וַיַּ֖עַן answered ʿānâ אִיּ֥וֹב Then Job ʾiyyôb אֶת ʾēt יְהוָ֗ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ and said, ʾāmar

יָ֭דַעְתִּ I know yādaʿ כִּי that kî כֹ֣ל every kōl תּוּכָ֑ל thou canst do yākōl וְלֹא and no lōʾ יִבָּצֵ֖ר can be withholden bāṣar מִמְּךָ֣ from thee. min מְזִמָּֽה׃ thought mĕzimmâ

מִ֤י Who mî זֶ֨ה׀ he ze מַעְלִ֥ים that hideth ʿālam עֵצָ֗ה counsel ʿēṣâ בְּֽלִ֫י without bĕlî דָ֥עַת knowledge? daʿat לָכֵ֣ן therefore kēn הִ֭גַּדְתִּי have I uttered nāgad וְלֹ֣א not; lōʾ אָבִ֑ין that I understood bîn נִפְלָא֥וֹת things too wonderful pālāʾ מִ֝מֶּ֗נִּי for min וְלֹ֣א not. lōʾ אֵדָֽע׃ me, which I knew yādaʿ

שְֽׁמַֽע Hear, šāmaʿ נָ֭א I beseech thee, nāʾ וְאָנֹכִ֣י and I ʾānōkî אֲדַבֵּ֑ר will speak: dābar אֶ֝שְׁאָלְךָ֗ I will demand šāʾal וְהוֹדִיעֵֽנִי׃ of thee, and declare thou unto me. yādaʿ

לְשֵֽׁמַע I have heard šāmaʿ אֹ֥זֶן of the ear: ʾōzen שְׁמַעְתִּ֑יךָ of thee by the hearing šēmaʿ וְ֝עַתָּ֗ה but now ʿattâ עֵינִ֥י mine eye ʿayin רָאָֽתְךָ׃ seeth thee. rāʾâ

עַל Wherefore ʿal כֵּ֭ן kēn אֶמְאַ֣ס I abhor māʾas וְנִחַ֑מְתִּי and repent nāḥam עַל in ʿal עָפָ֥ר dust ʿāpār וָאֵֽפֶר׃ and ashes. ʾēper

וַיְהִ֗י And it was hāyâ אַחַ֨ר that after ʾaḥar דִּבֶּ֧ר had spoken dābar יְהוָ֛ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt הַדְּבָרִ֥ים words dābār הָאֵ֖לֶּה these ʾēlle אֶל unto ʾēl אִיּ֑וֹב Job, ʾiyyôb וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar יְהוָ֜ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל to ʾēl אֱלִיפַ֣ז Eliphaz ʾĕlîpaz הַתֵּֽימָנִ֗י the Temanite, têmānî חָרָ֨ה is kindled ḥārâ אַפִּ֤י My wrath ʾap בְךָ֙ וּבִשְׁנֵ֣י against thee, and against thy two šĕnayim רֵעֶ֔יךָ friends: rēaʿ כִּ֠י for kî לֹ֣א ye have not lōʾ דִבַּרְתֶּ֥ם spoken dābar אֵלַ֛י of ʾēl נְכוֹנָ֖ה me right, kûn כְּעַבְדִּ֥י as my servant ʿebed אִיּֽוֹב׃ Job ʾiyyôb

וְעַתָּ֡ה unto you now ʿattâ קְחֽוּ Therefore take lāqaḥ לָכֶ֣ם שִׁבְעָֽה seven šebaʿ פָרִים֩ bullocks par וְשִׁבְעָ֨ה and seven šebaʿ אֵילִ֜ים rams, ʾayil וּלְכ֣וּ׀ and go hālak אֶל to ʾēl עַבְדִּ֣י my servant ʿebed אִיּ֗וֹב Job, ʾiyyôb וְהַעֲלִיתֶ֤ם and offer up ʿālâ עוֹלָה֙ yourselves a burnt offering; ʿōlâ בַּֽעַדְכֶ֔ם for bĕʿad וְאִיּ֣וֹב Job ʾiyyôb עַבְדִּ֔י and my servant ʿebed יִתְפַּלֵּ֖ל shall pray pālal עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם for ʿal כִּ֧י you: for kî אִם ʾim פָּנָ֣יו him pānîm אֶשָּׂ֗א will I accept: nāśāʾ לְבִלְתִּ֞י lest biltî עֲשׂ֤וֹת I deal ʿāśâ עִמָּכֶם֙ with ʿim נְבָלָ֔ה you folly, nĕbālâ כִּ֠י in that kî לֹ֣א ye have not lōʾ דִבַּרְתֶּ֥ם spoken dābar אֵלַ֛י of ʾēl נְכוֹנָ֖ה me right, kûn כְּעַבְדִּ֥י like my servant ʿebed אִיּֽוֹב׃ Job. ʾiyyôb

וַיֵּלְכוּ֩ went, hālak אֱלִיפַ֨ז So Eliphaz ʾĕlîpaz הַתֵּֽימָנִ֜י the Temanite têmānî וּבִלְדַּ֣ד and Bildad bildad הַשּׁוּחִ֗י the Shuhite šûḥî צֹפַר֙ Zophar ṣôpar הַנַּ֣עֲמָתִ֔י the Naamathite naʿămātî וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֔וּ and did ʿāśâ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר according as ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֥ר commanded dābar אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם ʾēl יְהוָ֑ה the Lord yĕhōwâ וַיִּשָּׂ֥א also accepted nāśāʾ יְהוָ֖ה them: the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt פְּנֵ֥י pānîm אִיּֽוֹב׃ Job. ʾiyyôb

