הַחֵ֣פֶץ any pleasure ḥēpeṣ לְ֭שַׁדַּי to the Almighty, šadday כִּ֣י that kî תִצְדָּ֑ק thou art righteous? ṣādaq וְאִם or ʾim בֶּ֝֗צַע gain beṣaʿ כִּֽי that kî תַתֵּ֥ם perfect? tāmam דְּרָכֶֽיךָ׃ thou makest thy ways derek

הֲֽ֭מִיִּרְאָ֣תְךָ thee for fear yirʾâ יֹכִיחֶ֑ךָ Will he reprove yākaḥ יָב֥וֹא of thee? will he enter bôʾ עִ֝מְּךָ֗ with ʿim בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ thee into judgment? mišpāṭ

הֲלֹ֣א not lōʾ רָעָֽתְךָ֣ thy wickedness raʿ רַבָּ֑ה great? rab וְאֵֽין ʾayin קֵ֝֗ץ infinite? qēṣ לַעֲוֺנֹתֶֽיךָ׃ and thine iniquities ʿāwōn

כִּֽי For kî תַחְבֹּ֣ל thou hast taken a pledge ḥābal אַחֶ֣יךָ from thy brother ʾāḥ חִנָּ֑ם for nought, ḥinnām וּבִגְדֵ֖י of their clothing. beged עֲרוּמִּ֣ים the naked ʿārôm תַּפְשִֽׁיט׃ and stripped pāšaṭ

לֹא Thou hast not lōʾ מַ֭יִם given water mayim עָיֵ֣ף to the weary ʿāyēp תַּשְׁקֶ֑ה to drink, šāqâ וּ֝מֵרָעֵ֗ב from the hungry. rāʿēb תִּֽמְנַֽע and thou hast withholden mānaʿ לָֽחֶם׃ bread leḥem

אַ֭לְמָנוֹת widows ʾalmānâ שִׁלַּ֣חְתָּ Thou hast sent šālaḥ רֵיקָ֑ם away empty, rêqām וּזְרֹע֖וֹת and the arms zĕrôaʿ יְתֹמִ֣ים of the fatherless yātôm יְדֻכָּֽא׃ have been broken. dākāʾ

עַל Therefore ʿal כֵּ֭ן kēn סְבִיבוֹתֶ֣יךָ round about sābîb פַחִ֑ים snares paḥ וִֽ֝יבַהֶלְךָ troubleth thee; bāhal פַּ֣חַד fear paḥad פִּתְאֹֽם׃ thee, and sudden pitʾôm

אוֹ Or ʾô חֹ֥שֶׁךְ darkness, ḥōšek לֹֽא thou canst not lōʾ תִרְאֶ֑ה see; rāʾâ וְֽשִׁפְעַת and abundance šipʿâ מַ֥יִם of waters mayim תְּכַסֶּֽךָּ׃ cover thee. kāsâ

וְֽ֭אָמַרְתָּ And thou sayest, ʾāmar מַה How mâ יָּ֣דַֽע know? yādaʿ אֵ֑ל doth God ʾēl הַבְעַ֖ד through bĕʿad עֲרָפֶ֣ל the dark cloud? ʿărāpel יִשְׁפּֽוֹט׃ can he judge šāpaṭ

עָבִ֣ים Thick clouds ʿāb סֵֽתֶר a covering sēter ל֭וֹ וְלֹ֣א not; lōʾ יִרְאֶ֑ה to him, that he seeth rāʾâ וְח֥וּג in the circuit ḥûg שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם of heaven. šāmayim יִתְהַלָּֽךְ׃ and he walketh hālak

הָאֹמְרִ֣ים Which said ʾāmar לָ֭אֵל unto God, ʾēl ס֣וּר Depart sûr מִמֶּ֑נּוּ from min וּמַה us: and what mâ יִּפְעַ֖ל do for them? pāʿal שַׁדַּ֣י can the Almighty šadday לָֽמוֹ׃

וְה֤וּא Yet he hûʾ מִלֵּ֣א filled mālēʾ בָתֵּיהֶ֣ם their houses bayit ט֑וֹב with good ṭôb וַעֲצַ֥ת but the counsel ʿēṣâ רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים of the wicked rāšāʿ רָ֣חֲקָה is far rāḥaq מֶֽנִּי׃ from me. min

יִרְא֣וּ see rāʾâ צַדִּיקִ֣ים The righteous ṣaddîq וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ and are glad: śāmaḥ וְ֝נָקִ֗י and the innocent nāqî יִלְעַג laugh them to scorn. lāʿag לָֽמוֹ׃

קַח Receive, lāqaḥ נָ֣א I pray thee, nāʾ מִפִּ֣יו from his mouth, pe תּוֹרָ֑ה the law tôrâ וְשִׂ֥ים and lay up śûm אֲ֝מָרָ֗יו his words ʾēmer בִּלְבָבֶֽךָ׃ in thine heart. lēbāb

אִם If ʾim תָּשׁ֣וּב thou return šûb עַד to ʿad שַׁ֭דַּי the Almighty, šadday תִּבָּנֶ֑ה thou shalt be built up, bānâ תַּרְחִ֥יק thou shalt put away rāḥaq עַ֝וְלָ֗ה iniquity ʿewel מֵאָהֳלֶֽךָ׃ far from thy tabernacles. ʾōhel
-
וְהָיָ֣ה shall be hāyâ שַׁדַּ֣י Yea, the Almighty šadday בְּצָרֶ֑יךָ thy defence, beṣer וְכֶ֖סֶף of silver. kesep תּוֹעָפ֣וֹת and thou shalt have plenty tôʿāpâ לָֽךְ׃

כִּי For kî אָ֭ז then ʾāz עַל in ʿal שַׁדַּ֣י the Almighty, šadday תִּתְעַנָּ֑ג shalt thou have thy delight ʿānag וְתִשָּׂ֖א and shalt lift up nāśāʾ אֶל unto ʾēl אֱל֣וֹהַּ God. ʾĕlôah פָּנֶֽיךָ׃ thy face pānîm

תַּעְתִּ֣יר Thou shalt make thy prayer ʿātar אֵ֭לָיו unto ʾēl וְיִשְׁמָעֶ֑ךָּ him, and he shall hear šāmaʿ וּנְדָרֶ֥יךָ thy vows. neder תְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ thee, and thou shalt pay šālam

וְֽתִגְזַר Thou shalt also decree gāzar אֹ֭מֶר a thing, ʾōmer וְיָ֣קָם and it shall be established qûm לָ֑ךְ וְעַל upon ʿal דְּ֝רָכֶ֗יךָ thy ways. derek נָ֣גַֽהּ shall shine nāgah אֽוֹר׃ unto thee: and the light ʾôr

כִּֽי When kî הִ֭שְׁפִּילוּ are cast down, šāpēl וַתֹּ֣אמֶר then thou shalt say, ʾāmar גֵּוָ֑ה lifting up; gēwâ וְשַׁ֖ח the humble šaḥ עֵינַ֣יִם person. ʿayin יוֹשִֽׁעַ׃ and he shall save yāšaʿ

יְֽמַלֵּ֥ט He shall deliver mālaṭ אִֽי the island ʾî נָקִ֑י of the innocent: nāqî וְ֝נִמְלַ֗ט and it is delivered mālaṭ בְּבֹ֣ר by the pureness bōr כַּפֶּֽיךָ׃ of thine hands. kap
