽהֳל֔וֹ his tent ʾōhel עַד unto ʿad אֵל֥וֹן the plain ʾēlôn בְּצַעֲנִּ֖ים of Zaanaim, ṣaʿănannîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר which ʾăšer אֶת by ʾēt קֶֽדֶשׁ׃ Kedesh. qedeš
  12. וַיַּגִּ֖דוּ And they shewed nāgad לְסִֽיסְרָ֑א Sisera sîsĕrāʾ כִּ֥י that עָלָ֛ה was gone up ʿālâ בָּרָ֥ק Barak bārāq בֶּן the son bēn אֲבִינֹ֖עַם of Abinoam ʾăbînōʿam הַר to mount har תָּבֽוֹר׃ Tabor. tābôr
  13. וַיַּזְעֵ֨ק gathered together zāʿaq סִֽיסְרָ֜א And Sisera sîsĕrāʾ אֶת ʾēt כָּל all kōl רִכְבּ֗וֹ his chariots, rekeb תְּשַׁ֤ע nine tēšaʿ מֵאוֹת֙ hundred mēʾâ רֶ֣כֶב chariots rekeb בַּרְזֶ֔ל of iron, barzel וְאֶת ʾēt כָּל and all kōl הָעָ֖ם the people ʿam אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer אִתּ֑וֹ with ʾēt מֵֽחֲרֹ֥שֶׁת him, from Harosheth ḥărōšet הַגּוֹיִ֖ם of the Gentiles gôy אֶל unto ʾēl נַ֥חַל the river naḥal קִישֽׁוֹן׃ of Kishon. qîšôn
  14. וַתֹּאמֶר֩ said ʾāmar דְּבֹרָ֨ה And Deborah dĕbbôrâ אֶל unto ʾēl בָּרָ֜ק Barak, bārāq ק֗וּם Up; qûm כִּ֣י for זֶ֤ה this ze הַיּוֹם֙ the day yôm אֲשֶׁר֩ in which ʾăšer נָתַ֨ן hath delivered nātan יְהוָ֤ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt סִֽיסְרָא֙ Sisera sîsĕrāʾ בְּיָדֶ֔ךָ into thine hand: yād הֲלֹ֥א is not lōʾ יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ יָצָ֣א gone out yāṣāʾ לְפָנֶ֑יךָ before pānîm וַיֵּ֤רֶד went down yārad בָּרָק֙ thee? So Barak bārāq מֵהַ֣ר from mount har תָּב֔וֹר Tabor, tābôr וַֽעֲשֶׂ֧רֶת and ten ʿeśer אֲלָפִ֛ים thousand ʾelep אִ֖ישׁ men ʾîš אַֽחֲרָֽיו׃ after him. ʾaḥar
  15. וַיָּ֣הָם discomfited hāmam יְ֠הוָה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt סִֽיסְרָ֨א Sisera, sîsĕrāʾ וְאֶת ʾēt כָּל and all kōl הָרֶ֧כֶב chariots, rekeb וְאֶת ʾēt כָּל and all kōl הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֛ה host, maḥăne לְפִי with the edge pe חֶ֖רֶב of the sword ḥereb לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm בָרָ֑ק Barak; bārāq וַיֵּ֧רֶד lighted down yārad סִֽיסְרָ֛א so that Sisera sîsĕrāʾ מֵעַ֥ל off ʿal הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֖ה chariot, merkābâ וַיָּ֥נָס and fled away nûs בְּרַגְלָֽיו׃ on his feet. regel
  16. וּבָרָ֗ק But Barak bārāq רָדַ֞ף pursued rādap אַֽחֲרֵ֤י after ʾaḥar הָרֶ֙כֶב֙ the chariots, rekeb וְאַֽחֲרֵ֣י and after ʾaḥar הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה the host, maḥăne עַ֖ד unto ʿad חֲרֹ֣שֶׁת Harosheth ḥărōšet הַגּוֹיִ֑ם of the Gentiles: gôy וַיִּפֹּ֞ל fell nāpal כָּל and all kōl מַֽחֲנֵ֤ה the host maḥăne סִֽיסְרָא֙ of Sisera sîsĕrāʾ לְפִי upon the edge pe חֶ֔רֶב of the sword; ḥereb לֹ֥א there was not lōʾ נִשְׁאַ֖ר left. šāʾar עַד ʿad אֶחָֽד׃ a man ʾeḥād
  17. וְסִֽיסְרָא֙ Howbeit Sisera sîsĕrāʾ נָ֣ס fled away nûs בְּרַגְלָ֔יו on his feet regel אֶל to ʾēl אֹ֣הֶל the tent ʾōhel יָעֵ֔ל of Jael yāʿēl אֵ֖שֶׁת the wife ʾiššâ חֶ֣בֶר of Heber ḥeber הַקֵּינִ֑י the Kenite: qênî כִּ֣י for שָׁל֗וֹם peace šālôm בֵּ֚ין between bên יָבִ֣ין Jabin yābîn מֶֽלֶךְ the king melek חָצ֔וֹר of Hazor ḥāṣôr וּבֵ֕ין bên בֵּ֖ית and the house bayit חֶ֥בֶר of Heber ḥeber הַקֵּינִֽי׃ the Kenite. qênî