וַֽיהוָ֗ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ שָׁ֚ב turned šûb אֶת ʾēt שְׁב֣יּת the captivity šĕbût אִיּ֔וֹב of Job, ʾiyyôb בְּהִֽתְפַּֽלְל֖וֹ when he prayed pālal בְּעַ֣ד for bĕʿad רֵעֵ֑הוּ his friends: rēaʿ וַ֧יֹּסֶף gave yāsap יְהוָ֛ה also the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶת ʾēt כָּל as much as he had before. kōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר ʾăšer לְאִיּ֖וֹב Job ʾiyyôb לְמִשְׁנֶֽה׃ twice mišne

וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ Then came bôʾ אֵ֠לָיו there unto ʾēl כָּל him all kōl אֶחָ֨יו his brethren, ʾāḥ וְכָל and all kōl אַחְיֹתָ֜יו his sisters, ʾāḥôt וְכָל and all kōl יֹדְעָ֣יו they that had been of his acquaintance yādaʿ לְפָנִ֗ים before, pānîm וַיֹּאכְל֨וּ and did eat ʾākal עִמּ֣וֹ with ʿim לֶחֶם֮ bread leḥem בְּבֵיתוֹ֒ him in his house: bayit וַיָּנֻ֤דוּ and they bemoaned nûd לוֹ֙ וַיְנַחֲמ֣וּ him, and comforted nāḥam אֹת֔וֹ ʾēt עַ֚ל him over ʿal כָּל all kōl הָ֣רָעָ֔ה the evil raʿ אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer הֵבִ֥יא had brought bôʾ יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ עָלָ֑יו upon ʿal וַיִּתְּנוּ also gave nātan ל֗וֹ אִ֚ישׁ him: every man ʾîš קְשִׂיטָ֣ה piece of money, qĕśîṭâ אֶחָ֔ת him a ʾeḥād וְאִ֕ישׁ and every one ʾîš נֶ֥זֶם earring nezem זָהָ֖ב of gold. zāhāb אֶחָֽד׃ an ʾeḥād

וַֽיהוָ֗ה So the Lord yĕhōwâ בֵּרַ֛ךְ blessed bārak אֶת ʾēt אַחֲרִ֥ית the latter end ʾaḥărît אִיּ֖וֹב of Job ʾiyyôb מֵרֵאשִׁת֑וֹ more than his beginning: rēʾšît וַֽיְהִי for he had hāyâ ל֡וֹ אַרְבָּעָה֩ fourteen ʾarbaʿ עָשָׂ֨ר ʿāśār אֶ֜לֶף thousand ʾelep צֹ֗אן sheep, ṣōn וְשֵׁ֤שֶׁת and six šēš אֲלָפִים֙ thousand ʾelep גְּמַלִּ֔ים camels, gāmāl וְאֶֽלֶף and a thousand ʾelep צֶ֥מֶד yoke ṣemed בָּקָ֖ר of oxen, bāqār וְאֶ֥לֶף and a thousand ʾelep אֲתוֹנֽוֹת׃ she asses. ʾātôn

וַֽיְהִי He had hāyâ ל֛וֹ שִׁבְעָ֥נָה also seven šibʿānâ בָנִ֖ים sons bēn וְשָׁל֥וֹשׁ and three šālôš בָּנֽוֹת׃ daughters. bat

וַיִּקְרָ֤א And he called qārāʾ שֵׁם the name šēm הָֽאַחַת֙ of the first, ʾeḥād יְמִימָ֔ה Jemima; yĕmîmâ וְשֵׁ֥ם and the name šēm הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית of the second, šēnî קְצִיעָ֑ה Kezia; qĕṣîʿâ וְשֵׁ֥ם and the name šēm הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֖ית of the third, šĕlîšî קֶ֥רֶן הַפּֽוּךְ׃ Keren-happuch. qeren happûk

וְלֹ֨א were no lōʾ נִמְצָ֜א found māṣāʾ נָשִׁ֥ים women ʾiššâ יָפ֛וֹת fair yāpe כִּבְנ֥וֹת as the daughters bat אִיּ֖וֹב of Job: ʾiyyôb בְּכָל And in all kōl הָאָ֑רֶץ the land ʾereṣ וַיִּתֵּ֨ן gave nātan לָהֶ֧ם hēm אֲבִיהֶ֛ם and their father ʾāb נַחֲלָ֖ה them inheritance naḥălâ בְּת֥וֹךְ among tāwek אֲחֵיהֶֽם׃ their brethren. ʾāḥ

וַיְחִ֤י lived ḥāyâ אִיּוֹב֙ Job ʾiyyôb אַֽחֲרֵי After ʾaḥar זֹ֔את this zōt מֵאָ֥ה an hundred mēʾâ וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים and forty ʾarbāʿîm שָׁנָ֑ה years, šāne וַיִּרְאֶ֗ and saw rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt בָּנָיו֙ his sons, bēn וְאֶת and ʾēt בְּנֵ֣י his sons' bēn בָנָ֔יו sons, bēn אַרְבָּעָ֖ה four ʾarbaʿ דֹּרֽוֹת׃ generations. dôr

וַיָּ֣מָת died, mût אִיּ֔וֹב So Job ʾiyyôb זָקֵ֖ן old zāqēn וּשְׂבַ֥ע and full śābēaʿ יָמִֽים׃ of days. yôm
