  1. צַדִּ֤יק Righteous ṣaddîq אַתָּה֙ thou, ʾattâ יְהוָ֔ה O Lord, yĕhōwâ כִּ֥י when אָרִ֖יב I plead rîb אֵלֶ֑יךָ with ʾēl אַ֤ךְ thee: yet ʾak מִשְׁפָּטִים֙ thee of judgments: mišpāṭ אֲדַבֵּ֣ר let me talk dābar אֹתָ֔ךְ with ʾēt מַדּ֗וּעַ Wherefore maddûaʿ דֶּ֤רֶךְ doth the way derek רְשָׁעִים֙ of the wicked rāšāʿ צָלֵ֔חָה prosper? ṣālaḥ שָׁל֖וּ they happy šālâ כָּל are all kōl בֹּ֥גְדֵי that deal very beged בָֽגֶד׃ treacherously? bāgad
  2. נְטַעְתָּם֙ Thou hast planted nāṭaʿ גַּם them, yea, gam שֹׁרָ֔שׁוּ they have taken root: šāraš יֵלְכ֖וּ they grow, hālak גַּם yea, gam עָ֣שׂוּ they bring forth ʿāśâ פֶ֑רִי fruit: pĕrî קָר֤וֹב near qārôb אַתָּה֙ thou ʾattâ בְּפִיהֶ֔ם in their mouth, pe וְרָח֖וֹק and far from rāḥôq מִכִּלְיוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ their reins. kilyâ
  3. וְאַתָּ֤ה But thou, ʾattâ יְהוָה֙ O Lord, yĕhōwâ יְדַעְתָּ֔נִי knowest yādaʿ תִּרְאֵ֕נִי me: thou hast seen rāʾâ וּבָחַנְתָּ֥ me, and tried bāḥan לִבִּ֖י mine heart lēb אִתָּ֑ךְ toward ʾēt הַתִּקֵם֙ thee: pull them out nātaq כְּצֹ֣אן like sheep ṣōn לְטִבְחָ֔ה for the slaughter, ṭibḥâ וְהַקְדִּשֵׁ֖ם and prepare qādaš לְי֥וֹם them for the day yôm הֲרֵגָֽה׃ of slaughter. hărēgâ
  4. עַד How long ʿad מָתַי֙ mātay תֶּאֱבַ֣ל mourn, ʾābal הָאָ֔רֶץ shall the land ʾereṣ וְעֵ֥שֶׂב and the herbs ʿeśeb כָּל of every kōl הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה field śāde יִיבָ֑שׁ wither, yābēš מֵרָעַ֣ת for the wickedness raʿ יֹֽשְׁבֵי of them that dwell yāšab בָ֗הּ סָפְתָ֤ה are consumed, sāpâ בְהֵמוֹת֙ therein? the beasts bĕhēmâ וָע֔וֹף and the birds; ʿôp כִּ֣י because אָמְר֔וּ they said, ʾāmar לֹ֥א He shall not lōʾ יִרְאֶ֖ה see rāʾâ אֶת ʾēt אַחֲרִיתֵֽנוּ׃ our last end. ʾaḥărît
  5. כִּ֣י If אֶת with ʾēt רַגְלִ֥ים׀ the footmen, raglî רַ֙צְתָּה֙ thou hast run rûṣ וַיַּלְא֔וּךָ and they have wearied lāʾâ וְאֵ֥יךְ thee, then how ʾêk תְּתַֽחֲרֶ֖ה canst thou contend taḥārâ אֶת with ʾēt הַסּוּסִ֑ים horses? sûs וּבְאֶ֤רֶץ and in the land ʾereṣ שָׁלוֹם֙ of peace, šālôm אַתָּ֣ה thou ʾattâ בוֹטֵ֔חַ trustedst, bāṭaḥ וְאֵ֥יךְ then how ʾêk תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה wilt thou do ʿāśâ בִּגְא֥וֹן in the swelling gāʾôn הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ of Jordan? yardēn
