கர்த்தர் சாத்தானை நோக்கி: இதோ, அவனுக்கு உண்டானவையெல்லாம் உன் கையிலிருக்கிறது; அவன்மேல்மாத்திரம் உன் கையை நீட்டாதே என்றார்; அப்பொழுது சாத்தான் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்.

கர்த்தர் சாத்தானிடம், “அப்படியே ஆகட்டும். யோபுக்குச் சொந்தமான பொருள்களின் மேல் உன் விருப்பப்படி எது வேண்டுமானாலும் செய். ஆனால் அவன் உடம்மைத் துன்புறுத்தாதே” என்றார். பின்பு சாத்தான் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியை விட்டுச் சென்றுவிட்டான்.
