  1. וַיַּ֥עַן answered ʿānâ אֱלִיה֗וּא Furthermore Elihu ʾĕlîhû וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ and said, ʾāmar
  2. שִׁמְע֣וּ Hear šāmaʿ חֲכָמִ֣ים O ye wise ḥākām מִלָּ֑י my words, millâ וְ֝יֹדְעִ֗ים unto me, ye that have knowledge. yādaʿ הַאֲזִ֥ינוּ and give ear ʾāzan לִֽי׃
  3. כִּי For אֹ֭זֶן the ear ʾōzen מִלִּ֣ין words, millâ תִּבְחָ֑ן trieth bāḥan וְ֝חֵ֗ךְ as the mouth ḥēk יִטְעַ֥ם tasteth ṭāʿam לֶאֱכֹֽל׃ meat. ʾākal
  4. מִשְׁפָּ֥ט to us judgment: mišpāṭ נִבְחֲרָה Let us choose bāḥar לָּ֑נוּ נֵדְעָ֖ה let us know yādaʿ בֵינֵ֣ינוּ among bên מַה ourselves what טּֽוֹב׃ good. ṭôb
  5. כִּֽי For אָ֭מַר hath said, ʾāmar אִיּ֣וֹב Job ʾiyyôb צָדַ֑קְתִּי I am righteous: ṣādaq וְ֝אֵ֗ל and God ʾēl הֵסִ֥יר hath taken away sûr מִשְׁפָּטִֽי׃ my judgment. mišpāṭ
  6. עַל against ʿal מִשְׁפָּטִ֥י my right? mišpāṭ אֲכַזֵּ֑ב Should I lie kāzab אָנ֖וּשׁ incurable ʾānaš חִצִּ֣י my wound ḥēṣ בְלִי without bĕlî פָֽשַׁע׃ transgression. pešaʿ
  7. מִי What גֶ֥בֶר man geber כְּאִיּ֑וֹב like Job, ʾiyyôb יִֽשְׁתֶּה drinketh up šātâ לַּ֥עַג scorning laʿag כַּמָּֽיִם׃ like water? mayim
  8. וְאָרַ֣ח Which goeth ʾāraḥ לְ֭חֶבְרָה in company ḥebrâ עִם with ʿim פֹּ֣עֲלֵי the workers pāʿal אָ֑וֶן of iniquity, ʾāwen וְ֝לָלֶ֗כֶת and walketh hālak עִם with ʿim אַנְשֵׁי men. ʾîš רֶֽשַׁע׃ wicked rešaʿ
  9. כִּֽי For אָ֭מַר he hath said, ʾāmar לֹ֣א nothing lōʾ יִסְכָּן It profiteth sākan גָּ֑בֶר a man geber בִּ֝רְצֹת֗וֹ that he should delight rāṣâ עִם himself with ʿim אֱלֹהִֽים׃ God. ʾĕlōhîm
  10. לָכֵ֤ן׀ Therefore kēn אַ֥נֲשֵׁ֥י unto me, ye men ʾîš לֵבָ֗ב of understanding: lēbāb שִׁמְע֫וּ hearken šāmaʿ לִ֥י חָלִ֖לָה far be it ḥālîlâ לָאֵ֥ל from God, ʾēl מֵרֶ֗שַׁע wickedness; rešaʿ וְשַׁדַּ֥י and the Almighty, šadday מֵעָֽוֶל׃ iniquity. ʿewel
  11. כִּ֤י For פֹ֣עַל the work pōʿal אָ֭דָם of a man ʾādām יְשַׁלֶּם shall he render šālam ל֑וֹ וּֽכְאֹ֥רַח according to ways. ʾōraḥ אִ֝֗ישׁ unto him, and cause every man ʾîš יַמְצִאֶֽנּוּ׃ to find māṣāʾ
  12. אַף Yea, ʾap אָמְנָ֗ם surely ʾomnām אֵ֥ל God ʾēl לֹֽא will not lōʾ יַרְשִׁ֑יעַ do wickedly, rāšaʿ וְ֝שַׁדַּ֗י will the Almighty šadday לֹֽא neither lōʾ יְעַוֵּ֥ת pervert ʿāwat מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ judgment. mišpāṭ
  13. מִֽי Who פָקַ֣ד hath given him a charge pāqad עָלָ֣יו ʿal אָ֑רְצָה over the earth? ʾereṣ וּמִ֥י or who שָׂ֝֗ם hath disposed śûm תֵּבֵ֥ל world? tēbēl כֻּלָּֽהּ׃ the whole kōl