  6. כִּ֧י For גַם even gam אַחֶ֣יךָ thy brethren, ʾāḥ וּבֵית and the house bayit אָבִ֗יךָ of thy father, ʾāb גַּם even gam הֵ֙מָּה֙ they hēm בָּ֣גְדוּ have dealt treacherously bāgad בָ֔ךְ גַּם with thee; yea, gam הֵ֛מָּה they hēm קָרְא֥וּ have called qārāʾ אַחֲרֶ֖יךָ after ʾaḥar מָלֵ֑א a multitude mālēʾ אַל them not, ʾal תַּאֲמֵ֣ן thee: believe ʾāman בָּ֔ם כִּֽי though יְדַבְּר֥וּ they speak dābar אֵלֶ֖יךָ unto thee. ʾēl טוֹבֽוֹת׃ fair words ṭôb
  7. עָזַ֙בְתִּי֙ I have forsaken ʿāzab אֶת ʾēt בֵּיתִ֔י mine house, bayit נָטַ֖שְׁתִּי I have left nāṭaš אֶת ʾēt נַחֲלָתִ֑י mine heritage; naḥălâ נָתַ֛תִּי I have given nātan אֶת ʾēt יְדִד֥וּת the dearly beloved yĕdidût נַפְשִׁ֖י of my soul nepeš בְּכַ֥ף into the hand kap אֹיְבֶֽיהָ׃ of her enemies. ʾōyēb
  8. הָיְתָה is hāyâ לִּ֥י נַחֲלָתִ֖י Mine heritage naḥălâ כְּאַרְיֵ֣ה unto me as a lion ʾărî בַיָּ֑עַר in the forest; yaʿar נָתְנָ֥ה it crieth out nātan עָלַ֛י against ʿal בְּקוֹלָ֖הּ qôl עַל me: therefore ʿal כֵּ֥ן kēn שְׂנֵאתִֽיהָ׃ have I hated it. śānēʾ
  9. הַעַ֨יִט bird, ʿayiṭ צָב֤וּעַ unto me a speckled ṣābûaʿ נַחֲלָתִי֙ Mine heritage naḥălâ לִ֔י הַעַ֖יִט the birds ʿayiṭ סָבִ֣יב round about sābîb עָלֶ֑יהָ against ʿal לְכ֗וּ her; come hālak אִסְפ֛וּ ye, assemble ʾāsap כָּל all kōl חַיַּ֥ת the beasts ḥay הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה of the field, śāde הֵתָ֥יוּ come ʾātâ לְאָכְלָֽה׃ to devour. ʾoklâ
  10. רֹעִ֤ים pastors rāʿâ רַבִּים֙ Many rab שִֽׁחֲת֣וּ have destroyed šāḥat כַרְמִ֔י my vineyard, kerem בֹּסְס֖וּ they have trodden bûs אֶת under foot, ʾēt חֶלְקָתִ֑י my portion ḥelqâ נָֽתְנ֛וּ they have made nātan אֶת ʾēt חֶלְקַ֥ת portion ḥelqâ חֶמְדָּתִ֖י my pleasant ḥemdâ לְמִדְבַּ֥ר wilderness. midbār שְׁמָמָֽה׃ a desolate šĕmāmâ
  11. שָׂמָהּ֙ They have made śûm לִשְׁמָמָ֔ה it desolate, šāmēm אָבְלָ֥ה desolate it mourneth ʾābal עָלַ֖י unto me; ʿal שְׁמֵמָ֑ה desolate, šĕmāmâ נָשַׁ֙מָּה֙ is made ʿāśâ כָּל the whole kōl הָאָ֔רֶץ land ʾereṣ כִּ֛י because אֵ֥ין no ʾayin אִ֖ישׁ man ʾîš שָׂ֥ם layeth śûm עַל to ʿal לֵֽב׃ heart. lēb
  12. עַֽל upon ʿal כָּל all kōl שְׁפָיִ֣ם high places šĕpî בַּמִּדְבָּ֗ר through the wilderness: midbār בָּ֚אוּ are come bôʾ שֹֽׁדְדִ֔ים The spoilers šādad כִּ֣י for חֶ֤רֶב the sword ḥereb לַֽיהוָה֙ of the Lord yĕhōwâ אֹֽכְלָ֔ה shall devour ʾākal מִקְצֵה from the end qāṣe אֶ֖רֶץ of the land ʾereṣ וְעַד even to ʿad קְצֵ֣ה the end qāṣe הָאָ֑רֶץ of the land: ʾereṣ אֵ֥ין no ʾayin שָׁל֖וֹם shall have peace. šālôm לְכָל kōl בָּשָֽׂר׃ flesh bāśār
