இதோ, நீங்கள் என் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேளாதபடிக்கு உங்கள் கழுத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தினபடியினால் நான் இந்த நகரத்துக்கு விரோதமாய்ச் சொன்ன எல்லாத் தீங்கையும் இதின்மேலும் இதற்கடுத்த பட்டணங்களின்மேலும் வரப்பண்ணுவேன் என்று இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

“இதுதான் சர்வ வல்லமையுள்ள இஸ்ரவேலரின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்கிறது: ‘நான் எருசலேம் மற்றும் அதைச் சுற்றியுள்ள கிராமங்களுக்கும் பேரழிவைக் கொண்டுவருவேன் என்று சொன்னேன். நான் விரைவில் அவை நிகழுமாறு செய்வேன். ஏனென்றால், ஜனங்கள் மிகவும் பிடிவாதமானவர்கள், அவர்கள் என்னை கவனிக்கவும், எனக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியவும் மறுத்துவிட்டனர்.’”