  14. אִם If ʾim יָשִׂ֣ים he set śûm אֵלָ֣יו upon ʾēl לִבּ֑וֹ his heart lēb רוּח֥וֹ himself his spirit rûaḥ וְ֝נִשְׁמָת֗וֹ and his breath; nĕšāmâ אֵלָ֥יו unto ʾēl יֶאֱסֹֽף׃ man, he gather ʾāsap
  15. יִגְוַ֣ע shall perish gāwaʿ כָּל All kōl בָּשָׂ֣ר flesh bāśār יָ֑חַד together, yaḥad וְ֝אָדָ֗ם and man ʾādām עַל unto ʿal עָפָ֥ר dust. ʿāpār יָשֽׁוּב׃ shall turn again šûb
  16. וְאִם If ʾim בִּ֥ינָה now understanding, bînâ שִׁמְעָה hear šāmaʿ זֹּ֑את this: zōt הַ֝אֲזִ֗ינָה hearken ʾāzan לְק֣וֹל to the voice qôl מִלָּֽי׃ of my words. millâ
  17. הַאַ֬ף Shall even ʾap שׂוֹנֵ֣א he that hateth śānēʾ מִשְׁפָּ֣ט right mišpāṭ יַחֲב֑וֹשׁ govern? ḥābaš וְאִם ʾim צַדִּ֖יק just? ṣaddîq כַּבִּ֣יר him that is most kabbîr תַּרְשִֽׁיעַ׃ and wilt thou condemn rāšaʿ
  18. הַאֲמֹ֣ר to say ʾāmar לְמֶ֣לֶךְ to a king, melek בְּלִיָּ֑עַל wicked? bĕliyyaʿal רָ֝שָׁ֗ע ungodly? rāšāʿ אֶל to ʾēl נְדִיבִֽים׃ princes, nādîb
  19. אֲשֶׁ֤ר that ʾăšer לֹֽא not lōʾ נָשָׂ֨א׀ accepteth nāśāʾ פְּנֵ֥י the persons pānîm שָׂרִ֗ים of princes, śar וְלֹ֣א nor lōʾ נִכַּר regardeth nākar שׁ֭וֹעַ the rich šôaʿ לִפְנֵי more than pānîm דָ֑ל the poor? dal כִּֽי for מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה the work maʿăśe יָדָ֣יו of his hands. yād כֻּלָּֽם׃ they all kōl
  20. רֶ֤גַע׀ In a moment regaʿ יָמֻתוּ֮ shall they die, mût וַחֲצ֪וֹת at midnight, ḥāṣôt לָ֥יְלָה layil יְגֹעֲשׁ֣וּ shall be troubled gāʿaš עָ֣ם and the people ʿam וְיַעֲבֹ֑רוּ and pass away: ʿābar וְיָסִ֥ירוּ shall be taken away sûr אַ֝בִּ֗יר and the mighty ʾabbîr לֹ֣א without lōʾ בְיָֽד׃ hand. yād
  21. כִּי For עֵ֭ינָיו his eyes ʿayin עַל upon ʿal דַּרְכֵי the ways derek אִ֑ישׁ of man, ʾîš וְֽכָל all kōl צְעָדָ֥יו his goings. ṣaʿad יִרְאֶֽה׃ and he seeth rāʾâ
  22. אֵֽין no ʾayin חֹ֭שֶׁךְ darkness, ḥōšek וְאֵ֣ין nor ʾayin צַלְמָ֑וֶת shadow of death, ṣalmāwet לְהִסָּ֥תֶר may hide themselves. sātar שָׁ֝֗ם where šām פֹּ֣עֲלֵי the workers pāʿal אָֽוֶן׃ of iniquity ʾāwen
  23. כִּ֤י For לֹ֣א he will not lōʾ עַל upon ʿal אִ֭ישׁ man ʾîš יָשִׂ֣ים lay śûm ע֑וֹד more ʿôd לַהֲלֹ֥ךְ that he should enter hālak אֶל with ʾēl אֵ֝֗ל God. ʾēl בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ into judgment mišpāṭ
  24. יָרֹ֣עַ He shall break in pieces rāʿaʿ כַּבִּירִ֣ים mighty men kabbîr לֹא without lōʾ חֵ֑קֶר number, ḥēqer וַיַּעֲמֵ֖ד and set ʿāmad אֲחֵרִ֣ים others ʾaḥēr תַּחְתָּֽם׃ in their stead. taḥat
  25. לָכֵ֗ן Therefore kēn יַ֭כִּיר he knoweth nākar מַעְבָּֽדֵיהֶ֑ם their works, maʿbād וְהָ֥פַךְ and he overturneth hāpak לַ֝֗יְלָה in the night, layil וְיִדַּכָּֽאוּ׃ so that they are destroyed. dākāʾ