  13. זָרְע֤וּ They have sown zāraʿ חִטִּים֙ wheat, ḥiṭṭâ וְקֹצִ֣ים thorns: qôṣ קָצָ֔רוּ but shall reap qāṣar נֶחְל֖וּ they have put themselves to pain, ḥālâ לֹ֣א shall not lōʾ יוֹעִ֑לוּ profit: yāʿal וּבֹ֙שׁוּ֙ and they shall be ashamed bûš מִתְּבוּאֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם of your revenues tĕbûʾâ מֵחֲר֖וֹן because of the fierce ḥārôn אַף anger ʾap יְהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ
  14. כֹּ֣ה׀ Thus אָמַ֣ר saith ʾāmar יְהוָ֗ה the Lord yĕhōwâ עַל against ʿal כָּל all kōl שְׁכֵנַי֙ neighbours, šākēn הָֽרָעִ֔ים mine evil raʿ הַנֹּֽגְעִים֙ that touch nāgaʿ בַּֽנַּחֲלָ֔ה the inheritance naḥălâ אֲשֶׁר which ʾăšer הִנְחַ֥לְתִּי to inherit; nāḥal אֶת I have caused ʾēt עַמִּ֖י my people ʿam אֶת ʾēt יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Israel yiśrāʾēl הִנְנִ֤י Behold, hēn נֹֽתְשָׁם֙ I will pluck them out nātaš מֵעַ֣ל of ʿal אַדְמָתָ֔ם their land, ʾădāmâ וְאֶת ʾēt בֵּ֥ית the house bayit יְהוּדָ֖ה of Judah yĕhûdâ אֶתּ֥וֹשׁ and pluck out nātaš מִתּוֹכָֽם׃ from among them. tāwek
  15. וְהָיָ֗ה And it shall come to pass, hāyâ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ after that ʾaḥar נָתְשִׁ֣י I have plucked them out nātaš אוֹתָ֔ם ʾēt אָשׁ֖וּב I will return, šûb וְרִֽחַמְתִּ֑ים and have compassion rāḥam וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֛ים on them, and will bring them again, šûb אִ֥ישׁ every man ʾîš לְנַחֲלָת֖וֹ to his heritage, naḥălâ וְאִ֥ישׁ and every man ʾîš לְאַרְצֽוֹ׃ to his land. ʾereṣ
  16. וְהָיָ֡ה And it shall come to pass, hāyâ אִם if ʾim לָמֹ֣ד they will diligently lāmad יִלְמְדוּ֩ learn lāmad אֶת ʾēt דַּֽרְכֵ֨י the ways derek עַמִּ֜י of my people, ʿam לְהִשָּׁבֵ֤עַ to swear šābaʿ בִּשְׁמִי֙ by my name, šēm חַי liveth; ḥay יְהוָ֔ה The Lord yĕhōwâ כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר as ʾăšer לִמְּדוּ֙ they taught lāmad אֶת ʾēt עַמִּ֔י my people ʿam לְהִשָּׁבֵ֖עַ to swear šābaʿ בַּבָּ֑עַל by Baal; baʿal וְנִבְנ֖וּ then shall they be built bānâ בְּת֥וֹךְ in the midst tāwek עַמִּֽי׃ of my people. ʿam
  17. וְאִ֖ם But if ʾim לֹ֣א they will not lōʾ יִשְׁמָ֑עוּ obey, šāmaʿ וְנָ֨תַשְׁתִּ֜י I will utterly nātaš אֶת ʾēt הַגּ֥וֹי nation, gôy הַה֛וּא that hûʾ נָת֥וֹשׁ pluck up nātaš וְאַבֵּ֖ד and destroy ʾābad נְאֻם saith nĕʾum יְהוָֽה׃ the Lord. yĕhōwâ
