קִרְב֤וּ Come near, qārab גוֹיִם֙ ye nations, gôy לִשְׁמֹ֔עַ to hear; šāmaʿ וּלְאֻמִּ֖ים ye people: lĕʾōm הַקְשִׁ֑יבוּ and hearken, qāšab תִּשְׁמַ֤ע hear, šāmaʿ הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ let the earth ʾereṣ וּמְלֹאָ֔הּ and all that is therein; mĕlōʾ תֵּבֵ֖ל the world, tēbēl וְכָל and all things kōl צֶאֱצָאֶֽיהָ׃ that come forth of it. ṣeʾĕṣāʾ

כִּ֣י For kî קֶ֤צֶף the indignation qeṣep לַֽיהוָה֙ of the Lord yĕhōwâ עַל upon ʿal כָּל all kōl הַגּוֹיִ֔ם nations, gôy וְחֵמָ֖ה and fury ḥēmâ עַל upon ʿal כָּל all kōl צְבָאָ֑ם their armies: ṣābāʾ הֶחֱרִימָ֖ם he hath utterly destroyed ḥāram נְתָנָ֥ם them, he hath delivered nātan לַטָּֽבַח׃ them to the slaughter. ṭebaḥ

וְחַלְלֵיהֶ֣ם Their slain ḥālāl יֻשְׁלָ֔כוּ also shall be cast out, šālak וּפִגְרֵיהֶ֖ם out of their carcases, peger יַעֲלֶ֣ה shall come up ʿālâ בָאְשָׁ֑ם and their stink bĕʾōš וְנָמַ֥סּוּ shall be melted māsas הָרִ֖ים and the mountains har מִדָּמָֽם׃ with their blood. dām

וְנָמַ֙קּוּ֙ shall be dissolved, māqaq כָּל And all kōl צְבָ֣א the host ṣābāʾ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם of heaven šāmayim וְנָגֹ֥לּוּ shall be rolled together gālal כַסֵּ֖פֶר as a scroll: sēper הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם and the heavens šāmayim וְכָל and all kōl צְבָאָ֣ם their host ṣābāʾ יִבּ֔וֹל shall fall down, nābēl כִּנְבֹ֤ל falleth off nābēl עָלֶה֙ as the leaf ʿāle מִגֶּ֔פֶן from the vine, gepen וּכְנֹבֶ֖לֶת and as a falling nābēl מִתְּאֵנָֽה׃ from the fig tree. tĕʾēn

כִּֽי For kî רִוְּתָ֥ה shall be bathed rāwâ בַשָּׁמַ֖יִם in heaven: šāmayim חַרְבִּ֑י my sword ḥereb הִנֵּה֙ behold, hinnē עַל upon ʿal אֱד֣וֹם Idumea, ʾĕdōm תֵּרֵ֔ד it shall come down yārad וְעַל and upon ʿal עַ֥ם the people ʿam חֶרְמִ֖י of my curse, ḥērem לְמִשְׁפָּֽט׃ to judgment. mišpāṭ

חֶ֣רֶב The sword ḥereb לַיהוָ֞ה of the Lord yĕhōwâ מָלְאָ֥ה is filled mālēʾ דָם֙ with blood, dām הֻדַּ֣שְׁנָה it is made fat dāšēn מֵחֵ֔לֶב with fatness, ḥeleb מִדַּ֤ם with the blood dām כָּרִים֙ of lambs kar וְעַתּוּדִ֔ים and goats, ʿattûd מֵחֵ֖לֶב with the fat ḥeleb כִּלְי֣וֹת of the kidneys kilyâ אֵילִ֑ים of rams: ʾayil כִּ֣י for kî זֶ֤בַח hath a sacrifice zebaḥ לַֽיהוָה֙ the Lord yĕhōwâ בְּבָצְרָ֔ה in Bozrah, boṣrâ וְטֶ֥בַח slaughter ṭebaḥ גָּד֖וֹל and a great gādôl בְּאֶ֥רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ אֱדֽוֹם׃ of Idumea. ʾĕdōm

וְיָרְד֤וּ shall come down yārad רְאֵמִים֙ And the unicorns rĕʾēm עִמָּ֔ם with ʿim וּפָרִ֖ים them, and the bullocks par עִם with ʿim אַבִּירִ֑ים the bulls; ʾabbîr וְרִוְּתָ֤ה shall be soaked rāwâ אַרְצָם֙ and their land ʾereṣ מִדָּ֔ם with blood, dām וַעֲפָרָ֖ם and their dust ʿāpār מֵחֵ֥לֶב with fatness. ḥeleb יְדֻשָּֽׁן׃ made fat dāšēn

כִּ֛י For kî י֥וֹם the day yôm נָקָ֖ם vengeance, nāqām לַֽיהוָ֑ה of the Lord's yĕhōwâ שְׁנַ֥ת the year šāne שִׁלּוּמִ֖ים of recompences šillûm לְרִ֥יב for the controversy rîb צִיּֽוֹן׃ of Zion. ṣiyyôn

וְנֶהֶפְכ֤וּ thereof shall be turned hāpak נְחָלֶ֙יהָ֙ And the streams naḥal לְזֶ֔פֶת into pitch, zepet וַעֲפָרָ֖הּ and the dust ʿāpār לְגָפְרִ֑ית thereof into brimstone, goprît וְהָיְתָ֣ה thereof shall become hāyâ אַרְצָ֔הּ and the land ʾereṣ לְזֶ֖פֶת pitch. zepet בֹּעֵרָֽה׃ burning bāʿar

