அப்பொழுது மாலுமி அவனிடத்தில் வந்து நீ நித்திரைபண்ணுகிறது என்ன? எழுந்திருந்து உன் தேவனை நோக்கி வேண்டிக்கொள்; நாம் அழிந்துபோகாதபடிக்குச் சுவாமி ஒருவேளை நம்மை நினைத்தருளுவார் என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது மாலுமி அவனிடம் வந்து: நீ தூங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது என்ன? எழுந்திருந்து உன்னுடைய தேவனை நோக்கி வேண்டிக்கொள்; நாம் அழிந்துபோகாமலிருக்க உன்னுடைய தேவன் ஒருவேளை நம்மை நினைத்தருளுவார் என்றான்.

படகின் தலைவன் யோனாவிடம், “எழுந்திரு! ஏன் தூங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறாய்? உனது தேவனிடம் ஜெபம் செய். ஒரு வேளை உனது தேவன் உன் ஜெபத்தைக் கேட்டு நம்மைக் காப்பாற்றலாம்!” என்றான்.

கப்பல் தலைவன் அவரிடம் வந்து, “என்ன இது? இப்படித் தூங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறாயே! எழுந்திரு. நீயும் உன் தெய்வத்தை நோக்கி வேண்டிக்கொள். ஒருவேளை அந்தத் தெய்வமாவது நம்மைக் காப்பாற்றலாம். நாம் அழிந்து போகாதிருப்போம்” என்றான்.⒫

Appoluthu maalumi avanidaththil vanthu nee niththiraipannnukirathu enna? Elunthirunthu un thaevanai Nnokki vaenntikkol; naam alinthupokaathapatikkuch suvaami oruvaelai nammai ninaiththaruluvaar entan.
