וַֽיְהִ֗י it came to pass, hāyâ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ Now after ʾaḥar מ֣וֹת the death māwet יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ of Joshua yĕhôšûaʿ וַֽיִּשְׁאֲלוּ֙ asked šāʾal בְּנֵ֣י that the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl בַּֽיהוָ֖ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar מִ֣י Who mî יַֽעֲלֶה shall go up ʿālâ לָּ֧נוּ אֶל for us against ʾēl הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֛י the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî בַּתְּחִלָּ֖ה first, tĕḥillâ לְהִלָּ֥חֶם to fight against them? lāḥam בּֽוֹ׃

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar יְהוָ֖ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ יְהוּדָ֣ה Judah yĕhûdâ יַֽעֲלֶ֑ה shall go up: ʿālâ הִנֵּ֛ה behold, hinnē נָתַ֥תִּי I have delivered nātan אֶת ʾēt הָאָ֖רֶץ the land ʾereṣ בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ into his hand. yād

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוּדָה֩ And Judah yĕhûdâ לְשִׁמְע֨וֹן unto Simeon šimʿôn אָחִ֜יו his brother, ʾāḥ עֲלֵ֧ה Come up ʿālâ אִתִּ֣י with ʾēt בְגֹֽרָלִ֗י me into my lot, gôrāl וְנִֽלָּחֲמָה֙ that we may fight lāḥam בַּֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י against the Canaanites; kĕnaʿanî וְהָֽלַכְתִּ֧י will go hālak גַם likewise gam אֲנִ֛י and I ʾănî אִתְּךָ֖ with ʾēt בְּגֽוֹרָלֶ֑ךָ thee into thy lot. gôrāl וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ went hālak אִתּ֖וֹ with him. ʾēt שִׁמְעֽוֹן׃ So Simeon šimʿôn

וַיַּ֣עַל went up; ʿālâ יְהוּדָ֔ה And Judah yĕhûdâ וַיִּתֵּ֧ן delivered nātan יְהוָ֛ה and the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt הַכְּנַֽעֲנִ֥י the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî וְהַפְּרִזִּ֖י and the Perizzites pĕrizzî בְּיָדָ֑ם into their hand: yād וַיַּכּ֣וּם and they slew nākâ בְּבֶ֔זֶק of them in Bezek bezeq עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת ten ʿeśer אֲלָפִ֖ים thousand ʾelep אִֽישׁ׃ men. ʾîš

וַֽ֠יִּמְצְאוּ And they found māṣāʾ אֶת ʾēt אֲדֹנִ֥י בֶ֙זֶק֙ Adoni-bezek ʾădōnî bezeq בְּבֶ֔זֶק in Bezek: bezeq וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ and they fought lāḥam בּ֑וֹ וַיַּכּ֕וּ against him, and they slew nākâ אֶת ʾēt הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî וְאֶת ʾēt הַפְּרִזִּֽי׃ and the Perizzites. pĕrizzî

וַיָּ֙נָס֙ fled; nûs אֲדֹ֣נִי בֶ֔זֶק But Adoni-bezek ʾădōnî bezeq וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ and they pursued rādap אַֽחֲרָ֑יו after ʾaḥar וַיֹּֽאחֲז֣וּ him, and caught ʾāḥaz אוֹת֔וֹ ʾēt וַֽיְקַצְּצ֔וּ him, and cut off qāṣaṣ אֶת ʾēt בְּהֹנ֥וֹת his thumbs bōhen יָדָ֖יו yād וְרַגְלָֽיו׃ and his great toes. regel

