וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ And said ʾāmar אֶֽל unto ʾēl יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ Jeremiah yirmĕyâ הַנָּבִ֗יא the prophet, nābîʾ תִּפָּל be accepted nāpal נָ֤א Let, we beseech thee, nāʾ תְחִנָּתֵ֙נוּ֙ our supplication tĕḥinnâ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ before pānîm וְהִתְפַּלֵּ֤ל thee, and pray pālal בַּעֲדֵ֙נוּ֙ for bĕʿad אֶל us unto ʾēl יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm בְּעַ֖ד for bĕʿad כָּל all kōl הַשְּׁאֵרִ֣ית remnant; šĕʾērît הַזֹּ֑את this zōt כִּֽי (for kî נִשְׁאַ֤רְנוּ we are left šāʾar מְעַט֙ a few mĕʿaṭ מֵֽהַרְבֵּ֔ה of many, rābâ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר as ʾăšer עֵינֶ֖יךָ thine eyes ʿayin רֹא֥וֹת do behold us:) rāʾâ אֹתָֽנוּ׃ ʾēt

וְיַגֶּד may shew nāgad לָ֙נוּ֙ יְהוָ֣ה That the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm אֶת us ʾēt הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ the way derek אֲשֶׁ֣ר wherein ʾăšer נֵֽלֶךְ we may walk, hālak בָּ֑הּ וְאֶת ʾēt הַדָּבָ֖ר and the thing dābār אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer נַעֲשֶֽׂה׃ we may do. ʿāśâ

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said ʾāmar אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם unto ʾēl יִרְמְיָ֤הוּ Then Jeremiah yirmĕyâ הַנָּבִיא֙ the prophet nābîʾ שָׁמַ֔עְתִּי them, I have heard šāmaʿ הִנְנִ֧י behold, hēn מִתְפַּלֵּ֛ל I will pray pālal אֶל unto ʾēl יְהוָ֥ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם your God ʾĕlōhîm כְּדִבְרֵיכֶ֑ם according to your words; dābār וְֽהָיָ֡ה and it shall come to pass, hāyâ כָּֽל whatsoever kōl הַדָּבָר֩ thing dābār אֲשֶׁר ʾăšer יַעֲנֶ֨ה shall answer ʿānâ יְהוָ֤ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶתְכֶם֙ ʾēt אַגִּ֣יד you, I will declare nāgad לָכֶ֔ם לֹֽא back lōʾ אֶמְנַ֥ע unto you; I will keep mānaʿ מִכֶּ֖ם from you. min דָּבָֽר׃ nothing dābār

וְהֵ֙מָּה֙ Then they hēm אָמְר֣וּ said ʾāmar אֶֽל to ʾēl יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ Jeremiah, yirmĕyâ יְהִ֤י be hāyâ יְהוָה֙ The Lord yĕhōwâ בָּ֔נוּ לְעֵ֖ד witness ʿēd אֱמֶ֣ת a true ʾemet וְנֶאֱמָ֑ן and faithful ʾāman אִם between us, if ʾim לֹ֡א not lōʾ כְּֽכָל according to all kōl הַ֠דָּבָר things dābār אֲשֶׁ֨ר for the which ʾăšer יִֽשְׁלָחֲךָ֜ shall send šālaḥ יְהוָ֧ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ thy God ʾĕlōhîm אֵלֵ֖ינוּ thee to us. ʾēl כֵּ֥ן even kēn נַעֲשֶֽׂה׃ we do ʿāśâ

אִם Whether ʾim ט֣וֹב good, ṭôb וְאִם or whether ʾim רָ֔ע evil, raʿ בְּק֣וֹל׀ the voice qôl יְהוָ֣ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ our God, ʾĕlōhîm אֲשֶׁ֨ר to whom ʾăšer אֲנַ֜וּ we ʾănû שֹׁלְחִ֥ים send šālaḥ אֹתְךָ֛ ʾēt אֵלָ֖יו ʾēl נִשְׁמָ֑ע we will obey šāmaʿ לְמַ֙עַן֙ thee; that maʿan אֲשֶׁ֣ר ʾăšer יִֽיטַב it may be well yāṭab לָ֔נוּ כִּ֣י with us, when kî נִשְׁמַ֔ע we obey šāmaʿ בְּק֖וֹל the voice qôl יְהוָ֥ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ our God. ʾĕlōhîm

