  1. הַדָּבָר֙ The word dābār אֲשֶׁ֣ר that ʾăšer הָיָ֣ה came hāyâ אֶֽל to ʾēl יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ Jeremiah yirmĕyâ מֵאֵ֥ת from ʾēt יְהוָ֖ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying, ʾāmar
  2. כֹּֽה Thus אָמַ֧ר speaketh ʾāmar יְהוָ֛ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֥י God ʾĕlōhîm יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar כְּתָב Write kātab לְךָ֗ אֵ֧ת thee ʾēt כָּל all kōl הַדְּבָרִ֛ים the words dābār אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי I have spoken dābar אֵלֶ֖יךָ unto ʾēl אֶל thee in ʾēl סֵֽפֶר׃ a book. sēper
  3. כִּ֠י For, הִנֵּ֨ה lo, hinnē יָמִ֤ים the days yôm בָּאִים֙ come, bôʾ נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ וְ֠שַׁבְתִּי that I will bring again šûb אֶת ʾēt שְׁב֨וּת the captivity šĕbût עַמִּ֧י of my people ʿam יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל Israel yiśrāʾēl וִֽיהוּדָ֖ה and Judah, yĕhûdâ אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֑ה the Lord: yĕhōwâ וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֗ים and I will cause them to return šûb אֶל to ʾēl הָאָ֛רֶץ the land ʾereṣ אֲשֶׁר that ʾăšer נָתַ֥תִּי I gave nātan לַאֲבוֹתָ֖ם to their fathers, ʾāb וִֽירֵשֽׁוּהָ׃ and they shall possess it. yāraš
  4. וְאֵ֣לֶּה And these ʾēlle הַדְּבָרִ֗ים the words dābār אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ʾăšer דִּבֶּ֧ר spake dābar יְהוָ֛ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל concerning ʾēl יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiśrāʾēl וְאֶל and concerning ʾēl יְהוּדָֽה׃ Judah. yĕhûdâ
  5. כִּי For כֹה֙ thus אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֔ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ ק֥וֹל a voice qôl חֲרָדָ֖ה of trembling, ḥărādâ שָׁמָ֑עְנוּ We have heard šāmaʿ פַּ֖חַד of fear, paḥad וְאֵ֥ין and not ʾayin שָׁלֽוֹם׃ of peace. šālôm
  6. שַׁאֲלוּ Ask šāʾal נָ֣א ye now, nāʾ וּרְא֔וּ and see rāʾâ אִם whether ʾim יֹלֵ֖ד doth travail with child? yālad זָכָ֑ר a man zākār מַדּוּעַ֩ wherefore maddûaʿ רָאִ֨יתִי do I see rāʾâ כָל every kōl גֶּ֜בֶר man geber יָדָ֤יו with his hands yād עַל on ʿal חֲלָצָיו֙ his loins, ḥālāṣ כַּיּ֣וֹלֵדָ֔ה as a woman in travail, yālad וְנֶהֶפְכ֥וּ are turned hāpak כָל and all kōl פָּנִ֖ים faces pānîm לְיֵרָקֽוֹן׃ into paleness? yērāqôn