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar אֲדֹֽנִי בֶ֗זֶק And Adoni-bezek ʾădōnî bezeq שִׁבְעִ֣ים׀ Threescore and ten šibʿîm מְלָכִ֡ים kings, melek בְּֽהֹנוֹת֩ having their thumbs bōhen יְדֵיהֶ֨ם yād וְרַגְלֵיהֶ֜ם and their great toes regel מְקֻצָּצִ֗ים cut off, qāṣaṣ הָי֤וּ hāyâ מְלַקְּטִים֙ gathered lāqaṭ תַּ֣חַת under taḥat שֻׁלְחָנִ֔י my table: šulḥān כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר as ʾăšer עָשִׂ֔יתִי I have done, ʿāśâ כֵּ֥ן so kēn שִׁלַּם hath requited šālam לִ֖י אֱלֹהִ֑ים God ʾĕlōhîm וַיְבִיאֻ֥הוּ me. And they brought bôʾ יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם him to Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim וַיָּ֥מָת he died. mût שָֽׁם׃ and there šām

וַיִּלָּֽחֲמ֤וּ had fought lāḥam בְנֵֽי Now the children bēn יְהוּדָה֙ of Judah yĕhûdâ בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם against Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim וַיִּלְכְּד֣וּ and had taken lākad אוֹתָ֔הּ ʾēt וַיַּכּ֖וּהָ it, and smitten nākâ לְפִי it with the edge pe חָ֑רֶב of the sword, ḥereb וְאֶת ʾēt הָעִ֖יר the city ʿîr שִׁלְּח֥וּ and set šālaḥ בָאֵֽשׁ׃ on fire. ʾēš

וְאַחַ֗ר And afterward ʾaḥar יָֽרְדוּ֙ went down yārad בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yĕhûdâ לְהִלָּחֵ֖ם to fight lāḥam בַּֽכְּנַעֲנִ֑י against the Canaanites, kĕnaʿanî יוֹשֵׁ֣ב that dwelt yāšab הָהָ֔ר in the mountain, har וְהַנֶּ֖גֶב and in the south, negeb וְהַשְּׁפֵלָֽה׃ and in the valley. šĕpēlâ

וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ went hālak יְהוּדָ֗ה And Judah yĕhûdâ אֶל against ʾēl הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî הַיּוֹשֵׁ֣ב that dwelt yāšab בְּחֶבְר֔וֹן in Hebron: ḥebrôn וְשֵׁם (now the name šēm חֶבְר֥וֹן of Hebron ḥebrôn לְפָנִ֖ים before pānîm קִרְיַ֣ת אַרְבַּ֑ע Kirjath-arba:) qiryat ʾarbaʿ וַיַּכּ֛וּ and they slew nākâ אֶת ʾēt שֵׁשַׁ֥י Sheshai, šēšay וְאֶת ʾēt אֲחִימַ֖ן and Ahiman, ʾăḥîman וְאֶת ʾēt תַּלְמָֽי׃ and Talmai. talmay

וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ he went hālak מִשָּׁ֔ם And from thence šām אֶל against ʾēl יֽוֹשְׁבֵ֖י the inhabitants yāšab דְּבִ֑יר of Debir: dĕbîr וְשֵׁם and the name šēm דְּבִ֥יר of Debir dĕbîr לְפָנִ֖ים before pānîm קִרְיַת סֵֽפֶר׃ Kirjath-sepher: qiryat sannâ

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said, ʾāmar כָּלֵ֔ב And Caleb kālēb אֲשֶׁר He that ʾăšer יַכֶּ֥ה smiteth nākâ אֶת ʾēt קִרְיַת סֵ֖פֶר Kirjath-sepher, qiryat sannâ וּלְכָדָ֑הּ and taketh lākad וְנָתַ֥תִּי it, to him will I give nātan ל֛וֹ אֶת ʾēt עַכְסָ֥ה Achsah ʿaksâ בִתִּ֖י my daughter bat לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ to wife. ʾiššâ

וַֽיִּלְכְּדָהּ֙ took lākad עָתְנִיאֵ֣ל And Othniel ʿotnîʾēl בֶּן the son bēn קְנַ֔ז of Kenaz, qĕnaz אֲחִ֥י brother, ʾāḥ כָלֵ֖ב Caleb's kālēb הַקָּטֹ֣ן younger qāṭān מִמֶּ֑נּוּ min וַיִּתֶּן it: and he gave nātan ל֛וֹ אֶת him ʾēt עַכְסָ֥ה Achsah ʿaksâ בִתּ֖וֹ his daughter bat לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ to wife. ʾiššâ