וַיִּקְרָ֗א Then called qārāʾ אֶל ʾēl יֽוֹחָנָן֙ he Johanan yôḥānān בֶּן the son bēn קָרֵ֔חַ of Kareah, qārēaḥ וְאֶ֛ל ʾēl כָּל and all kōl שָׂרֵ֥י the captains śar הַחֲיָלִ֖ים of the forces ḥayil אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer אִתּ֑וֹ with ʾēt וּלְכָ֨ל him, and all kōl הָעָ֔ם the people ʿam לְמִקָּטֹ֥ן from the least qāṭān וְעַד even to ʿad גָּדֽוֹל׃ the greatest, gādôl

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר And said ʾāmar אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם unto ʾēl כֹּֽה them, Thus kō אָמַ֥ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֖ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl אֲשֶׁ֨ר whom ʾăšer שְׁלַחְתֶּ֤ם ye sent šālaḥ אֹתִי֙ ʾēt אֵלָ֔יו unto ʾēl לְהַפִּ֥יל me to present nāpal תְּחִנַּתְכֶ֖ם your supplication tĕḥinnâ לְפָנָֽיו׃ before him; pānîm

אִם If ʾim שׁ֤וֹב ye will still šûb תֵּֽשְׁבוּ֙ abide yāšab בָּאָ֣רֶץ land, ʾereṣ הַזֹּ֔את in this zōt וּבָנִ֤יתִי then will I build bānâ אֶתְכֶם֙ ʾēt וְלֹ֣א you, and not lōʾ אֶהֱרֹ֔ס pull down, hāras וְנָטַעְתִּ֥י and I will plant nāṭaʿ אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt וְלֹ֣א you, and not lōʾ אֶתּ֑וֹשׁ pluck up: nātaš כִּ֤י for kî נִחַ֙מְתִּי֙ I repent nāḥam אֶל me of ʾēl הָ֣רָעָ֔ה the evil raʿ אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer עָשִׂ֖יתִי I have done unto you. ʿāśâ לָכֶֽם׃

אַל Be not ʾal תִּֽירְא֗וּ afraid yārēʾ מִפְּנֵי֙ of pānîm מֶ֣לֶךְ the king melek בָּבֶ֔ל of Babylon, bābel אֲשֶׁר ʾăšer אַתֶּ֥ם ye ʾattâ יְרֵאִ֖ים are afraid; yārēʾ מִפָּנָ֑יו of whom pānîm אַל be not ʾal תִּֽירְא֤וּ afraid yārēʾ מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ of min נְאֻם him, saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֔ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ כִּֽי for kî אִתְּכֶ֣ם with ʾēt אָ֔נִי I ʾănî לְהוֹשִׁ֧יעַ you to save yāšaʿ אֶתְכֶ֛ם ʾēt וּלְהַצִּ֥יל you, and to deliver nāṣal אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt מִיָּדֽוֹ׃ you from his hand. yād

וְאֶתֵּ֥ן And I will shew nātan לָכֶ֛ם רַחֲמִ֖ים mercies raḥam וְרִחַ֣ם unto you, that he may have mercy upon rāḥam אֶתְכֶ֑ם ʾēt וְהֵשִׁ֥יב you, and cause you to return šûb אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt אֶל to ʾēl אַדְמַתְכֶֽם׃ your own land. ʾădāmâ

