  1. בָּעֵ֣ת time, ʿēt הַהִ֣יא At that hûʾ נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֡ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ ויֹצִ֣יאוּ they shall bring out yāṣāʾ אֶת ʾēt עַצְמ֣וֹת the bones ʿeṣem מַלְכֵֽי of the kings melek יְהוּדָ֣ה of Judah, yĕhûdâ וְאֶת ʾēt עַצְמוֹת and the bones ʿeṣem שָׂרָיו֩ of his princes, śar וְאֶת ʾēt עַצְמ֨וֹת and the bones ʿeṣem הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים of the priests, kōhēn וְאֵ֣ת׀ ʾēt עַצְמ֣וֹת and the bones ʿeṣem הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים of the prophets, nābîʾ וְאֵ֛ת ʾēt עַצְמ֥וֹת and the bones ʿeṣem יוֹשְׁבֵֽי of the inhabitants yāšab יְרוּשָׁלִָ֖ם of Jerusalem, yĕrûšālaim מִקִּבְרֵיהֶֽם׃ out of their graves: qeber
  2. וּשְׁטָחוּם֩ And they shall spread šāṭaḥ לַשֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ them before the sun, šemeš וְלַיָּרֵ֜חַ and the moon, yārēaḥ וּלְכֹ֣ל׀ and all kōl צְבָ֣א the host ṣābāʾ הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם of heaven, šāmayim אֲשֶׁ֨ר whom ʾăšer אֲהֵב֜וּם they have loved, ʾāhab וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר and whom ʾăšer עֲבָדוּם֙ they have served, ʿābad וַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ whom ʾăšer הָלְכ֣וּ they have walked, hālak אַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֔ם and after ʾaḥar וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר and whom ʾăšer דְּרָשׁ֔וּם they have sought, dāraš וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר and whom ʾăšer הִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ they have worshipped: šāḥâ לָהֶ֑ם לֹ֤א they shall not lōʾ יֵאָֽסְפוּ֙ be gathered, ʾāsap וְלֹ֣א nor lōʾ יִקָּבֵ֔רוּ be buried; qābar לְדֹ֛מֶן for dung dōmen עַל upon ʿal פְּנֵ֥י the face pānîm הָאֲדָמָ֖ה of the earth. ʾădāmâ יִֽהְיֽוּ׃ they shall be hāyâ
  3. וְנִבְחַ֥ר shall be chosen bāḥar מָ֙וֶת֙ And death māwet מֵֽחַיִּי֔ם rather than life ḥay לְכֹ֗ל by all kōl הַשְּׁאֵרִית֙ the residue šĕʾērît הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֔ים of them that remain šāʾar מִן of min הַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֥ה family, mišpāḥâ הָֽרָעָ֖ה evil raʿ הַזֹּ֑את this zōt בְּכָל in all kōl הַמְּקֹמ֤וֹת the places māqôm הַנִּשְׁאָרִים֙ which remain šāʾar אֲשֶׁ֣ר whither ʾăšer הִדַּחְתִּ֣ים I have driven nādaḥ שָׁ֔ם šām נְאֻ֖ם them, saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָאֽוֹת׃ of hosts. ṣābāʾ