וַיְהִ֣י And it came to pass, hāyâ בְּבוֹאָ֗הּ when she came bôʾ וַתְּסִיתֵ֙הוּ֙ that she moved sût לִשְׁאֹ֤ל him to ask šāʾal מֵֽאֵת of ʾēt אָבִ֙יהָ֙ her father ʾāb הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה a field: śāde וַתִּצְנַ֖ח and she lighted ṣānaḥ מֵעַ֣ל from off ʿal הַֽחֲמ֑וֹר ass; ḥămôr וַיֹּֽאמֶר said ʾāmar לָ֥הּ כָּלֵ֖ב and Caleb kālēb מַה unto her, What wilt thou? mâ לָּֽךְ׃

וַתֹּ֨אמֶר And she said ʾāmar ל֜וֹ הָֽבָה unto him, Give yāhab לִּ֣י בְרָכָ֗ה me a blessing: bĕrākâ כִּ֣י for kî אֶ֤רֶץ land; ʾereṣ הַנֶּ֙גֶב֙ me a south negeb נְתַתָּ֔נִי thou hast given nātan וְנָֽתַתָּ֥ה give nātan לִ֖י גֻּלֹּ֣ת me also springs gullâ מָ֑יִם of water. mayim וַיִּתֶּן gave nātan לָ֣הּ כָּלֵ֗ב And Caleb kālēb אֵ֚ת her ʾēt גֻּלֹּ֣ת springs gullâ עִלִּ֔ית the upper ʿillî וְאֵ֖ת ʾēt גֻּלֹּ֥ת springs. gullâ תַּחְתִּֽית׃ and the nether taḥtî

וּבְנֵ֣י And the children bēn קֵינִי֩ of the Kenite, qênî חֹתֵ֨ן father in law, ḥātan מֹשֶׁ֜ה Moses' mōše עָל֨וּ went up ʿālâ מֵעִ֤יר out of the city ʿîr הַתְּמָרִים֙ of palm trees tāmār אֶת with ʾēt בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yĕhûdâ מִדְבַּ֣ר into the wilderness midbār יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ אֲשֶׁ֖ר which ʾăšer בְּנֶ֣גֶב in the south negeb עֲרָ֑ד of Arad; ʿărād וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ and they went hālak וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב and dwelt yāšab אֶת among ʾēt הָעָֽם׃ the people. ʿam

וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ went hālak יְהוּדָה֙ And Judah yĕhûdâ אֶת with ʾēt שִׁמְע֣וֹן Simeon šimʿôn אָחִ֔יו his brother, ʾāḥ וַיַּכּ֕וּ and they slew nākâ אֶת ʾēt הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî יוֹשֵׁ֣ב that inhabited yāšab צְפַ֑ת Zephath, ṣĕpat וַיַּֽחֲרִ֣ימוּ and utterly destroyed ḥāram אוֹתָ֔הּ it. And ʾēt וַיִּקְרָ֥א was called qārāʾ אֶת ʾēt שֵׁם the name šēm הָעִ֖יר of the city ʿîr חָרְמָֽה׃ Hormah. ḥormâ

וַיִּלְכֹּ֤ד took lākad יְהוּדָה֙ Also Judah yĕhûdâ אֶת ʾēt עַזָּ֣ה Gaza ʿazzâ וְאֶת with ʾēt גְּבוּלָ֔הּ the coast gĕbûl וְאֶֽת ʾēt אַשְׁקְל֖וֹן thereof, and Askelon ʾašqĕlôn וְאֶת ʾēt גְּבוּלָ֑הּ with the coast gĕbûl וְאֶת ʾēt עֶקְר֖וֹן thereof, and Ekron ʿeqrôn וְאֶת ʾēt גְּבוּלָֽהּ׃ with the coast thereof. gĕbûl