לֵאמֹ֗ר Saying, ʾāmar לֹ֚א No; lōʾ כִּ֣י but kî אֶ֤רֶץ into the land ʾereṣ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ of Egypt, miṣrayim נָב֔וֹא we will go bôʾ אֲשֶׁ֤ר where ʾăšer לֹֽא no lōʾ נִרְאֶה֙ we shall see rāʾâ מִלְחָמָ֔ה war, milḥāmâ וְק֥וֹל the sound qôl שׁוֹפָ֖ר of the trumpet, šôpār לֹ֣א nor lōʾ נִשְׁמָ֑ע hear šāmaʿ וְלַלֶּ֥חֶם of bread; leḥem לֹֽא nor lōʾ נִרְעָ֖ב have hunger rāʿēb וְשָׁ֥ם and there šām נֵשֵֽׁב׃ will we dwell: yāšab

וְעַתָּ֕ה And now ʿattâ לָכֵ֛ן therefore kēn שִׁמְע֥וּ hear šāmaʿ דְבַר the word dābār יְהוָ֖ה of the Lord, yĕhōwâ שְׁאֵרִ֣ית ye remnant šĕʾērît יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah; yĕhûdâ כֹּֽה Thus kō אָמַר֩ saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֨ה the Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָא֜וֹת of hosts, ṣābāʾ אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel; yiśrāʾēl אִם If ʾim אַ֠תֶּם ye ʾattâ שׂ֣וֹם wholly śûm תְּשִׂמ֤וּן set śûm פְּנֵיכֶם֙ your faces pānîm לָבֹ֣א to enter into bôʾ מִצְרַ֔יִם Egypt, miṣrayim וּבָאתֶ֖ם and go bôʾ לָג֥וּר to sojourn there; gûr שָֽׁם׃ šām

וְהָיְתָ֣ה Then it shall come to pass, hāyâ הַחֶ֗רֶב the sword, ḥereb אֲשֶׁ֤ר which ʾăšer אַתֶּם֙ ye ʾattâ יְרֵאִ֣ים feared, yārēʾ מִמֶּ֔נָּה min שָׁ֛ם you there šām תַּשִּׂ֥יג shall overtake nāśag אֶתְכֶ֖ם ʾēt בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ מִצְרָ֑יִם of Egypt, miṣrayim וְהָרָעָ֞ב and the famine, rāʿāb אֲשֶׁר whereof ʾăšer אַתֶּ֣ם׀ ye ʾattâ דֹּאֲגִ֣ים were afraid, dāʾag מִמֶּ֗נּוּ min שָׁ֣ם you there šām יִדְבַּ֧ק shall follow close dābaq אַחֲרֵיכֶ֛ם after ʾaḥar מִצְרַ֖יִם in Egypt; miṣrayim וְשָׁ֥ם and there šām תָּמֻֽתוּ׃ ye shall die. mût

וְיִֽהְי֣וּ So shall it be hāyâ כָל with all kōl הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים the men ʾîš אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer שָׂ֨מוּ set śûm אֶת ʾēt פְּנֵיהֶ֜ם their faces pānîm לָב֤וֹא to go into bôʾ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ Egypt miṣrayim לָג֣וּר to sojourn gûr שָׁ֔ם there; šām יָמ֕וּתוּ they shall die mût בַּחֶ֖רֶב by the sword, ḥereb בָּרָעָ֣ב by the famine, rāʿāb וּבַדָּ֑בֶר and by the pestilence: deber וְלֹֽא and none lōʾ יִהְיֶ֤ה of them shall hāyâ לָהֶם֙ שָׂרִ֣יד remain śārîd וּפָלִ֔יט or escape pālîṭ מִפְּנֵי֙ from pānîm הָֽרָעָ֔ה the evil raʿ אֲשֶׁ֥ר that ʾăšer אֲנִ֖י I ʾănî מֵבִ֥יא will bring bôʾ עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ upon them. ʿal