  7. ה֗וֹי Alas! hôy כִּ֥י for גָד֛וֹל great, gādôl הַיּ֥וֹם day yôm הַה֖וּא that hûʾ מֵאַ֣יִן so that none ʾayin כָּמֹ֑הוּ like it: kĕmô וְעֵֽת even the time ʿēt צָרָ֥ה trouble; ṣārâ הִיא֙ it hûʾ לְיַֽעֲקֹ֔ב of Jacob's yaʿăqōb וּמִמֶּ֖נָּה out of it. min יִוָּשֵֽׁעַ׃ but he shall be saved yāšaʿ
  8. וְהָיָה֩ For it shall come to pass hāyâ בַיּ֨וֹם day, yôm הַה֜וּא in that hûʾ נְאֻ֣ם׀ saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ צְבָא֗וֹת of hosts, ṣābāʾ אֶשְׁבֹּ֤ר I will break šābar עֻלּוֹ֙ his yoke ʿōl מֵעַ֣ל from off ʿal צַוָּארֶ֔ךָ thy neck, ṣawwār וּמוֹסְרוֹתֶ֖יךָ thy bonds, môsēr אֲנַתֵּ֑ק and will burst nātaq וְלֹא shall no lōʾ יַעַבְדוּ serve themselves of him: ʿābad ב֥וֹ ע֖וֹד more ʿôd זָרִֽים׃ and strangers zûr
  9. וְעָ֣בְד֔וּ But they shall serve ʿābad אֵ֖ת ʾēt יְהוָ֣ה the Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם their God, ʾĕlōhîm וְאֵת֙ ʾēt דָּוִ֣ד and David dāwid מַלְכָּ֔ם their king, melek אֲשֶׁ֥ר whom ʾăšer אָקִ֖ים I will raise up unto them. qûm לָהֶֽם׃ hēm
  10. וְאַתָּ֡ה thou ʾattâ אַל not, ʾal תִּירָא֩ Therefore fear yārēʾ עַבְדִּ֨י O my servant ʿebed יַעֲקֹ֤ב Jacob, yaʿăqōb נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָֹה֙ the Lord; yĕhōwâ וְאַל neither ʾal תֵּחַ֣ת be dismayed, ḥātat יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל O Israel: yiśrāʾēl כִּ֠י for, הִנְנִ֤י lo, hēn מוֹשִֽׁיעֲךָ֙ I will save yāšaʿ מֵֽרָח֔וֹק thee from afar, rāḥôq וְאֶֽת ʾēt זַרְעֲךָ֖ and thy seed zeraʿ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ from the land ʾereṣ שִׁבְיָ֑ם of their captivity; šĕbî וְשָׁ֧ב shall return, šûb יַעֲקֹ֛ב and Jacob yaʿăqōb וְשָׁקַ֥ט and shall be in rest, šāqaṭ וְשַׁאֲנַ֖ן and be quiet, šāʾan וְאֵ֥ין and none ʾayin מַחֲרִֽיד׃ shall make afraid. ḥārad
  11. כִּֽי For אִתְּךָ֥ with ʾēt אֲנִ֛י I ʾănî נְאֻם thee, saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֖ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ לְהֽוֹשִׁיעֶ֑ךָ to save yāšaʿ כִּי֩ thee: though אֶעֱשֶׂ֨ה I make ʿāśâ כָלָ֜ה a full end kālâ בְּכָֽל of all kōl הַגּוֹיִ֣ם׀ nations gôy אֲשֶׁ֧ר whither ʾăšer הֲפִצוֹתִ֣יךָ I have scattered pûṣ שָּׁ֗ם šām אַ֤ךְ thee, yet ʾak אֹֽתְךָ֙ ʾēt לֹֽא will I not lōʾ אֶעֱשֶׂ֣ה make ʿāśâ כָלָ֔ה a full end kālâ וְיִסַּרְתִּ֙יךָ֙ of thee: but I will correct yāsar לַמִּשְׁפָּ֔ט thee in measure, mišpāṭ וְנַקֵּ֖ה leave thee altogether nāqâ לֹ֥א and will not lōʾ אֲנַקֶּֽךָּ׃ unpunished. nāqâ