וַיְהִ֤י was hāyâ יְהוָה֙ And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת with ʾēt יְהוּדָ֔ה Judah; yĕhûdâ וַיֹּ֖רֶשׁ and he drave out yāraš אֶת ʾēt הָהָ֑ר the mountain; har כִּ֣י but kî לֹ֤א could not lōʾ לְהוֹרִישׁ֙ drive out yāraš אֶת ʾēt יֹֽשְׁבֵ֣י the inhabitants yāšab הָעֵ֔מֶק of the valley, ʿēmeq כִּי because kî רֶ֥כֶב they had chariots rekeb בַּרְזֶ֖ל of iron. barzel לָהֶֽם׃

וַיִּתְּנ֤וּ And they gave nātan לְכָלֵב֙ unto Caleb, kālēb אֶת ʾēt חֶבְר֔וֹן Hebron ḥebrôn כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר as ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֣ר said: dābar מֹשֶׁ֑ה Moses mōše וַיּ֣וֹרֶשׁ and he expelled yāraš מִשָּׁ֔ם thence šām אֶת ʾēt שְׁלֹשָׁ֖ה the three šālôš בְּנֵ֥י sons bēn הָֽעֲנָֽק׃ of Anak. ʿānāq

וְאֶת ʾēt הַיְבוּסִי֙ the Jebusites yĕbûsî יֹשֵׁ֣ב that inhabited yāšab יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם Jerusalem; yĕrûšālaim לֹ֥א did not lōʾ הוֹרִ֖ישׁוּ drive out yāraš בְּנֵ֣י And the children bēn בִנְיָמִ֑ן of Benjamin binyāmîn וַיֵּ֨שֶׁב dwell yāšab הַיְבוּסִ֜י but the Jebusites yĕbûsî אֶת with ʾēt בְּנֵ֤י the children bēn בִנְיָמִן֙ of Benjamin binyāmîn בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם in Jerusalem yĕrûšālaim עַ֖ד unto ʿad הַיּ֥וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze

וַיַּֽעֲל֧וּ went up ʿālâ בֵית And the house bayit יוֹסֵ֛ף of Joseph, yôsēp גַּם also gam הֵ֖ם they hēm בֵּֽית אֵ֑ל against Beth-el: bêt ʾēl וַֽיהוָ֖ה and the Lord yĕhōwâ עִמָּֽם׃ with them. ʿim

וַיָּתִ֥ירוּ sent to descry tûr בֵית And the house bayit יוֹסֵ֖ף of Joseph yôsēp בְּבֵֽית אֵ֑ל Beth-el. bêt ʾēl וְשֵׁם (Now the name šēm הָעִ֥יר of the city ʿîr לְפָנִ֖ים before pānîm לֽוּז׃ Luz.) lûz

וַיִּרְאוּ֙ saw rāʾâ הַשֹּׁ֣מְרִ֔ים And the spies šāmar אִ֖ישׁ a man ʾîš יוֹצֵ֣א come forth yāṣāʾ מִן out of min הָעִ֑יר the city, ʿîr וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ and they said ʾāmar ל֗וֹ הַרְאֵ֤נוּ unto him, Shew rāʾâ נָא֙ us, we pray thee, nāʾ אֶת ʾēt מְב֣וֹא the entrance mābôʾ הָעִ֔יר into the city, ʿîr וְעָשִׂ֥ינוּ and we will shew ʿāśâ עִמְּךָ֖ ʿim חָֽסֶד׃ thee mercy. ḥēsēd

וַיַּרְאֵם֙ And when he shewed rāʾâ אֶת them ʾēt מְב֣וֹא the entrance mābôʾ הָעִ֔יר into the city, ʿîr וַיַּכּ֥וּ they smote nākâ אֶת ʾēt הָעִ֖יר the city ʿîr לְפִי with the edge pe חָ֑רֶב of the sword; ḥereb וְאֶת ʾēt הָאִ֥ישׁ the man ʾîš וְאֶת ʾēt כָּל and all kōl מִשְׁפַּחְתּ֖וֹ his family. mišpāḥâ שִׁלֵּֽחוּ׃ but they let go šālaḥ

וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ went hālak הָאִ֔ישׁ And the man ʾîš אֶ֖רֶץ into the land ʾereṣ הַֽחִתִּ֑ים of the Hittites, ḥittî וַיִּ֣בֶן and built bānâ עִ֗יר a city, ʿîr וַיִּקְרָ֤א and called qārāʾ שְׁמָהּ֙ the name šēm ל֔וּז thereof Luz: lûz ה֣וּא which hûʾ שְׁמָ֔הּ the name šēm עַ֖ד thereof unto ʿad הַיּ֥וֹם day. yôm הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze

וְלֹֽא Neither lōʾ הוֹרִ֣ישׁ drive out yāraš מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה did Manasseh mĕnašše אֶת ʾēt בֵּית שְׁאָ֣ן Beth-shean bêt šĕʾān וְאֶת ʾēt בְּנוֹתֶיהָ֮ and her towns, bat וְאֶת ʾēt תַּעְנַ֣ךְ nor Taanach taʿănok וְאֶת ʾēt בְּנֹתֶיהָ֒ and her towns, bat אֶת ʾēt יֽשְׁבֵ֨ nor the inhabitants yāšab ד֜וֹר of Dor dôr וְאֶת ʾēt בְּנוֹתֶ֗יהָ and her towns, bat וְאֶת ʾēt יֽוֹשְׁבֵ֤י nor the inhabitants yāšab יִבְלְעָם֙ of Ibleam yiblĕʿām וְאֶת ʾēt בְּנֹתֶ֔יהָ and her towns, bat וְאֶת ʾēt יֽוֹשְׁבֵ֥י nor the inhabitants yāšab מְגִדּ֖וֹ of Megiddo mĕgiddôn וְאֶת ʾēt בְּנוֹתֶ֑יהָ and her towns: bat וַיּ֙וֹאֶל֙ would yāʾal הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י but the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî לָשֶׁ֖בֶת dwell yāšab בָּאָ֥רֶץ land. ʾereṣ הַזֹּֽאת׃ in that zōt

וַֽיְהִי֙ And it came to pass, hāyâ כִּֽי when kî חָזַ֣ק was strong, ḥāzaq יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel yiśrāʾēl וַיָּ֥שֶׂם that they put śûm אֶת ʾēt הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî לָמַ֑ס to tribute, mas וְהוֹרֵ֖ישׁ utterly yāraš לֹ֥א and did not lōʾ הֽוֹרִישֽׁוֹ׃ drive them out. yāraš

וְאֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ did Ephraim ʾeprayim לֹ֣א Neither lōʾ הוֹרִ֔ישׁ drive out yāraš אֶת ʾēt הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî הַיּוֹשֵׁ֣ב that dwelt yāšab בְּגָ֑זֶר in Gezer; gezer וַיֵּ֧שֶׁב dwelt yāšab הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֛י but the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî בְּקִרְבּ֖וֹ among them. qereb בְּגָֽזֶר׃ in Gezer gezer

זְבוּלֻ֗ן did Zebulun zĕbûlûn לֹ֤א Neither lōʾ הוֹרִישׁ֙ drive out yāraš אֶת ʾēt יֽוֹשְׁבֵ֣י the inhabitants yāšab קִטְר֔וֹן of Kitron, qiṭrôn וְאֶת ʾēt יֽוֹשְׁבֵ֖י nor the inhabitants yāšab נַֽהֲלֹ֑ל of Nahalol; nahălāl וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב dwelt yāšab הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ but the Canaanites kĕnaʿanî בְּקִרְבּ֔וֹ among qereb וַיִּֽהְי֖וּ them, and became hāyâ לָמַֽס׃ tributaries. mas