  4. וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ Moreover thou shalt say ʾāmar אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם unto ʾēl כֹּ֚ה them, Thus אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ הֲיִפְּל֖וּ Shall they fall, nāpal וְלֹ֣א and not lōʾ יָק֑וּמוּ arise? qûm אִם ʾim יָשׁ֖וּב shall he turn away, šûb וְלֹ֥א and not lōʾ יָשֽׁוּב׃ return? šûb
  5. מַדּ֨וּעַ Why maddûaʿ שׁוֹבְבָ֜ה slidden back šûb הָעָ֥ם people ʿam הַזֶּ֛ה is this ze יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם of Jerusalem yĕrûšālaim מְשֻׁבָ֣ה backsliding? mĕšûbâ נִצַּ֑חַת by a perpetual nāṣaḥ הֶחֱזִ֙יקוּ֙ they hold fast ḥāzaq בַּתַּרְמִ֔ית deceit, tormâ מֵאֲנ֖וּ they refuse māʾēn לָשֽׁוּב׃ to return. šûb
  6. הִקְשַׁ֤בְתִּי I hearkened qāšab וָֽאֶשְׁמָע֙ and heard, šāmaʿ לוֹא not lōʾ כֵ֣ן kēn יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ they spake aright: dābar אֵ֣ין no ʾayin אִ֗ישׁ man ʾîš נִחָם֙ repented nāḥam עַל him of ʿal רָ֣עָת֔וֹ his wickedness, raʿ לֵאמֹ֖ר saying, ʾāmar מֶ֣ה What עָשִׂ֑יתִי have I done? ʿāśâ כֻּלֹּ֗ה every one kōl שָׁ֚ב turned šûb בִּמְר֣צּוָתָ֔ם to his course, mĕrûṣâ כְּס֥וּס as the horse sûs שׁוֹטֵ֖ף rusheth šāṭap בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ into the battle. milḥāmâ
  7. גַּם Yea, gam חֲסִידָ֣ה the stork ḥăsîdâ בַשָּׁמַ֗יִם in the heaven šāmayim יָֽדְעָה֙ knoweth yādaʿ מֽוֹעֲדֶ֔יהָ her appointed times; môʿēd וְתֹ֤ר and the turtle tôr וְסִוס֙ and the crane sûs וְעָג֔וּר and the swallow ʿāgûr שָׁמְר֖וּ observe šāmar אֶת ʾēt עֵ֣ת the time ʿēt בֹּאָ֑נָה of their coming; bôʾ וְעַמִּ֕י but my people ʿam לֹ֣א not lōʾ יָֽדְע֔וּ know yādaʿ אֵ֖ת ʾēt מִשְׁפַּ֥ט the judgment mišpāṭ יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  8. אֵיכָ֤ה How ʾêk תֹֽאמְרוּ֙ do ye say, ʾāmar חֲכָמִ֣ים wise, ḥākām אֲנַ֔חְנוּ We ʾănaḥnû וְתוֹרַ֥ת and the law tôrâ יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אִתָּ֑נוּ with ʾēt אָכֵן֙ certainly ʾākēn הִנֵּ֣ה us? Lo, hinnē לַשֶּׁ֣קֶר in vain šeqer עָשָׂ֔ה made ʿāśâ עֵ֖ט he the pen ʿēṭ שֶׁ֥קֶר in vain. šeqer סֹפְרִֽים׃ of the scribes sāpar
  9. הֹבִ֣ישׁוּ are ashamed, bûš חֲכָמִ֔ים The wise ḥākām חַ֖תּוּ they are dismayed ḥātat וַיִּלָּכֵ֑דוּ and taken: lākad הִנֵּ֤ה lo, hinnē בִדְבַר the word dābār יְהוָה֙ of the Lord; yĕhōwâ מָאָ֔סוּ they have rejected māʾas וְחָכְמַ֥ת wisdom in them? ḥokmâ מֶ֖ה and what לָהֶֽם׃