לַ֤יְלָה night layil וְיוֹמָם֙ nor day; yômām לֹ֣א It shall not lōʾ תִכְבֶּ֔ה be quenched kābâ לְעוֹלָ֖ם for ever: ʿôlām יַעֲלֶ֣ה thereof shall go up ʿālâ עֲשָׁנָ֑הּ the smoke ʿāšān מִדּ֤וֹר from generation dôr לָדוֹר֙ to generation dôr תֶּחֱרָ֔ב it shall lie waste; ḥārab לְנֵ֣צַח it for ever neṣaḥ נְצָחִ֔ים and ever. neṣaḥ אֵ֥ין none ʾayin עֹבֵ֖ר shall pass through ʿābar בָּֽהּ׃

וִירֵשׁ֙וּהָ֙ shall possess yāraš קָאַ֣ת But the cormorant qāʾat וְקִפּ֔וֹד and the bittern qippôd וְיַנְשׁ֥וֹף it; the owl yanšûp וְעֹרֵ֖ב also and the raven ʿōrēb יִשְׁכְּנוּ shall dwell šākan בָ֑הּ וְנָטָ֥ה in it: and he shall stretch out nāṭâ עָלֶ֛יהָ upon ʿal קַֽו it the line qǎw תֹ֖הוּ of confusion, tōhû וְאַבְנֵי and the stones ʾeben בֹֽהוּ׃ of emptiness. bōhû

חֹרֶ֥יהָ the nobles ḥōr וְאֵֽין but none ʾayin שָׁ֖ם there, šām מְלוּכָ֣ה thereof to the kingdom, mĕlûkâ יִקְרָ֑אוּ They shall call qārāʾ וְכָל and all kōl שָׂרֶ֖יהָ her princes śar יִ֥הְיוּ shall be hāyâ אָֽפֶס׃ nothing. ʾepes

וְעָלְתָ֤ה shall come up ʿālâ אַרְמְנֹתֶ֙יהָ֙ in her palaces, ʾarmôn סִירִ֔ים And thorns sîr קִמּ֥וֹשׂ nettles qimmôš וָח֖וֹחַ and brambles ḥôaḥ בְּמִבְצָרֶ֑יהָ in the fortresses mibṣār וְהָיְתָה֙ thereof: and it shall be hāyâ נְוֵ֣ה an habitation nāwe תַנִּ֔ים of dragons, tannîn חָצִ֖יר a court ḥāṣîr לִבְנ֥וֹת for owls. bat יַעֲנָֽה׃ yaʿănâ

וּפָגְשׁ֤וּ shall also meet pāgaš צִיִּים֙ The wild beasts of the desert ṣiyyî אֶת with ʾēt אִיִּ֔ים the wild beasts of the island, ʾî וְשָׂעִ֖יר and the satyr śāʿîr עַל to ʿal רֵעֵ֣הוּ his fellow; rēaʿ יִקְרָ֑א shall cry qārāʾ אַךְ also ʾak שָׁם֙ there, šām הִרְגִּ֣יעָה shall rest rāgaʿ לִּילִ֔ית the screech owl lîlît וּמָצְאָ֥ה and find māṣāʾ לָ֖הּ מָנֽוֹחַ׃ for herself a place of rest. mānôaḥ

שָׁ֣מָּה There šām קִנְּנָ֤ה make her nest, qānan קִפּוֹז֙ shall the great owl qippôz וַתְּמַלֵּ֔ט and lay, mālaṭ וּבָקְעָ֖ה and hatch, bāqaʿ וְדָגְרָ֣ה and gather dāgar בְצִלָּ֑הּ under her shadow: ṣēl אַךְ also ʾak שָׁ֛ם there šām נִקְבְּצ֥וּ be gathered, qābaṣ דַיּ֖וֹת shall the vultures dayyâ אִשָּׁ֥ה every one ʾiššâ רְעוּתָֽהּ׃ with her mate. rĕʿût

דִּרְשׁ֨וּ Seek out dāraš מֵֽעַל ye of ʿal סֵ֤פֶר the book sēper יְהוָה֙ of the Lord, yĕhōwâ וּֽקְרָ֔אוּ and read: qārāʾ אַחַ֤ת one ʾeḥād מֵהֵ֙נָּה֙ of these hēnnâ לֹ֣א no lōʾ נֶעְדָּ֔רָה shall fail, ʿădar אִשָּׁ֥ה none ʾiššâ רְעוּתָ֖הּ her mate: rĕʿût לֹ֣א lōʾ פָקָ֑דוּ shall want pāqad כִּֽי for kî פִי֙ my mouth pe ה֣וּא it hûʾ צִוָּ֔ה hath commanded, ṣāwâ וְרוּח֖וֹ and his spirit rûaḥ ה֥וּא it hûʾ קִבְּצָֽן׃ hath gathered them. qābaṣ

וְהֽוּא And he hûʾ הִפִּ֤יל hath cast nāpal לָהֶן֙ hēm גּוֹרָ֔ל the lot gôrāl וְיָד֛וֹ for them, and his hand yād חִלְּקַ֥תָּה hath divided ḥālaq לָהֶ֖ם hēm בַּקָּ֑ו it unto them by line: qǎw עַד it for ʿad עוֹלָם֙ ever, ʿôlām יִֽירָשׁ֔וּהָ they shall possess yāraš לְד֥וֹר from generation dôr וָד֖וֹר to generation dôr יִשְׁכְּנוּ shall they dwell therein. šākan בָֽהּ׃
