அப்பொழுது கிபியோனின் மனுஷர் கில்காலிலிருக்கிற பாளயத்துக்கு யோசுவாவினிடத்தில் ஆளனுப்பி: உமது அடியாரைக் கைவிடாமல், சீக்கிரமாய் எங்களிடத்தில் வந்து, எங்களை இரட்சித்து, எங்களுக்குத் துணை செய்யும்; பர்வதங்களிலே குடியிருக்கிற எமோரியரின் ராஜாக்களெல்லாரும் எங்களுக்கு விரோதமாகக் கூடினார்கள் என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னார்கள்.

கிபியோன் நகர ஜனங்கள் கில்காலில் முகாமிட்டுத் தங்கி இருந்த யோசுவாவிற்குச் செய்தியனுப்பினார்கள்: அதில், “நாங்கள் உமது பணியாட்கள்! எங்களைக் கைவிட்டு விடாதீர்கள். வந்து எங்களுக்கு உதவுங்கள்! விரைந்து வாருங்கள், எங்களைக் காப்பாற்றுங்கள்! மலை நாட்டின் எமோரிய அரசர்கள் எல்லோரும் எங்களை எதிர்த்துப் போரிடுவதற்கு அவர்கள் படைகளைக் கொண்டுவந்துள்ளனர்” என்று இருந்தது.