  12. כִּ֣י For כֹ֥ה thus אָמַ֛ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֖ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ אָנ֣וּשׁ incurable, ʾānaš לְשִׁבְרֵ֑ךְ Thy bruise šeber נַחְלָ֖ה grievous. ḥālâ מַכָּתֵֽךְ׃ thy wound makkâ
  13. אֵֽין none ʾayin דָּ֥ן to plead dîn דִּינֵ֖ךְ thy cause, dîn לְמָז֑וֹר that thou mayest be bound up: māzôr רְפֻא֥וֹת medicines. rĕpuʾâ תְּעָלָ֖ה healing tĕʿālâ אֵ֥ין thou hast no ʾayin לָֽךְ׃
  14. כָּל All kōl מְאַהֲבַ֣יִךְ thy lovers ʾāhab שְׁכֵח֔וּךְ have forgotten šākaḥ אוֹתָ֖ךְ ʾēt לֹ֣א thee not; lōʾ יִדְרֹ֑שׁוּ thee; they seek dāraš כִּי֩ for מַכַּ֨ת thee with the wound makkâ אוֹיֵ֤ב of an enemy, ʾōyēb הִכִּיתִיךְ֙ I have wounded nākâ מוּסַ֣ר with the chastisement mûsār אַכְזָרִ֔י of a cruel one, ʾakzārî עַ֚ל for ʿal רֹ֣ב the multitude rōb עֲוֹנֵ֔ךְ of thine iniquity; ʿāwōn עָצְמ֖וּ were increased. ʿāṣam חַטֹּאתָֽיִךְ׃ thy sins ḥaṭṭāʾâ
  15. מַה Why תִּזְעַק֙ criest zāʿaq עַל thou for ʿal שִׁבְרֵ֔ךְ thine affliction? šeber אָנ֖וּשׁ incurable ʾānaš מַכְאֹבֵ֑ךְ thy sorrow makʾōb עַ֣ל׀ for ʿal רֹ֣ב the multitude rōb עֲוֹנֵ֗ךְ of thine iniquity: ʿāwōn עָֽצְמוּ֙ were increased, ʿāṣam חַטֹּאתַ֔יִךְ thy sins ḥaṭṭāʾâ עָשִׂ֥יתִי I have done ʿāśâ אֵ֖לֶּה these things unto thee. ʾēlle לָֽךְ׃
  16. לָכֵ֞ן Therefore kēn כָּל all kōl אֹכְלַ֙יִךְ֙ they that devour ʾākal יֵאָכֵ֔לוּ thee shall be devoured; ʾākal וְכָל and all kōl צָרַ֥יִךְ thine adversaries, ṣar כֻּלָּ֖ם every one kōl בַּשְּׁבִ֣י into captivity; šĕbî יֵלֵ֑כוּ of them, shall go hālak וְהָי֤וּ thee shall be hāyâ שֹׁאסַ֙יִךְ֙ and they that spoil šāʾas לִמְשִׁסָּ֔ה a spoil, mĕšissâ וְכָל and all kōl בֹּזְזַ֖יִךְ that prey bāzaz אֶתֵּ֥ן upon thee will I give nātan לָבַֽז׃ for a prey. baz
  17. כִּי֩ For אַעֲלֶ֨ה I will restore ʿālâ אֲרֻכָ֥ה health ʾărûkâ לָ֛ךְ וּמִמַּכּוֹתַ֥יִךְ thee of thy wounds, makkâ אֶרְפָּאֵ֖ךְ unto thee, and I will heal rāpāʾ נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָ֑ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ כִּ֤י because נִדָּחָה֙ thee an Outcast, nādaḥ קָ֣רְאוּ they called qārāʾ לָ֔ךְ צִיּ֣וֹן Zion, ṣiyyôn הִ֔יא This hûʾ דֹּרֵ֖שׁ man seeketh after. dāraš אֵ֥ין whom no ʾayin לָֽהּ׃
  18. כֹּ֣ה׀ Thus אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֗ה the Lord; yĕhōwâ הִנְנִי Behold, hēn שָׁב֙ I will bring again šûb שְׁבוּת֙ the captivity šĕbût אָהֳלֵ֣י tents, ʾōhel יַֽעֲק֔וֹב of Jacob's yaʿăqōb וּמִשְׁכְּנֹתָ֖יו on his dwellingplaces; miškān אֲרַחֵ֑ם and have mercy rāḥam וְנִבְנְתָ֥ה shall be builded bānâ עִיר֙ and the city ʿîr עַל upon ʿal תִּלָּ֔הּ her own heap, tēl וְאַרְמ֖וֹן and the palace ʾarmôn עַל after ʿal מִשְׁפָּט֥וֹ the manner thereof. mišpāṭ יֵשֵֽׁב׃ shall remain yāšab