  10. לָכֵן֩ Therefore kēn אֶתֵּ֨ן will I give nātan אֶת ʾēt נְשֵׁיהֶ֜ם their wives ʾiššâ לַאֲחֵרִ֗ים unto others, ʾaḥēr שְׂדֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ their fields śāde לְי֣וֹרְשִׁ֔ים to them that shall inherit yāraš כִּ֤י for מִקָּטֹן֙ from the least qāṭān וְעַד even unto ʿad גָּד֔וֹל the greatest gādôl כֻּלֹּ֖ה every one kōl בֹּצֵ֣עַ is given bāṣaʿ בָּ֑צַע to covetousness, beṣaʿ מִנָּבִיא֙ from the prophet nābîʾ וְעַד even unto ʿad כֹּהֵ֔ן the priest kōhēn כֻּלֹּ֖ה every one kōl עֹ֥שֶׂה dealeth ʿāśâ שָּֽׁקֶר׃ falsely. šeqer
  11. וַיְרַפּ֞וּ For they have healed rāpāʾ אֶת ʾēt שֶׁ֤בֶר the hurt šeber בַּת of the daughter bat עַמִּי֙ of my people ʿam עַל ʿal נְקַלָּ֔ה slightly, qālal לֵאמֹ֖ר saying, ʾāmar שָׁל֣וֹם׀ Peace, šālôm שָׁל֑וֹם peace; šālôm וְאֵ֖ין when no ʾayin שָׁלֽוֹם׃ peace. šālôm
  12. הֹבִ֕שׁוּ Were they ashamed yābēš כִּ֥י when תוֹעֵבָ֖ה abomination? tôʿēba עָשׂ֑וּ they had committed ʿāśâ גַּם nay, gam בּ֣וֹשׁ at all bûš לֹֽא they were not lōʾ יֵבֹ֗שׁוּ ashamed, bûš וְהִכָּלֵם֙ they blush: kālam לֹ֣א neither lōʾ יָדָ֔עוּ could yādaʿ לָכֵ֞ן therefore kēn יִפְּל֣וּ shall they fall nāpal בַנֹּפְלִ֗ים among them that fall: nāpal בְּעֵ֧ת in the time ʿēt פְּקֻדָּתָ֛ם of their visitation pĕquddâ יִכָּשְׁל֖וּ they shall be cast down, kāšal אָמַ֥ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  13. אָסֹ֥ף I will surely ʾāsap אֲסִיפֵ֖ם consume sûp נְאֻם them, saith nĕʾum יְהוָֹ֑ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ אֵין֩ no ʾayin עֲנָבִ֨ים grapes ʿēnāb בַּגֶּ֜פֶן on the vine, gepen וְאֵ֧ין nor ʾayin תְּאֵנִ֣ים figs tĕʾēn בַּתְּאֵנָ֗ה on the fig tree, tĕʾēn וְהֶֽעָלֶה֙ and the leaf ʿāle נָבֵ֔ל shall fade; nābēl וָאֶתֵּ֥ן and I have given nātan לָהֶ֖ם hēm יַעַבְרֽוּם׃ them shall pass away from them. ʿābar
  14. עַל ʿal מָה֙ Why אֲנַ֣חְנוּ do we ʾănaḥnû יֹֽשְׁבִ֔ים sit still? yāšab הֵֽאָסְפ֗וּ assemble yourselves, ʾāsap וְנָב֛וֹא and let us enter bôʾ אֶל into ʾēl עָרֵ֥י cities, ʿîr הַמִּבְצָ֖ר the defenced mibṣār וְנִדְּמָה and let us be silent dāmam שָּׁ֑ם there: šām כִּי֩ for יְהוָ֨ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֤ינוּ our God ʾĕlōhîm הֲדִמָּ֙נוּ֙ hath put us to silence, dāmam וַיַּשְׁקֵ֣נוּ to drink, šāqâ מֵי and given us water mayim רֹ֔אשׁ of gall rōš כִּ֥י because חָטָ֖אנוּ we have sinned ḥāṭāʾ לַיהוָֽה׃ against the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  15. קַוֵּ֥ה We looked qāwâ לְשָׁל֖וֹם for peace, šālôm וְאֵ֣ין but no ʾayin ט֑וֹב good ṭôb לְעֵ֥ת for a time ʿēt מַרְפֵּ֖ה of health, marpēʾ וְהִנֵּ֥ה and behold hinnē בְעָתָֽה׃ trouble! bĕʿātâ