  26. תַּֽחַת them as taḥat רְשָׁעִ֥ים wicked men rāšāʿ סְפָקָ֗ם He striketh sāpaq בִּמְק֥וֹם in the open māqôm רֹאִֽים׃ sight of others; rāʾâ
  27. אֲשֶׁ֣ר Because ʾăšer עַל ʿal כֵּ֭ן kēn סָ֣רוּ they turned back sûr מֵֽאַחֲרָ֑יו from ʾaḥar וְכָל any kōl דְּ֝רָכָ֗יו of his ways: derek לֹ֣א him, and would not lōʾ הִשְׂכִּֽילוּ׃ consider śākal
  28. לְהָבִ֣יא to come bôʾ עָ֭לָיו unto ʿal צַֽעֲקַת So that they cause the cry ṣaʿăqâ דָּ֑ל of the poor dal וְצַעֲקַ֖ת the cry ṣaʿăqâ עֲנִיִּ֣ים of the afflicted. ʿānî יִשְׁמָֽע׃ him, and he heareth šāmaʿ
  29. וְה֤וּא When he hûʾ יַשְׁקִ֨ט׀ giveth quietness, šāqaṭ וּמִ֥י who יַרְשִׁ֗עַ then can make trouble? rāšaʿ וְיַסְתֵּ֣ר and when he hideth sātar פָּ֭נִים face, pānîm וּמִ֣י who יְשׁוּרֶ֑נּוּ then can behold šûr וְעַל him? whether against ʿal גּ֖וֹי a nation, gôy וְעַל or against ʿal אָדָ֣ם a man ʾādām יָֽחַד׃ only: yaḥad
  30. מִ֭מְּלֹךְ reign mālak אָדָ֥ם That the hypocrite ʾādām חָנֵ֗ף ḥānēp מִמֹּ֥קְשֵׁי be ensnared. môqēš עָֽם׃ not, lest the people ʿam
  31. כִּֽי Surely it is meet אֶל unto ʾēl אֵ֭ל God, ʾēl הֶאָמַ֥ר to be said ʾāmar נָשָׂ֗אתִי I have borne nāśāʾ לֹ֣א I will not lōʾ אֶחְבֹּֽל׃ offend ḥābal
  32. בִּלְעֲדֵ֣י not bilʿădê אֶ֭חֱזֶה I see ḥāzâ אַתָּ֣ה thou ʾattâ הֹרֵ֑נִי teach yārâ אִֽם me: if ʾim עָ֥וֶל iniquity, ʿewel פָּ֝עַ֗לְתִּי I have done pāʿal לֹ֣א no more. lōʾ אֹסִֽיף׃ I will do yāsap
  33. הֲֽמֵעִמְּךָ֬ according to thy mind? ʿim יְשַׁלְמֶ֨נָּה׀ he will recompense šālam כִּֽי it, whether מָאַ֗סְתָּ thou refuse, māʾas כִּי or whether אַתָּ֣ה thou ʾattâ תִבְחַ֣ר choose; bāḥar וְלֹא and not lōʾ אָ֑נִי I: ʾănî וּֽמַה what יָדַ֥עְתָּ thou knowest. yādaʿ דַבֵּֽר׃ therefore speak dābar
  34. אַנְשֵׁ֣י Let men ʾĕnôš לֵ֭בָב of understanding lēbāb יֹ֣אמְרוּ tell ʾāmar לִ֑י וְגֶ֥בֶר man geber חָ֝כָ֗ם me, and let a wise ḥākām שֹׁמֵ֥עַֽ hearken unto me. šāmaʿ לִֽי׃
  35. אִ֭יּוֹב Job ʾiyyôb לֹא without lōʾ בְדַ֣עַת knowledge, daʿat יְדַבֵּ֑ר hath spoken dābar וּ֝דְבָרָ֗יו and his words dābār לֹ֣א without lōʾ בְהַשְׂכֵּֽיל׃ wisdom. śākal
  36. אָבִ֗י My desire ʾābe יִבָּחֵ֣ן may be tried bāḥan אִיּ֣וֹב Job ʾiyyôb עַד unto ʿad נֶ֑צַח the end neṣaḥ עַל because ʿal תְּ֝שֻׁבֹ֗ת of answers tĕšûbâ בְּאַנְשֵׁי men. ʾîš אָֽוֶן׃ for wicked ʾāwen
  37. כִּ֥י For יֹ֘סִ֤יף he addeth yāsap עַֽל unto ʿal חַטָּאת֣וֹ his sin, ḥaṭṭāʾâ פֶ֭שַׁע rebellion pešaʿ בֵּינֵ֣ינוּ among bên יִסְפּ֑וֹק he clappeth sāpaq וְיֶ֖רֶב us, and multiplieth rābâ אֲמָרָ֣יו his words ʾēmer לָאֵֽל׃ against God. ʾēl