כִּי֩ For kî כֹ֨ה thus kō אָמַ֜ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָאוֹת֮ of hosts, ṣābāʾ אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ of Israel; yiśrāʾēl כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ As ʾăšer נִתַּ֨ךְ hath been poured forth nātak אַפִּ֜י mine anger ʾap וַחֲמָתִ֗י and my fury ḥēmâ עַל upon ʿal יֹֽשְׁבֵי֙ the inhabitants yāšab יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם of Jerusalem; yĕrûšālaim כֵּ֣ן so kēn תִּתַּ֤ךְ be poured forth nātak חֲמָתִי֙ shall my fury ḥēmâ עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם upon ʿal בְּבֹאֲכֶ֖ם enter into bôʾ מִצְרָ֑יִם Egypt: miṣrayim וִהְיִיתֶ֞ם you, when ye shall hāyâ לְאָלָ֤ה and ye shall be an execration, ʾālâ וּלְשַׁמָּה֙ and an astonishment, šammâ וְלִקְלָלָ֣ה and a curse, qĕlālâ וּלְחֶרְפָּ֔ה and a reproach; ḥerpâ וְלֹֽא no more. lōʾ תִרְא֣וּ and ye shall see rāʾâ ע֔וֹד ʿôd אֶת ʾēt הַמָּק֖וֹם place māqôm הַזֶּֽה׃ this ze

דִּבֶּ֨ר hath said dābar יְהוָ֤ה The Lord yĕhōwâ עֲלֵיכֶם֙ concerning ʿal שְׁאֵרִ֣ית you, O ye remnant šĕʾērît יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah; yĕhûdâ אַל ye not ʾal תָּבֹ֖אוּ Go bôʾ מִצְרָ֑יִם into Egypt: miṣrayim יָדֹ֙עַ֙ know yādaʿ תֵּֽדְע֔וּ certainly yādaʿ כִּי that kî הַעִידֹ֥תִי I have admonished ʿûd בָכֶ֖ם הַיּֽוֹם׃ you this day. yôm

כִּ֣י For kî הִתְעֵתיֶם֮ ye dissembled tāʿâ בְּנַפְשֽׁוֹתֵיכֶם֒ in your hearts, nepeš כִּֽי when kî אַתֶּ֞ם ye ʾattâ שְׁלַחְתֶּ֣ם sent šālaḥ אֹתִ֗י ʾēt אֶל me unto ʾēl יְהוָ֤ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ your God, ʾĕlōhîm לֵאמֹ֔ר saying, ʾāmar הִתְפַּלֵּ֣ל Pray pālal בַּעֲדֵ֔נוּ for bĕʿad אֶל us unto ʾēl יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ our God; ʾĕlōhîm וּכְכֹל֩ and according unto all kōl אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer יֹאמַ֜ר shall say, ʾāmar יְהוָ֧ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֛ינוּ our God ʾĕlōhîm כֵּ֥ן so kēn הַגֶּד declare nāgad לָ֖נוּ וְעָשִֽׂינוּ׃ unto us, and we will do ʿāśâ

וָאַגִּ֥ד declared nāgad לָכֶ֖ם הַיּ֑וֹם And I have this day yôm וְלֹ֣א to you; but ye have not lōʾ שְׁמַעְתֶּ֗ם obeyed šāmaʿ בְּקוֹל֙ the voice qôl יְהוָ֣ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם your God, ʾĕlōhîm וּלְכֹ֖ל nor any kōl אֲשֶׁר for the which ʾăšer שְׁלָחַ֥נִי he hath sent šālaḥ אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ me unto you. ʾēl

וְעַתָּה֙ Now ʿattâ יָדֹ֣עַ therefore know yādaʿ תֵּֽדְע֔וּ certainly yādaʿ כִּ֗י that kî בַּחֶ֛רֶב by the sword, ḥereb בָּרָעָ֥ב by the famine, rāʿāb וּבַדֶּ֖בֶר and by the pestilence, deber תָּמ֑וּתוּ ye shall die mût בַּמָּקוֹם֙ in the place māqôm אֲשֶׁ֣ר whither ʾăšer חֲפַצְתֶּ֔ם ye desire ḥāpēṣ לָב֖וֹא to go bôʾ לָג֥וּר to sojourn. gûr שָֽׁם׃ šām