  16. מִדָּ֤ן from Dan: dān נִשְׁמַע֙ was heard šāmaʿ נַחְרַ֣ת The snorting naḥar סוּסָ֗יו of his horses sûs מִקּוֹל֙ at the sound qôl מִצְהֲל֣וֹת of the neighing maṣhālâ אַבִּירָ֔יו of his strong ones; ʾabbîr רָעֲשָׁ֖ה trembled rāʿaš כָּל the whole kōl הָאָ֑רֶץ land ʾereṣ וַיָּב֗וֹאוּ for they are come, bôʾ וַיֹּֽאכְלוּ֙ and have devoured ʾākal אֶ֣רֶץ the land, ʾereṣ וּמְלוֹאָ֔הּ and all mĕlōʾ עִ֖יר that is in it; the city, ʿîr וְיֹ֥שְׁבֵי and those that dwell therein. yāšab בָֽהּ׃
  17. כִּי֩ For, הִנְנִ֨י behold, hēn מְשַׁלֵּ֜חַ I will send šālaḥ בָּכֶ֗ם נְחָשִׁים֙ serpents, nāḥoš צִפְעֹנִ֔ים cockatrices, ṣepaʿ אֲשֶׁ֥ר among you, which ʾăšer אֵין not ʾayin לָהֶ֖ם לָ֑חַשׁ charmed, laḥaš וְנִשְּׁכ֥וּ and they shall bite nāšak אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt נְאֻם you, saith nĕʾum יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  18. מַבְלִ֥יגִיתִ֖י I would comfort mablîgît עֲלֵ֣י myself against ʿal יָג֑וֹן sorrow, yāgôn עָלַ֖י in me. ʿal לִבִּ֥י my heart lēb דַוָּֽי׃ faint dawwāy
  19. הִנֵּה Behold hinnē ק֞וֹל the voice qôl שַֽׁוְעַ֣ת of the cry šawʿâ בַּת of the daughter bat עַמִּ֗י of my people ʿam מֵאֶ֙רֶץ֙ country: ʾereṣ מַרְחַקִּ֔ים because of them that dwell in a far merḥāq הַֽיהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ אֵ֣ין not ʾayin בְּצִיּ֔וֹן in Zion? ṣiyyôn אִם ʾim מַלְכָּ֖הּ her king melek אֵ֣ין not ʾayin בָּ֑הּ מַדּ֗וּעַ in her? Why maddûaʿ הִכְעִס֛וּנִי have they provoked me to anger kaʿas בִּפְסִלֵיהֶ֖ם with their graven images, pĕsîl בְּהַבְלֵ֥י vanities? hebel נֵכָֽר׃ with strange nēkār
  20. עָבַ֥ר is past, ʿābar קָצִ֖יר The harvest qāṣîr כָּ֣לָה is ended, kālâ קָ֑יִץ the summer qayiṣ וַאֲנַ֖חְנוּ and we ʾănaḥnû ל֥וֹא are not lōʾ נוֹשָֽׁעְנוּ׃ saved. yāšaʿ
  21. עַל For ʿal שֶׁ֥בֶר the hurt šeber בַּת of the daughter bat עַמִּ֖י of my people ʿam הָשְׁבָּ֑רְתִּי am I hurt; šābar קָדַ֕רְתִּי I am black; qādar שַׁמָּ֖ה astonishment šammâ הֶחֱזִקָֽתְנִי׃ hath taken hold on me. ḥāzaq
  22. הַצֳרִי֙ balm ṣĕrî אֵ֣ין no ʾayin בְּגִלְעָ֔ד in Gilead; gilʿād אִם ʾim רֹפֵ֖א physician rāpāʾ אֵ֣ין no ʾayin שָׁ֑ם there? šām כִּ֗י then מַדּ֙וּעַ֙ why maddûaʿ לֹ֣א is not lōʾ עָֽלְתָ֔ה recovered? ʿālâ אֲרֻכַ֖ת the health ʾărûkâ בַּת of the daughter bat עַמִּֽי׃ of my people ʿam