  19. וְיָצָ֥א And out of them shall proceed yāṣāʾ מֵהֶ֛ם hēm תּוֹדָ֖ה thanksgiving tôdâ וְק֣וֹל and the voice qôl מְשַׂחֲקִ֑ים of them that make merry: śāḥaq וְהִרְבִּתִים֙ and I will multiply rābâ וְלֹ֣א them, and they shall not lōʾ יִמְעָ֔טוּ be few; māʿaṭ וְהִכְבַּדְתִּ֖ים I will also glorify kābad וְלֹ֥א them, and they shall not lōʾ יִצְעָֽרוּ׃ be small. ṣāʿar
  20. וְהָי֤וּ also shall be hāyâ בָנָיו֙ Their children bēn כְּקֶ֔דֶם as aforetime, qedem וַעֲדָת֖וֹ and their congregation ʿēdâ לְפָנַ֣י before pānîm תִּכּ֑וֹן shall be established kûn וּפָ֣קַדְתִּ֔י me, and I will punish pāqad עַ֖ל ʿal כָּל all kōl לֹחֲצָֽיו׃ that oppress them. lāḥaṣ
  21. וְהָיָ֨ה shall be hāyâ אַדִּיר֜וֹ And their nobles ʾaddîr מִמֶּ֗נּוּ of min וּמֹֽשְׁלוֹ֙ themselves, and their governor māšal מִקִּרְבּ֣וֹ from the midst qereb יֵצֵ֔א shall proceed yāṣāʾ וְהִקְרַבְתִּ֖יו of them; and I will cause him to draw near, qārab וְנִגַּ֣שׁ and he shall approach nāgaš אֵלָ֑י unto ʾēl כִּי֩ me: for מִ֨י who הוּא that hûʾ זֶ֜ה this ze עָרַ֧ב engaged ʿārab אֶת ʾēt לִבּ֛וֹ his heart lēb לָגֶ֥שֶׁת to approach nāgaš אֵלַ֖י unto ʾēl נְאֻם me? saith nĕʾum יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  22. וִהְיִ֥יתֶם And ye shall be hāyâ לִ֖י לְעָ֑ם my people, ʿam וְאָ֣נֹכִ֔י and I ʾānōkî אֶהְיֶ֥ה will be hāyâ לָכֶ֖ם לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ your God. ʾĕlōhîm
  23. הִנֵּ֣ה׀ Behold, hinnē סַעֲרַ֣ת the whirlwind saʿar יְהוָ֗ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ חֵמָה֙ with fury, ḥēmâ יָֽצְאָ֔ה goeth forth yāṣāʾ סַ֖עַר whirlwind: saʿar מִתְגּוֹרֵ֑ר a continuing gārar עַ֛ל upon ʿal רֹ֥אשׁ the head rōš רְשָׁעִ֖ים of the wicked. rāšāʿ יָחֽוּל׃ it shall fall with pain ḥûl
  24. לֹ֣א shall not lōʾ יָשׁ֗וּב return, šûb חֲרוֹן֙ The fierce ḥārôn אַף anger ʾap יְהוָ֔ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ עַד until ʿad עֲשֹׂת֥וֹ he have done ʿāśâ וְעַד and until ʿad הֲקִימ֖וֹ he have performed qûm מְזִמּ֣וֹת the intents mĕzimmâ לִבּ֑וֹ of his heart: lēb בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית in the latter ʾaḥărît הַיָּמִ֖ים days yôm תִּתְבּ֥וֹנְנוּ ye shall consider it. bîn בָֽהּ׃