  18. וַתֵּצֵ֣א went out yāṣāʾ יָעֵל֮ And Jael yāʿēl לִקְרַ֣את to meet qirʾâ סִֽיסְרָא֒ Sisera, sîsĕrāʾ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר and said ʾāmar אֵלָ֗יו unto ʾēl סוּרָ֧ה him, Turn in, sûr אֲדֹנִ֛י my lord, ʾādôn סוּרָ֥ה turn in sûr אֵלַ֖י to ʾēl אַל not. ʾal תִּירָ֑א me; fear yārēʾ וַיָּ֤סַר And when he had turned in sûr אֵלֶ֙יהָ֙ unto ʾēl הָאֹ֔הֱלָה her into the tent, ʾōhel וַתְּכַסֵּ֖הוּ she covered kāsâ בַּשְּׂמִיכָֽה׃ him with a mantle. śĕmîkâ
  19. וַיֹּ֧אמֶר And he said ʾāmar אֵלֶ֛יהָ unto ʾēl הַשְׁקִֽינִי to drink; šāqâ נָ֥א her, Give me, I pray thee, nāʾ מְעַט a little mĕʿaṭ מַ֖יִם water mayim כִּ֣י for צָמֵ֑אתִי I am thirsty. ṣāmēʾ וַתִּפְתַּ֞ח And she opened pātaḥ אֶת ʾēt נֹ֧אוד a bottle nōd הֶֽחָלָ֛ב of milk, ḥālāb וַתַּשְׁקֵ֖הוּ and gave him drink, šāqâ וַתְּכַסֵּֽהוּ׃ and covered him. kāsâ
  20. וַיֹּ֣אמֶר Again he said ʾāmar אֵלֶ֔יהָ unto ʾēl עֲמֹ֖ד her, Stand in ʿāmad פֶּ֣תַח the door petaḥ הָאֹ֑הֶל of the tent, ʾōhel וְהָיָה֩ and it shall be, hāyâ אִם when ʾim אִ֨ישׁ any man ʾîš יָבֹ֜א doth come bôʾ וּשְׁאֵלֵ֗ךְ and inquire šāʾal וְאָמַ֛ר of thee, and say, ʾāmar הֲיֵֽשׁ Is there yēš פֹּ֥ה here? אִ֖ישׁ any man ʾîš וְאָמַ֥רְתְּ that thou shalt say, ʾāmar אָֽיִן׃ No. ʾayin
  21. וַתִּקַּ֣ח took lāqaḥ יָעֵ֣ל Then Jael yāʿēl אֵֽשֶׁת wife ʾiššâ חֶ֠בֶר Heber's ḥeber אֶת ʾēt יְתַ֨ד a nail yātēd הָאֹ֜הֶל of the tent, ʾōhel וַתָּ֧שֶׂם and took śûm אֶת ʾēt הַמַּקֶּ֣בֶת an hammer maqqebet בְּיָדָ֗הּ in her hand, yād וַתָּב֤וֹא and went bôʾ אֵלָיו֙ unto ʾēl בַּלָּ֔אט softly lāṭ וַתִּתְקַ֤ע him, and smote tāqaʿ אֶת ʾēt הַיָּתֵד֙ the nail yātēd בְּרַקָּת֔וֹ into his temples, raqqâ וַתִּצְנַ֖ח and fastened ṣānaḥ בָּאָ֑רֶץ it into the ground: ʾereṣ וְהֽוּא for he hûʾ נִרְדָּ֥ם was fast asleep rādam וַיָּ֖עַף and weary. ʿûp וַיָּמֹֽת׃ So he died. mût
  22. וְהִנֵּ֣ה And, behold, hinnē בָרָק֮ as Barak bārāq רֹדֵ֣ף pursued rādap אֶת ʾēt סִֽיסְרָא֒ Sisera, sîsĕrāʾ וַתֵּצֵ֤א came out yāṣāʾ יָעֵל֙ Jael yāʿēl לִקְרָאת֔וֹ to meet qirʾâ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר him, and said ʾāmar ל֔וֹ לֵ֣ךְ unto him, Come, hālak וְאַרְאֶ֔ךָּ and I will shew rāʾâ אֶת thee ʾēt הָאִ֖ישׁ the man ʾîš אֲשֶׁר whom ʾăšer אַתָּ֣ה thou ʾattâ מְבַקֵּ֑שׁ seekest. bāqaš וַיָּבֹ֣א And when he came bôʾ אֵלֶ֔יהָ into ʾēl וְהִנֵּ֤ה her behold, hinnē סִֽיסְרָא֙ Sisera sîsĕrāʾ נֹפֵ֣ל lay nāpal מֵ֔ת dead, mût וְהַיָּתֵ֖ד and the nail yātēd בְּרַקָּתֽוֹ׃ in his temples. raqqâ
  23. וַיַּכְנַ֤ע subdued kānaʿ אֱלֹהִים֙ So God ʾĕlōhîm בַּיּ֣וֹם day yôm הַה֔וּא on that hûʾ אֵ֖ת ʾēt יָבִ֣ין Jabin yābîn מֶֽלֶךְ the king melek כְּנָ֑עַן of Canaan kĕnaʿan לִפְנֵ֖י before pānîm בְּנֵ֥י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel. yiśrāʾēl
  24. וַתֵּ֜לֶךְ prospered, hālak יַ֤ד And the hand yād בְּנֵֽי of the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiśrāʾēl הָל֣וֹךְ and prevailed hālak וְקָשָׁ֔ה qāše עַ֖ל against ʿal יָבִ֣ין Jabin yābîn מֶֽלֶךְ the king melek כְּנָ֑עַן of Canaan, kĕnaʿan עַ֚ד until ʿad אֲשֶׁ֣ר ʾăšer הִכְרִ֔יתוּ they had destroyed kārat אֵ֖ת ʾēt יָבִ֥ין Jabin yābîn מֶֽלֶךְ king melek כְּנָֽעַן׃ of Canaan. kĕnaʿan