אָשֵׁ֗ר did Asher ʾāšēr לֹ֤א Neither lōʾ הוֹרִישׁ֙ drive out yāraš אֶת ʾēt יֹֽשְׁבֵ֣י the inhabitants yāšab עַכּ֔וֹ of Accho, ʿakkô וְאֶת ʾēt יֽוֹשְׁבֵ֖י nor the inhabitants yāšab צִיד֑וֹן of Zidon, ṣîdôn וְאֶת ʾēt אַחְלָ֤ב nor of Ahlab, ʾaḥlāb וְאֶת ʾēt אַכְזִיב֙ nor of Achzib, ʾakzîb וְאֶת ʾēt חֶלְבָּ֔ה nor of Helbah, ḥelbâ וְאֶת ʾēt אֲפִ֖יק nor of Aphik, ʾăpēq וְאֶת ʾēt רְחֹֽב׃ nor of Rehob: rĕḥōb

וַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ dwelt yāšab הָאָ֣שֵׁרִ֔י But the Asherites ʾāšērî בְּקֶ֥רֶב among qereb הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י the Canaanites, kĕnaʿanî יֹֽשְׁבֵ֣י the inhabitants yāšab הָאָ֑רֶץ of the land: ʾereṣ כִּ֖י for kî לֹ֥א they did not lōʾ הֽוֹרִישֽׁוֹ׃ drive them out. yāraš

נַפְתָּלִ֗י did Naphtali naptālî לֹֽא Neither lōʾ הוֹרִ֞ישׁ drive out yāraš אֶת ʾēt יֹֽשְׁבֵ֤י the inhabitants yāšab בֵֽית שֶׁ֙מֶשׁ֙ of Beth-shemesh, bêt šemeš וְאֶת ʾēt יֹֽשְׁבֵ֣י nor the inhabitants yāšab בֵית עֲנָ֔ת of Beth-anath; bêt ʿănāt וַיֵּ֕שֶׁב but he dwelt yāšab בְּקֶ֥רֶב among qereb הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י the Canaanites, kĕnaʿanî יֹֽשְׁבֵ֣י the inhabitants yāšab הָאָ֑רֶץ of the land: ʾereṣ וְיֹֽשְׁבֵ֤י nevertheless the inhabitants yāšab בֵֽית שֶׁ֙מֶשׁ֙ of Beth-shemesh bêt šemeš וּבֵ֣ית עֲנָ֔ת and of Beth-anath bêt ʿănāt הָי֥וּ became hāyâ לָהֶ֖ם לָמַֽס׃ tributaries unto them. mas

וַיִּלְחֲצ֧וּ forced lāḥaṣ הָֽאֱמֹרִ֛י And the Amorites ʾĕmōrî אֶת ʾēt בְּנֵי the children bēn דָ֖ן of Dan dān הָהָ֑רָה into the mountain: har כִּי for kî לֹ֥א they would not lōʾ נְתָנ֖וֹ suffer nātan לָרֶ֥דֶת them to come down yārad לָעֵֽמֶק׃ to the valley: ʿēmeq

וַיּ֤וֹאֶל would yāʾal הָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ But the Amorites ʾĕmōrî לָשֶׁ֣בֶת dwell yāšab בְּהַר in mount har חֶ֔רֶס Heres ḥeres בְּאַיָּל֖וֹן in Aijalon, ʾayyālôn וּבְשַֽׁעַלְבִ֑ים and in Shaalbim: šaʿalbîm וַתִּכְבַּד֙ prevailed, kābad יַ֣ד yet the hand yād בֵּית of the house bayit יוֹסֵ֔ף of Joseph yôsēp וַיִּֽהְי֖וּ so that they became hāyâ לָמַֽס׃ tributaries. mas

וּגְבוּל֙ And the coast gĕbûl הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י of the Amorites ʾĕmōrî מִֽמַּעֲלֵ֖ה from the going up maʿăle עַקְרַבִּ֑ים to Akrabbim, maʿălē ʿaqrabbîm מֵֽהַסֶּ֖לַע from the rock, selaʿ וָמָֽעְלָה׃ and upward. maʿal
